Hi everyone...

I have some good news to share...I've finally found a job! :)

Yup...after months of looking and in some cases I guess being too picky...I've finally found something that fits. :) Actually, it's kind of funny...I was offered two jobs within 4 days. One was something that appealed to the photographer in me...but the other won out due to flexibility, pay and commute. :) So...now all I have to worry about, if you can call it "worrying"...is about the cruise!

I was going to feel pretty bad going on this cruise and spending money when I wasn't making any...but that's all different now baby! :jumping1: Bring on those sailaway drinks! :):drinking1

-----------------------

And on a very belated note....HAPPY BIRTHDAY RONNIEJO! :bday: :flower3: :flower3: :cake:

I've been so wrapped up in my "worries" I haven't been good about certain things. :)

----------------------

Can't wait to see you guys!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I "got" voluteered to help out tomorrow at my daughters school.....photo day!!!:scared: Hope I don't have to do anything important!!! ha ha ha ....I can't guarantee how it'll turn out!

Stop me before I volunteer again:crazy:

Smiles to All,

Hi Everyone,

We did actually get back after labor day, but I have been so busy that I have just been lurking and not posting! Finally, we had decent weather in N. Wisconsin :) It was actually warm and sunny for 3 days :sunny: We drove home on Sunday when it started raining up there again!

On Friday we met Denise & John (Skylynx and Impala) for dinner and had a wonderful time. They were a lot of fun to talk with and I am REALLY excited about the cruise now! I even started packing Darrah's clothes yesterday (OK - I'm nuts. It still well over a month until we leave.)

I'm still not happy with my formal/semi-formal options, but I haven't been able to find anything I like. In my closet, I do have "reasonable" things I can wear - I'm just not excited about them.

I have a crazy question for all of the black-glove ladies - does anyone else have a secret desire to wear a tiara? I can remember being quite irritated with my father when I was 8 when I found out I couldn't be a princess because he wasn't a king! :) Other than a couple of halloween costumes as I was growing up, I've never had a chance to wear a tiara (it was definitely NOT in-style for homecoming or prom when I was in school.) My DH is already horrified about the gloves (too "weird") and would probably freak out if I wanted to wear a "crown" also!.

Hopefully, there will be something left of the caribbean when we get there - I keep checking out the hurricane sites trying to see what is getting smashed now :( Hopefully, Grand Cayman will recover before we cruise. It sounds pretty good for Castaway Cay and at least Key West doesn't look like it is going to get a direct hit from Ivan.... It isn't clear if Cozumel is going to get some of Ivan or not - I sure hope not!

Have a great week everybody!

Pamela

Hello everyone!

Looks like Ivan is going to miss Tampa! YEAH!!!!!!!

I know that only happened because I stood in a 3 hour line for plywood on Friday! But............now I have it for the next time!::yes::

DD had a gymnastic competition this weekend, so I was really praying that Ivan didn't visit. We have state qualifiers next weekend, then we're off to Disney for a weekend "fix" on the 25th. I'm ready! I even have my Chef Mickey ressies.

(tchrmom looks out the window for Mr. UPS. She KNOWS what "Brown" can do for her!)

No docs yet!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday RonnieJo!!

Congrats Dana on the job! I am so happy for you.

Pamela, every girl wants to wear a tiara. On our last cruise there was a "joke" with all of us about a feather boa and tiara. Give up the gloves for the hubby and wear the tiara. :teeth: Heidi actually bought a very small one thinking that she would wear it on the cruise. She just hasn't had the time to try it on yet.

I tried to talk the other Disney Dudettes into wearing tiara's on the last cruise but they just wouldn't go for it. "All girls are princesses". princess: princess: princess:

DANA: Congratulations on the new job!:rose:

RONNIEJO: Happy Belated Birthday:bday: :cake:.

Getting VERY excited:jumping1:. Just hope the Western Caribbean is still standing!

Hope you all have a stressless week. Back to work for three in a row tomorrow. Disney Dudette #3 daughter :bride: gets married on Saturday. I hope the rain they predict doesn't come. Toodles:wave2: :earsgirl: JEANNE

Hi, Everybody

As Pamela reported, we had a chance to meet for dinner on Friday and had a wonderful time getting each other wound up for the cruise. We found out we have lots in common (other than geography) How nice to meet someone not just on our cruise, but in our neck of the woods! One of the many reasons why I love disboards.

Pamela, I'll bring my tiara (and wear it), so if you get one and want to wear it, you won't be alone ;-) Besides, Dan might just warm up to the black gloves and/or tiara once he sees how gorgeous you are in them!

Dana...congrats on the job. I'm still waiting for that elusive full time offer while teaching part time at a junior college, freelancing instructional design, freelance writing corporate newsletters, dogsitting, and, yes, even working for the Disney Store and getting my short but satisfactory chance to be a cast member (while Disney still owns the DS). You can really enjoy the cruise now, guilt-free (though I went on another cruise just after I got laid off and managed to postpone the guilt trip until AFTER.) Sounds like you'll be needing an "I'm Celebrating" button!

John has managed to find a white tuxedo jacket on eBay, and plans to live out his James Bond fantasy by wearing it one night to dinner (he's British, so very good at this role). At least until he gets barbecue sauce spills on it. He will be alternating between that one and his black tux, as we continue our campaign to be voted The Most Overdressed Couple Onboard.

Wondering how Grand Cayman fared Ivan. Our Chicago Tribune had a cartoon that showed a car passing a "Welcome to Florida" sign on a highway and the "o" in Florida was a graphic of a circling hurricane. I cut it out to save.

Happy Monday, everyone. Time to dig out the fins and send the glam gear to the dry cleaner!

Iwanted to say hi to beano.kamgen, tchrmom, tarzan, dmoss and to whomever else i forgot...I was w/ you guys on the 10/18/03 cruise w/ my daughter Calina & husband Ted. Wish I could cruise again, but I just delivered twin boys on 8/9.. How different my life is from a year ago. Calina still talks about the cruise!!! Have a bunch of sail away drinks for me!!

Pamela - how funny, I was thinking about wearing a tiarra so I went out and bought one. Like my mom said, it is small but I haven't tried it on yet. I was actually thinking about the black gloves too. If I decide to go really formal I may be a part of the black glove ladies and wear the tiarra. If I go real formal I will wear what I wore in my sister's wedding as the maid of honor. If I decide not to pack the big dress than I will only the tiarra if it looks good because the other dress is not fancy enough to wear black gloves!!!

I hope Grand Cayman did okay. I loved Grand Cayman when I went last time on the cruise. That was the only port I really loved and was dying to go back. I am not a Mexico fan, this will be my second time in Cozumel and I wasn't very impressed the first time. I hope things got better with time!!

