Is proof of age required when purchasing a child's admission ticket at Disney? Just want to be prepared as my son is large for his age but will still be 9 at the time that we go to WDW. And just how does Disney figure that a 10 year old is an adult???

I think because many 10 year olds are finally big enough to ride the "adult" rides, the price goes up.

We just got back from the World a couple of weeks ago. My almost three-year-old son is large for his age also. I've always carried his birth card just in case, but never had to use it. This year my DH was getting the kid through the turnstiles at AK, and the girl said "And how old is the little boy?". I said 'two' and she never said anything else. But, that was the only place we were asked.

I'm glad you asked this. My dd is 2 and will be 2 3/4 when we go in May. She's tall for her age (dh is 6'4 and I'm 5'8) and I was wondering if I would need to take her birth certificate with us.

My son will be 2-1/2 when we visit Disney, so I called Disney to ask this question. I was told that it was not necessary to bring a birth certificate to prove his age.

My son turns 10 the day after we return from our vacation. I planned it this way so that we could pay child prices for him. And if anyone asks him how old he is, he'll say he's 9. I'd never dream of lying but I'm not above working the dates to our advantage.

And, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that. :)

They don't. They sell two kinds of tickets: Guest under 10 and Guest 10+.
