Hi all. We've made it to the 60 day mark. Hopefully no one has decided to cancel.
Time to book those excursions!!
Princess Tink
03-24-2004, 10:55 AM
We're thinking of doing StingRay City as well......still debating on booking it on our own through Capt Marvins though. This is the only excusion we've really bounced around. We have a 6 yr old and don't want to plan too much, expect too much with him yet. We are guilty of letting him lead the way so to speak, our vacations seem to go much smoother that way. It's not to the extent of him RUNNING things, but rather all of us going with the flow of things.
MO Disney cruiser
03-24-2004, 11:00 AM
Sometimes at that age it's just better to let them "run things" and still enjoy vacation. I figure, it's their vacation too.
I am a bit past that point. My dd is 13 and we can pretty much get away with more. With that said, we aren't going snorkeling with the stingrays because she says she won't get in the water with those things. "they're called stingrays for a reason!!!" is what we heard.
Princess Tink
03-24-2004, 11:26 AM
I think I can wait for him to be gasp a teenager, he already has an attitude....ha, ha, ha. Just teasing! Actually he's not too bad, he and I actaully tend to go the same direction....poor dad on the other hand seems to get drug all over the place against his will :p !
I am actaully the one that is a little apprehensive about swimming with the stringrays, I'm not too sure about it....but I'l give it a try!
Hi Everyone!!
We are gettting really excited! We have also decided to do the Captain Marvin's stingray excursion. I called and reserved it last Thurs. I hope my DD (7) does ok with it. It was her and my DH's idea that we do it. I am just kind of going along.
Any one else staying at the Ron Jon Cape Caribe? We hope to get there early to make use of the great pools that I hear they have.
Jdubbs, I don't think I mentioned in my earlier post that we have late seating for dinner. I also notice that I may have left off that my DH is also coming along. I only had DD out beside my name. For some reason he would let me leave him at home this time. :)
My brother and his wife and DS (5) and our parents will also be with us. This is my brothers first cruise so he is bouncing off the walls!!

Just walking around Grand Cayman,as my son wants to participate in the Hidden Mickey search which is around 1pm & then doing the Beach Break in Cozumel again.... however the Jeep excursion sounds rather fun!

Just bumping up. I have made tremendous progress on my packing list, just getting together some of the odds and ends. One thing that has been a bit time-consuming is that we did not dress formally on our four-day cruise last year, so it has been a bit involved to get everything for the four of us to dress formally on this one. Although I have gotten most items at great prices and I am really excited at the prospect of getting some good photos onboard.
Hmmm, still waiting on those documents..........

04-26-2004, 11:15 AM
I called the TA Friday afternoon. Unfortunately, my TA was out early and I had to deal with a very rude unpleasant lady.....I'm so glad she's not me TA, I would of been a little ticked. She said my documents just arrived in their documents dept and that they would have to confirm all information on them prior to allowing them to be sent out or picked up. We opted to pick them up as nobody is home during the day to sign for them, and they will not leave them without a signiture. So, I'm leaving the office early today to pick them up......actually to take my DS(6) to the doctors, but we'll make a side trip to the TA's office. Poor little guy has an ear infection (we suspect), I hope we get it taken care of and it don't come back between now and vacation.

Sure enough he had an ear infection in both ears. We think it's allergy related, he takes Zyrtec daily....as do I, one of the benefits of the Midwest . So, we're trying something different with his allergy meds, along with a strong dose of antibiotics. He's already feeling better with just having 2 doses behind us.
I picked up our documents today, woohoo!!! Finally I have them in my hand. However, I made the mistake of taking DS to the TA's office with me. I had to drag him out of there, literally! They strictly specialize in cruises, so they had statues of ships everywhere....completely decorated in nautical decor. He said no I'm not going anywhere.....I'm staying here until we go on vacation! He was so funny, or at least for the first minute.

MO Disney cruiser, we live in Lawson, MO (approx 30-45 minutes north of Kansas City). It's a very nice area. I grew up in KC, so it took a little getting used to. My DH is from this area.
We are flying in Thursday, arriving around NOON. I've been mapping out a plan of action. Let's see Thurs AK then off to Epcot, Fri MK then off to MGM then back to MK. My DH keeps giving me this look, I don't think he's very impressed.....but we were at WDW for 6 days last year and did not even step foot into the parks, my DS and I are in withdrawal. DH tells me that don't mean he has to go, remember we can spend hours at swimming in SAB. I told him we'll see......we have to at least spend 1 day at the parks (DS says he really wants to go to MK and MGM, and I want to go to Epcot). By the way, we're staying at the Beach Club Villas. We're flying back to MO the evening after the cruise, we figured that would give us a chance to go to DTD.

