Just wondering what everyone's pet peeves were at WDW? Decided to start a new thread, the other one is kind of out of hand.
Some of mine include:
1. Parents with six autograph books for the character to sign for kids that don't even want to get near the character or are too young to even know if they want autographs. Sometimes the character greetings can get really ridiculous, I guess that's why I pay the big bucks to go to character meals.
2. Another one is when obnoxious teenagers are waiting in line, acting bad and cursing. Really doesn't set a good example for my 7 year old daughter.

Mine is people who think they are entitled to everything. You know the ones who are pushy and rude and who say things like "well I paid X amount of dollars to be here!". Like I didn't spend any money to be here lol
Also the more I go to crowded places, the more I wish people had brake lights and turn signals attached to their person lol

Some people using strollers with their kids can be very pushy. I know it's hard to travel with small children, but when the parks are crowded, I wish more would understand that I can't clear the way of them right away all of the time.

People who walk between the interpreters and the audience when there are other ways to leave a show. And if that is the only way to go, please do it as quickly as possible as to be the least distraction to those needing the interpreters. They are not there just to be pretty.

I get tired of the ..."No drinking, eating, flash photo, spontaneous fun" message before every attraction. I understand the need, but whew!!

O.K., so this happened today at "another theme park" in Orlando but could happen at Disney.
People who send their backpacks down the slide at the playground. There could be a little one at the bottom of the slide (like mine) that could get hurt...and they were 2 giant backpacks.

speaking of backpacks, is it just me, or does anyone else get WHACKED with the backpack people in line (when they turn around), or how about the ones who walk and suddenly stop and you smash into their backpack and YOU get the dirty look! It's even worse when you're in a dark area like ToT library or Haunted Mansion and you can't even see the backpack and try to avoid it!

OMG I was in the Disney outlet store at Belz a few months ago. This lady has this HUGE backpack and kept bumping me with it. I finally ask her if she will kindly stop hitting me with it. She rolled her eyes and told me to get over it! Idiot.

What are they carrying that causes some people to have backpacks the size of texas. I had everything my daughter and I needed in a knapsack type thing a little larger than a purse. I swear some people are packing as if they are about to scale mt everest!

I feel like I carry a small pharmacy in my small fanny pouch. How I manage to fit all these items in it I will never know.......contact solution, extra lenses, sunglasses, chapstick, suntan lotion, ID, park passes, tylenol, penny press book, 2 rolls of quarters and a roll of pennies, park map, pen and cell phone. I would like to know exactly what else these people carry that require a huge backpack. Geez, my fanny pack weighs about 10 pounds and even I get tired of lugging it around my waist. These people with the backpacks must have terrible pain in their backs at night.

Let's see. Change of clothes. repair equipment for my wheelchair, BGmeter, strips, lancet, insulin and syringes, emergency sugar supply, ponchos for me and the power wheelchair, sweatshirt in case I get chilly, sunscreen, medications and painkillers, batteries for my hearing aids and a case in case the need to be removed, Disney pins for trading, pad and paper for people who don't understand my speech, change, my canes, cord for the wheelchair charger. umbrella. Of course my id, pass and credit card are on my lanyard. Heavy? I have no idea because it is attached to the back of the wheelchair. Fortunately it doesn't extend past the base of the wheelchair so no chance of hitting someone with it unless I hit them with the chair as well.
Btw when my girls were with me all the time they used to dump everything they didn't want to carry into the backpack as well.

XTine..thanks for starting my original thread over again. It brought me a great deal of joy and helped to educate me about others likes and dislikes that intend on using when our family makes further WDW trips.
I will admit that I am extremely dissappointed that it took a DIS Moderator to shut down the old thread to gain closure to a problem that I had requested 3 times to allow the issue to die. I hope that the same problem does not close this thread down.
I will not be posting any further pet peeves...I am going to move on to another thread...

