Finishing up the packing, getting ready to hand off the real Brenbug to my parents, and we are off to the airport in about 5 hours. Looking forward to relaxing and hopefully seeing some of the shoe-squad. Last count was seven. Safe travels to all, see you on the high seas! pirate:

Looking forward to meeting everyone at 3:30 Saturday!
For those of you leaving later today or tomorrow, have a safe trip to Port Canaverel and save your appetite for the shrimp at Parrot Cay and Topsider's!

We are having fun. We had our Dis meet the first afternoon. It was great to meet everyone. Have bumped into each other here and their. This is our first time on the Magic and it is everything that we heard. The kids clubs are so great. I almost miss my kids. We only see them for dinner and bedtime, although we will see them all day tomorrow on our excursion.
Dinner at Palo's tomorrow night. Can't wait.
Our travel agent, *************, has the Walt Disney Suite booked for this cruise and had an open house. Fantastic Suite.

I was wondering who was going to be the first to post on this thread after returning and my wishes came true!:hyper:
I'm going to try to post my daily log on the trip reports board very soon (as in tonight?)
My only regret is that we all didn't get to spend more time visiting w/one another, but as everyone here knows, there were so many wonderful (no, MAGICal) events going on, it was hard to find time!:(
NYDiscruisers, (Paul and Linda, it's nice to know everyone's names now )it was great seeing you at dinnertime each night, and at the deck parties!:boat:
SimbaNoodle, our DD excitedly told us she saw your DD at the lab one night (maybe the pajama party?)
:D
Dave and Fran, wished we could have all had more time to discuss and laugh at the shoe issue!:hyper: It was fun running into you all the first day and at Topsiders!
I hope all of you who were on this cruise are going to post trip reports!

We got home at 10:30 this morning and everyone was sleeping by 11:30. We had a great cruise. It was great to meet everyone. It was nice to see familier faces everyday.
If you missed the Pub night on Friday you missed a great show. We had a blast with Debbie, David and Tenley.
I guess we will wait until Sunday to unpack all the shoes.

Dave and Fran, there are shoes everywhere in our bedroom. After making a mess unpacking, Rob and I decided to take a break. He and Rachel are walking our dogs (who are so happy we're home,) and I'm catching up w/friends who now I can attach faces to (wasn't that nice to meet in person?).
Oh, the letdown of the Disney Cruise having come to and end.:( :sad1:

I'm home! I actually ended up getting on an earlier flight today and leaving Orlando around 2:30pm (it would have been A LONG day if we had to wait for the 5:30pm flight - those who saw me at pub night last night know why! hahaha). It was a great trip and I had so much fun - just wish I had gotten together with all of you DISers sooner! You made pub night so much fun! I haven't started unpacking yet - I'll save that for tomorrow. I think I'm going to go and get some sleep now....I'll report more later!

Well back in Northern Virginia. Was great to see our son again (13 months so we didn't bring him) but always sad to leave the ship. Had a nice time meeting everyone on the first day and had a great time with Dave and Debbie during the week. Hope everyone had a great time, safe travels back and those who went on to the parks enjoyed themselves. We had a great trip and I am ready to go back.
If you are looking for a different excursion next time, I would highly recommend scuba diving at St. Thomas. There is a Discover Scuba Course we took. The instruction was great, and the subsequent dive was something Lee Anne and I will never forget. We are going to get certified as a result. Scuba certified not certified insane (too late). http://www.sawyerdive.vi/ese.htm
I am pretty sure that we were cruising with the actor Jonathan Frakes from Star Trek, thanks for the name Debbie. One of my buddies will die, huge fan.
Take care all.

Has anyone else here had a hard time adjusting back to 'normal life?' I'm better tonight, but I awoke this morning so EXHAUSTED! Rob had to go back to work this morning (ugh!) and sounded like a zombie when he called home.
I'm enjoying more though, posting on this particular thread because I'm now able to attach names to faces.:teeth: I'm going to try to post day 2 on the trip reports board.

