Has anyone seen this? Mickey Mouse + NASCAR!

Not sure if it has been officially announced yet, I have not seen anything else about this, but it appears that Disney (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pete) are teaming up with the Daytona 500 and NASCAR?

I was looking for tickets to the race in California, and found this:

I would not be surprised to see a whole lot more merch...maybe even those Matchbox-like cars! With Mickey!

And isn't it funny that Disney World still has that track in front of the MK parking lot? I think they have a stock-car driving school there. Interesting.

I just got a Team Mickey Motorsports "pit crew type" shirt for my birthday. Got it fromt the Character Premier shop in Orlando. I wonder if it is tied into the WDW/Daytona thing?

Mickey will be the grand marshall for the 2004 Daytona 500!

Not sure if anyone will be racing anything special but if you go to Nascar.com and go to the store there are some items. I know for sure there is going to be 5 diecast cars made Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Pete if Nascar.com doesn't have them try RacingUSA.com.

It would be neat seeing Mickey tearing around a NASCAR track...

If you recall, Disney was one of the 3 top bidders to sponsor the cup. Nextel won out. There will also be several cars in the Daytona 500 with Disney paint schemes. Was kind of hoping Disney would have sponsored the cup and some how managed a race at WDW track - although they do not have enough seating or parking to do the race and parks. But it would have combined my 2 favorite past times - Disney and NASCAR!!!

NandP: I was just in Manhattan on Wednesday (12/3) for a taping of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" and I saw a Nascar with Mickey on it. I couldn't believe it. I was surprised. I had no idea they were teaming up. I remember the car was blue and it had a nice picture of Mickey Mouse on it. We were also near the Disney store in Manhattan (I think we were on West 57th Street over by Columbus ave.).

I went to the nascar.com website and bought the white hat and shirt. They are being shipped to me this week.

You'll love it!! I couldn't make up my mind between the white and red.. so I got both... now I notice DH is looking rather enviously at them.. and it's the girls in this family that are the Nascar fans!
Hmm.. but maybe I'll get him the blue one.. that way.. he'll still get a Mickey hat..and I can look at Daytona 500 Mickey while wearing my own!

Having been at WDW during speedweeks for the last 7 or 8 years I have always thought that WDW and Nascar were a good match.
Just think of all the different paint schemes. You could go from Characters to Hotels to parks to movies...... Is this a great Country or what ?
