I have done OK this week and I am pleased to have lost the first 2lb of my 20lb for the New Year Challenge. I have not lost anything in the couple of days since my official weigh-in day - which is Monday. To be honest, though I am happy with the 2lb, I was hoping for 3lb by today because then I would finally get my 25lb clippie!!

Things I have done well this week - stuck to plan - Atkins Induction - without a single cheat!
Things to improve next week - drink more water - I am really letting that slide a bit - I just don't really feel like water in colder weather! Also I need to make sure I do WATP Two Miles ar least five times before next Thursday - I have to make sure I am truely a reformed exercise hater!!
Main Goal for next week - loose at least 1lb so I can get my new clippie!!

Well, how has everyone else done? I am looking forward to hearing about it today or at your next official weigh-in!! What have you done well or not so well this week? Any particular challenges you will face next week - meals out or anything?

Please do check-in I can't wait to see how we are all doing!
One week down, eight to go, until New Year!

I am down 3 lbs. 12 more to go.

I am a little concerned about this week because we are going to NYC this weekend. But I have planned out what I hope to eat. So it's all up to me sticking to my plan.

Good luck everybody!

I can't believe it but I lost 6 pounds - yay! Of course, I'm still doing induction so it should be that much! I must say, I've never been so sick of eggs in my life (but not enought to stop, of course). The next 14 shouldn't be so bad....somebody please tell me that's true!

Claire4dpins
11-06-2003, 08:22 AM
PAdisMOM - very well done on the 3lb that is a really great start to your 15lb!! Good luck with the trip to NYC - hopefully you should be able to find lots of options so you can stick to your plan as much as possible! Good luck with it!!

kasar - how fantastic it feels to have a big loss like that - good for you!! 6lb really knocks a whole lot off you mini-goal and you have Eight more weeks to loose the other 14lb so you should be able to do it! I know what you mean about the eggs - I am on Atkins and sticking to Induction rules for a while yet (as I have quite a lot of pounds to loose!) - and some mornings I do think 'no, not eggs again!!'

Can't wait to hear how everyone else is doing,

I'm happy to report another 3 pounds gone this week (earning me a gorgeous GOLD clippie), which brought me to my first 10% goal. Woohoo! That puts me at 3/19 for the challenge.

Keep up the great work, everyone!

Wow AprilN - what a lot of good news in your post - 3lb is such a good start to this challenge - good for you!

Well done on getting to that 10% mark and the gold clippie looks wonderful on you!
Many Congratulations,

Hi everyone! I have lost 2.5 pounds since last thursday. That is a bit high for me and I have been sick with a cold this week. So I am wondering if I may gain a bit back when I am feeling better. If not that is 2.5/12 for me.
Everyone is doing so well so far. And just think, this is only the first week. How gorgeous will we all be at those New Years parties!::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Well, no loss this week so I'm 0/16 but the GREAT NEWS is that I have gotten way back on track with my walking and haven't missed a scheduled walk- I'm walking 4 miles for 3 days straight then off a day- so I'm averaging 24 miles a week!!! :) And I started TOM this week so I KNOW I'll be one step closer to that 16 pound total loss by my weigh in next Tuesday!!! Can't WAIT!!!!!

COME ON- 2004 is just around the corner!!! :)

Let's LOSE LOSE LOSE!!! :)

No loss for me either I'm afraid - still 0/15, but TOM for me too, so hopefully I'll have a visit from the whoosh fairy in time for the next check in!

Way to go everyone you are all doing brilliantly. Even if you maintained you still posted :hyper: I lost 1lb this week, so that puts me at 1/20. Hope that you all have a good week. Onward and downward everyone ::yes::

Claire4dpins
11-07-2003, 03:33 AM
Thanks for checking in you guys!!

mommyflower - well done with the 2.5lb! Sorry you have been feeling ill - hope your feeling better by now. You seem to be aware of your ups and downs - but fingers crossed you won't gain it back!! It is great to think of being slimmer by those parties isn't it!

lmhall2000 - Good for you with the walking - 24 miles a week is going to keep you really fit!! I guess having lost over 50lbs already you are used to the weeks where you don't loose. I am sure you are correct & by Tuesday you will be seeing the scale move downwards again!!

AlisonB - I am sure TOM & the BF have been with you this week and that the Whoosh Fairy will arrive by next week to start you on your way to the 15lb you want to loose by New Years! Thanks for posting even though you didn't loose this week - we will all have weeks like that!

catherine - Well done on loosing that pound - I remember from your posts in the main check-in thread that you have had some pretty good losses each week for a while - you should really be able to see the changes you are making now!! And hopefully another 20lb by New Year - hope this week goes well for you!

Looking forward to seeing a few others check-in - let us all know how you are doing!
Onwards & Downwards,

Ok, not a real great start for this challenge, but I stayed the same this week - better than a negative number next to my loss I guess (meaning better than a gain!)

