HI! I am staying at Port Orleans French Quarter from August 4-10. I have stayed at DxL several times and never had a problem. However, I am hearing that there is a new bus system in place. Busses only come when there are enough people to fill them to capacity. Is this true? If so, how long can I expect to wait? Would I be better off renting a car? I was wondering how the transportation was from this resort?

Bump, bump, bump....:)
I am interested in the new bus sytem, too.
Has it changed?
How has it changed?
Is it a pain now?

Well, THAT part is not true. They still run buses to all the stops on a regular basis, regardless of how many people are waiting.
What is going on is this. They are experimenting with something called "bus on demand", which would cause extra buses to be dispatched to stops where long lines are forming. Probably a good idea, but the implementation is turning out to be a headache. The extra buses are supposed to be summoned by a computer system which is fed info by CMs keying in requests on a hand held computer similar to a Palm Pilot. This isn't working very well yet. So at some resorts CMs are stationed at the bus stops with a radio. At this point "bus on demand" could turn out to be a very efficient system.... or it could fall flat due to the extra manpower required to make it work.
Meanwhile, there isn't much of a noticeable difference. Most guests get good bus transportation service. And a few go home with "bad bus trip" stories.

HI! Thanks for clearing that up. I was worried that I would have to summon a bus each time I needed it...what a pain!
