Beach Club Villas--Oct 2001 ?

I just got my newsletter from the Disney Club and it mentioned that the Beach Club Villas were slated to open in October 2001 ! I know they were ahead of schedule, but is this an accurate date or a mistake?? And if it's true when do you think sales would begin?I'm actually hoping its not true since we won't be in a position to do another add on at that point.

I don't have any "official" info, but while a Epcot last week, the big cranes where working well after 6 p.m. It seems Disney is pumping big bucks into this project to get it done ASAP.

I just got my Disney Club newsletter also. It does say that BCV opens in October 2001. I guess I need to call my guide to see if this is accurate. I can't imagine it being completed by then......

I haven't gotten my newsletter yet, I have one question since I am very new here:
At what point can you make reservations at Beach Club Villas?
I'm just curious as I am currently wait listed for a 2BR at BWV and VWL, if I could add BCV to my list I might have a better chance of getting a 2BR for my upcoming visit.
Any help appreciated

At what point can you make reservations at Beach Club Villas?

DVC point reservations won't be accepted until the resort has opened. At least, that has been the pattern in the past. Last fall, VWL opened in Nov and at the same time DVC began accepting point reservations for dates AFTER Jan 14, 2001. I assume that BCV will be the same. DVC will announce the dates well in advance.

I suspect that the information in the DC newsletter is a typo, rather than a radically different opening date than already announced. They have already pushed back the opening of Pop Century- which was supposed to open this Dec and will now open in March, 2002. I can't believe they could push the opening for BCV by a full year.

Rest assured that any official announcements from DVC will be promptly reported here. (Heck, we even get lots of UN-official announcements right here!) Stay Tuned!

I think that's a mistake. When I was there last month, they were still working on the frame. I don't see how they could get the exterior walls and the interiors done by October.

I found it in my newsletter, too, and I hope it is an error. I am not ready to put down the money for an add-on yet.

I saw the construction last month and from I saw it doesn't seem possible they could be open in 4-months. It's got to be a typo, probably meant Oct 2002.

We'll be there in October 2001. If they are opened, I'll be very surprised. And will immediately take lots of pictures to post......

FWIW, in the same paragraph that said the Beach Club Villas would open in October, 2001, was a statement that Pop Century would open in December, 2001. As we now know, the opening of Pop Century was recently delayed until March, 2002.

Could they have meant that this is when pre-sales will begin?

I heard October 2001 from my guide way back when.

FWIW, this is the wording in the Disney Club News:

"There are several new resorts to consider when planning your next vacation. Scheduled to open October 2001 is the Villas at Beach Club Resort and December 2001 Disney's Pop Century Resort. We also recently opened Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the Villas at Disney's Wilderness."

the opening of Pop Century was recently delayed until March, 2002.

I missed that one. Just curious what happens to people holding reservations for December-until the new opening date. Anybody have info on that?

From what I read on the resorts boards, they are attempting to reallocate the people who were booked for Pop Century to the other budget resorts at All Stars. Some people are holding out trying to get a moderate resort or at least a hefty discount on a moderate or deluxe resort.

Yes, Pop Century guests are being offered All-Stars for the same price. I took WL Junior Suite instead, at full price. I hope that VBC will be opening in October 2001, so then maybe I can get a studio or 1 BR over NYE!

Do you think VBC is opening 10/01 and that is the reason PC is opening 03/02? Maybe they are speeding up VBC construction w/ people from PC to get it finished?

I think if they really were opening 10/2001, they would be starting to take cash reservations by now. I think it's a typo - should be 10/2002.
