Is there a "safe" way to get smudges, fingerprints, etc. off of photographs? I've been using some supposedly safe gloves I found at a scrapbook store to wipe everything off after I mount it in the book, but I began wondering if I was doing unintentional damage in the long run. Does anyone know?

I was shown at a CM party to use a cotton ball to get all the fingerprints off of the photos.

I was always told to use a nylon. so if there is a product out there I would say it is prob. safe. call a local photographer. They should know for sure.

The best way to clean a photograph is lighter fluid (I use Ronsonal) and 100% cotton. I know it sounds odd, but I am a professional photographic artist and have been using it for years. It will take everything off, even ink. And it dries fast too so you don't have to worry about the emulsion being soft.

I use a micron cleaning cloth for glasses. You can get them at Sunglass Hut or other sunglass stores for $5 or so. They work great and don't scratch your photos!

TXTink: what is it with photos and cats? My cat loves to lick any photos that are left around. He does this to the photo developer ones. I have used digital the past 2 years and he has no desire to lick those!! Is there something in the chemicals that tickle his fancy??? Just thought I would ask!
