Hi Kim,
I'll take one of your surprise postcards!
Weather has improved here as well. It was warmer and sunny today.
Can't wait to meet everyone. Before you know it, we'll be on board.
Tandy's idea on the "DIS" Banner is an awesome idea. Looks like it is catching on with the cruises following ours. Good job Tandy.

Kim,
A surprise card is fine, I'm bringing pictures of our hometown beach that my husband picked up (2 different pictures).
See you all soon!

I love surprises, Kim! Denver and the Rockies are too pretty to just choose one card, so I've got a whole bunch of different scenes. :teeth:

DenverVal,
I couldn't agree with you more. The rockies are absolutely beautiful. Next to the Disney Cruise, a trip to Colorado is always one of our favourites.
My DH and I often comment on how if we could just pack up and move it would be to Denver because it is so awesome.

And that's why I live here! :p I grew up in California, moved here for a summer job, and never went back. I love the seasons. You really appreciate spring after a long winter. Y'all have the Canadian Rockies, though, and they are SO beautiful! We took a trip up to Radium Hot Springs and toured the national parks, and were amazed at how different the mountains looked from ours. The trip up Athabasca Glacier was the highlight of our trip, and everybody we met was so nice! :D

I love the Colorado Rockies! We used to go to a dude ranch in Allenspark, near Rocky Mountain National Park. Our boss has a house in Breckenridge we have used several times.
I read Stephen White's books because they take place in Colorado.

The Canadian Rockies - the American Rockies - We who live in flat, flat southwestern Ontario love them both (especially for skiing). Lately we have been going to the Canadian Rockies but if our dollar ever reaches the US Dollar we will once again be to the American Rockies.
Our family is flying in on the Friday night and we are staying at the Amerisuites. We then have a towncar taking us to the CRUISE. Should arrive around 10:30 AM.
Hope everyone has a Happy Easter and don't eat too much chocolate!!!

Is there such a thing as too much chocolate??
We're flying in the night before, renting a car for the day so we can go to Downtown Disney, bunking at the Hawthorn Suites, and returning to the airport to catch the DCL bus to the port. What time should we get to the airport? I'm trying to convince DH that we should try the Ohana dinner at the Polynesian, but so far he's not going for it.
I'm so excited! I plan to start packing this weekend (we won't be needing those shorts here) to avoid the horror of last minute packing. I get so stressed that my family avoids me. This way, maybe we can take in a Rockies game before we go! :hyper:

We were assigned late dinner seating on our first DCL cruise 2 1/2 years ago with our daughter, then 2 1/2. The first thing we did on the ship was report to the assigned area to request a seating change-we got switched with no problem and were assigned a table to ourselves, which worked out good with a little one. It was no problem-but I would advise you to go there as soon as possible. Ask at the check-in desk where on the ship to request the change. Good luck!
I don't have any information on your cabins.

Sorry to hear that your dinner seating wasn't what you wanted! That would upset me more than anything, I think....
I am getting excited too!
Tomorrow's cruise should be the last Western and then we are next! Yipee! I am planning to be at the Meet, but not sure how my toddler will respond to all the travel and may be a problem for me in the afternoon.
DH is clueless when it comes to meeting online friends, and isn't up for it
So, I will have us all in our lime green ribbon if you see me, I hope it will be at Scoops before the Sail away
:wave2:
We too will be on the DCL bus in the morning. Flight arriving at 10:30.
Not staying extra nights, although tons of time to kill afternoon on Sat, so we may take Dave's advice and tour Downtown Disney.

Okay, we have our clothes out and in a suitcase (though not officially "packed"), did it on Friday pm after the kids were in bed. Now I have to get all toiletries and other "things" together and properly pack our clothes, and get our carry-on ready. Then I'll wonder what I'm forgetting:confused: ? I'm feeling pretty confident about the whole packing thing right now, doubt that I'm forgetting anything MAJOR at the moment.
Auction is this Saturday, woke up early this am freaked out that it'd be a bust, and made my list of things to do and confirm. Guess I'll be busy this week!
Happy packing everyone!

Yes - I said SNOW. Went to bed last night and watched those big beautiful white snowflakes fall from the brisk night sky (yeh right they were beautiful). Woke up this AM and saw a white blanket covering EVERYTHING!!!
I sure hope we won't have to shovel ourselves out in order to get to the airport for the CRUISE. This weather up here is ridiculous.
They are promising temperatures in the high teens for the weekend so we are sure to be out of the winter blues by the time we board the ship!!!

