Epcot Upgrade

One of the things which gives Epcot a "run down" look is the building between Test Track and the World Showcase. I know that it used to be some sort of fancy restaurant, but now it's just a run down building that has a few rest rooms. What was it? Why is it vacant? What are its future plans?

i have been told they use it for CM dining and have used it for special events like during the food and wine festival, maybe even the mother's day luncheon. anybody else know?:tongue:

I believe you are speaking of the Oddesey (sp?) Restuarant.

I was there a few years ago for the "Food Among the Flowers" Brunch for Mother's Day. It was beautiful set up with buffet tables set up in "pods". As I recall each pod was dedicated to a different area desert, ocean, forest etc. The food in each pod corresponded to where it was grown/raised.

Right now I believe you could book a meal there through the Grand Gatherings planners if you have a large party.

Don't know of any future plans for the building.

Odyssey Restaurant was great when Epcot first opened.

It was a fast food restaurant that ha a stage that rose up out of the floor and the characters would come out for a meet and greet. It was usually Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Goofy, and Pluto.

They moved the Mother's Day lunch to the old Millenium Village. They should do something with that building, either renovation or tear down and replace.

Odyssey Restaurant was nice a long,long time ago! They had great Key Lime Pie there! It was the first place I met Mickey,Minnie and Goofy on my 1st trip to WDW.The characters sang,danced and wore these really cool silver space suits!::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

I know for awhile during the Food and Wine Festival there were special tastings held there.

Odyssey is in a GREAT location.I agree they really should do something with it and Millenium Village.

When I worked at the Reservation center they were talking about putting a character meal in there with Buzz Lightyear and other friends. I know that was one of the most requested meals that was requested other than the Princesses.

I beleive the Odyssey Restaurant is also being used for one of the Magical Gathering Events right now. It is an International Storybook Dinner.
