This is our first trip to WDW and I have us booked with a
towncar service for the following trip : Airport to WDW,
WDW to cruise ship, (for a 3 day cruise) cruise ship
Universal studios, Universal studios back to the airport.
All of this for $290.00 including tip. I thought maybe I could
rent a car and do a lot better but even using the DC discount
the rate they quoted me at National was $243.25. No insurance
included. By the time I add gas I am at what I am paying for
the towncar . We are not planning on leaving the parks for
any dinning and since we don't know our way arround I thought
it would only be worth renting a car only if we could save $75 to
$100.00 off the town car price but I don't see that happening.
Is $243.25 for 12 days about what I should expect to pay??
There are only three of us would a smaller car make a big
difference? The $243.25 DC discount is a full size car.
Thanks for any input

If you did the math, you'd see that the base rental price is about $20 a day, which is very good. However, you are right. Once you add in insurance and gas, you might as well use a town car service.

First of all ...

Do you already have car insurance? If so, you probably do not have to pay extra for the rental car company's insurance. Check with your insurance carrier.

Secondly ...

You may think that you will not want to drive anywhere during your stay in Orlando, but you just might change your mind. I prefer to have the flexibility of having a car. It may be a wash price-wise, but you'll be on your own schedule and not someone else's.

I'd take the rental car....

You'd also have to add in parking at the port as well...

Thanks for all the help. I had forgotten about the parking fee at
the Ship! Since everyone seems to think the $243.25 is a
reasonable rate I think I will stick with the Limo, not knowing
your way around can be very time consumming and since there
appears to be no financial benefit I think we will leave the
driving to them and hope for good bus service. We are staying
at the Poly so often we can use the monorail.
Thanks everyone