Backup beepers might be a nice addition! LOL
Pet peeves of mine are.....people who are in such a rush to DO everything that they don't actually SEE everything. They don't seem like they enjoy themselves very much, and that's such a shame.
I've read through all of both threads on this subject and all of my pet peeves have been covered.
What I have learned though is a little more tolerance and understanding for situations different then those I am used to. Hearing someone explain why they do a certain thing makes it easier to understand when you experience the behaviour.
I have a ds (7) who looks perfectly normal (and is quite handsome I might add) but has a number of disabilities. Sometimes we are guilty of the things mentioned but never with ill intentions...we just do our best to get thru the day.
So thanks I've learned a lot by this topic, I will do my best to be tolerant of others...I will be more aware of how my actions may impact others and I will continue to do the things necessary to make my sons vacation as fun and safe as possible.
I hope others get the same out of this thread as we have been subject to many rude comments, dirty looks and misinformed judgements.
This has truly been a great topic, Thank You:earsboy:

I love kids, have three of my own and six and a half grandkids now...but..my pet peeve is that some adults think if you are there WITHOUT KIDS that they have more rights ....My all time favorite is the parents who feel if you are at a character dinner without kids then the characters should not bother to talk to you at all. We have twice had parents tell kids to come to our table and bring the characters over there when we were trying to get photos of ourselves with them...grrrr

I already posted a bunch of pet peeves in the other thread, but I've thought of another one that happens to me quite a lot.
For some reason, lots of men like to stretch out and rest their arms on the back of the seats on the monorail. Not a problem. However, when I have to sit right behind them, I don't understand why so many of them refuse to move their elbows out of the back of my neck.
I feel weird having to turn around and ask them to move their arms but you'd be amazed at how many times I've had to do it. There's no way they could have NOT noticed. I am not a touchy feely person and don't find it very comfortable being touched by strangers or by people who invade my personal space.......

OOH, I just thought of one....
A big pet peeve of mine is standing next to someone that smells like a bag of onions. They have a huge back pack on them (or standing with some one who has one on, and you want to ask..."do ya have some deorderant in that bag"!!!! And I know they smell themselves!!!!!! - Come on people if you know your hormones are going to be off (assuming this is not the norm of your body scent) place deorderant in your bags. Its normal especially during the warmer months.
Hope I didn't step on any toes!!!!:hyper:

My pet peeves on this last trip was a 12-15 year old girl (I don't guess ages right but she looked 12 to me) that had on a t-shirt that read...
"If you think I'm a B*tch, you should meet my mom!"
Thing is her mom was with her. Nice to be insulted by your child's clothing and do nothing about it...
I hate people who don't watch their kids...I had a kid in front of me at Universal who was trying on sunglasses and then throwing them on the floor...I said something but he just looked at me funny and when his mom called him he just left.
Last pet peeve...Don't have your kids up and about at Downtown Disney at 11pm, whinning and complaining. HINT: they are tired and NEED to go to bed!!!!!
I also hate that people leave their trash on tables...
Ok...I'm fine now...thanks for the vent. :p

As has already been stated, smelly people (yuck!) and people who leave trash on the tables. Clean up after yourselves! I also can't stand it when people litter even though there is a trash can two feet away, or people who allow their child to pee where ever even though the restroom is nearby. I witnessed that at AK in August.
Lastly, people who leave there chewed up gum wherever they please. I got gum on my butt after leaving 50's PrimeTime in Mgm. I leaned up against a column while talking to my mom, and the gum was right at butt level. I was mad for some time afterwards.

Uh, from personal experience, I know that people with certain diseases sometimes deteriorate. Just because she spoke well and heard you fine a "a few years ago" doesn't mean she is functioning at that same positive level now.
My husbands hearing was fine a few years ago, but now wears hearing aides. It happens.

My pet peeves:
--Parents who allow their children to run around in the fountains inside the parks naked or half naked. I just think it's totally class-less. My kids "swim" when we get back to the resort.
--Parents who allow their children to run around and misbehave in restaurants. Your job as a parent is to teach them manners. I've taught my kids manners. I want to dine with my DD's & DH, not with your kids "visiting" my table. You might think it's cute - I don't!
--Foreigners that pretend they don't understand the English language when you are saying excuse me or they are trying to stop in the middle of a row & you are telling them (or a CM is telling them) they need to move all the way down. I've always wondered how you can enjoy a show or attraction but not understand a word they're saying!
BTW - I am going to be more conscience of not doing some of the things mentioned on these boards. I guess we all get so caught up in what we are doing that we forget about common courtesy to others around us - although I really do try!!! but I'm going to try harder now. ::yes::

- People who have been going to disney for years and complain about all the changes. "I remember when....."
- People who go to disney in the off season so they won't have to deal with crowds then complain because the parks close early.
- People who complain about those of us that are more interested in the rides than the "magic". I don't want to slow down. I want to go,go,go. I didn't spend that much money to sit on a bench and people watch. I'm sure I'll change my mind about this after I get a few more trips under my belt. Right now I'm just interested in the rides and shows.
-People who try to make others feel like crap because they're staying in a value resort instead of the GF.
-People who try to make others feel like crap because they picked a Carnival cruise over DCL.
- People who get angry because the resort didn't grant their room REQUEST.
- People who try to make parents feel bad about the amount of money they give their kids to spend on vacation.
-People who stand in the stand by line and give those of us using fast pass nasty looks as we walk pass them.

