A friend of mine is sailing with her DD and 3 grandsons 4,2, 3months. I was checking to see who's going. She has never visited the Boards so, I thought I would get a thread going for her.

I'm sailing on the 11/29 7-night eastern with DH and DS7.

30 days to go!!

I'm doing the Disney Happy Dance

It is to celebrate my parent's 50th anniversary.

HEY Y'ALL...

It's me Phyllis....used to be known as NATSMOM....

My computer crashed at home(new one on the way) and they
brought me a new one at work..where I am now...all my settings were gone. I could not remember my DIS passwords, etc.....and I kept asking DIS to send it to me and they never did..so I had to re-register to get back on the boards and now I'm starting all over again as a guest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway.....we will be on the December 13th cruise. Me, DH and
DD who will be 11 in January.....we have late seating. I know there is one other family going the same time..who frequents the boards. I can't remember her name and I don't have the sheet with me with her name on it. I'm arranging to have dinner with
them, as they have a DD same age as mine.

I know some Dec 6th cruisers have received the docs already...hopefully we will soon......

We all need to try and get together if possible.

Keep in touch....my email is NATSMOM125@aol.com

and HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone..........

HEY Y'ALL.....

GOT DOCS YESTERDAY.....did anyone else???????????????

DH surprised me. I had ordered my new computer..it was suppose to be delivered here to the office....it didn't show up...
I called and screamed at the computer company starting with a D..
the guy said "Oh, it was delivered today"..I said "NO IT WASN'T"..
he said "It was delivered..signed by J. Glass"....then I had to
apologize...OOOOOPPPPPPSSSSSS...anyway.....when I got home
(I had to leave early...couldn't stand it any longer)...there was
this little package that I thought was the mouse with the computer...the Chief(my boss, the fire chief) had received his
mouse in a small box...looked exactly like this one.....so I looked at it and it had my old office phone # on it....I said how did D get
this phone #.....DH didn't say a word....just continued to watch
Trading Spaces.....took my kitchen knife and sliced the box open
and the docs fell out.....DH thought he was sooooooo cute at
keeping a secret....so I had to do the "screaming dance"....and
we spent the next hour looking at those..instead of the new computer!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though this is our fifth cruise....I was
still so excited...................

If anyone wants to have late dinner with us....let me know....

We got the docs for one of our rooms yesterday... I guess the other package will come today or later this week.

So what do I do with them now?? Do we need those slips of paper about the Bahamas? St. Maarten and St. Thomas aren't considered part of the Bahamas, are they??

I was not expecting anyone to see them for weeks yet..none here..:(
The bahamas immigration form is for castaway cay. St. Thomas is a US virgian Island and St. Maarten does not require a form.

Thats good to know at least one boy will be in the lab :)
Is this his first cruise? Mike has done DCL four times so he is an old pro at it now. Did you get your doc's yet? Some people from our sailing did (not us) I was really surprised they got them so soon!

The docs for our second room arrived today! We booked through DCL back in July. We got adjoining rooms 6100/6102. Would have loved that upgrade to a Cat 2 they offered me last week, but no way we could swing another $6800!! I could have gotten 2 more Cat. 6 rooms at our current rate for less than that!

no documents here.. I won't even be concerned until December third or so....

edited to add... I didn't think there was ANY way they would give you a comp. upgrade to the suite.. I was planning on becoming your new best friend if they did..but I doubted highly DCL would give away $6000.00 someone paid for it....DH just says over and over thank God they didn't call you......

Ann...you are too funny...I know what you mean about being
a "best friend"...

We are "best friends" with a couple here at home. They sailed with their son, who was a cast member, a few years ago. They
had a one bedroom suite. We have talked about sailing together
sometime.

I told them to be sure and get that suite again...which I'm sure they would....and we'd book an inside cabin....and come up and live in their suite...and eat all of their food...and lay on their verandah......sounds good to me...especially today.....

Gotta run....more later....

We booked through Travelocity. I spoke to them yesterday and they said Disney mailed them our docs last Friday and they would be sending them out to us as soon as they arrived.

