How soon do they run out of spots? I don't have $80 right now & probably won't until I get my tax refund check. :( Does the half-marathon usually sell out? If I wait a few months, can I still get a spot? Thanks for your help.

According to what I have read on these boards, last year the 1/2 marathon sold out in about 6 days.

:faint: Oh, well, I guess I can try for the 2006 half-marathon, then! More time for training! :D

They ended up added more slots to the 1/2 marathon last year, I'm guessing partly in response to the fact that it DID sell out so quickly. This year, the registration date is almost 3 months EARLIER, so if non-DISers aren't aware of that, it may not fill quite so quickly....also sometimes if you sign up thru a charity group (for example Team in Training, the Lukemia & Lymphoma folks) you can get a spot that way. You'll need to raise money for the charity if you go that route, but I think you also get a break on the cost of your registration and trip....and you also get a *team* of people to train with.....it might be worth investigating at least.....

There were LOADS of people there with Team in Training. They had a special pre-race *pep rally* at the former Millenium Village on Saturday afternoon - then I believe they had another post-race celebration Sunday afternoon.....I know you can find them at www.teamintraining.org

As for other charities, I'm not sure about contacts, but there was another big group for Stroke Prevention....and other various smaller groups.....

I registered for the half marathon YESTERDAY (2/23) and there were still places available.

I think what someone mentioned earlier is dead on....unless you got the info here or, like me, were signed up for the Marathon info direct from WDW, most people would assume registration will start in March.

I got an e-mail the day after this year's marathon saying registration was opened and I was shocked it was this early :)

I think WDW also figured out last year a lot of people signed up for the marathon since they couldn't get the half and will hopefully make proper space allotments this year

I got an email two days ago saying there were still places - and I can't go this year, I so want to. I got the duck medal - now I want the mouse. If I don't get there before, 2009 is the year I do it (assuming I still have knees by then)