You know, last night my SO and I were at my parents talking about hotels. We were actually talking about Las Vegas but the same principle applies. My mom was insisting that if SO & I go to Vegas we should stay at a fancy "pretty" hotel. Well, SO and I are both very much into fantasy and sci fi and geeky stuff like that. We much prefer colorful themes, and flashy (sometimes tacky) decor. It's just the way we are. If I go to VEgas, we plan to stay at Luxor (Egypt themed) , TI (pirate themed) or Excalibur (fantasy/medieval themed). My mom, who likes to stay in the resort that most looks like a mansion  could not wrap her mind around staying in a giant pyramid or castle.
Likewise, if I was staying on site (I'm not because we have a timeshare available to us offsite) I'd likely pick a bright, themed resort like Pop Century, All Star Movies, or Music.
The GF just looks kind of...boring to me. Even as an adult with no kids. *shrugs* I can see the romantic old time appeal , I guess but that's just not my thing. I could care less about Spas, but show me a gigantic statue of a dalmation and I'll be snapping pictures of it for days.
While some of the higher priced resorts have "fun" themes, (Poly, Ft. Wilderness, AK Lodge), most of them just seem rather dull to my senses. I don't think that means I have less class; it just means I have different tastes.
So I too get annoyed when people try and make you feel like you are somehow beneath them because you are staying offsite or at a value resort.

I hate that too. Our last trip a family was going to have todot eh baby swap because one of their little boys was to little for the ride. Well the first few of them rode and got off then the next crew got on and the little boy was supposed to go through and wait with the first group. BUT they sat him in a seat and when the cm talked to them they acted like they didnt speak english--but I knew they did I just saw them talking to the previous cm.

Esmerelda- I've stayed at both Luxor and Treasure Island. I thought both were great, but if I had to chose between the two I would pick Luxor. I haven't stayed at Excalibur but have noticed there seem to be more kids there, don't know if that matters to you or not. And I think the "themed" hotels are just as nice as any "pretty" hotel! LOL!

Thanks. Well, I'd lean towards Luxor myself, because I like Egypt. Of course, my SO wishes he was a knight or a pirate I think, so I'm sure we'll spend time in all three. LOL.
Likewise, at Disney, we plan on skipping fancy meals at places like V&A's , the Brown Derby etc, and having meals at places like Sci Fi. And we aren't staying onsite, so in lieu of a few fancy meals at the parks, we're eating at Medieval Times & Pirates dinner theater.
We're like a couple of 10 year olds :) :Pinkbounc

disneyjunkie--weekday statys the Luxor, Excalibur and the like are actually pretty reasonable, though a little high on the weekends. When we stayed at the Luxor we had friends that stayed at Circus Circus and and refused to stay in the roomonce they saw it because they said it was nasty. Lots of stains and very unclean looking. Of course that was a little while back and hopefully they have refurbished the rooms. Sorry to get OT.

I HATE it when people start discussions about pet peeves - it's a pet peeve of mine you see. It really peeves me off when things like this happen, like when my pet (the dog) stole the sausages. It's just irrelevant to anything. Pet peeves should not exist. Bwaa haa. But this is a pet peeve. So is replying to a thread without meaning to make a point. That's a pet peeve. Ditto people who just go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and aren't me. It's just all a pet peeve. Like this. Bwaa.

Sometimes people who are smelly don't notice it. Maybe they have become sensitized to it. My brother has this problem. he doesn't realize when he has B.O.
Also, I know this isn't true of all people who leave their trash on the tables, but I have noticed that people from other countries than the USA don't know that they are expected to clean up after themselves at fast food/counter service restaurants. Of course there are those lazy inconsiderate Americans as well.
My biggest pet peeve actually has to do with parents who push their children out in front of my kids who are interacting with characters or parade CM's. It's like their child has more rights to interaction than all the other children. My younger dd was dancing with one of the puppets during TOD (wah!) and some parent was actually encouraging their child to push my child out of the way so that he could get a picture of his dd with the puppet.
Related to that are the families that get upset when their children aren't chosen for things like Sword in the Stone ceremony or to be in Belle's storytime. I witnessed a family get up and leave Belle's Storytime because their child wasn't chosen. The dad said, "What's the point is staying if she can't be in it?" My kids have never been chosen for anything like that and even they understand that everyone can't.