I'll check in again next week and hopefully have something good to report. I picked a lower achievable number - now I hope it is doable. I bet the WF will hit me one week of this and save me! ;-)

0/20 for me, but that will change next week. I'm starting induction tomorrow! I've had some personal and family "trauma" these past weeks so it's been a little rough but I'm excited to start Atkins again.

See you next week!!

I am so glad more people are checking in - thanks guys!!

IrishAngel - 1.5lbs seems pretty good to me - well done you! You are right slow & steady is the best way to go!

JenEeyore - Sorry you didn't have a loss this week - I am sure that you will see some results of your hard work next week! Tem pounds is cetainly doable - and you are right hopefully the WF is near by ready to give things a little push in the right direction.

mum4jenn - 1 more pound down & you have already achieved so much!! Each little step is getting you nearer to where you want to be - right?

disnygoof - Sorry you have been having some problems the past few weeks - I hope things are coming back to normal for you. Youshouls see some results from your change to Atkins - good luck with induction - hope you don't feel to sickly!! I read your other post about your reasons for changing and it sounds like you have it worked out - so I am sure you will be seeing some results by next week! Thanks again for making the clippie!

Still a few more people to check in - come on let us know how you did!

Thanks for checking in & well done on moving downwards!!

honeymo78 - Well done on the two pounds - what a great start to the challenge - with eight weeks to go I am sure the other 16 are in your sights!!

mum4jenn - another 2lbs good for you!! I will add that loss to the totals in next Thursdays check-in thread.

kayeandjim00 - .8 of a pound is nearly 1lb and you are moving in the right direction so do keep it up! Fingers crossed that you see a little more for your efforts next week.

Debbie - 1lb gone towards your goal - good for you! We all have those weeks where we seem to loose and gain the same pound or two - I think that is the week I am having this week!! Hope you have a more settled week next week!!

jillwdw - don't worry you didn't miss the check-in many people are sticking to their regular weigh-in day, any time between the Thursaday & the following Wednesday is fine!! Good for you loosing 2lbs this week - you're heading on down the right way towards your goal there!!

Good job everyone, Onwards & Downwards we go,

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Second Check-in 11/13/03

Hello All - hope you have all had a great second week!!

I have stayed the same again this week - so I am still 2/20 for this challenge - I am not really sure where I am going wrong - I am not drinking enough water - but I had thought I was in my carbs limit - I am still on induction rules and plan to be for a long time yet!! I am really hoping for a Whoosh Fairy visit soon! Still seven weeks of the challenge left so plenty of time to get rid of some of those pounds!!

How has everyone else done this week? Kept up with the exercise? I hope you have all done better than me with your water!!
Can't wait to read how you are all getting along!!
Claire:wave:

Well, I thought it was going to be a stalled week, but I ended up losing another 6 pounds (thanks, WF, and everyone else that assured me that it would eventually catch up!) for a total of 12 out of 20 lbs.

Everyone's doing so well on this challenge. Thanks, Claire4pins for organizing!

I lost .5 pounds this week. Which makes me 3/12. I am finally starting to feel better as my cold/cough is starting to go away. Almost two weeks of coughing is awful. What is really rough is that we leave for MIL for thanksgiving on thanksgiving morning. From there we go to WDW. So I am starting to feel a little stressed because not only do I need to get ready for the trip, but I need to catch up on all the house work and things that didn't get done while I was sick. And TOM is just a few days away. My plan is to try to take it slow and steady, so I don't start to get stressed and start to eat poorly. Wish me luck!:) I hope everyone else is doing well this week. With Thanksgiving two weeks away, I am sure others might be stressing over that trip to the relatives or the relatives trip to your house. Let's all take a breath and say I Can Do This!!!:p

Well, no loss this week so I'm still 3/15.

I'm not upset about this because I was hoping to maintain this week. We went to NYC this weekend and maintaining is a victory!!

I got right back OP on Sunday night as soon as we returned. I also made some changes to my program that I'm really happy with. I changed my WW to start with dinner instead of breakfast. I changed my week to start Sunday night instead of Thursday morning. And I started to eat my activity points (but they can only be used for a fruit or a dairy). This has felt like a fresh start for me!!:bounce:

Another 3 pounds gone for me, which puts me at 6/19 for the challenge. Things are still going great! Tomorrow night is a birthday dinner for my mom, where I'll need to keep a focus on making good choices - but I believe I can do it!

Keep up the great work, everyone.

Good to see everyone checking in and it seems like most have had a good week!

kasar - how fantastic - you must feel good - another 6lbs gone - very well done. I read your post where you thought you weren't going to loose this week and look how it turned out!! PLEASE send the whoosh fairy to me I need a visit badly!!!

mommyflower - glad you are starting to feel better - two weeks of being ill must have been difficult and your system is not working as normal which makes the weight loss tough - so good for you on the .5lb. I hope the getting ready for thanksgiving & the trip to WDW is going well and has not been as stressful as you thought so far. Focus on the fun to come in difficult moments.

