What is it and how do you get it?

It sometimes is a reward for frequent fliers. sometimes it is a promo with a specific airline. IE: sometimes SWA has a friends fly free promo.(this, btw, has not happened this year).

We received a companion voucher from Delta when we switched our AMEX to Platinum. We would have to pay full fare for 1 adult and then get the second seat for "free."

Waiting for a good time to use it.

With our renewal of our Continental Master Card we get 1 free companion ticket every year. With the purchase of 1 Continental rt ticket the next one is free.http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoticons4u/fingers/fing11.gif

If you have one of these be sure you check out the airfares. Since a lot of them require expensive seats it can be cheaper to buy two tickets. Plus both parties must have the exact same flights. (I had a friend who traveled with her husband on one of these, he had to return home early and she wound up buying a full fare ticket since she did not go with him!)

Full fare tickets are often just sky high. A full fare ticket for me from Nashville to Atlanta runs $1000!!!!
