Hi, I'm popping in, in a state of curiosity and New Year's resolution! I'm jumping back on my Zone as of yesterday, eager to shed lbs, yes, but more importantly, I feel like a SLUG when I'm not on it, and frankly, I can't see me then "slug-ging" behind 3 very active kids and dh at WDW for 2 weeks this summer in the August heat! I like to be the pace car, after all, not the lap-down!
So First of all -- pardon my ignorance -- but what does WISH stand for?
Secondly -- I see lots of Atkins folks -- any Zoners out there?
Thirdly... do I need to "report" somewhere officially, is there some master thread to which I must respond to join this "club"?
THANKS!:hyper:

First of all let me be the first one to welcome you to WISH <We're Inspired to Stay Healthy>. I hear such a positive note in your post, it is nice to read and have another person on the WISH bandwagon.
I am not on the Zone or Atkins, I follow a modified Weight Watchers plan myself, but I believe I have read of one or two folks following the Zone. Hopefully they will read this and post away. I know there is a master directory that Katholyn (nativetxn) has compiled that lists everyone who is a part of WISH and the program they follow, so perhaps you can do a search and find out.
And lastly, you don't HAVE to post anywhere, but in my opinion, posting your success and failures help to keep you on track and may help to inspire someone else. We have weekly check in threads where people post their gains and losses and a number of other check in threads. So come on back, post often and good luck on your journey to get healthy!

Welcome to WISH, gopherit. Love your username!!
I always mess up the WISH acronym, but someone will correct me if I get it wrong, I hope. I believe it stands for We're Inspired to Stay Healthy or something along those lines.
I eat low-carb, not quite as low as others around here. There are many people doing many different eating plans here, so I'm hoping a Zoner will respond. The cool thing is, we are a very friendly bunch and we all support each other, no matter what eating plan we're on. We all have successes to celebrate and rough spots to get through, so we're all here for each other. :D
To be on the "official" WISH challenge roster, you should post to the "Take the WISH Challenge" thread, which is at the top of the thread list. Then we usually post to the weekly check-in thread. All this is optional, of course, and you are welcome to hang out here and post, whether you join the official challenge or not.
I'm glad you found us! I've gotten so much support and inspiration on this board and gotten to know some truly wonderful people!
Best of luck in your journey! :sunny:

I wanted to also say hello and welcome to the board. I know you will find it as encouraging and helpful as I have. I do think you get more out of it if you are posting.
Remember that this journey is for a lifestyle change, not just a diet for a while.
Welcome and aboard and we look forward to getting to know you.

Thanks, folks!
And yes, this is a lifestyle change, not so much a diet, for me. If I lost 10 lbs or 30, it doesn't matter, it's how I FEEL that matters, and when I was on the Zone, I felt GOOD. THen I fell off the wagon, so to speak, and 8 mos later, here I am, Slugville. Plus, I have rheumatoid arthritis in my hands, and for some crazy reason, the Zone diet helps this. Lastly -- DH has very high triglys and family history of diabetes and heart disease, so switching our family meals to a heathier alternative will help him in the long run (even if he balks... he is SUCH a starch-lover.)
We're already an active crew, so this will help us be more active than ever.
See you on the Boards!

Welcome!!
Glad you are going to join us. When I joined WISH, I had about 6 months till my vacation to WDW and by the time I left I had lost about 36 pounds. It's such a great thing to go on vacation and look and feel better than you have in years. It was the best. It was great. Good luck, you can do it!