PAdisMOM - hope the trip to NYC was a good one - looks like planning where you were going to eat worked out - very good job maintaing and getting right back on program!! Sounds like you have a great new start planned there so I hope you see reults by next week!!

catherine - another 3lbs - you should feel proud of yourself - think how much smaller you will be for this trip to WDW!! You must be getting excited now!!

AprilN - 6lbs of this challenge gone for you already - you are doing so well!! With the progress you are making I am sure you made some good choices at the birthday dinner! Hope next week is just as good for you!

AlisonB - another 2lbs down - keep up the good work and you will have you goal of 15 done by New Year! I hope you are having a good week.

I am so glad I started this challenge because I need some of your positive energy to hit me this week! I really need to loose something this week - I want my new clippie so badly. I feel like I am doing the right things but not loosing - I need to read your posts to keep me focused!!

Looking forward to seeing others check-in,

Good morning everyone! Just checking in with my 2 lb. loss this week, making it 14/20. I was thinking of upping my goal but it seems if things are slowing down a bit so I think I'll keep it at 20 lbs. for now. I was hoping for more this week since I've stepped up my exercise routine but that may take a while to register. I've resisted Dunkin' Donuts for three weeks, though!

Hi:wave2:
I lost one pound this week. That makes me 4/12. This time next week I will be heading to MIL's for thanksgiving and then to WDW. I will be gone until 12/8 so I'm going to miss a couple check ins. I just hope to atleast maintain while WDW. I know it might be tough to avoid some of the temptations, but I think I can do it.
Good luck to everybody. I know this challenge might become a bit more difficult because of all the holiday goodies that are starting to appear everywhere. I know we can do it! And if you do slip up, don't beat yourself up. Just forget about it and get back on plan. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

Well, I'll use my weigh in from today (Thursday) because my Tuesday weigh in showed no loss- but today I showed a 1 pound loss so I'm down 2 for my goal so far- I want to get to 169 by New Year's and I'm at 183 today. I am back to slimfasting- I've had a lot of stress lately that could make it hard for me to lose with all the comfort food I would normally go for - so atleast if I do comfort myself it's only one meal of the day. We will probably have to sell our house and relocate across two states- and doing this right before the holidays is making my head spin. So really, I'll be thrilled with any loss between now and then- I just can't seem to focus on losing weight right now.

I lost 1 pound this week. But now i'm really going to through a wrench into my mix. I have changed my WW goal from 125 to 130. My New Year's goal was my WW goal. So my goal is now 10 rather than 15. SOOOO... I am 4/10 for new Years. I hope this doesn't mess any thing up.

I will not reach my thankgiving challeng goal, but i really think that I will reach my New years goal

2 pounds gone this week, putting me at 8/19 for the challenge. Right on track! I can't wait to show off my new slimmer body during all those family holiday get-togethers - most people don't know that I've been losing weight!

Keep it up, everyone!

Yippie! I lost 2.4 pounds! You can mark it as "2" and I'll save the few ounces for next week :).

I bought a nalgene water bottle in the prettiest green color. It really helps me to have something handy and attractive to drink my water from. My DD has decorated it with stickers from her ballet class, so there is no question who it belongs to. I also bought a "splash guard" that fits inside the mouth of the bottle so I don't get spashed in the face when I trink on the treadmill :).

Hi Guys - great to hear how you are getting on thanks for checking in!!

kasar - another 2lb - well done you!! 14 gone since starting the challenge - you must be feeling & looking great! I think you were right not to up you goal - the hardest days are ahead of us with the holiday food temptations!! Maybe your new goal can be to see how far over your goal you could get!!

catherine - you keep making good progress - 6/20 you are right on track to get to your goal - well done.

mommyflower - well done getting rid of 1lb this week!! Your post is so right and something all of us need to think about - the toughest days are coming up now - we need to think carefully about our choices and try to stick with our plans as well as we can. I am not sure if you will be checking in next week before you go or not - but have a good time with your family and at WDW. Have loads of fun & don't worry if you have a few treats - you deserve it!!

lmhall2000 - Tara - another 1lb bites the dust - good stuff!! I am so sorry you are under so much stress - moving is one of the most stressful things we go through even under the best circumstances - so you are doing it tough. You have made a positive decision to use Slimfast - I am sure it will help you a little with the comfort eating. Hugs to you!

PAdisMOM - well done another pound down!! I am sure you have made the right decision about changing your goal - you must be able to feel what is right for your body. It must feel great to be just a few pounds from your goal - go for it!!

AprilN - you are doing so well - and you are right - just think how good you will look at holiday events with the progress you have made!! Another 2lbs gone forever!!

robinb - fantastic a 2lb loss for the challenge - what a great start for you!! A special water bottle sounds like a good idea - I need all the help I can get to drink my water!! Good luck on the treadmill this week!!