Thanks everyone for the congratulations! :) My first day was busy, busy, busy...but it's nice earning a paycheck again. Wish I could do that vacationing. :)

Hi Rena...congrats to you on your double bundle of joy! We'll miss you this time around.

Now I just need my first paycheck...so I can do some much needed cruise shopping. LOL :)

Fran...so glad Ivan is passing Tampa by...not only for you guys, but for my fam too. It's nice to know you guys will be safe. :) Hopefully we'll do okay too, since we're so far inland, by the time Ivan gets to us, hopefully he'll be a tiny little thing. :)

Well...going to relax and play with my doggie. :)

RENA: Congratulations on your double blessing:rotfl: :rotfl:. Disney Dudette #3 is a twin too! Along with Sandy having beautiful twin daughters. What did you name the boys?

I just don't think I can stand it any longer. I am SOOOOOOOO excited :jumping1:

I was "mandatory flexed" from work this AM. When the census goes down they flex staffing down & you can't refuse. I sure didn't want to use 12 hours of PTO to sit home today but I didn't have a choice & can't afford not to put in for the time.

Hope you all have a good day. Toodles:wave2: :earsgirl: JEANNE

Does anyone do that?

Just wondering....

Hello from the other half of the lynx impala duo...

The latest news from the BBC is that Cayman was badly damaged, with half the houses damged or destroyed. The airport has opened again, but only for relief flights.

Couzmel is expecting the edge of Ivan to hit them soon, so they have closed the port to cruise ships...

Well fingers crossed all will be well, but just in case... does anybody have any maps of Halifax Nova Scotia.

The people in DCL must feel they are on a really sticky wicket, coping with all these changes...

See you ALL soon..(On my birthday...:-))

cheers

Hi! My name is Julie and with DH, DD9 & DS7, this will be our first cruise.

I posted this on the kids list, but it was suggested I try it here, so here goes:

DS7 saw the Oceaneer Club in pictures and on video with pirate play, etc. and then he saw the Oceaneer Lab with the computers, etc. He is worried about being stuck in the Oceaneer Club and not enjoying the activities they provide, when it looks like he would really like the Oceaneer Lab. (He is tall for his age and his best friend is 11, so he acts older than his age.) In the passporter it says they will bump them up to the next group if they are within one month of the age. Does anyone know how strict they are on that? He will be 4 months shy of the age cutoff.

Thanks for any info. DH and I were hoping for some quality adult time on the cruise after spending a week in WDW with the kids. I'd hate to find out DS hates the Club, can't go to the Lab and spends all his time moping with us.

Also.......reading all those posts about formal wear and black gloves got me excited. So I went out and bought a great dress, but I can't seem to find any gloves. Any ideas were to look? I'm in Northern California. Also, DH took a look at the dress and said his suit is not formal enough and wants a tux. Can you rent one on the ship?

Thanks.....Julie

Hi John,

From what I am finding on the web (mostly on-line forums posting msgs from cell phone calls) it sounds like Grand Cayman has been VERY badly hit. Hopefully, there will be more news once the royal navy can get into the harbor and the relief flights start.

From the satalite photos, it looks like Cozumel is just getting the edge of the storm, so hopefully it won't be as bad there.

"they are on a really sticky wicket" - Now there is a very Brittish expression!

I sure hope there is something left of the caribbean when we get there.... :(

No more hurricanes. That is too bad about Grand Cayman, I have such beautiful pictures from my last cruise there. I wanted my mom to see how beautiful Grand Cayman is.

Julie - Do you have a store out there called Claires or The Icing? They carry cheap black gloves. Maybe a party store will carry them too with it being Halloween now.

Mom (jiminyc_fan) - Where did we see all the variety of gloves at?

Nancy - I could be wrong but I think the mexican night has been replaced by the Pirate theme night.

Mom2Princesses
09-14-2004, 04:23 PM
Wow, I have never heard of Pirate theme night!

Will our official documents let us know stuff like that? I am so glad you told me!

Are any of you ladies who are definitely wearing black gloves at the early seating time for dinner? I noticed on Pamela's website, most everybody has late seating -- anyone with early?

jiminyC_fan
09-14-2004, 05:09 PM
Heidi (PoohFriend), I remember seeing the black gloves at Party America when we were shopping for the 50th anniversary stuff.

:wave2: Hi Julie, welcome!!

I am so looking forward to this cruise. I don't even care if we don't stop at any ports other than CC. I know that Disney would just add one or two on if we can't make it to the Cayman Islands or Cozumel though.

I am thinking about cancelling our RonJon reservations and booking at WDW. Heard that Ron Jons will still be closed the first of October. That is too close for comfort for me. I just don't want to worry about anything anymore.

Gosh, I wouldn't expect anything less than friendly people on these boards. Thanks to all fo the good wishes......Now I wish I was really going! I named one boy Colin Andrew ( Andrew is my hubby's great grandpa who came from Poland to settle here) & Jatin Prabodh ( Prabodh is for my dad who came from India to settle here). I am typing w/ 1 hand while one is sleeping in my arms......Ahhhhh, being lulled to sleep in a pitch black cat. 11 room. What I would give for that now!!!

Julie, my DS, then 7 on our last cruise, was very happy in the club. They further divide the kids by age. I , too was worried he would be bored. But they move all over the ship and very often do get to go to the Lab (or the sports deck or Animator's for art and lots of other things). Don't worry. Plus if we all meet at the sail away, the kids will have pre-made pals to hang with, something that goes a long way toward helping them enjoy the club. The activities are so fun it can be hard to get them to leave. I thought the Pirate's thing looked pretty lame, but DS7 was not happy when we came to get him early for something or other we had planned. We parents can always help each other out a bit, too. And if you go to Palo and they know you are there, they work hard to keep the kids from paging. We are actually thinking of getting the kids to the clubs the first day. They make friends early on, which makes them more comfortable returning. The kids can easily skip the first night variety show. It will be composed of the entertainers you can see in the clubs at the first of the week, anyway.

To all, someone on the kids thread said DCL told them there WILL be Halloween stuff? Any other info, anyone?

Here's hoping all our ports recover. I would imagine they will do everything to get them back in shape quickly. Key West had requested a few days to let all the residents get back and get repairing under way, then wants the tourists back, soon! All these ports depend on the tourist dollars so they need us to return as soon as they can get us in. Grand Cayman, at least, should have the financial resources to pull it off faster than some of the other places. Having been in Miami when tropical storm Gordon, came and went and came and went and... Well, they put folks back in rooms that were not in the best of shape, just because they had to. Just hope all the reefs are O.K. We have been a few places even years after storms and the poor reefs can be really wrecked and dead. Poor St Maarten took a long time to recover from the major hurricaine they had years ago, but the shops were open, and the beaches were there, if slightly rearranged.

I too hope all of our ports of call have recovered from the wrath of the hurricanes...