Taylorsmom,
Our family has booked the Disney Jeep Trip in Cozumel. I have read nothing but good reports on this trip and we felt that you got to see and do a little bit of everything.
We sure hope it is going to be worth the money. All of the posts we read about the jeep tour said it was so worth every penny so every penny is what they shall receive from our family of 5.

We're down to single digits today, just can't wait to be pampered and smell that sea air.

We all watched the Travel Channel last night for the Disney Cruise Line special. Finally, my 6yr old "gets" it! He started asking if we were going today, and I said no, but next week! Have been coaching my 2 yr old on Disney characters and his favorite is Mickey! We have been singing the Mickey Mouse Club song, (can you tell I'm more excited than they are?)
Does anyone know how to get a "day rate" at a hotel near the airport for Sat. May 1? We have HOURS to kill.

CB4U, Please don't make me go! I plan to develop a severe case of auction amnesia after 3:00 pm Sat., and don't think I'll know what to do at an auction anymore!!!
Thanks, Edinafabs, I'm so appreciative that you took the time to look!
Taylorsmom (if you do it on your own) and Kim, let me know about the jeep trip and how it goes after. It sounds like a lot of fun, but I think Disney said we couldn't do it b/c one or both of our kids were too young. I think we might like to do it in the future.
Wish I'd known about the Disney cruise thing on tv last night, I've wanted to catch it so badly, does anyone know when it might be on again before we leave?
Does anyone feel like making an extra door sign for our cabin(maybe Tandyc???)? I wanted to do one, but lack the know-how (I did download some Disney fonts that Andy had given a link to, but then couldn't figure out how to use them), creativity and time! My husband saw your post Tandyc, and asked what they were, and then asked if we had one. I think he was a bit disappointed.
I can't believe it's snowing up north now. It's been cool (mid 60's at night and only mid to hi 70's daytime) here, but snow is ridiculous!!! I'd invite you to move down here, but it's starting to get pretty crowded over the past few decades. I hope it gets HOT by the time we cruise so I'll stay warm. Can't wait for next week so I can start checking the weather forecasts for the cruise. I have a couple more things to buy after reading these boards {clothes pins, S hooks (to hang my shoebag holder on), dog food for our doggy}, and collect from around the house (cardboard to put pictures from shutters in between so they don't get damaged on the way home, and a decent hi-lighter and umbrellas, ponchos and ziplocks), and then I'll be almost done!
I'm afraid I'm running out of time to get the ironing done and house picked up, though!

I'd really, really appreciate it!!! Thank you for making the time to do it!!! I don't have too many preferences, just anything Disney or Disney cruise or whatever! I have read that some people have sadly had their signs disappear, and that a way to prevent that is to personalize your sign to your family. So, that being said, it might be neat to have our first names (Ron, Laura, Andrew and Joseph) and maybe a date too, or Western or whatever?
Let me know what I owe you!
Thanks!

Guess we won't be hearing from you again Phrebert, since your count down says 22 hours to go! Safe journey, see you Sat at Scoops!
Tandyc, Thanks, look forward to it. Just look for two little boys in matching blue sun hats at the pool, and we'll be close by!
:smooth:
We'll be arriving at Ron Jons on Friday around 7:00. Hopefully we'll be able to get some pool time in before it closes. Hope to meet up with everyone staying there.
Tandy, I'll try to locate you by room/name when we arrive. Maybe you'll have already met lurontravel and we can meet up too. Anybody else staying at Ron Jons?
Safe travels and well wishes to all. If we don't meet up at the port, see you all by scoops deck 9 after the lifeboat drill and before the sailaway party (is that correct?).

Got here at 12:30 and am just about unpacked (papers and toiletries still to be put away), laundry is sorted, mail thrown away, boys asleep, dog happy to have his family home, and life is like I never left. Maybe it was just a "Disney Dream"???? I dreamed I met you all and we had a great time! Is it true? Thanks for everything, all of the tips and help beforehand, and meeting all of you. Hi all, we're just back from the Magic, the kids walked in the door and went straight to bed, didn't even want dinner (ok, so it WAS after 10pm, Denver time). We had a wonderful cruise, and I loved meeting all of you. Thanks Andy for the picture!
Did you all notice the huge sand castle on the beach at Castaway Cay (how could you not?!)? While we were waiting for the shuttle to the parking area here in Denver, we met a family who had just come back from the Wonder and a stay at the resorts. They said that they helped build that huge castle last Wednesday (I think)--they built the little ship docked at the lower right corner of the castle. I told them I loved the ship and had taken a picture of it. :p How funny is that?
Laundry calls, but I think it can wait a day longer....

