Welcome to the second installment of "A Midwestern Meat and Potato Eating Couple's Guide to Dining at The Happiest Place on Earth". Hopefully you have enjoyed part one and have put some of the places reviewed into consideration. Now on with the new reviews:

San Angel Inn
Mexico Pavillion at World Showcase:
A very nice and romantic place to eat. The darkened dining area, El Rio del Tiempo flowing nearby, the volcano in the distance....makes for a very laid back dining experience.
Started off with warm tortilla chips and salsa, both hot and mild. I love warm tortilla chips, and the salsa had a nice taste as well.
My wife had the Plato Mexicano, she loved the quesadilla and the chicken enchilada. The beef taco however was to "peppery" for her tase. I ordered the Chef's Selection at the time which was a Roasted Seasoned Pork dish with chorizo and beans and rice. It was very good. Being from Iowa I love Pork and this dish was very satisfying. The service here was great and we were the first people in when it opened. (I had made PS's 90 days out and got in at 11:30) Thumbs up for the both of us!

Le Cellier Steakhouse
Canada Pavillion at World Showcase:
Not as romantic as the San Angel inn, but still a nice restaurant overall. We had dinner her and the only "issue" we had was that my wife's New York strip steak was undercooked. She prdered it Medium, and it came out more rare than medium. She is not the type of person to send things back, even though I told her she should, she ate it anyway saying that it still was good. The portions were pretty big and you get your moneys worth IMHO. I got the double bone Pork Chop (yep Pork again), and I thought the seasonings on it were delicious. I also had to try the World Showcase famous Cheddar Cheese Soup. It was not as great as some reviews had made it out to be, but that is just my taste and opinion, it was still good. The pretzel breadsticks went over well with my wife, while I preferred the other breadsticks. The service was great and I would have no qualms about going there again.

Boma
Animal Kingdon Lodge:
DO NOT TAKE MY OPINION AS THE END ALL BE ALL
We did not like Boma, or rather the food at Boma. It was too out there for us. As the subtitle explains, we are more of a Meat adn Potato type of eaters. They were serving Prime rib on the carving table, and they did have a tasty seasoned chicken dish (that was a little dry, I thought). But beyond that, we just did not find many main entrees or soups that fit into our culinary tastes. My wife did find solace in the chicken strips and french fries on the children's buffet. We tried hummus, cous cous, the Potato Bacon soup, another soup that I forget the name of right now, the sesame rolls, and most of the desserts (including the Zebra Domes). I did, however like the Pineapple Cheesecakes. YUMMY.
We did like the atmosphere, and loved the art and architecture, and we felt the service was quite good. Sorry folks, but the food here gets a thumbs down from us, but this is just our opinion due to our taste in food. Thumbs up to service and atmosphere.

Hoop De Doo Musical Review
Pioneer Hall at Fort Wilderness Campgrounds
A foot stomping, toe tapping, yahooing, tummy pleasing good time!!
We had a BALL!!
This is a must do for anyone looking for good food, and corny entertainment.
The fried chicken was really good and moist, the pork ribs were to die for, and the bread was fresh and mouth watering. The strawberry shortcake for dessert was heavenly.
We really enjoyed that show and I was surprised as to how much audience participation/interaction there was. Two thumbs up for great food and a fun time.
This is not a place for a quiet romantic dining experience, but a loud hootin' hollerin' fun place to eat.

Well, I will let you go for now, hope your mouths are not watering too much ( like mine is).
I will be back soon for Part Three : Counter Service, Snacks, and A whispering Good Time!
Enjoy!

Great Reviews

I was just wondering if the food and the show at the Hoop De Doo Review was worth the price? The price always turned me away because I figure I'm just paying for the show and won't get good food (like a Medieval Times). Thanks

Between both the food and the show, I felt that it was worth every penny. I loved the food, and I forgot to mention in my review that all the alcoholic drinks are included in the price. The only beer they had was Bud Light draft, and a multitude of wines. The food did not dissapoint. But if you want the same type of food without the price, Whispering Canyon Cafe has an All You Can Eat Skillet that has a lot of the same items, no fried chicken though for only $21.99.

Thanks for your reviews. I enjoyed part one and part two, looking forward to part three. I'm glad you enjoyed HDD. I've always thought it was worth every red cent. You're suppose to be having a good time at Disney and that's what the HDD is all about. I've even seen people that I thought would n e v e r participate leave their cares at the door and have a roaring good time. Glad you feel the same about it as I do.