But truthfully, I consider the cruise to be the 'steak' and the ports are just the 'peas'!

Just get me on the Disney Magic with my friends and family for a week, and I'm a happy guy. Heck, a mystery cruise could be kinda fun!!

"What's that, Captain? The weather's bad? Ok, well, whatever. Just take me someplace nice. Got any beer?" :teeth:

I'm with you Beano! A mystery cruise could be fun...especially since we'll all be "sampling" all the wonderful "adult" beverages, that even if we hit the right ports of call...it might still be a mystery to us. LOL :) :drinking1

...So, does anyone know the low down on the Pirates thing. Is there a Mexicali-Night, or has it changed to some sort of Pirates theme...and what is everyone wearing for either??? :confused3

So when are those docs coming? Everytime a delivery truck drives down my street...I'm at the window, just about as fast as my dog. LOL 'Course, I'm not barking at them, yet. LOL

please, oh, please hurry with the docs... :worship:

I have read and researched on the DIS and it looks like the Mexican night has been replaced by the pirate night, but most people are still wearing tropical attire to it. On the navigator people commented that the suggested dress for that night still says tropical.

I would be happy with a mystery cruise!!! If we have many more sea days, they better stock that boat with Malibu, Coke and limes for me!!! The drink of the days are always good too!!!

I really like the name Jatin. Very nice, creative names.

Mystery cruise...........sweet!

Heidi: I love Malibu and pineapple juice.....but can't help myself.....still my number one pick is the sailaway drinkie!!!!:drinking1

I wonder what the deal is with the "pirate night" thing.........they have never done anything like that before (at least not on any of our cruises)

Wish I knew for certain...I would like to be sure to have sumthin' "pirate-ish" to wear......?

Docs, docs, where's my docs????/

Hi Julie (Tinkerfun)

This is my first cruise, so I am not an authority in any way - but I have read TONS on these boards about the clubs. According to what has been posted here, they will sometimes allow a child to move up even if they aren't quite old enough (particularly if it is to be in the same group with a sibling) HOWEVER, they only allow one "move" per cruise no matter what. If you immediately move him up and he is unhappy with the older kids, you will not be able to move him down again. If you start with him in his "appropriate" age group and he is unhappy, you can then ask to have him moved up.

Since my DS in only 5.5, this wasn't an issue for me so I didn't really look at club vs. lab activities, but I do know that the club does get to spend time in the lab.

On another note, I have been handling the little web site that we have for our sailing. It is at www.bwdarrah.com/dcl. If you would like to be added to the list of "Who's going", just send me a PM or email or post here and I'll add you to the list.

Welcome to the thread!

Pamela

Hi,

Julie...the gloves can be had at any one of the mall accessory chain's like Claire's, the Icing, or Afterthoughts. They cost around $16. I'll be parading around in mine (and my tiara, perhaps) to late seating and probably all over the ship, as well. Also, I wouldn't worry about your kids being bored in the Oceaneer's Lab/Club. I literally could not tear mine away from it (DS8, DD11) on our Wonder cruise this past February. It was all I could do to make them sit for dessert in Triton's on semi formal night because I'd bought them the clothes and wanted at least a picture! The counselors are fantastic at knowing exactly what is age appropriate and "cool". Unlike parents. :-)

I'm worrying about my friend's house on Grand Cayman....can't contact them yet and wondering if their roof is somewhere floating en route to Cuba.

Anyhow, as long as Hurricanes Jean through Zelda don't do any more damage, there should at least be something left to visit by the time we cruise.

Hi Everyone!

I'm so excited. :bounce: I talked to Debbie today & got my dinner rotation(APL), & Palo/spa ressies. She was soooo nice! If she's an example of the rest of the CM's, than that's great! :)

She said Castaway Cay is about cleaned up. I was kind of curious about Capt. Marvin's, too. But like she said... They (grand Cayman & other port's) are pretty quick in cleaning up since tourism is their main source of income. Well, let's just pray that Jeanne just dissipates & blow's out into the ocean. :wave2:

Well, the jury is still out in deciding on buying black gloves. I don't want to be the odd woman out, though.
What's more of a big deal, or what does more people dress up for? Formal night or semi formal night (captain's gala)? Or, are they pretty much the same?

Anyhoo. Everyone, have a good evening. -Jen :earsgirl:

Cheri,

We are doing the 'half-day' 10AM to 1PM excursion with Captain Marvins. There is a group of 10 of us booked together for that outing.

That is of course if we even GET to Cayman!

Sorry, I don't mean to sound negative, but we missed GC last time, and that was only due to choppy seas. Given the recent hurricane weather and subsequent damage, I can't help but wonder ...I just really hope we can anchor there.

.....I'm starting to get reeeeally excited..... :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

So, what are people doing on Cozumel? The Capt Marvin's thing sounds great, but doesn't that mean that we'd have to give up the turtle farm and "Hell"? There has to be a way to see everything. I want to snorkle with the party crowd but I'd hate to get all the way down there (assuming we get there) and miss the turtles.....or is it not that big a deal? If it's just a bunch of turtles sitting in an enclosure like at the zoo, we could take a pass on that. (I just don't want to miss something cool for the 6 year-old.) So, help me out, oh seasoned cruisers. I'll sit here with a glass of vino awaiting your replies .... {take your time} :hyper:

BTW: I don't mind missing a port or two as long as the good vino is flowing, the kids are happy at Oceaneer's and there are people to laugh with!

One more thing: does anybody have the "LAP" rotation?

tinkerfun
09-15-2004, 09:55 PM
Thanks for the info on the black gloves. I have been asking everyone around here and several people have mentioned Claire's. I didn't even know we had a Claire's! (Or what type of store it was!) But you all seemed to know about it!! I guess they sell a lot of earrings and hair stuff. So I am off the the mall tomorrow!

Is anyone renting a tux on board? Or know how to do it?

Thanks for all the info on the Lab/Club - I think it has help ease DS7's fear.

How did you guys already figure out you dinner rotation? Can you just call and check or is it because you have cruised before?

We booked the 1pm Stingray City through DCL (Didn't know about Capt. Marvins at the time)

Thanks again oh wise ones for your incredible cruise knowledge! I can't wait to meet everyone in a few weeks!

Hi Julie,

We are renting a tux for my DH. We are renting from http://www.cruiselineformal.com & they will have the tux delivered to your room. I got information off of passporters.com.