Keep going guys,
Claire:wave:

I didn't get a chance to check in last week, but I had gone down .8 last week and then 1.8 this week for a total of 2.6 on this challenge. Hoping I can still make my mini-goal by the end of the year, but I seem to have slow weeks and then faster weeks, so hopefully it will round out.

So far not off to a great start for this week, but other weeks have started off worse, and ended sucessfully and next week is my TOM, so sometimes I get a bigger loss then for some reason - we'll see.

Not much time to surf today, but wanted to take a minute while DS was napping to do a quick check in. Hope everyone has a great week!

My first check in was zero (I had just started Atkins).

My second check in, down 1/20. Not as much as I'd hoped but I think my TOM is on its way. :( M

My weigh in days are Weds so my next one will be 11/26. See ya then!

Sorry for not checking in sooner, but I forgot I joined in on this challenge until just now. Also, I started a new job on November 1 and for the last few days I have been sick, so I have spent less time on the computer than I used to. I am down 2.4/5, so I am half way there. I am not sure how I am going to fare over the holidays, but I am still working my way onward and downward. Congrats to all, you all are doing such a great job.

Hello All - I hope you are enjoying the week and have decided on your Thanksgiving eating plans! Try and make good choices but have fun & don't be too hard on yourself. I am a lucky Brit here with no thanksgiving dinner to think about - make sure you all have fun!

JenEeyore - thanks for posting and 2.6lb is an excellent start to the challenge - you are right about the up and down weeks - bigger & smaller losses - I bet you can get to your target!

AlisonB - another pound gone is good stuff - well done you - there are still six weeks left of the challenge to get closer to that target - go for it!

disnygoof - hi, don't worry about not checking in - we all get to busy sometimes! Well done on the first pound for the challenge - I wish you a big whoosh fairy visit by the 26th - to get your further on your way!

honeymo78 - a pound gone excellent - 10lb is doable in the time left for the challenge - go for it!!

Debbie - well done on the 2lb - I really hope that makes you feel better after a couple of slow weeks! I wish you a whoosh for next week to move you closer to the 13lb!!

I lost 4lbs this week which puts me at 10/20, so I'm half way to my New Year goal. However, I have a 16 day trip to WDW starting on Sun. so I may not be half way to my goal when I get back :hyper:

But I'm down again on this Tuesday- my official weigh day- I think I'm 3/16 for my New Year goal- I forget what I weighed when I started but I was at 182 this morning! YEAH!!! I have new motivation- just MAKE IT THROUGH THESE HOLIDAYS!! :) If I can get close to my New Years goal I'll be THRILLED. CONGRATS to all you guys who are plugging away and CHEERS to those of you like me who have had stalled weeks - you'll see the losses soon!!!

Great more check-ins - well done all!!

tiggerlover - I am so sorry I missed your post - you & I posted at the same time and I didn't read any posts above my last one - sorry!! 2.4lb - half way to you goal for this challenge is excellent - you are doing so well - especially with the stress of a new job to get used to! Hope you're feeling better!

catherine - another 4lb - you are doing SO well - I do wish I knew your secret!! Just think how great you are going to look and feel at WDW in a few days time! If you gain a little I am sure you will loose it and be back on track quickly. Have fun on holiday!!

lmhall2000 - well done on your next pound for the challenge! I agree that the tough times are here and we need all the motivation we can get to meet the challenge! if we can see any loss through this holiday season we will all be doing well!!

I'm going to check in today because who knows what tomorrow has in store!

Well, I'm officially baffled by this whole Atkins thing! Up until this morning I hadn't lost one ounce despite doing everything by the book - I've cut out cheese and my daily sugar-free jello snack because I thought they were slowing me down, I'm still at induction levels and I've really stepped up the exercising. This morning I wanted to weigh in but was worried because I felt a bit "puffy" and bloated (not even TOM). Well, what do you know? I actually lost another 2 lbs. Whew, because I must tell you, I was thinking of throwing in my towel but now I'm back in the game.

So, count me as 16/20. I'm almost there and hoping I can get through the next few weeks (and tomorrow, of course) in one piece. I don't know if I'll be able to resist stuffing and potatoes tomorrow, but I'm sure going to try.

I hope that all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving (to our friends outside the U.S. - we are thankful for your friendship and ongoing WISH support, too!). I know that I have so much to be thankful for and hopefully by next T-day I'll be celebrating my new slim self!

Well I'm down another 1.4 lbs this morning. So that's 2.4/20. I'm not doing as well as I hoped, especially since people USUALLY lose a lot the first few weeks. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Maybe I'm holding water (TOM) but for 2 weeks? I'm happy with the loss and I know I'll get there eventually, but I don't know if I'll make my New Year's goal at this rate. And ya'll are doing so well! I feel like a loser compared to everyone else in this challenge!

Let's hope for a better loss next week!

