The list of travel companions includes:
DH, DD age 4 1/2, my parents (first-timers), DH's parents (visited WDW once in 1981), and me.
Up early again today, to have breakfast at the buffet in Boma at AKL. First of all, AKL is absolutely beautiful! We walked around a bit after breakfast to soak it all in. Breakfast was great - one of our favorites. They had a juice blend, I forget what they called it, but it combined pineapple, mango, and orange juices with lemonade - yummy! Then of course they had fruit, cereals and oatmeal, eggs and omelettes made to order, sausages, bacon, potatoes, pastries, muffins, an awesome banana bread, 2 kinds of breakfast pizza, one with meat and one veggie, and 2 African dishes, the names of which I cannot remember. They were superb, if you like the flavor of curry. One was spicier and was a mixture of ground meat, diced potatoes and other veggies in a thick sauce, with a layer of biscuits baked on top. It was delicious and DH's favorite. My favorite was a kind of souffle almost, because it seemed to be mostly eggs, with finely diced meat, (ham, I think) and veggies, flavored with a milder curry, and baked until pufffy and light - I couldn't get enough! My parents also liked these, but my in-laws wouldn't taste them (too exotic again). DD just nibbled again, but was happy with her fruit, bacon, and about 1 bite of egg. We all agreed that this meal was another A.
Skipped lunch again (it took most of the day to digest that breakfast!), and had dinner at the Biergarten in Germany. We were all really looking forward to trying this buffet, but we were all disappointed. Nothing was bad, but it was all mediocre, at best. The salads were okay, with the exception of a sweetened carrot salad which I thought was really good. The meats were okay (DD enjoyed the chicken shnitzel (sp?), which is a breaded cutlet). The spaetzle, which DH and I were anticipating, was okay. The desserts were limited and also just okay, except the strudel, which we all agreed was fantastic, esp. with vanilla sauce on the side. The entertainment, which we had also been anticipating, was short and very campy, but the kids had fun doing the polka on the dance floor in front of the stage. All in all, we agreed to give this meal a C+, and the plus is only because the strudel was so heavenly.
On the way back to the GF, everyone is dreaming of tomorrow's breakfast...;)