Ann, Yes, 1st cruise for our 12 year old nephew. In fact 1st cruise for ALL 8 of us and we can't wait!!!!!

Well.... after I read about the couple who got a surprise complimentary upgrade to a Cat. 2, I was kinda hoping in the back of my mind it would happen. I was surprised that they would put 2 people in a room for 7 when they could have freed up 2 rooms by putting a family with adjoining rooms into it.

But hey... 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms... and less expense. :earsgirl:

We'll be there. My husband, and our two sons--6 and 8months.
I have been really looking forward to this, our first vacation this year. But last week my husband surprised us with a weeklong trip to the Polynesian on 11/17. We'll come home and just have three weeks before we cruise :-) Suzanne

Hi!
My DS is 7 and DD is 6. Is there anyone who will be in their age group? We are traveling with a girl who is 7, so my DS will probably be left out in the cold.

We got our documents today. We were in cabin 2106 (right across from the room we had last year...an inside cabin) and we were upgraded to a cat 6, room 6030! How crazy is that? When I told my DH that they probably do this so when we come back, we won't be able to get anything less, he said "Hey, that's fine with me! If they upgrade us free, I would be happy to pay for it the next time!". That shocked me to say the least.
Has anyone else on this sail date been upgraded? Is anyone familiar with room 6030 or anything close to it. It's right off of the front elevators, so I'm a bit worried about the noise, but I guess I could suffer with a veranda.

Is anyone staying at the Raddison the night before? We will be in the pool area if you want to stop and say hello! I have the cat in the hat tattoo (which is 10 years old, so I didn't jump on the bandwagon). :teeth:
See you all soon!

Congrats on the upgrade!!

I've got a 7yo son (he'll be 8 on Dec. 30). Maybe he and your son will hit it off. We're also staying at the Radisson the night before. I don't think we'll get there till evening, though. Our flight lands at MCO around 5:30.

Lucky you!
My son is almost 11 so I'm not much help in that Dept. we are staying near universal so I can take the guys to Dan Marino's for dinner the night before so I am no help with that either... but I think the cat in the hat tatoo is kinda neat :)

I have heard of this, but still unsure who you have to be in order to be in the click.

Did I hear it's anyone who has sailed with Disney before?

4kidsandadog,
Even though you are getting in later, I am sure we will be by the pool even that late.

Anyone know of a good place to eat that is walking distance of the Raddison? We went to that Italian place that is near the hotel last time. It was "ok", but not great.

See you all soon!

I'm still on the fence on excursions, but my DH is saying it might be fun to go on one. We didn't do it last time and we still have a wonderful time on the Western. This is the first time on the Eastern side, so I'm clueless what to do and where to go. I did hear if you want to buy booze, go to KMart, where the locals get theirs.

Any great ideas for 6 and 7 year old? I would also like to find lots of information on pirates. My kids LOVE pirates! I was able to find lots of info on the Western (especially Cayman), but the Eastern is a bit more difficult.

I want to sleep with the docs under my pillow so I don't lose them.

4kidsandadog, we will have to make sure and hook up our kids.

SuzPasq, we will also have to hook up our kids!

See you at the Oceaneers Club!

My family is going on their first Disney cruise. I have a son who will be 7 in January and a daughter who is 5. They will be in the kids club together. We will br traveling with my parents who are Florida residents so we got a great deal. I think I am more excited than my children. I'm sure that the kids will have a great time though. Would love any advice for this age kids. Have been reading the boards and getting alot of helpful information. I feel fairly prepared.

The only way they will be in the club together is if you put your son in the lower age group. Last cruise, this happened to my DH and DD, but this year, they will be in the same group.

Just thought you should know so you don't go in thinking they will be in the same group.

See you soon!

Kitty:
I thought that the age ranges were 3 & 4 together and 5 to 7. So the Snowbuzz children would be in the same group.

I just want to clarify. Above I mis-posted my nieces ages (I am a bad uncle). The older two are both 7 and the next two are both 5 with the youngest being 3.

