We booked for eight nights in January 2002. We got a 2BDr at VWL for 5 nights and two rooms at Poly for 3 nights. Considering Poly is non-DVC, what type of room should we expect? Can we request different views? Can we upgrade at check-in?
Thanks!

Hello wdwfreak...
when staying at a non-dvc resort at Disney, the room type you get is "run of the house." That basically means that you get whatever is available and whatever the room controller happens to give you.
You can make whatever request you like and should re-iterate your request at check-in.
I have heard of at least one DVCer getting concierge when they checked in at the Poly using points, but that was a special instance because they overbooked regular rooms.
Bottom line is.....expect to be in a garden room at the complete opposite end of the resort compared to where you want to be. Then let yourself be pleasantly suprised if you get what you request.

When we used points to stay at DxL (oops PO-FQ) this past March we were asked if we wanted a "standard" or "preferred" view. Points being the same for both we requested a preferred view. I also requested to stay at Magnolia Terrace and that is exactly what we got!!! Can't help to request. Oh! I called the resort directly 2-3 days prior to arrival!!!!!!!