Week Four Check-in 11/27 HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

I see people have started to record there check-ins for this week already - great and glad to see you checking in!! Happy Thanksgiving to all celebrating today - hope you have a wonderful day with friends & family - don't be tough on yourself if you stray a little!! We are four weeks down - but still have aother five to hit our goals - go for it guys!!

jazyjewel - Welcome to the challenge - so glad you decided to join us - sorry you are in a stall right now - but I wish you the whoosh fairy to get started on your 15lb target for the challenge!!

AprilN - WOW - 3lb of you gone - how great is that & over half way on your goal for the challenge - that must feel good! Congratulations on doing so well!

tiggerlover - what a lot of proress to that goal well done and we still have 5 weeks left! You could up your goal when you reach it or you could see just how far over that goal you could get! Well done on another good week!

kasar - I know what you mean about the Atkins - I have had exactly the same experience often & the one where you are up a little on your weigh day. But if you like what you are eating & the weight is coming off slow & steady stick with it!! Another 2lbs - you have done fantastically 16 for the challenge gone already and with five weeks left even if your weight loss slows you should do it!!

disnygoof - so sorry you don't feel to be doing well - but each pound gone is progress and is leading to a fitter healthier you! Are you recording everything you eat & drink - that helps to keep me focussed and may give some clue if you are going off program somewhere? Try & drink as much water as you can possibly take in! Sending you PD & hope for a whoosh fairy visit!!

I got so excited talking to everyone else - I forgot to tell you how I did this week!! 1lb down - was hopping for more but slow & steady I am making progress! I am at 6/20 for the challenge - so I have some work to do in the next five weeks!

Good job to everyone this week for their progress - keep motivated through the end of the year and beyond!!!

Hi, everyone. I want to jump into the challenge now that the Thanksgiving Day one is finished. I was 10/10 on that challenge, but over the vacation weekend I gained three (gulp) pounds!! I'm ready to get back on track!

My current weight is 180; my goal is to lose 10 lbs. and to be wearing my 20 lb. clippie by New Year's Day!

Here's to a new me in the new year. . .

Well before Thanksgiving I was at 180 but now I'm up to 182/183. I know I didn't eat well over the holidays - lots of eating with friends, family and then fast food while I was working at the mall. I'll definitely make some better choices this week and hopefully see those lbs come back off again.

Hello Guys!!

Sorry I have not really been around this week to see how everyone is doing - I have been thinking of you guys though!!

A1A1 - welcome to the challenge - the more the merrier!! Hope you can do the 9lb - even with the WDW trip! Most of us are using the challenge to help with added holiday temptations so we have something extra to focus on - I hope it helps you stick to program as much as possible on vacation to! Thanks for joining us!!

JenEeyore - another 3lbs - how great is that - you must feel so proud of yourself - very well done! Over half way to your goal - you can do it!!

AlisonB - another 2lbs - that is excellent - good for you! A third of the way to your goal for this challenge - keep going!!

jillwdw - 2lb up - never mind I bet the new week has gone much better! It was a holiday time & I do think at times it is important to just enjoy ourselves!! Don't feel too bad because I am sure you are right back on track now - the point of this challenge was that this was one of the toughest times of the year and I am sure almost all of us are going to have little slips. Thanks for checking in - I am sure it helps everyone to know they are not the only one who struggles and has ups and downs!!

catherine - sorry to have missed saying goodbye to you - well done on the 2lb!! I hope you are having fun right now - staying on program as much as you can - but having FUN!!!

lulu201 - glad to see you with us - well done on making your Thanksgiving goal! Don't feel too bad about the holiday gain - I am sure you will loose that pretty quick and be back on track. Good luck with the 10lb goal and I look forward to seeing you check-in here!!

honeymo78 - working & all those family gatherings - over a time like Thanksgiving eating on plan isn't our main focus - I am sure by now those gained pounds are disappearing!! Thanks for checking in though you had a gain - we all have bumps in the road or it wouldn't be real life!!

jazyjewel - wow, what a great start to your challenge with 4.5lb gone - that is fantastic!! I hope your are enjoying WDW - making good choices where you can - but most important - having a blast on vacation!!

Thanks to all of you for checking in and sharing progress good and bad - now thanksgiving is over we have the other seasonal events to get through - hope everyone makes the best choices they can!

Well, I am down 2lb again - which I am very pleased with mostly because I have made it to my 30lb clippie here on WISH - and boy that has felt a long and difficult way off at times!! I am finding staying on program really tough at the moment - with Christmas and family birthdays - including mine!! - fast approaching - but I really want to hang on to this clippie - so heres hoping for the best in the coming few weeks!!

How have you guys done - can't wait to hear!!

Okay guys and gals - I'm not doing so well on this challenge and unless a miracle occurs, I'm not going to make my goal. So I'm going to re-set my goal (I know that's kind of cheating, but I set a really UNrealistic goal for myself, which I always do.) So I'm going to strive for 5 lbs by the end of this month. Is that okay? I'm so sorry - but if I keep my goal at what it is now, I'll feel awful at the end of the month when I don't make it. I'm going to also join the ONEderland by Spring Challenge which is definitely more doable for me.
Thanks for understand!!