Yes Brenbug that was Jonathon Frakes. I saw him several times throughout the ship. The first time I was like, hmm, is that??? And then I saw that it was. He was traveling with wife and kids and it looked like other friends or family.
He looks much better in person, and has great eyes!
Mickeyhugger
06-07-2004, 05:19 PM
Hey Fran, I'll chat!
We all feel the depression too! The 'post-cruise letdown' was at it's abosolute worst for me Sunday a.m. I didn't have any motivation or energy, and the mounds of unfolded laundry and suitcases (some of which still needed unpacking) made me want to crawl back into bed, close my eyes, and wish myself back onto the ship.
We rebooked for Thanksgiving 2005, (first holiday EVER away from home) as we're excited about the two-stopper at CC. Not being able to fathom the thought of enduring 18 mos. w/out a Disney cruise, we also booked May 28, 2005 out of CA. Now that reality is starting to sink in, we might have to cancel that one, as it's so much more $$ than the Port Canaveral departures. :sad2: I was hoping we could book spring break, but a category 9 for the three of us is already at 4700.00. OUCH!
I think you asked on another thread if I put the berries and whipped cream on the stollen from Palo brunch. Yes! Wasn't it wonderful? I forgot to put the jam on though. How did I miss that? I would LOVE to have that recipe for the whipped cream, but since I don't have the pixie dust in my pantry, it won't taste as good!
Hey all you other May 29th cruisers, when you have the chance, share your memories here w/tchrmom and me!

Pricilla, it was fun bumping into you guys at dinner and deck parties too!
Lewis, DW and I were laughing last night as I read your post to her...yes, we will always remember the naked catamaran pulling up next to our Disney excursion!
Best memories had to be Lauren's (DD6) face lighting up during the shows and the princess meet and greet, but there are defininitely a LOT of others!

Ok, here's one for all you guys. We had (a wonderful!) dinner at the Flying Fish cafe on Saturday. We asked our server if they still did the scavenger hunt for the kids. He said that he hadn't seen any for a while, but would check. When he couldn't come up with one he gave us this challenge to think about:
There are a total of 12 Disney feature length animated movies that have one word titles. Can you name them all?
After a few hints and conversations with a former CM and her husband at the next table, we managed to get them all.
Bonus question: Which two of these 12 movies were released in the same year?
(And no cheating with any search engines.)

By the way, was anyone else here booked through Dreams? We received a bon voyage memory box along with our Castaway Club pins and welcome letter. I think the memory box was an added gift from Dreams, if I remember the wording of the stuff correctly. At the time, I thought it was just part of the Castaway Club gift.
Dreams used to give a stateroom gift to everyone if 8 or more families were booked on a given cruise. I thought they had stopped doing this. Anyone else receive a Dreams gift? Or am I all confused???

Betsy,
It's not as cut an dried as the others, but most of it was CGI and animation (according to a couple of sites that I looked at.)
Actually, our server at Flying Fish told us the 12th movie was "Balto." I wasn't so sure of that one, so I looked it up and that was Universal studios.

Finally we are back home--got in last night...and I have to fly out to Atlanta next Tuesday for some "all manager" meeting...just enough time to wash clothes and unpack shoes.
We had a blast on the trip, and the second vacation afterward at Universal and The World. Dave, thanks for posting the pics (and thanks to Verandah Man for capturing the ship on its way out as as well!!!)
Highlights:
Palo Souffle
Formal night (boy was I glad to get out of that dress, whew!) but all my guys looked great!
Sitting at that bar on the beach in St. Maarten--cheap beer and great company with Fred and Lou Ann well, just Fred because Lou Ann was buying all the tanzanite in St. Maarten! ;)
Third Sea Day at the pool with Dave and Fran--Dave you were ROBBED during that scavenger hunt! ;) Ended up seeing Disney Dreams with Jake because my David needed a big nap after spending all day talking to people in the pool!
Pub night--ROFL--literally. Tenley, you should have hung out with us all week, sister! ;)
Paul--we also got the memory box from Dreams Unlimited--nice touch, I thought.
The surprise on our kid's faces when we pulled into the parking lot at Royal Pacific and they realized the vacation wasn't quite over--thanks everyone for keeping it a secret on the ship. I told them EVERYONE knew but them!

