My family was one of the lucky ones to win a free pass to an early screening today, compliments of the Disney Rewards program through my Disney Rewards Visa. There were also people there with passes from the soon to, ahem, expire, Disney Club. A few DVC members too.

Movie was good, I'll give it a 7.5 out of 10. Don't want to give to much away, but Madame Leota is a hoot.

Anyone want to take a guess at the dialog and character after the credits. I waited and my hunch was right !

Do any of you know why this did not come out around Halloween?

We saw it this morning aat the Buffalo pre-screening compliments of the Disney Club. We thought it was well done, and the extra stuff after the credits was exactly what I was hoping for especially since the opening was right on cue as well. The first thing the kids asked on the way out was if they could have the DVD. Just the right mix of funny and scary for kids (8 and 12 year old here).

The movies makes its nationwide premiere during Thanksgiving week when schools are out and people take vacation to be with their families. With schools out, kids are free to go to the movies, and Disney has hit their key demographic with this movie. While it would seem better suited to release a HM movie around Halloween, they will achieve a better box office during a vacation holiday week.

Now, my dw and I loved PoTC, but did not care for this movie. I thought that the plot was not very compelling. That Eddie Murphy's character did not really fit. It was VERY predictable. I think that I would have liked more references to the attraction.

The best acting performance was that of the daughter and the two "other" ghosts.

Disney could have done better imho.

Wanted to LOVE this movie, but I don't. The sets were cool, the music was good, I'd give it about 3/10. :( There were plenty of references to the attraction, but that couldn't save the movie.

I saw HM yesterday. It wasn't bad and it wasn't good. It is worth seeing and I am sure I will buy the DVD. ;)
I think it was a nice family movie. Not a block buster. But a good movie. I think the biggest block was too much time spent on the family that no one really cares about. ;) Other than for marketing purposes, kids were not even necessary in the movie and that showed.
It could have been better. It could have been worse.
Madame Leota showing rolling all over the place was ridiculous. Too over the top dumb.
Sit through all the credits if you see HM. :)

I saw it Wed and found it plesant....but it's not a movie I'd see twice or buy. I enjoy Eddie Murphy, but I think he was a little 'over' in comparison to the other performances....everyone else played their roles straight, or at least straighter than he did. I think that's why I felt the movie was kind of out of balance. I did laugh and I did jump once or twice, but most of that laughter related to the HM ride.

We also stayed through the credits, were the only two people who did so. If you know the ride, stay.

We saw HM today and thought it was pretty good! A good mixture of scary and funny. I also thought there were many references to the attraction. A few more and it may have been overblown. The effects and the sets were very cool. Acting was satisfactory, although Ramsley was great...very creepy. Plot was predictable but fine.

All in all, it was a fun movie, especially if you are familiar with the attraction. I'd say 7/10.
