I signed them up for our upcoming trip. I just read another post that the boat seems to be filled kids around the age of 5. The both still enjoy fantasy play - especially my 8 yr old.

While the boat had a lot of younger children on my DD's trip, she would still do it again in a heartbeat! She had a wonderful time. If they're still into fantasy, they will love it!!

My DS9.5 year old went in Dec. and loved it. My DD7 also enjoyed it. There were younger children on the cruise. I told my son that the CMs would probably need him to be a leader and show everyone how to behave on a boat.
He was hesitant about this activity but went anyway because I insisted. It was one of his favorite activities from the trip. For someone who didn't want to go he sure talked about it a lot for the rest of the week.
It was the 4 year olds who were having trouble separating from their parents. I think the older children enjoy it more because there wasn't any anxiety involved for them.

My 9 year old didn't like it. And his a very "young" boy, if you know what I mean. He had to buddy up and hold hands with another boy-He thought that was for 'kindergardeners". I guess it depends on the child. My son loves to play with swords, etc. so I was surprised, but he did feel there were too many young kids on the boat.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will keep the pirate cruise for my boys. They will have each other to partner with. They are best buddies (85% of the time anyway :upsidedow)