Whew! What a week! I spent the last 5 days just catching up on what I missed at work while I was gone. I never thought I would be so happy to leave for the weekend - I need some rest!
What a great trip Laura and I had...well, I had. hahaha. I honestly enjoyed the Eastern itinerary much more than the western. St. Thomas was the best! I hated leaving! If any of you happen to go back there, you must stop and eat at The Green House which is downtown in the main shopping area, about 5 minutes from the straw market area. The food was cheap and sooooo good! and drinks were 2 for 1 and were very yummy. We did the 5-star snorkel and had a great time - St. John is so beautiful. In St. Thomas we did the Orient Beach excursion, which I thought was worth the money - it was a pretty good lunch and you get a free drink when you get there. We only had to pay $3 to keep our umbrella for the day. I didn't really do too much on the days at sea because I was really focusing on relaxing, so I spent the majority of my time at Quiet Cove Pool. We did get to go to Palo Brunch - had Beckie as our server and she was FANTASTIC - didn't realize until afterwards that we were sitting two tables away from Fran, Dave, Fran's mom, and their friends. Too funny. I am still dreaming of that Stolin bread...mmmmm....it was just a great trip overall - just wish I hung with you DISers more!!!
Debbie - were your boys absoloutely shocked at their second vacation!!!??? I am still so jealous you guys got to go to the World after! Hope you had a great time and that it didn't wear you out too much. Oh - and by the way - that third day at sea, David was talking to me at the pool!!! hahaha! Glad he did, or else I might not have met all the DISers! Are you guys going to go on the 2-week cruise next August??? C'mon!!! you got to go!!! (I'm sitting here hoping I get to go - I hope work lets me!).
We have to keep this thread alive - I am missing the Magic way too much!

I'm envious of those of you who were able to continue vacation post-cruise. Rob had to be back at work (thank goodness, we still have another vacation planned for later in the summer.) For us, no vacation will top the recent DCL trip we all had! Does anyone care to join us Thanksgiving week 2005? (November 19th Magic.) Thank goodness we have 17 mos. till then (more time to pay). The kids were really surprised--we stopped at the McDonald's across the street from the DD entrance and they still didn't notice the signs...wasn't until we pulled in at the hotel that it finally struck them that we weren't going home!
I really wish I could do the two week cruise, but I just don't think its in the cards this time around. I don't think we'll plan another cruise at least until the summer--we'll likely be in the World in December and again in early June before our APs run out.
Ahh to be sitting by the adult pool right now-- watching my husband talk to total strangers  --hey, at least they aren't strangers very long--they either figure out a way to extricate themselves from the conversation, or just give in and talk to the guy! Hey, I love him!

No sign of our Castaway Club towel either.
I think it's a cost cutting idea on Disney's part! Once we're home, they are hopeing that we'd be too busy to remember!

No towel here either.
I'd let them keep the towel if there was some miraculous way to send us some stollen, Palo pizza, chocolate souffle and that to-die-for Palo lemon meringue pie!:p
Argghh! It's taking forever to lose these 7 lbs. I gained. (And I'd do it again tomorrow!)
Will November 2005 ever get here?

I'm glad to know I'm not the ONLY one who has trouble taking off this cruise weight!
Somehow, walking on the treadmill before the cruise was MUCH easier!!!!!!!!!

I'm just glad formal night was the second night--there was no way I was getting myself in that gown any later than day two--I think I'll have to retire that dress now anyway!
Jake is doing a scrapbook project this week in his "Artstation" classes--with the cruise pics, of course!

Well it's been one month since we had our Dis meet on secret deck seven. How sad. It was a great cruise though. I am envious of all of you counting down to the next one.
Have fun everyone.

Hi there Lewis and family:wave:
It looks as if you're going through DCL withdrawal too.:(
I try to look at these boards each day, but don't have the same enthusiasm. (The enthusiam will resurface once we get closer to our cruise date, which won't be until Thanksgiving 2005!):(
I see that your family has WDW booked for Mardi Gras:teeth: though. It's almost as good as the cruise?
Is anyone else here a little glum too, now that it's been a month?