I guess I did better over Thanksgiving than I realized at first, because I'm so happy to announce the disappearance of another 4 pounds this week. Woo-hoo! That puts me at 15/19 for the challenge.

I'm thinking about setting a new goal of 23 total pounds gone for this challenge, which will put me at 50 pounds total on WISH. Who knows, maybe I'll make it. :p 19 pounds is still definitely my primary goal, though.

Keep up all the great work, one and all!

Hey everyone! Life is crazy around here and I completely missed yesterday's check in. I am down 1/2 a pound which seems pretty good except for the fact that I was down 2 pounds a couple of days ago! I've been running the school's holiday fundraiser which has severely cut into my exercise schedule (not to mention my water schedule - can't be running to the ladies' room every 2 minutes!). So, I'm okay with this loss, hopefully next week will be better.

I had a planned cheat the other night. I went out with a bunch of ladies for a little pre-holiday party and I had a glass of wine and a slice of chocolate cake, yes, chocolate cake. It was WONDERFUL and I don't regret it for a minute. Back on induction......

Hello Everyone - hope you're all having a successful week!

lulu201 -so glad you had a visit from the whoosh fairy - but remember you did the hard work to get her there!! Well done on the four pounds - good for you!

tiggerlover - another.2 down - excellent work - you are nearly at your goal for this challenge - how great does that feel? Brilliant!!

disnygoof - I know you are doing it tough from your other posts - but good for you for sticking with it! It is fine to change your goal - we should never let numbers put pressure on us or make us feel like we aren't succeeding! You are a success - you have lost nearly 43lb - how wonderful is that! Go for it to the 5lb!!

AprilN - 4lb gone - you are doing so well!! 15lbs since the start of this challenge is excellent work! Post again or PM me if you want me to change your goal!!

kasar - well done with the half pound - and I am glad you had fun with your planned cheat - we all need to have a little of the things we love from time to time! Hope the hoilday fundraiser went well!

JenEeyore - you are well past the half way point on your challenge now - great! Well done on getting rid of another half pound!! Here's to success with the last 4lb of the challenge for you!

Onward & Downward we go,

Christiana, I'm with you. There is no way that I can make my challenge. I lost a pound this week :bounce: putting me at 4/13. I cannot make 9 more by the new year, so I'll be happy if I maintain (I seem to have THAT down pat  ) and I'll be ecstatic if I can get my 70 pound clippie. Still something to aim for, but the way that I have stalled, and my weird "holiday schedule" with the kids and rehearsals and concerts and get togethers, I have to be realistic. Oh, and I am NOT weighing myself every day---once a week will do. Take heart! We can do this, albeit s-l-o-w-l-y.

Congrats to the rest of you that are on track (or zooming past the station!) Weigh to go! Keep up the good work!

Hello Guys!!

Six weeks of the challenge gone - to me the time seems to have flown by!! Lots of us, me included, are going to find our goals a little tough to meet, but don't let numbers bother you too much!! I am glad I started this challenge as it as helped keep me on program even when temptations have been strong! I hope it is being some help to you all as well!! Three weeks of the challenge left to try to loose a few more pounds & I wish us all good luck!

My news for this week is that I stayed the same - I wish I had lost - but there you go! I was trying to add more carbs in the form of veg to my diet - I also - for the first time - added the wonderful treat of jelly & cream twice in the past week. I have been finding induction rules very diffficult to stick to - I have been on induction for the past nine weeks now & was beginning to find it frustrating!! New week starts here!

So how have you done? I know it gets tougher each week now with holiday treats everywhere - but do share how you have done!

I'm back from MIL's and WDW. The last time I posted I was 4/12. I met my thanksgiving goal of 5 pounds, so that made me 5/12. But I gained 1 pound during vacation, but I have lost 1/2 pound since getting back. So now that makes me 4.5/12. Sorry if that was confusing I just wanted to let everyone see how I did while at WDW. I know a lot of us wonder how we will do on vacation. I don't know if I will make my goal, but I 'm going to try to get as close as I can.
I think Claire is right, the numbers aren't really the most important thing. We are all getting more healthy and losing those pounds. It doesn't matter if you get it done by New Year's, just as long as you keep on striving for your goal. Good luck this week everyone!:sunny:

Thanks again to all of you (especially Claire) for continuing this thread and being such great cheerleaders. I KNOW that I've been kept in line knowing that I needed to check in once a week. kasar - you one of the biggest success stories in our little group & boy should you be proud of yourself!! Can't wait to celebrate with you next week - getting to goal & beyond!!