We're home:( Had a very long day. Walked in the door about 10 minutes ago. Boys are in bed, luggage is still in the car and my own bed is calling! Will it have been turned down for me? No but it is mine:D
Thanks for all the great memories!! OntarioKim, are you home and ok? Such a long flight we are concerned about you!
CB4U- Are you home? Did all go well on your way to gt home? Please post so we know you're all ok.
Laura- Glad to hear you all are home safe and sound.

Glad to read that people are starting to check-in that they're home and safe. Hope to hear from the rest soon.
TandyC, thanks for the sand toys and the Buzz Lightyear for the boys! They provided a dual purpose: toys for later, and something to keep "little hands" (and bodies) busy while we waited to get off of the ship. Always give them a job...
The boys are still talking about you, especially Joseph about Mitchell.
We had a great time everyone, thanks!
Hi Everyone,
We are all home safe and sound. We were home about 8:00 p.m. We are all exhausted and the thoughts of getting back to a "normal life" are depressing. The kids are still sleeping and I am having my first cup of coffee (and I had to pour it myself!).
It was wonderful meeting all of you. Those special memories will last a lifetime.
Tandy: We enjoyed meeting you and your family. I'll get those pictures to you as soon as I can. What date did you rebook?
Laura: Glad everyone is well. Sorry we didn't get the chance to say goodbye. But we'll keep in touch somehow.
Plutojudy: Hope you opened your window shades nice and wide to let the sun in when you woke up this morning!! At least it wasn't too rocky. It was wonderful meeting you both.
Well it's off to the grocery store for me today. :(

We got home around 7PM. The plane was pretty darn rough from Orlando to Detroit. The next link was smooth sailing though except.... someone didn't get their luggage. DH- Dave is expecting to receive it sometime today (Sunday). It gives me a break on some laundry!!!
Couldn't wait to hop into our own bed last night but first we had to go to our favourite Mexican restaurant and have one last huge meal before we stop being in cruise mode.
Did anyone rebook? We booked same week next year but plan on switching to the MYSTERY cruise on Wednesday when the announcement is made.
How was your flight ( or should I say flights) to Detroit Tandy? Hopefully you didn't get the turbulance we did.
Our kids got the Magical Memories Certificates and Pins. They did towel making with 2 room stewards in our room and their supervisor (Barbara - white uniform person).
Dave and I got a mystery bottle of champagne that was in our room when we got back from Castaway Cay :p We have no idea who it was from. We had received two previous bottles but knew where they came from. The third is still a mystery. We still drank and enjoyed it though.
Last night we had freezing rain and it is cold. Oh what warm memories we have!!
Off to do laundry. RELAX today everyone. Its back to routines tomorrow.

Then in Salt Lake our flight was delayed 2 hrs more and we arrived at 8:40 mtn tiime. Then the 2 hour drive home complete with a dodge the deer section. Otherwise we are home safe and looking at the 375 pictures we took. Nice meeting everybody, sorry we cut out early we wanted to see the ship leave the dock.

We rebooked onboard for 12/10/05. Since we live on the West coast I switched to a 5/28/05 West coast 7 day Mexican Riverae(sp?) cruise!! We are so excited, with the air fare we'll save we'll hit DL for a couple days!

I'm so glad that DCL is broadening their horizons. I think that it will do a lot for their business. It makes perfect sense to me to put a ship near DL. I think they should put one near DLP (& all of the Disney parks) too. It was a good business and PR move in my opinion for the whole Disney enterprise. We didn't rebook as we already have a cruise planned on another line for next May (the one we had to cancel for this Oct), but maybe someday...
lurontravel,
What cruise line are you sailing with next May? We think we might want to do another cruise. My older kids thought RCCL might be good. We are just toying with the thought right now. We have sailed twice w/Disney and we love it but it is difficult to justify the cost (can save thousands elsewhere). Have a son heading to college!

After a relaxing day at the Hyatt we were delayed on the tarmac as Delta had computer problems. (Glad to hear that we weren't the only ones) At first I thought it sounded strange to have a computer crash for airlines, but after a three hour delay we were off, complete with my screaming two year old and a high school class trip on board. Major turbulence and I now need a vacation from the vacation! LOL
Really, I am fine, and enjoying reading the reports here. Didn't rebook onboard, I need a few years to potty train the little one and of course, we'd probably never get picked for Who wants to be a Mouseketeer again or get another free upgrade, so I am a little patient for next time. Was the weather perfect or what? I am so glad I got to meet some of you, even if it was brief.

