Anyone here excersizing through Curves?

How is the program?

Are you seeing results?

How long have you been doing the Curves program?

How much time does it take weekly?

Any information would be appreciated.

Hi!

Anyone here excersizing through Curves?

I am and I am aware of a handful of others here who exercise there.

How is the program?
The program is fine. It is a circuit of strength training machines with "recovery" boards between each machine. You do each machine for 30 seconds (yes, I said seconds :) ) and then do some kind of cardio moves for 30 seconds on the recovery boards. The machines are hydraulic, so the faster you use them, the more resistance you get. And you exercise 2 sets of muscles on each machine.
I start sweating within the first 5 minutes or so.

Are you seeing results? How long have you been doing the Curves program?
I don't know yet because I just started last week, but others here have been doing it for quite a while. They measure you when you join and monthly after that, so I will know within a month whether there are any results. :)

How much time does it take weekly?
90 minutes. It takes 30 minutes to do the circuit (and then you stretch) and they only recommend that you come everyo other day in order to have your muscles rest on the off days.
They really promote the 30 minute time. They feel that anyone has 30 minutes to exercise.

Any information would be appreciated.

I would suggest that you give it a try. See what your Curves' days and times are and if they are convenient to you. Ask if they will give you a trial week to see if you like it.

Good Luck! :)

I've been going 3x per week for the past 14 months (OK - sometimes it's only twice!) I've lost 47 lbs & about 38 total inches. They measure you at your bust, waist, abdomen, hips, upperarms, thighs & calves. The ONLY place that I've not lost any inches is in my calves. I attribute that to the fact that that area is getting good muscle mass. I am not one to join a "health club" so this fits right into my lifestyle. I'm lucky that my Curves is open all day. (Most close for the afternoon - like closed from 1 - 3 or 4 pm)
I keep meaning to do an alternate activity when I don't go to Curves (like walking) but so far, I haven't.

You should be able to try the circuit before you agree to join. There is an enrollment fee & then a monthly fee of $29 - $39 and a one year commitment.

I just started Curves. Actually, I've been going this past week on a one-week free pass. I will be joining officially tonight. I really like it and I HATE to exercise. The time goes by fast because you are always moving. I have high hopes that I will do this 3x a week. I plan to go twice in the evening after work and Saturday mornings. The other night I stopped on my way home from work. I got there at 5:35, changed into my workout clothes, did the routine and was home by about 6:20 p.m. Not bad!!! By the way, I broke a sweat in no time!
