Is the sensation similar between the 2 rides? I used to love ToT but the last few times its been tough. I don't mind the drop its knowing its going to happen but not when that bugs me. I'm looking forward to the new ride at epcot but was wondering what it was like.

IMHO its NOTHING like TOT! In TOT you drop faster then gravity, in Mission Space you are ….. On a mission! :)
Seriously though, I'm not a fan of spinning rides and neither is my husband. The worst ride my husband will do is Space Mountain, but he LOVED Mission Space! He said that this is his favorite ride and the next time we are going back the first park he wants to go to is Epcot to ride MS again.

I would say that the sensation on Mission Space is the closest ride at WDW to Tower of Terror IMO.

MS and TOT are opposites, to me. There are no sensations of falling in MS - you are rising rapidly, instead of falling. Even when you achieve 0 G's, it's a fairly gentle feeling of sitting up, not a sudden drop. I tolerate TOT because others in my family love it, but I really enjoy MS. Totally different sensations! Be sure to keep your eyes on the screen, and keep your head back against the headrest!

I will not ride ToT because of the drops. I don't even ride SM or SM because of the drops. Mission:Space is a centrifuge ride with a screen in front of you. You are spinning so fast that all you feel is a little pressure holding your body to the seat. The things on the screen and listening to the audio is what makes the ride so cool. Just keep your head still and your eyes open and looking straight ahead. My daughter loves rollercoasters and she said that to her ToT was just uncomfortable.

I can see why people are saying that these rides are not similar and they're not wrong - but both rides have to do with G forces.

When you are on ToT there is a lot of anticipation that makes it exciting/scary. There is the feeling that you know you are high up, the doors open and you can see the outside. Plus, it's totally random! All these things make if a very exciting ride!

On M:S you are still dealing with G forces, but you lack other sensory input. You're not going to see the outside from way high up and it's not random so you know what's going to happen next. Most people's main concern about this ride is the spinning factor. I didn't feel like I was spinning at all. You feel pressure on your body pushing into your seat, and you see the take-off sequence, then you are weightless and in space. If you move you head too much or close your eyes you might feel the spinning and get woozy.

All though very differnt rides - if you like G forces, this might be a ride for you.
