I've been on Atkins for 6 months, so you'd think I'd know the answer to this.
I've never had much of a sweet tooth, so that part of Atkins hasn't been difficult. I regularly use cream in my coffee, but added cool whip instead yesterday and it was so yummy. The package said 3g of carbs for 2 Tbs, and I think that's about how much I used. Has anyone had trouble using Cool Whip instead of cream? The scale is moving again after a 3 week stall and I don't want another stall for a long time!
Thanks in advance. :)

I looked for the nutritional information on their website, but couldn't find it. I've always read not to use Cool Whip or Ready Whip. Since I can't check for sure, I'm guessing the reason is that it has high fructose corn syrup or partially hydroginated oils.
I make my own whipped cream with whipping cream or heavy cream. You can make just what you need or make enough to refrigerate for later use. You can also add Splenda or Davinci syrups for added flavor.
My DH makes chocolate truffle coffee. I add some chocolate Davinci and homemade whipping cream. It's positively sinful. :)

Boy did I just learn a lot! My husband followed the Atkins plan about 4 years ago and lost lots of weight. Once a day he indulged in a fat free jello with cool whip. So when we started this program again last month I just assumed cool whip was okay. I have been eating about 1-2 tbs a few times a week. Probably not killing my weight loss but because you posted this question I went and took a look at the label.:earseek:
I never looked at anything beyond the carb and sugar count. Mistake!
Water, corn syrup, hydrogenatedvegetable oil, coconut and palm kernel oils, high fructose corn syrup....no wonder it tastes so good!
Okay so my tub in now in the trash and its back to homemade whipped cream with splenda!
LisaTx, that coffee sounds delicious! Whats the coffee brand you use? Thanks! Have to try that for sure.:)

It's the Simon David store brand at Tomb Thumb. I think the same chain own Randall's as well. :)
I just finished up my favorite sweet treat. I mix 2 oz cream cheese, 1 Tbs whipping cream and 1 Tbs Davinci syrup. Whip with an electric beater until smooth and creamy. Believe it or not, I lose faster when I eat this. :)

Waaaaah! I knew that was too good to be true. Thanks for the info. It's back to the plain old cream for me. :)