I have told their mothers that the older four would all be in the same group (5 to 7) with only the youngest being seperate. Which actually works out quite well as the 3 year old is the most independent and fearless of the group.

So did I misinform my sisters (did the bad uncle strike again?)

Hi, I've communicated w/a few of you by e-mail, but thought I should join the group. I'm taking my DD and her three sons, ages 4, 2 and 4 months on the 13th cruise, since her husband and their dad is a pilot in the Marines serving our country on the Enterprise in the Persian Gulf (pray for him, his safety and his sadness as he has to be away from his family during the holidays). This is our 4th Disney cruise, but first Eastern and we are really looking forward to being in a warm climate and seeing the ship all decked out for Christmas.

Someone had put the website for Bluebeard's Castle on the board, do you know how close to the ship it is. In the RCI book it looks like it is right where the ships dock. My 4 year old grandson loves Capt Hook, so he would enjoy finding some pirates also.

We do not plan to do many excursions, as we have been disappointed w/most of the ones we have done in the past and wished we'd just "stayed on the ship". We will get off and walk around but it is a little scary putting little kids in cabs, buses, etc w/o those carseats. There is just so much do do on the ship, you could stay on there for a month and not do it all, so I'm sure we won't miss going ashore.

Hope to meet up with the other military family and also, Nat's mom from Hilton Head, SC as that is where my daughter lives.

Does anyone need a place to stay in Orlando the week before. I had picked up a week (RCI) at Sheraton Vistana (2 bedroom for 8) from Dec 7-14 for my daughter (her kids) and a friend of hers to go down a week early, but these plans may be falling through--shoud know by the end of the week. I could make someone a great deal so it would not sit empty.

Rence,
I stand corrected. I got the ages all messed up in my head and remembered my daughter was only 4 (almost 5) when we cruised. Glad to hear that most of the posse will be together in your group as well as Snowbuzz!

JavinVA, we are neighbors! Can't wait to meet you!

25 days to board! Does everyone have their list of "don't forget" items"?

Hi neighbor from Stafford, we must get together as your daughter and my grandson, Troy (who will be 5 in Feb) could possibly get to know each other and meet in Club. Makes it nice if they already know somebody. If you like e-mail me and we can make arrangements to meet. Our cabin is 8042 in case we don't catch up w/each other before the 13th.

We are military as well (Air Force). Which deck are you on? We're on deck 6 in 2 Cat. 6 rooms. I haven't filled out our forms yet. Maybe this weekend if I can find some time. I am beginning to worry that I don't have the right clothes for this trip and will end up eating most of my meals in the room or from the walk-up places. I know I don't own anything for formal night, that's for sure!

Karen...don't worry about not having the right kind of clothes for formal night on the cruise.

Everyone wears something different. I have some Christmas
sweaters that I am taking...and like one pair of black pants..and that's it. You will see people in Sunday School clothes and people in formal gowns and tuxes. Don't worry about it. Just go and have a great time.

See you in 17 days..........

4kidsandadog,
Please don't sit in your room and miss supper in the diningroom. That is part of the excitement that you won't want to miss. Check out the thrift shops near you. I was amazed by the beautiful gowns and formal wear they had for dirt cheap. The dresses were in perfect shape too!

No matter what, you will look great so go and enjoy!
See you soon!
Happy Thanksgiving,

karen please don't worry! Formal night is as formal as you want it to be. A simple black skirt is fine! Frankly I could care less what anyone wears as long as it is not a thong and they sit next to DH and DS.. otherwise who cares? I personally do get dressed up but that is because I love the chance to do so. That said however, last year for formal night the couple we were seated with the husband wore a tshirt with work type docker pants, the wife wore a skort. Did I care-nope, didn't take away from my experience at all!!
It is coming up soon, you should be excited not concerned about what you wear! There are tons of sales going on tomorrow, maybe you could pick up a "little black dress" somewhere. On formal night pair it with a spangly scarf or some nice jewelry and on semi formal just wear it plain, you will be knock out!