Also, I called Debbie @ DCL regarding my Palo & spa ressies. (we have the REAS package). And, I asked her if I could request a dinner rotation & she said yes. Also, I believe that those "lucky" :) people in the suites get to request dinner rotation among other "perk's". (not that I'm jealous or anything). ::yes::

About stingray city... If you wanted you could check if their was a penalty regarding canceling Disney's excursion & see if their was an opening w/ Captain Marvin's. We too are doing the 10am 1/2 day w/ Capt. Marvin's. The more the merrier. :grouphug:

well, I hope this helped. I'm most definetly a novice cruiser, but I'm trying to find out all I can. I'm just a little excited. :Pinkbounc

I hate to say this, but from what I have read online, there is no more turtle farm -- literally! I have read on numerous websites that all of the turtle farm was wiped out, at least that is what the early reports said. Makes me so sad to think about...

on a much lighter note (I sound like the Today Show - LOL)...

I think we are going to shoot for the 8am Capt Marvin's with the girls. (lasts 2 hrs max) Then enjoy whatever we can of the shops etc, then take the kids back to the ship, the DH and I want to go on a submarine in the PM.

That is, of course, a tentative plan. For their own economics and sanity, I certainly hope the Cayman Islands can get everything pieced back together as quickly as possible. What a horrible time it must be for everyone down there right now!

I just found some info that the turtle farm on Grand Cayman may still be there. Take a look at the website at http://www.divetech.com/ - scroll down near the bottom where they have an update after Ivan.

I noticed in another thread that an Oct9 cruiser called Disney and they told her that if GC was unavailable they would "most likely" go to Costa Maya. If this looks likely, I'll add a couple Costa Maya links to our website.

So far, I haven't been able to find any information on damage at Capt. Marvins.

Regarding packing, I am just starting to lay it all out. Yesterday I got those plastic bags that you can suck all the air out of at Target. I figured they would help me organize the girls clothes (of course, we finally have summer here in Michigan now that the kids are back in school!).

I myself start back in school 9/27 so I need to get a lot done before then. Plus, we camp for 3 out of the next 4 weekends. I will be a busy gal the next few weeks!

Another Target find: small (.5 oz!) Purell Hand Sanitizer (type that does not need water) on a bungee cord to loop on your shorts, purse, etc! I thought that would be good for the kids, really don't want any sick children on the cruise! Also, I got hand sanitizer wipes, too!

09-16-2004, 06:14 PM
Hey Nancy, I got some of those Purell thingies at Target, too. Add a large Purell just to refill them, though. They will only do a couple degerms a bottle. Try to find the Target brand that does not have a pump dispenser, packs better. I am organizing a spot in the closet for cruise stuff. Hung the Duct tape roll over the hanger with my formal! Another past cruiser had a good idea, just get the large (and much cheaper) ziplock bags and pack a pair of shorts, socks, undies and a tee in each. That way the kids only need to grab the baggie of the day to get dressed. You can stick a straw in the corner with the bag nearly zipped closed and suck the air out, then finish the last corner seal.

Ohhh Carla -- We are good!

I am also using Ziplocks for my youngest DDs clothes, but the older one's stuff is getting kind of big -- I don't want everything wrinkled up (I don't iron at home and I sure as heck don't iron on vacation!). Thanks for the tip on using the straw -- I never heard that one!

Do they make larger than 1 gallon ziplocs?

I have the refill, too, for the Purell.

Realistically, is just one sweater enough for us in late October? I don't want to overpack on sweaters and jackets and stuff. I am thinking I will bring their little white sweaters and call it a day!

What about pants and capris for kids? Maybe 2 or 3 each? My little one is ALWAYS cold -- she's such a little thing!

Jeanne, We'll be at MNSSHP on Friday, too. There will be 10 of us, all in obnoxious matching t-shirts. I am only telling you so you'll recognize who to avoid!

We usually have our suitcases laid out for a week or 2 prior to the cruise, but we don't trust our new puppies... they'd probably crawl in there and, well...'nuf said? :crazy2:

The next thing on my agenda is to confirm all my ressies by phone, and print out confirmations as well. Airlines, resort, transportation, Capt. Marvins, etc. Gotta get all my ducks in a row!

ONE SWEATER and WHITE???? Oh, that's right they are girls. Maybe something for rain? I also pack a small mister bottle. If stuff is wrinkled, put it on a hanger, mist with water then shake hard. My standard method for dealing with just about all our laundry. My mom often washes and dries then pulls out the heaps and chucks it by the dryer.

Hi to Kamy, Tim & Beano.

I was wondering how Kamy & Tim have been with their move to Florida and the hurricanes? I hope you all are well.

We are moved into our new home, still here in Ohio. We have been here 1 week.

Kaleigh will be 2 next Saturday. I can't believe it.

We will try to warn the crew on the 10-16 cruise that you guys are coming and to have enough beer!

Hey guys!

Well, my first week back to work is over now, and I survived, even with Ivan coming through. ;)

We didn't get hit too hard, mostly rain. There was lots of flooding, but luckily not where we are. Stayed mostly west of us. But we still have quite a bit of debris to take care of. Hopefully that's the last of it for this season.

Everyday I've come home I've been searching the bushes and every nook and cranny they delivery man would possibly leave my docs...don't want to miss them! Hopefully he comes when I'm here...don't want to scare him to death when I come racing to the door, but I want those docs. LOL

I haven't started packing yet...I'm usually pretty organized and a somewhat obsessive planner...so I make a list first...then pack from the list.

As for doggie talk...my DH and I have decided to go ahead and get a new puppy. We had thought we'd never get another dog after our sweetie passed away in May, but our other dog is definitly lonely for the companionship and so are we. It's great having one dog, but there's nothing like having 2. So we've started looking. We probably won't bring one home until after the cruise...no reason to stick someone with watching our current dog and a new puppy (potty training).

Really looking forward to this whole trip...we're doing MNSSHP with Beano's crew before the cruise, then the cruise...then back to WDW for a few days. Can't wait!!!

Well, have a nice weekend!

Jeanne - We have 2 new additions to the family:

A 'Yorkiepoo' named Molly, which is a cross breed between a yorkie and toy poodle. (That is basically an expensive description of a mutt!!) But Molly is the sweetest thing in the world and DW LOVES her to pieces... so that's good enough!

My baby is a ultra blonde Golden Retriever named Bridget, and she is indeed my shadow. She jumps in my truck and goes to work with me, follows me around all day, then comes home and terrorizes Molly!

They are both sweeties and we are blessed to have them.

As for our t-shirts at MNSSHP, I still honestly don't know!

I expect we will have bright orange t-shirts like last year, but beyond that we still have no clue. Just look for 10 really loud, strange, excited goofballs running around Main Street, and that's us. Then pretend you don't know us, and you'll be fine.

I have way too many swimsuits and I am sure I will only wear 4 of them, but am thinking I need 5 just in case! I am trying to talk myself into not packing so many flip flops too!! I have a question for everyone. Would you like to have anything about the various "meets" that are planned put on our little website?