Hey it was so nice to meet you guys finally. I only got a chance to meet a few but the few that I did meet were wonderful (my daughter really wanted to go see Mickey during the sail away party) We had a wonderful time. After the cruise we went to Disney World for a week with family. Next time we will probably do the cruise last. Great to hear that everyone is back safe and sound!!!! Did anyone book the 14 day East to West?

PlutoJudy,
Sounds like you are having the same weather as we are getting here in Ontario. It is HOT HOT HOT! We haven't had a May like this in four years. We opened the pool May 3rd and the kids are planning on swimming after school today! We had funnel clouds and hail on Monday due to the heat and humidity.
So glad I got a start on my tan while on the cruise. I'm not one of the white Canadians in shorts this week!
We rebooked while on the cruise with thoughts that we would do the west coast but have since realized that Mexico in the summer for us would cost us too much in sunscreen!! So, as of now we are booked on the Apr. 23rd 2005 Western. Can't wait.
TaylorsMom - Like I told you, we are flying into Hartford CT next Wednesday. Hope you can provide the same kind of great weather we had on the cruise!

Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone else ever checks back to see how everyone is doing? We're good, busy with swimming lessons (daily), and all the fun stuff that summer brings (popsicle parties, picnics, yard work, uggh, etc!) and getting ready to go to WDW for a few days from 8-10 to 8-14 for a little diversion while Ron is out of town next week. How are all of you, and what have you been up to?

Hi!
We are going to be in Nashville, September 3-6,
Daytona Beach, September 18-28, and
Hawaii, April 8-18, 2005.
No cruises planned but we are trying to figure out how to do a four day Wonder in December to see the Christmas decorations. Other than that we have been very busy at work.
Enjoy your trip to WDW.

Judy,
It's great to hear from you! Sounds like you have to be busy working now to get all of those vacations in without your bosses wondering if you still work there (that's why I figure that Ron works so much/hard when we're in town).
A Dec. cruise sounds great! I wonder when they put up their Christmas decorations on the ship? At the parks, it's all started the week of Thanksgiving if I remember correctly. I would probably only consider it in the first two weeks of Dec just b/c prices and space has to be at a premium around the regular weeks of vacations. I wonder how many other people think that way too, and if it's really a slower time of the year....?
Take care!
Anyone else ever check-in here???

Good Morning LuronTravel and Pluto Judy,
Just got back from Toronto (20th Anniversary getaway) and found your message.
Summer is flying by. We have been to NY City twice this summer and are off to Vegas the end of September.
The weather here in Ontario has been CRAP!!! In all honesty we have had no more than 10 days in the 80's. And those days have not been in a row. The tan is fading fast. The sunscreen is not being used and the pool - well, it is freezing. The summer has been so cold and rainy that it hasn't been worth heating the pool. Oh to be in the sunny south again.
Only 5 more weeks til school - only 1 more week til hockey tryouts. Where has the summer gone!!
Take care everyone

Hello all! I thought I'd check out this thread and saw that it had been added to!
Judy, which island are you visiting next spring? Have you ever been to Hawaii? We sent DD to the Big Island this summer with a group called Earth Explore. They spent two very busy weeks learning about the geology, ecology, history and culture of Hawaii. They got to do some really awesome stuff. I was impressed with the program.
We had a pretty cool summer here too. We never hit the century mark even once, which is unusual. I can't believe it's been six months since we cruised! Snow is in the forecast.
We're still planning on going on the eastbound repo cruise next summer. (I think by that time I am really going to need a vacation!) We bought into DVC while on the cruise, and are planning a major trip to WDW next November, and since they announced the DVC discount on APs, we may just go back in March when the kids are on spring break.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Val, so far our plans are to visit Oahu and Maui. That could change, we were looking into a NCL cruise but we have heard too many bad things about it.
Hope we can cruise together again some time. We would like to do a December cruise to see the ship and Castaway Cay decorated for Christmas.
We just got back from Las Vegas (business/pleasure) and had a great time. We get to go every November.
Take care!
Hi to all!

A friend of mine just returned from a trip to Maui earlier this month. She had never been there before and says she would go back in a heartbeat!
I think I would rather have a land vacation than a cruise to all the islands in such a short period of time...there are so many wonderful things to see in Hawaii. We seem to keep going back. But that's just me. I would be happy to share our recommendations with you if you are interested--just PM me.
A cruise at Christmastime sounds wonderful! Are there still cabins available? Wish I could swing it too!