Princess Tink all I can say is WOW! You're going to need the cruise to rest after 2 days like that.
We're in South Central MO. About 1 hour south of Jeff City. Very much small town america here. We'd love to go down a day early, but DD is already missing the last 3 days of school. Darn ice storms this past winter.
DH and I are wishing we could spend some time in the parks. We're having withdrawl. The last few years, it been take a cruise and do a couple of days in the parks. We're hoping this fall to maybe take a week at WDW. No cruise, just parks.

04-28-2004, 12:03 PM
MO Disney cruiser, that's what my DH keeps saying too....and that he thought we were going to have a relaxing vacation this year. I told him he had 5 days full of relaxation, and what he wanted last year. He has to give a little!
Unfortunately, we got hit by quite a few Snow Days after the first of the year too. My poor little DS is going to be missing 4.5 days of school. We used to have days padded into the schedule that allowed room for a couple days or at least I thought. He was suppose to get out half day May 18, not it's been extended to May 26. Luckily he's only in Kindergarten, I sopke to his teacher and she assured me he would not miss out on anything. It's so hard to plan a vacation, as he attends summer school. Summer school in our town is normal for most children, they offer enrichment classes and do some fun things. It keeps him busy since both DH and I work full time. And this way he stays focused and into the routine of school. He ussually only gets a week or so off in between regular school and summer school, then they get a few days break around the first of July, then 2-3 weeks in August. But, who wants to vacation in August.....not us!
We typically vacation the first 2 weeks of July because that's when DH gets his vacation, it's a company wide shut down type thing....we don't really like ii, but don't have too much of a choice. He also gets the time off in between Christmas and New Years, which unfortuantely does not do much better for the cost of a cruise, not to mention I can not get him to vacation during that time yet anyhow.
When we looked to book this cruise 18 months ago, we found that it actually saved us between $1000-2000 in the total cost of the cruise, so we decided one way or another we were going in late May (but that's a whole other story).

Is anyone going diving while in Cozumel? My husband scuba dives and in the past we had extended family with us on the cruise with a diver or two. I would really like to hook him up with a fellow diver.

I'm with you on the August vacation. Yuck! Between the heat and the cost. No thanks.
We normally vacation in September. The busy season kicks into high gear at work in October. I need to gather up energy before the 12+ hour days kick in.
The only reason we chose this cruise is that we were playing on the internet back in June and saw this one for a good rate. We had been wanting to take a 7 day cruise. We've taken several 3/4. We thought DD would be out of school by then. Our district does build in days since we are in a rural area. More ice than expected. That and(I still don't get this one) the district was given off a day this spring since the high school girls basketball team made it to the final 4. Like we all needed a day off for that:rolleyes:
I was checking today on the travel websites and several of them have our cruise sold out. See you there:wave:

Unless I missed it, it doesn't seem that anyone has been upgraded. What is up with that? This cruise was heavily booked early, apparently, but there were still some of the higher categories showing availability recently so I would have thought some of us lower ones would have been pushed up??
Maybe that is why my docs haven't come yet. They are waiting to the last minute to see just how much they can upgrade me! :p

Welcome to our meet ShannonRT.The list keeps growing. Now we are down to weeks!!!
We are counting down the Days!!! We are going down on Friday and staying at the Ron Jon's. Anyone else staying there?
Also how many are going on the Captain Marvin's Sting Ray Excursion? We have booked the Half Day. I am hoping my DD (7) will not freeze up and will actually get in the water. it was her and my DH idea to go. My dad and my brother are also coming along on this excursion, while my mom, sister-in-law and nephew stay and enjoy the pool.

Jskelton, somehow I missed your reply about diving. My husband will be diving with Eagle Ray in Cozumel. His last dive was in Jan 2003 on our Bahamas cruise. He really hasn't had time since to do any more diving. He was going to rent the equipment from a local dive shop and practice in our pool since he can't make it to any of the refresher courses at any of the local dive shops. However, we have had a dramatic couple of weeks around here and that seems to be the last thing on his mind. His father was diagnosed with prostate cancer on Good Friday and his grandmother was rushed to the hospital early Saturday morning with congestive heart failure. They say bad things come in 3's. I hope that's not true. At this point, we really need a relaxing vacation!