I absolutly agree with you. It doesn't bother me when a child runs at the character while I'm taking a characters picture or getting an autograph, but when thier parents encourage them to do it, that really bugs me. Respect and manners should not be thrown out the window while on vacation.

That's a big one with me. I know that sometimes people are disappointed when things they like close or change, but it seems pointless to still be complaining about it now. It seems to me that you should enjoy the here and now insteed of complaining that the here and now is not perfect or exactly what you wanted.
A few more of mine that haven't been mentioned so far 1) People who let their children/ grandchildren take joyrides in the motorized wheelchairs. I have no problem with people who need them using them in the parks, but letting a child who has no idea how to drive it hot-rod around the parks is not acceptable IMO. And 2) People who have arguments in the parks. I was walking through AK one time and came across an entire family in the middle of a heated argument of who was going to take the baby somewhere or something. Anyway, the entire family was screeming and yelling extreemly loud just in the middle of the street, even blocking part of the already congested pathway! Unbelievable.

Please no flames, I understand that people do need to use the scooters, but on this last trip we made a couple of weeks ago, we got beeped at alot by people on scooters trying to get through the crowd. It got to be joke as we started beeping ourselves. ha We know that the scooters can be difficult to get around on, but it is really frustrating when I can't get through the crowd on foot, either. We all just have to wait out turn, and beeping at me with your horn on your scooter is not going to help as I can't get out of the way any faster.

people need to be more considerate of where their elbows are. not all of us are 6+ feet tall and for some of us our eyes are being jabbed when people are flapping their elbows around (and to avoid being flamed i am NOT talking about ordinary arm movement)
backpacks. it's one thing if they're hanging from a wheelchair. it is another thing entirely if they are on someone's back. if you have to wear one, watch wear it's swinging. like I said before, some of us are well, vertically challenged, and have been knocked over by out-of-control backpacks.
cell phones in the middle of a show. at least turn them off for the duration of the show. out in the crowds i won't argue with but when they interupt a show it's just not right.
people beating their kids. a) it's not right. b) the rest of the world doesn't want to see it. i feel so bad for those kids, dont beat them.
old, fat men in speedos. and these have definitely been american men too. it's just wrong. i don't enjoy seeing it.

EsmereldaX: I stayed at the Luxor back in March...this is a really cool hotel..If you like the whole Egypt thing; you will love this place...great pool area....the sports book was really cool(free beer; need I say more)....as an added bonus while I was there: the lion king was playing in the omnimax theatre...man did I catch alot of grief from my teammates over that one!!! They had a really good buffet style restaurant downstairs...and of course, plenty of black-jack tables.....also, check out the Mandalay Bay hotel next door....pretty cool....

My 2 biggest pet peeves:
1. When adults (and I use that term begrudgingly) intentionally push children out of their way. I've had people put their hands on my DD and "move" her forcibly off to the side so they could get by. I will let a lot of rude behavior slide without making comments, but do not touch my kids!
2.People who think by using the phrase "excuse me" that entitles them to physically push their way past you.

I did post something about this on the other thread, but don't know if it got lost in the bathroom debate.
Some people on the other thread & someone on this thread mentioned people not moving to the end of the row in a theatre setting. I know the person who posted here mentioned "foreigners" but just wanted to post again so everyone here saw this info.
When a hearing impaired person attends a show at WDW like Fantasmic or ITTBAB, etc.. they can use reflective captioning. The technology used a screen at the back of the theatre and a small plexiglass screen to reflect the spoken words, narrative and lyrics from the performance. My DH uses this since he is profoundly deaf and we are made to enter the theatre before the rest of the crowd so he can be positioned properly to use this feature. Unfortunately that means we are in the middle of a row most of the time and while it is inconvenient to those trying to get by, it is necessary. We do make sure we stand up until the row to the left is full and then sit down and arrange the glass so he can see both the words and what is happening on stage.
Anyway--most people seem pretty aggravated when they have to get around us and we've heard everything from swearing to just plain rude comments. Once the people sitting right next to us see the captioning they are usually full of questions and lots of people say they have never seen it before, etc.... We are more than happy to explain what it is and how it used, why we are sitting there and everyone always says "gee sorry I said something about you not moving".
Just thought I would post again for those who have never heard of this--maybe *some* of those people who aren't moving are there for a reason and can't hear the remarks made either.
Anyway--if you will be there from the 7th to 18th and see some people sitting in the middle of a theatre it might be me, Dh & DS-say hi!!

