All,

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I figured most of the people on the budget board would know.

Is the turnpike a toll road? If so, what is the toll or what is the per-axle charge? I'm pulling a trailer to FW and have only made this trip once before, several years ago. I just need to know what kind of $ to keep handy in the car.

Yes, it is a toll road. There are tolls at some entrances or exits; how they figure which ones I have yet to understand. There are also "full stop" toll boths in the middle of the road. For cars the tolls can be anywhere from 50¢ to $2.00. You should probably not need more than $20.00 in cash.

Does anyone entering Disneyworld from Orlando need to pay the toll?

You only have to pay this toll if you come down I75 to the Florida Turnpike and take the turnpike to I4. It cost us $3 going down and $2.50 when leaving. If you come out of Orlando on I4 then you won't have to drive on the turnpike.

Have a couple of quarters handy. Some of the toll booths are automatic with nobody there. I quite honestly don't know what you would do if you didn't have any change to toss into the basket. But there is an ominous sign that says there is a $100.00 fine for not paying the toll!

this happened to us, we had to get out of the car, open our luggage and scrape change out of dh's pants!

why they are not manned is beyond me!

I drive from CT most of my trips. I am not sure of the total amount for tolls but here is a guesstimate for the way I go to FL.
New Jersey Tpke, Tappen Zee Bridge. $0 going south, $3 Northbound
Garden State Parkway 5 tolls at $.35 each
Delaware Bridge $3.00
Tunnel in Va $3.00
I know I am missing something here but I don't think it was more than $1 or $2.

From there on there are no tolls. I go I-95 straight down to I-4, then I-4 into the parks. I don't take the toll roads because they are not as direct for me.