RAC, I didn't notice your mention of the Captain Marvin's excursion. My husband and son will be on the 11AM excursion. My son is 11 and this will be his first snorkeling excursion, too. I am worried that the stingrays will freak him out. Since he is 11, I'm sure he will try to act cool about it anyway.

We are currently living in the Shreveport/Bossier area. I'm not sure where prairieville is located compared to here.

days-going-so-slow, Prairieville is about 10 miles southeast of Baton Rouge. I'm originally from Monroe so I have been to Shreveport many times. When I was a kid, I loved to eat at Pancho's in Bossier. We have one in Baton Rouge and it definitely is not what I remembered as a child.
Are you originally from Louisiana? I was just wondering if someone else would have my twangy accent. For those of you that don't know, North LA has the Arkansas/Mississippi accent while below Alexandria(mid-state) has the more Cajun accent. I married a Cajun so we have a mixed marriage!

We have early dinner also, John. We tried late seating on our last cruise and didn't care for being so full that close to bedtime. We like time to walk off our dinners. Also, we requested to be seated at a table with just the 4 of us. On 2 of our previous cruises, we had a large group of extended family with us, so we knew everyone eating with us. Last January, Rob and I cruised alone(without kids or family) and were seated with another couple. We just don't care for trying to make small talk with strangers. We were to be seated at a table with just the 2 of us (it was our 15th anniversary) and the other couple requested to be moved from the table they were seated at. They put them with us. The irony of that is the couple was originally seated with their own son, dil and grandchildren. They decided they didn't want to eat with them, so we got stuck with them instead. The first night we had eaten at Palo for our anniversary and when we showed up the second night they were surprised because they thought they had a table to themselves.

We have the late seating this time. My daughter is a night owl, I hope she will do ok. We are also planning to go to Paradise Beach. I read that it is Great!!

We went ahead and booked the REAS package (last minute decision) yesterday as we were thinking about a message. I seen the new price list for the SPA on Barb's website and immediately decided it would be more beneficial to book that and not have to worry about making reservations once on board, as I was able to make Dinner reservations at Palo (which we weren't too sure of at first) and Brunch reservations as well just as a courtesy. I did start sorting out clothes for everyone last night. We are flying in the day before the cruise and then staying at Pop Century until Monday after the cruise. That's 11 days of clothes. I refuse to do laundry while on vacation. Unfortunately for my husband, I'm a clothes shopaholic and it looks like no one needs any additional clothes. I'll probably be rushing around like crazy next Thursday night trying to get it all together. I am trying.., & if I succeed I am rewarding myself with a pedicure Friday morning!
RAC - I am in Jax - how funny that you are stopping here... looks like you will be a few hours ahead of us!
One word of caution - there is a lot of construction on 95 from Jax, south to St Augustine, so be careful & be prepared for possible delays. A few months ago I heard the stretch between Jax & St Augustine's was averaging more accidents than anywhere else in the state - now some of the constuction is over, so it isnt as bad as it used to be & I am not trying to alarm you guys, as I drive it all the time, I just wanted you to be aware...plus now that I said it, you will have no problems & can laugh at me when we meet!
See everyone on board & safe trips to the port!

hello everyone, hope everyone had a safe trip home. also hope everyone is handling being off the ship better than we are. wonderful vacation. enjoyed meeting all who showed to the meet. thanks jdubbs for the pins. hope ya'll have a great summer.
Hi all!!
We made it home safe and sound, and sane I might add!! It was a long and sad 8 hours, knowing that we have to go back to work and cleaning house. But we will start counting down to our next cruise!! It won't be Disney but that is ok, it will still be magical I hope.
It was great meeting you all at the DIS meet. We enjoyed the Captain Marvin excursion with JDubbs and his family, Hi Tanya and Megan!! It was great getting to know you guys, Megan is a doll!! The buttons were great, it was how my husband first spotted John (jdubbs) at the pool before the meet.
Hope everyone had a great time!!

We just made it home this morning after a couple of days spent at WDW. Now I'm trying to get the mountain of clothes done and getting caught up on what went on at my store while I was out. BTW, I'm doing all this while the rest of the family is napping!!! There's something wrong with this picture:mad: I really enjoyed meeting you all. Thanks for setting up the meet, John!! Hello to Tiiiigergirl and JSkelton, I enjoyed our visits!!!

I also missed the Dis-meet because I lost track of time. That cruise was a blast and we are planning on going back. I can't imagine cruising with anyone else but DCL. I apologize about missing the meeting. Did anyone else realize there are no clocks onboard? I didn't know that. Teaches me to bring a watch next time.