AprilN - another person who has done fantastically well!! Another three pound this week - how great is that!! At 18/23 & with you making such good progress I am sure you can make your new mini-goal!!

jazyjewel - hugs to you & thanks for checking in - I hope you had tons of fun at WDW - and well done on loosing the 4lb you gained! Don't put pressure on yourself about the numbers & just try to stick to your plan as much as you can this week!

AlisonB - this is the time with the most treats & temptations around so I really do believe it is hard work not to gain at this time! Well done of loosing the pound you gained and the best of luck with the coming week!!

Everyone - please check-in if you can - and don't focus on the numbers of your goal if you are struggling (like I am!!) just make the best choices you can & if you cheat DO NOT beat yourself up about it - just take the next day as it comes.

Hello All - hope you have all had a good week - I hope to see as many as possible checking in to share how they are doing!!

I feel we are really at the tough end of the challenge now - two weeks left but those two weeks contain Christmas & New Years!! It will be a real acheivement to loose during these two weeks - and if you stay the same you will have done some fantastic work! If you gain remember - there aren't holiday parties & family gatherings like this every week of the year & the New Year brings a new start!

Well, I am pleased with the past week - I cut back the few extras like jelly & more low carb veg I had added - so I was back to induction rules again. I lost 2lb this week - which after no loss last week I am delighted with. I am so pleased to now be in the 180s!! I am 10/20 for the challenge - so I have no chance of making it to my goal - but at least I am half way there!! What was I thinking!?! I ate breakfast today before I came to work and weighed myself. Plus during dance class last night I helped myself to the snacks that everyone brought in. Dance a little...snack a little...

So put me down for a loss of 1 pound. I'll weigh myself on Monday before breakfast to get a more accurate number.

Good luck everyone!

I'm a little nervous about making it, with all the celebratory meals coming up over the next two weeks, not to mention a week-long trip to my in-laws. Sorry, I didn't check in last week, but didn't make it to WW weigh in, and so didn't have anything to post. This week I am down another 1.6 lbs, so I've updated my signature with new totals. - Not totally sure if I'll make my year end goal, but I should be pretty close if next couple of weeks go well. We don't have WW mtgs the next 2 Wednesdays due to holiday closings, so I will have to go by my home scale for totals.

Yesterday had a HUGE food day, so hopefully I can make up for it in the next week to keep down. We had a nice Turkey dinner at work for lunch for a "Snowflake Luncheon" for the end of the year, and I didn't hold back - including piece of pie and then last night we went to a movie and I chowed on popcorn, Twislers and Dippin' Dots. Calked it up to one wild day, and got back on track today.

Hope everyone has a great week!

I'm going to be on vacation starting this afternoon (heading to the airport in a few minutes!), and I'm not sure if I'll have access to a computer, so here's my check-in a couple of days early.

I did it! I made my New Year's goal, a week early. After a whopping 5 pound loss this week, my total for the challenge is 25/23. Yippee!

Have the merriest of Christmasses, one and all!

I'm happy I've lost any at all- but kind of bummed that I won't be close to my goal. I think I listed 169 as my New Year's goal- we'll I was at 178 this morning- so at best I may hit 175 by then. My husband and I found out 4 weeks ago that his job would be gone 1/23 (company lost government contract) so we've spent the last four weeks focusing on his career and travelling to interviews. Just last week he received an offer that was acceptable- not the company he'd like but they made him a good offer he couldn't refuse. So I was able to turn my focus back on myself and losing- and by low-carbing for a week I've lost 6 pounds. I'm gonna push for 175 by New Year's and try and be good this last week by avoiding as many sugars as I can! :) I'm sooooo impressed with everyone- whether you hit goal or blew past it- because you hung in there and didn't give up!! It's sooo easy to do this time of year. Have a very merry Christmas everyone!

I lost 5lbs this week, so that puts me at 16/20. This challenge is going to be great motivation to help me stay OP over the holidays. I don't think that I will be able to reach my goal be new year, but I will give it a good go and try and get as close to it as I possibly can. Congratulations to all those who have reached their goals and good luck to those of us who are still working to reach it :hyper:

About 1/2 lb for me this week. Stalling out, but at least not up. We didn't have a WW meeting this week due to the holiday, our center was closed on Wed, so my WI is on my home scale, but I think it is pretty accurate - digital. I think not having the WI at WW did a mental game with me a bit, as my resolve wasn't as firm this week, but it is also TOM, so that messes things up anyways.

I will check in next week for final tally. It is borderline if I will make my mini-goal or not, but it is at least close, and it inspired me to keep motivated these past few weeks - thanks to all for the support shared with the group!

Hi everyone! I lost 2.5 pounds this week, so that makes me 7.5/12. I have been sick with viral conjunctivitis that I got from my DS coughing or sneezing in my face. It has been making me sick to my stomach so I haven't been eating much. It made for a not so great Christmas. Hopefully it is starting to go away. I hope everyone had a better holiday than I did. Good luck this week!:sunny:

JenEeyore - well done on the half pound - I wouldn't feel bad about that - especially with this being holiday time!! I am glad checking in with the group has helped keep you on track!

mommyflower - I am so sorry you have been ill over Christmas!! I hope you are feeling better by now & having some late holiday fun!! 2.5 pounds is excellent - but not at the cost of being so ill!! Thanks for taking the time to check-in!