So far, I think, there has been mention of meeting on deck 10 for the sail-away, a wine party, and a meet for a photograph of all the black glove and/or tiara ladies. There may be others, but we are now at nearly 60 pages and I definitely don't have time to go back and read it all!

Should we have a page on the website that shows some or all of these various meetings? (Maybe just some if there are any that are "by invitation only") Since this is my first DCL cruise and I've only been on the DISBoard since June, I'm not sure how these things are done here....

If we want to add these to the website, then please post details of when/where or email them to me and I'll get them online.

Happy Monday everyone!

Pamela

P.S. I have "set aside" all of Darrah's clothes for the cruise, and like Heidi, I have a mental list of all my outfits (but I only own 2 swimsuits!) There is also a box in my closet that I have been throwing all the little stuff into (underwater cameras, new coloring books for the airplane flight, etc.) So, although I haven't REALLY started packing, I sort of have!!!

Well it looks we are officially not going to Grand Cayman :sad1:  :sad2: I am so sad because this was the only port that I was looking forward to going to, (besides Castaway Cay). We are going to Costa Maya, but I am not a big Mexico fan so I am disappointed. Everytime I have been to Mexico, it just hasn't impressed me like Grand Cayman. Don't get me wrong, I am excited to get on the ship and I know it's no ones fault, I just really wanted my mom and dad to see how beautiful Grand Cayman is and how friendly the people are there. I still will be happy no matter what, just disappointed for the time being!!! I am sure when I see the ship I will forget all about it.

Anyone up for horseback riding in Costa Maya?

Hi, Everyone

Well, I'm a little disappointed about missing Cayman and a chance to show John my friend's beach house and all my old haunts on the north side (that of course, assumes the house is still there) :-( I haven't heard yet how it fared. Still, I'm sure the Caymanians have their hands full pulling their lives and property back together and it is only polite to not visit and expect hospitality when they're in crisis mode. Where the heck is Costa Maya?

Pamela...great idea about firming up meeting times and places, lest we let these wonderful opportunities for group misbehavior go astray. I think we'd planned to meet on deck 10, portside right after the lifeboat drill for the sailaway party get together. We'll be wearing our lime green Disboard t-shirts for easier identification. That's about as good a spot as I can think of to watch the sailaway party and also be able to take a few steps and lean over the railing to wave at the terminal ladies in their big Mickey Gloves. Plus from the portside, you get to wave at all the people in the restaurants who come to watch the ships leave.

Maybe a dress up diva (black glove/tiara optional) photo would be best scheduled on formal night ten to fifteen minutes before the late dining setting. That should allow those with first seating to finish without rushing, and those on second seating just need to show up a few minutes early. We could meet in the atrium by the big staircases, as that seems to be the most glamorous and spacious spot I can think of with stairs to spread our beauty over. If anyone else has any other or better ideas for places/times to meet that are good for everyone, please feel free to offer them! We're bound to be on different dining rotations, but the atrium is so central it might be the least difficult place for everyone to get to and leave from! Suggestions, anyone else?

I have done some research for Costa Maya. It doesn't sound too bad and doesn't look like it is very commercialized with big resorts yet. I am getting more excited.

I was reading on cruise critic and some of the people who sailed the ports of Cozumel, Belize, Grand Cayman, and Costa Maya said that Costa Maya was the least exciting port and they wouldn't want to go back. Hopefully we will think different.

As I read, it seems like this port is more for the interest of water play babies than the land lovers. I can't wait to see what other DISers say about this port.

First, let me extend my congrats to Kelly! WTG on second place statewide! That is amazing, and requires a great deal of hardwork on your part, Kelly! Excellent job!

Next, I saw a place called Monkey Farm at Costa Maya. It looks amazing! It is off of Pamela's websites. Here is the quick link:

You actually get to pet monkeys there!

It reminds me of David Letterman's assistant who used to ask all the Survivor losers if they got to "see or touch any monkeys?" That cracks me up! :hyper: :hyper:

Hi, Everyone

Well, I followed the link on the Cruise Critic's site to
www.costamayacruiseexcursions.com (http://www.costamayacruiseexcursions.com) and booked a 1.5 hour beach horseback ride for 12 noon. It was only $35/pp and you get to ride in the water on the beach and through the fishing village. Since we own our own horses, we usually don't do the trail rides on trips (unless the location is spectacular like the Vegas desert or Pebble Beach) but this looked exceptionally nice. Let me tell you, the procedure for booking this excursion was impressive. You click on a link to reserve the excursion, then are sent an email confirming the availability of the date/time you chose. With that email comes a link to a secure site to pay a 20% deposit via credit card (only $14 for the two of us, and completely refundable if the ship cannot dock due to inclement weather/conditions, etc.).

Since I wasn't sure what time we'd be in port, I was a little reluctant to book this, but this tour company has a live online chat feature, so I asked that very question. I "spoke" to a very nice lady named Sarah who assured me that if I'd booked a time we wouldn't be in port, we could change the time of the ride at no fee upon arrival or get a refund of our (pretty small) deposit! I paid the deposit and this morning got a confirmation email to print out along with an unbelievably detailed photo map of the Costa Maya arrival area and exactly where to walk to meet our tour rep for the ride! The tour company is based out of Grand Cayman and also does excursions there. If the horseback ride is anywhere near as high quality as the reservation process, we are bound to be pleased. We're riding at 12...anyone want to join us? :-)

Even if you don't, the technology is worth a visit on its own!

We leave Chicago for Orlando one month from today!!!!!

Oh...forgot one important thing I learned from the Cruise Critic's site about Costa Maya...someone who'd been there several times on another cruise line said if you plan on using the beach right by the cruise ship pier, bring water shoes. She said the area is extremely rocky and painful to traverse if barefoot. When I looked at the overhead picture of the pier area I got from the excursion company, I could see that was true. There's a significant amount of ouchy looking terrain to negotiate before you can get in the water, and I'm guessing it will be too hot to just sit on the beach for very long without going in to cool off...saltwater swimming pool notwithstanding. I'm thinking already about five thousand cruise ship passengers (Magic's and anyone else's in port that day) all trying to get in that pool. So, those of tender feet...ye be warned!

Mom2Princesses

I emailed the Costa Maya cruise excursion about their age requirements etc for kids and received a very nice email back, which follows:

Good morning,

You are correct, Grand Cayman will not be visited by the Magic, Costa Maya has been confirmed as the alternate Port on the 26th of October.

We do not have a minimum age for snorkeling, the snorkeling area is 10 to 15ft deep and water comfort is required. If your children are comfortable in the water they will surely have a great time.

The horseback is much the same, if kids are comfortable around the horses at time of excursion they will be able to ride their own horse (5 yrs and up) or can choose to ride with parents (5yrs to 9yrs old)

Both excursions are approximately 1.5hrs in length and both are great for kids. We also offer a beach break which has been very popular with parents and children alike for other visiting Ships, additional information can be found on our website for all above excursions.

