We plan on spending two non-disney days in L.A. while staying in our Anaheim hotel. We would like to go to Universal Studios and then spend a day touring Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica. I'm assuming that traffic will be lighter on the weekend. Is this a fair assumption?

Well, sort of. You won't encounter the typical morning and evening work rush hour traffic, but traffic in the L.A. area can be pretty horrendous even on weekends. It depends on what freeways/streets you will be using. But overall it will be less congested than on a weekday. Have fun! :D

Definitely go to the Dis for the weekdays so it is less crowded and the weekends will be less for LA. Less crowded is a relative term in LA. It might still be busy, but you never know!

Update on the LA traffic situation!! We have gone into L.A. 3 different weekends recently and the traffic is HORRIBLE!! DH drives the L.A. freeways for work at least 3 times a week and he says the weekends are MUCH worse now. Today it took us 2.5 hours to go 80 miles. 1.5 hours of it was the last 30 miles from downtown L.A. to West Hills. This was between noon & 2:30 pm. It took over 1.5 hours to get home from 11 pm until almost 1 am. I really don't want to scare anyone away from making the trip to L.A.. I just want you to be prepared to start early and to sit in your car awhile.:earseek:

Yes, just allow 1.5 times what you think it should take and you will be fine. ;)

Thanks everyone for the information. Does the traffic tend to be more congested on Saturday or Sunday? If the traffic is worse on Saturday, I am thinking of doing Universal on a Saturday in March (even though the park will be more crowded) and then seeing LA on a Sunday. How does this sound?