Hi guys!
Yes, it feels like sooooooo long ago that we were enjoying our "Magic"al cruise! :( Linda and I were just discussing last night how we were going to take our lottery winnings and book a cruise next week for our whole family. Unfortunately, the machine picked the wrong numbers!
Still waiting on that Castaway Club beach towel...It would be nice to have it by the time of our Jersey shore trip at the end of August!
Have a good day and safe 4th of July!:D

Hello everyone.......
I am keeping the cruise alive by working on the video a little everynight. ( actually, I just have no idea what I am doing). I hope to finish it this weekend. DS just asked last weekend if we could take the waverunner over to the ramps at Grills Rest and ride around the Magic as it pulls out of the channel.
We only have until Oct until we go again, although that thread has not become as active as ours was. Hope everyone has a safe holiday.
By the way...no towel here yet.

Dave, I hear ya about the other threads not being as active as this one was. You think the threads are slow for your October cruise? Try November 19, 2005!:hyper: (Thanksgiving week.)I'll tell you all something else, too. Rob, Rachel and I are booked for March 19 2005 for the Carnival Glory. I know, we must be crazy:crazy: , but the price was too good to let slip by (2000.00 less than the Magic for the same spring break week.) Anyway, I've been looking at the message boards on other the other cruise sites! BORING! I just can't get as excited as I can for DCL. Thank goodness we'll have our November 2005 Magic cruise for which we can look forward once we set foot off the Glory! We do love cruises though (thanks to Disney,) and we love St. Thomas and want to go back! (Also thanks to Disney!)::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo

Happy and safe 4th everyone! We'll be out on the lake but I can't help but wish that I was poolside in the Quiet Cove pool--its so much less work just watching my DH talk! ;) Now that I think about it, I have to cook and pack and wash and take care of everyone else, so its pretty much NOTHING like being on a cruise, no is it? (Well, David still stops to talk to everyone...)
I'm so jealous of you guys going on your next cruises! Hope you have a great time--I know you will!
Dave, no towel here either. :(.

Just keep rubbing that in, don't ya?
I think I could deal with the big four-oh-no if it was anywhere near the Magic--even if they were kicking me off!
When does school start back, Fran?

Teachers go back July 28th:(
Kids go back Aug. 5th
This year, to help with this stupid "lower class ratio" law that was passed, I'll be teaching in a "triad". That means 60 kids, 3 teachers to a suite....when you turn your numbers into the state, It looks like only 20 kids per class. What Floridians didn't think of when they passed this dumb law is that there isn't any $ for more schools! Where would they put all these kids?????
DUMB! DUMB! DUMB!
Now you know why I'm ready for another cruise!!!!!!!

Is anyone still around?
Our Castaway Club towel finally arrived yesterday via USPS priority mail! :)
Must be back to school time for some of you. Alyssa and Lauren still have about 4 more weeks to go.
Hope all is well with everyone.

What a coincidence!
This is the first time in at least three weeks that I've checked the Cruise Meets boards. (Didn't know if anyone was still posting.) It'll be more than a year until our next DCL trip, and it makes me a little sad:sad1: to read the posts.
How lucky for you Paul and Linda, that your daughters don't start school for a few more weeks. When I was in grade school, we didn't start until after Labor day, and our DD starts on Monday! (Give me a break! Summer is only 'officially' a little more than half over!)
We'll be looking for our towel now!:D

We got our towel this past Monday. :)
My son started school Wednesday but our governor just signed a law to mandate a start to school no earlier than August 28th beginning next year...so maybe I'll cruise to Alaska next August!
Have a great weekend--I know many are buckling down for Charlie--he's aiming at Orlando, and then gunning up the east coast and we're right in his path--oh well guess I need to fill up the bathtubs, buy milk and bread, and make sure the generator is working!

Hi Pricilla and Debbie,
DD's don't start school till the Wednesday after Labor Day. Of course, that means the girls are in school till almost the end of June. So I guess it all evens out.
Debbie, hope you guys luck out with Charlie. It looks like Dave and Fran were spared the worst. Hopefully, the storm will continue its present trend and move out to sea before doing any more damage.
Pricilla, we're coming up on the 1 year mark for our Canal cruise! It's hard to get too excited yet, since were still a long way away.