We currently show availability for both excursions on the 10:00am slots, please do reserve early as only 14 passengers can take part in the snorkeling at one time and only 8 horses are ridden at one time.

Please let us know your interest in order to send you additional information as well as our secure reservation page.

Thank you,

Matt

I never mentioned my DDs ages because I was worried I would get the "they are the perfect age" routine. Needless to say, I cannot take them on either the horseback (DD6 could) nor the snorkel (again, DD 6 could).
I am thinking that the monkey farm and the beach will probably be where we end up. I have never ridden a horse in my life (total city girl, here!)!!! Can I just hop on one having never been on before, or would it be too painful? That horseback ride on the beach looks soooooooooo nice!

Nancy,

I did the live chat yesterday as Denise was talking about. I spoke w/ a very nice woman by the name of Tracy. She said that we could bring our DS-3.5yrs on the snorkling excursion & as like Capt. Marvin's he would be free. The only thing is that we would have to bring a Life vest/jacket as they don't have one small enough for my DS. So, we might be doing the snorkling excursion. ??? Still in the deciding process.

Also, on cruise critic several people talked about Mahahual Beach. It looks beautiful, no rocks, easy to get to. Worth investigating @ least. :sunny:

Jen --

That is good to know! Chloe will no way go for it, I don't think, anyway. She is not real comfortable in the water, especially lake water...couple that with SALT water and she is REALLY out of her comfort zone!

I could chance it, but I really don't want to be stuck doing everything in sessions, ie first my DH and DD , then me and DD, etc. I want to be able to do it together, know what I mean?

How wrong is it to leave the 4 year old on the ship???????

It breaks my heart to think about doing that! I just don't think I can -- poor Chloe ALWAYS gets left out for parties, shopping, Girl Scouts, etc...I cannot keep doing it to her -- or she's going to get a complex!

Anyway, bye for now....

Denise - I would love to go horseback riding with you. I asked other cruisers and only got one response. So I am in for sure and I will talk to Bonnie to see if she is in for sure, Bonnie is a part of the Dudettes. Do you know if you are allowed to run with the horses? I love horses but don't really like trail rides. I will go either way, but I would like to be able to take more control than a regular trail ride. I am so excited to go horseback riding because I have always wanted to ride on the beach. Is the exursion close to the fishing town? (Mahahual - don't know how to spell it!!)

Have you seen any reviews regarding the horseback rides? I read one review that stated she was told that they could run with the horses, but when she got there it wasn't allowed and they didn't get anywhere near the ocean like they were told.

Nancy - I am sure they will assign horses based on skill and experience. You would have a great time. You can easily get on the horse. Trail horses usually just follow each other, best way for a first timer. I say go for it!!

Nancy,

I here what your saying about Chloe. It's kind of the same thing for My DS 3, Joey. He loves the water, say's he want's to go, but I think when it comes down to it...He'll probably get scared. We are leaning towards Mahahual Beach, & especially if it's sand & not rock's. We weren't going to do anything on Castaway Cay, but now I think we will just get our snorkling experience there & let my DS Adam go parasailing. (he's been begging to go). :)

Hi, Everybody

Heidi...see if you can join the 12 pm ride...seemed like a "safe" time to assume we'd be in port! Would be neat to know others on the ride (great for having others take pictures of this definite Kodak Moment!)

I didn't see any particular reviews about the Costa Maya horseback ride, but I'm guessing like most public trail rides it is a walk-only event. That's to safely accommodate anyone who is not used to riding (you don't want a novice rider who is happy to just walk have to try and keep his/her herd-bound horse under control while the others romp off!). Our society's penchance for lawsuits ended most trail rides at anything but a head to tail walk.

Though I'd love to go for a gallop along the beach, I get plenty of thrills out of my own (ex-racehorse) Thoroughbred and will be happy just to sit on a horse plodding along the sand in what looks like a gorgeous environment. Not to mention the potential photo ops! The description does say the ride goes through Mahahaul (sp?) but that could mean it skirts the periphery for about two minutes! Still, it looks like a lovely ride and I'm encouraged by all these positive reports about this excursion outfit's reliability and good communication skills! It is also nice not to have to "pony up" (pun intended) the whole amount up front. I did notice the balance needs to be paid in cash or traveler's checks. I wonder how fast the Costa Maya ATM is going to run out of pesos? Guess I'll bring some traveler's checks.

:jumping1: Congrats Jen! I am so jealous that you already have your docs! (PoohFriend) Heidi's twin leaves two weeks before us and she doesn't even have hers yet.

That makes me not want to leave the front window. I am anxiously awaiting MNSSHP tickets, park hopper tickets, docs. So much excitement!!

Sad about Grand Cayman but we will try and make the most out of Costa Maya. After reading on the cruise critic board, it looks wonderful to me. Think that we will hit majahaul beach.

I am happy that Heidi found someone to ride horses with. She has always wanted to do this.

 all, it's so nice to hear that we are starting to get the docs I thought it would never get here. I will probably be the last one to get my docs because I called DCL last week and they told me that the docs will not be sent out until the 14 day mark and they will come via UPS. I went directly through DCL. So I guess I will have to buy the sailaway:boat: drinks :drinking1
I'm a little sad about Grand Cayman I wanted to "GO TO HELL"
Oh well I've already been there so I guess I'll be OK.
I called DCL yesterday about shore excursions they told me they will let us know when we get on the ship, as of right now you cannot pre book. Hey thank you guys for all your research on Costa Maya it's a great help. I don't care where we go anyway I just want to get on the ship and have some fun :cheer2:
Anyway, the docs race is on I will let you know when I get mine.

WoW! I want my doc's too!!!

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep watching for them...

I have added a little more to the website for Costa Maya.

Did anyone else have any thoughts on adding info on "meets" to the website? (see post back a page or two) If there isn't any opposition, I'll add the 2 meets that Denise posted the details on and then add anything later at the group's suggestion.

I think we are going to visit the ruins at Costa Maya. The Chaccoban tour seems to be about 4.5 hours long and I think DS5 could handle it. I saw Chizen Itza back in 1982 before there was must tourism and it sounds like this ruin is small but somewhat similar (still being excavated, in the jungle, etc.) Depending on the arrival/embarkation times, we might also visit Majahaul beach or the town. I saw over on the cruise critic board that some people have been bringing school supplies to the children there and that one of the schools is a Kindergarden. Hopefully, we will know more info from Disney soon, but if there would be enough time at that port I am thinking of takiing Darrah to the Kindergarten with some supplies. Maybe I can even get his Kindergarten class to make or donate something we could take.