Hope everyone else has had a good holiday week - I hope others have been on program a little more than me!!
Onwards & Downwards,

I can't believe it, I reached my goal :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I thought that after losing 5lbs last week there was no way that I was going to lose another 4 this week. However I decided that even if I didn't get to my goal I was going to get as close as possible, so I kept on plugging away. Anyway I weighed myself this morning and I have lost 4lbs. I am soooo excited to have reached my goal of 20lbs, especially with the trip to WDW and Christmas thrown in. I stood in the kitchen this morning looking at the piles of chocolate and other goodies thinking eating any of this would not have tasted as good as losing the 4lbs feels. This makes me even more motivated now, so I know that I can get past New year without cheating!! :hyper:

Well, here we are everyone - New Years Day & the start of a New Year & the end of this challenge!! Thanks so much to everyone for joining me in this - I have found the support of others very helpful & I hope others agree!

Reading back over the thread we have had our ups & downs - but generally people have made progress in the right direction which is the important thing. I am looking forward to seeing as many people as possible check-in so we can - see how we have done!

I have not weighed in yet - as I have had a couple of days staying with friends & I have been indulging in holiday treats. Had no chance to weigh this morning so I will have to report on my news tomorrow!!

catherine - you made your goal - how great is that - you have made such good progress! You did so well at WDW last month - you are a real example!! 20lbs lighter to start 2004 - what a fantastic feeling that must be - congratulations!!

Happy New Year to all - hope to see more checking in,

Since beginning the challenge, I lost 7 lbs. I didn't quite make my goal, but I'm thrilled that I didn't finish the holiday season heavier than I started!

Congratulations to everyone who was brave enough to even TRY a challenge during the holiday season!:Pinkbounc

Happy New Year, everyone!:bounce:

Ok, the final check in is here! I haven't had official WI's at WW center for last couple of weeks because they have been closed on Wednesdays due to the holidays, but my home scale is digital and pretty accurate, so I'm going with it. I didn't quite make my goal for this mini-challenge, but made it pretty close, and it at least gave me something to focus on.

I got to 9 of 10 lb goal!!!! I haven't been as motivated lately, but still have been hanging in there.

We don't celebrate the holidays for religious reasons, but this month has still been harder due to different social gatherings, and more food related treats at work lately. Plus up here in MN it has been COLD, so my motivation for walks has gone away. Working on getting myself motivated to exercise more with the new year. I chase after a toddler all the time, but still not the same as arobics or something, and much of my work is sit down computer work, so I am trying to be conscious about running little errands through out the workday and walking the skyways over my lunch hour.

I hope everyone else got encouragement from this challenge - now on to other challenges, right?

My goal is to be comfortably at my goal and on maintanance when we go to FL in the spring. I am close enough to goal that it won't take me that many months to get there, but want to tone up in addition to getting the weight off - pregnancy did a number on my tummy, and thighs - want to look ok in a bathing suit at Storm-along Bay at BCV!!

Way to go to all that took this challenge, and to anyone that actually made their goal, an especially big thumbs up!

I didn't make my goal I'm afraid - but at least I didn't gain overall on the run up or over the festive season! I think looking back that I was a bit ambitious with my target! Anyway I lost 6/15 - just pleased it's all in the right direction!

Well done to everyone who lost!

I made it to the 170's hoping to stay here for just one month- so I guess I lost 6/15 of what I had hoped! I started at 184 and ended up at 178- shooting for 160's by the end of the month! Starting to buckle down on my exercise and eating to make it to GOAL this year!!! I can't wait!!!!

CONGRATS to all of you! Some great willpower going on losing all those pounds during the most difficult time of the year! :)

WAHOO!!!!

Hi everyone!:wave2:
I lost one pound this week. That makes my grand total 8.5 out of 12. I didn't quite make it it to goal, but between going to WDW and the holidays I think I did pretty well. It looks like everyone did well considering all of the obsticles we face during this time of year. I have been thinking of it as passing a really hard test. I won over temptation many times and I think that is a great accomplishment. I mean I lost weight at Christmas time. How many other people can say they did that? (other than my fellow WISHer's of course):sunny:
Congratulations everyone!

I managed to maintain my loss over vacation (according to my slightly flaky scale), and even added an extra pound to my total, which is 26/23 for the challenge. Yippee!

Thanks to Claire4dpins for the great challenge, and to her and everyone else for all the encouragement along the way. Great job one and all!

AprilN - WOW - you really were brilliant on this challenge - 26/23 and that was after you upped your target!! It must feel fantastic to know you have said goodbye to that much weight for the start of 2004!! Thanks for your support on the challenge!!
