So far so good with Atkins, I haven't cheated at all, except I did have about a 1/4 of an apple in my salad at MK the other day. But I have noticed I've lost my desire to eat. I also am starting to get a flu/cold so my throat is very sore, not exactly in the mood for meals ... so my question is this ... if I'm supposed to eat once every 6 waking hours what do I do if I'm not hungry. Do I force myself to eat or do I just go on and eat when I can? Will not eating adversely effect my diet? I thought about shakes, but I don't even think I could get one of those down sometimes when I'm feeling queasy.

Congrats on doing well with Atkins!! I love hearing that we are all doing so well. Keep up the great work.

If your sick, it can definately effect your appetite. Using your stomach as a guide is good, but you do need to make sure you keep your blood sugar stable by eating every so often. Also, make sure you are eating enough throughout the day or your metabolism can slow down and actually make you gain weight. If your body thinks you are trying to starve it, it will actually go into a mode that will hold on to your fat to save it for those leaner days that it thinks you are having (like cave-men days).

Hope you get over your cold soon. Feeling well and eating right are not easy when you don't feel good.

Thats my problem, I'm not eating, I eat and I feel sick to my stomach and now with my throat hurting it is worse I have no desire to eat. Would having a piece or two of cheese or meat once every few hours be enough do you think? Thanks for the help!

You should really eat every 3-4 hours if possible. But if you're feeling sick, then perhaps trying something light will help you feel better like some soup. it can be hard to eat when you don't rfeel well, but something light may help you keep yourself feeling a little better. if it were me, I wouldn't worry about my diet. I'd just try to rest and eat something that my tummy can take. And go bak to worrying about my diet when i felt better.

If your throat is sore, what about broth, ot egg drop soup. Sugar free jello is an option. You could get SF cough drops for before your meals. Fasting is not what Atkins is about. You also need some fuel for your body to fight the infection.