Congratulation on the docs to those who have them already! I guess I need to get serious about packing now :)

I have had a really hectic weekend & week. My Mom broke her ankle & we took her to the ER Saturday AM & it is a REALLY LONG story. Saturday was Disney Dudette #3's daughter's :bride: :groom:.wedding. I had to work Sunday, Monday & Tuesday & fit in going to the hospital to visit my Mom. Today I went to see her early but then had to go to sign for a new car for my son. I NEED A CRUISE:boat: NOW!!!!!!!!!!

JEN & FRAN: Hoorah!:cheer2: for you two. No docs here:sad: but I did get my confirmation for my All Star Music reservations (things are looking up!).

I don't care where we go. I just want to GO!

Tomorrow at 9 AM I am off to the dentist. Then I want to stop at AAA to price park tickets but I promise not to stay away too long. Toodles:wave2: :earsgirl: JEANNE

MNSSHP ticks ... check.

Hi Everybody! I guess I have to re-type my post from yesterday - it seems to have disappeared into cybernet neverland.

Congratulations to those who have Docs! I with I had mine  It might make the trip seem more real. I don't feel ready - maybe I should start making lists, that always seems to help!

Does anyone else have any other thoughts on putting our "Meets" on our website? (The original post is a couple of pages back.) If no one voices any objections, I'll put up the sail-away & black-glove ideas that Denise suggested. If anything else should be included, please let me know.

I have added a couple of links for stuff in Costa Maya and a link to a cruise tip calculator that is kind of neat. (If you haven't bookmarked it, our site is at www.bwdarrah.com/dcl)

We are probably going to go on the tour to the Chaccoban ruins at Costa Maya. In 1982 I visited the Chitzen Itza ruins when they were partially excavated and in the middle of a jungle. It sounds like Chaccoban is in a similar state today (just a little smaller) and I would love for DH and DS to see it. We had decided that the Tulum tour was just too long for DS, but this tour is usually only about 4.5 hours, so I think he can handle it. Has anyone seen anything about this tour from anyone other than DCL?

I called DCL this morning and the CM I spoke with said that we would be arriving in Costa Maya at 7:00am and departing at 6:00pm. That probably isn't written in stone, but it is at least a point to start planning from. If we can go on a morning tour, then we should have a few hours in the afternoon for other stuff. The beach at Mahahual (They actually use several spellings - none seem to be wrong!) has had some good reviews. I am also considering something I saw on the Cruise Critic board - there seem to be some cruisers who are donating school supplies to the schools in Mahahual. There is a one room school which is their Kindergarten, so we were thinking of bringing some supplies for Darrah to give to them. Maybe I should talk to his teachers and see if his class would like to write a letter or something.

Only one month to go! Yay! :Pinkbounc

What a great idea to bring some school supplies along. It would be good for my kids to see that not everybody has computers in their classrooms.

Hey gang, any suggestions for limo companies? I saw the warning about Happy Limo. Have any of you used Tiffany Towncar before?

So, it's 29 days and counting, huh? Holy cow! I better start shopping - and dieting!

Pamela- I have had the same problem of posts not getting to the board - twice. I think bringing school supplies is a fantastic idea. My kids need to see that not all kids have computers in their classrooms.

 Has anyone used Tiffany Towncar service before. We were going to use Happy Limo, but I have heard such negative things about them not showing up. Any other suggestions for limo companies?

Hi all...

We have used Tiffany Towncar twice, and they were very good both times.

Then we used Cartier Towncar, and they were sub-par at best.

Last year, we used ******** and they were excellent.

I have a reservation with Happy Limo for this year, but now you've made me nervous!
What have you guys been hearing???

Maybe I'll cancel and go back to ********.

Still no docs here; and I'm with you, Cheri - except I need to magically drop 40 pounds instead!

Beano-
There was an entire thread devoted to gripes about Happy Limo. I'm sure every car company has unhappy customers at one time or another. There were just so many there that I don't want to take my chances. Can you imagine a car NOT showing up? Not enough wine in the world to keep me calm:hyper: at that point.

Hey - are you guys packing shorts AND long pants? What's the weather like? Share with me so I don't have to go web-hunting. I'm spending way too much tiime on this d***ed 'puter as it is. (The ***'s were for you, Beano, as you said you were sensitive.

Cheri - I am only bringing one pair of pants. It gets a little chilly at night. I wouldn't pack more than 1 pair of long pants, you might wear them 1-2 hours a night. I plan on wearing swimsuits, shorts, and tank tops the rest of the time!!

No docs yet

What was the website for the horseback riding? I am going to book them and try to get a ride at noon. I think I have talked 2 people to go with me as well.

Is something weird happening with the thread here? I received one of the email notices that BeanoC had posted to the thread, when I here came to look, I don't see anything from Beano at around that time. And a couple days ago I had a post just disappear after I submitted it even though I showed as the "last" poster to the thread. Even weirder, it looks like Cheri was replying to Beano, so does that mean other people can see the posts that seem to be "missing" when I look?

Feeling confused....

We used Happy Limo last year and had no problem. You do have to CALL them when you arrive in the airport, though, and they will send their driver to a parking spot and have them wait for you. Last year we walked out the side doors where we got our luggage and right in front of us was our limo! It was a surprise to my family, and my DDs had never been in one, so we were all a bit excited! We had no problems with calling them or with them showing up.

I will say that the interior of the limo is, for lack of a better word -- tacky! White lacquar (sp?) and royal blue, kind of 80-ish, not that anyone really cares when your on your way to WDW!!!!! But I would definitely not use it for a wedding (yuk!)

We have re-booked them for MCO to CBR and CBR to DCL - but only the town car this time! I have also heard horror stories, so I am calling to confirm the night before each leg -- just to ease my own worries!

So, been away for a week due to a lost parrot, found him after a massive "bird hunt", exhausted family and me.

What? No Cayman, how do you all know? Do your docs say that, or can someone give me a link? Ours are held by a TA and will probably be really late with the latest round of cruising mess. The phone lines are clogged since this weeks cruises are once again messed up. Well, who knows, whatever may be true today will change with the next round of the Caribbean and Florida's personal trial by wind and water. Anyone have a link specific for our date?

Hi Beano,

As host, do you have any preference as to the type of wine we bring to your party? Dry or Sweet, Red or White, variatal?

Dan (DH) is thinking it would be "best" for him to bring wine from home and carry it down in case he can't find anything "good" at a store once we are in Florida. I am worried - our carryon luggage is going to be rediculous! :) !!!

Is admission a bottle of wine per person or per couple? (I can't drink wine, so could I bring my own alternate beverage?)

Not much less than a month to go and I've already started some packing.... (I have Darrah's clothes, pajamas & swimsuits all packed up. The storage bags for each days clothes and sucking out the air with a straw worked great!)

Just, please, no more hurricanes.