Ooooh this reminds me of yet *another* pet peeve (I promise I'm not really all that grumpy! :p )
I hate it when a parent behind me in line is holding a baby in their arms, and the baby keeps reaching out and grabbing my hair. And the parent thinks it's cute!!!! THere are times when I can appreciate the cuteness of babies, but if I wanted to be grabbed by them all the time, I'd have one of my own by now. ;)

1) Strollers. Sorry, Mommie. Sorry, Daddie. Your stroller isn't a weapon, battering ram, or an automatic green light for you to push ahead of anyone. For those of you who use strollers responsibly, bless you.
2) Some parents of kids in strollers. Uhhh, if you've been in the park since 9 am, and it's now 11 or midnight, and your child is either zonked out or crying bloody murder, that's just wrong, and very selfish.
3) Rude people. Wide category. You know the crowd. Will wait until the parade starts and then try to squeeze into the 3 inches in front of you, won't move all the way down the aisle, people who talk during the pre-shows, people who sit on the floor when they've been told 18 times to stand up, people on busses who put a bag down on the sit next to them so no one can sit there, etc.
4) Rude CM's. Doesn't happen often. When it does, it really sticks out, and makes a horrible impression.
and finally,
5) Anyone who walks into the Rose and Crown pub in Epcot, orders several extremely light beers, and leaves a few coins for a tip. No clue.

Can I just put forward the opposite 'arguement' about strollers? - after all they say there's two sides to EVERY arguement!!!
What really annoys me - not just at the parks but in shopping malls, supermarkets (when busy) and other crowded places - is the people who seem to think they have a right to push in front of my stroller or step over the front. And heaven forbid I should bump them........of course it's ALWAYS the fault of the person pushing the stroller!!!!!!!!!
And for every one of the people on here moaning about being hit by a stroller, I can probably list numerous times that people change direction or, even better, stop dead right in front of me! Can all of those people moaning honestly, hand on heart, say that they ALWAYS make sure there isn't a stroller behind them before they change direction or stop to look at something?!!!
I had one incident when a stupid woman, tried to literally CLIMB over the front of my daughters stroller in a shop and ended up sitting on top of my six-month old daughter (thankfully she wasn't hurt!!!) - and lo and behold - it was MY fault apparently as I shouldn't have my stroller in the shop! (This wasn't at disney but just indicates my point!)
Whilst on the subject of children - people walking around with lit cigarettes should be thrown out of the parks IMO!!!  My friends little girl has a scar ON HER EYELID where some idiot hit her with their cigarette! The person was sorry afterwards - gave my friend a lift to the hospital - but the burn was literally 1/8 inch from burning her eye!!! Somewhere like Disney should be a place where kids can wlk around without this hazard!!!!!
There I feel better now after that rant!!!!!! :hyper: ;)

Tiggernut_jadie is on the money with the stroller. I used to wear myself out jerking the stroller to a stop or dodging people that cut me off until a family stopped dead on Main Street causing me to fall off the curb and into the street. Then they gave me a dirty look like I couldn't control the stroller! Arrrgh.
No-more. If you put your ankle where it shouldn't be (in front of a moving stroller) there is a good chance all I'll say is a sing-songy "Careful".

I'm sure there are plenty of people that walk in front of strollers when they shouldn't. There are also plenty of stroller drivers that either aren't paying attention or just don't care if they hit someone.
There were a couple of commonly mentioned peeves I had never experienced until our Christmas trip, and being rammed by strollers was one of them. Particularly at park closing when there is no way I accidentally cut them off. Everytime we took a step forward, the stroller behind me clipped me in the ankles. One time I can forgive, but over and over again? Please leave a cushion of space between your stroller and the person in front of you.
We saw a lot of stop in the middle of the walkway types too, as well as the "entire family must stretch out across the walkway" folks. Plenty of parade crowders and rope swingers too.
But the winner of my personal pet peeve award is the crook who stole my Santa Mickey antenna ball from our van in the WL parking lot. May you never return to the Magic again!

You're right SuBeat. The exact same thing happened to me. Finally I just turned around, threw my hands up like a question and shook my head. A sort of "What are you doing?" movement.:p
I guess Disney is just full of those funny things called human beings.
