View Full Version : Best mints for a low-carber??

I've figured out one reason why I tend to cheat after lunch. I often eat a hamburger patty and it leaves that greasy feel in my mouth. Sometimes I eat other (not-so-low-carb) stuff to get that feel out of my mouth.

I work in an office where taking a toothbrush to the ladies' room after lunch would be laughed at, so I'm thinking about using a breath mint of some kind to get that feel out of my mouth.

Has anyone else experienced this? How did you handle it? What breath mints work best and are low-carb?

Doreen - I don't eat breath mints but I do like a fresh feeling in my mouth after lunch and I like to keep my mouth busy in the afternoon before and after I eat my snack and I have recently re-discovered sugarless gum. I chew Trident which is supposedly recommended by doctors for their patients who chew gum (remember those commercials?).

Anyway, according to the package, this gum has no fat or sodium and less than 1g of carbs. I hope this helps you out!

Gee, I hadn't thought about gum! Thanks for the idea!! :D

Edit - half an hour later ;)

I got some Trident sugarless at the snack bar and it works!! My mouth feels MUCH better!!

Those breath strips also work well and they don't have any carbs. I like the Altoids ones - the Listerine strips are very strong but work well.