Pamela

BeanoC
09-26-2004, 07:15 PM
Hi Pamela,

First of all... "Amen" to no more hurricanes!!:D

I have my own personal preference of wines, but I would never ask you to bring something based on that... I want my guests happy!! Use your own taste, and that will be fine.

A bottle of wine per couple is great. There is really no "admission", per se. Bring one, bring two, bring three. Show up empty handed and you're still quite welcome. (You might leave thirsty, but welcomed!!) LOL

P.S. We won't stand on etiquette here - if you bring a nice bottle of wine that doesn't get opened, we'll insist you take it with you, so don't be shy!!

I did add info on the couple of meets that were suggested. They are on the "Stuff" page.

Happy Monday Everyone!

Still no docs, but I didn't have much hope of them arriving on the weekend. If they are UPS or FedEx, they don't usually deliver on Saturdays and our postal carrier tends to not deliver on Saturday also! (It is amazing how we get tons of mail every other day of the week, but most Saturdays we don't have any...)

Occasionally, I have these "art & craft" fits and try and do something creative. My latest was making t-shirts for Darrah and a magnet for our stateroom door. Everyone here just thinks I am nuts, so I am going to show them off to you folks where someone else might think they are as cool as I do :)

I made 2 t-shirts for Darrah. Originally, I was going to make 1 which we would use for character autographs (hopefully, guest services will just take it and handle it - but if not, we can carry it around.) I made the mistake of asking Darrah which character he would like on it. By the time he was done with all the characters he "had" to have, there wasn't any room for autographs! So I made a second one (without his input) for the autographs. The photos below shows front and back of both shirts - due to the magic of digital photography, we have Darrah and his doppleganger side by side :) ;)

http://www.bwdarrah.com/dcl/images/DarrahTshirtFront_sm.jpg http://www.bwdarrah.com/dcl/images/DarrahTshirtBack_sm.jpg

I also created a door magnet that is related to the first t-shirt (some of the same graphics and text) There will probably be more to the door stuff - maybe something with each of our names or something...

http://www.bwdarrah.com/dcl/images/DoorMagnet_sm.jpg

Anyway, thank you for looking - please don't laugh at me, I am only moderately insane!

The closer this cruise gets, the more excited I get (like always)... and this year, the more worried I get about this nasty weather!

T&K : If we have to sail out of Port Everglades, will you guys still drive up for MNSSHP??

And just in case the weather keeps us all out to sea a couple of extra days, (wouldn't that just be terrible? LOL) I say we have the mother of all DIS parties in our stateroom!

But truthfully, I'd rather see things simply go as planned...

So could somebody just give Pudge a PB&J sandwich, please?!!

(I wonder how many posts I'll get asking what the h*ll that means!!)

Beano, I bet there is not a single person on this thread that does not know why Pudge cannot have tuna fish.

Hey Pamela, if you let the characters use a Sharpie on his t-shirt when he has it on, his little body could be autographed, too! My nephew did it on one cruise, sorta. I had a bunch of caps for the boys and wrote their names inside. DN put his on while it was still damp and he had a mirror imprint of his initials on his head. There is a picture somewhere....

Still no Docs here. Willing to sail out of Port Everglades, hoping somewhere is left to sail to. Jeanne parked her little rear end over Abaco way too long.

Can I come to the black glove party if my gloves are not black?

Hey gang...

Well...we have a new little addition to our small Ohana...a new little puppy. :)

We finally broke down and made the decision. We've been going back and forth about it for a while, especially with the loss of our sweetie pie in May. But, we're happy with our decision...except for the lack of sleep we've gotten in the last couple nights. LOL :)

We got another miniature schnauzer...he's black with a little touch of white under the chin, on his chest and his toes. He's 9 weeks old...5.8 lbs (just had him weighed today at the vet). We've named him Madden. (Let's see how many people can guess where we came up with that name.) LOL

I hope to have some photos up to share soon.

Also got the "official" DCL letter changing the itinerary. Not that I care where we go...as long as it's on the Magic with my friends...I'll be happy! ::yes::

Well, gotta try to get the puppy to go out in the rain and wind...Jeanne is making potty training today nearly impossible. :) LOL I'm just glad we didn't get the winds like we did with Ivan...poor little Madden would get blown away. LOL

Oh...and Beano...if we have to sail out of the Everglades...hope you don't mind if we strap ourselves to your limo instead of driving all the way down. :) LOL

Dana - Congrats on your new addition!

He's a big 'un! LOL Our little girl Molly is 7 months old and she's only 6 pounds. Then again, my 'little' girl Bridget is only 5 months old and she's 50 pounds already!! :)

And I think I know where you got the name... so perhaps you should call him "Madden 2004" :teeth:

And Dana, you would always be welcome in our limo, but we are planning to hitch a ride with T&K to the port, whichever one it may be. We only have the limo to and from the airport. :confused3

Hey Beano!

What are the sending ours by Pony Express? California isn't THAT far!

now a question: how far is this Port Everglades place from WDW? Should I cancel MNSSHP the night before? How flexible are the towncar people?

If anyone decides to do the MNSSHP the night before, I do have an extra CHILD ticket. Evidently, I can't type and ordered one too many kids tix. anyone can have it if you just let me know.:teeth:

Cheri - glad I talked you into horseback riding, I wouldn't miss it!!! I am sure the towncar people are flexible, as long as you have enough $$$!!!

Dana - Congratulations on your new member of the family. Can't wait to see the pictures.

Okay I will take the bait, who is Pudge?

Most important: Where are my DOCS? Did they forget the people out West?

Anyone hear how Castaway Cay did while Jeanne visited Abaco?

Well, Pudge is the fish in Lilo & Stitch. At the beginning of the movie, Lilo is late for her dance class because she is feeding Pudge! :) The reference Beano is making to the weather and Pudge the fish is that Lilo says Pudge controls the weather! :)
For those of you who have not seen Lilo & Stitch, watch it! It is so awesome!!! :)

Beano- of course we will still go to the MNSSHP even if we sail out of PE. But no worries...we will be fine and the cruise will sail as scheduled...I have faith! :)

For those of you curious, PE is about 4 hours from WDW.

Last night, Tim and I could see the Disney Magic out of our living room window..(we can see PE from there). Yesterday there were a few ships there...carnival, princess and celebrity.

I am so ready to cruise........gotta start packing! Actually, we first have to UNPACK our stuff so I can find everything...ah, the joy of moving!

Heidi, sorry I forget some folks do not have kids and have not watched Lilo and Stitch 60 gazillion times.

I think it is now official, I have emailed every tour operator within a 65km distance of Costa Maya. I want to see that biopreserve, I want to see all the ruins, I have always wanted to dive Belize, and here we will be within an hour of the reef, but it does not look like you can get there. ARGGGHHH! Making me crazy. Leanne and Pamela, saw your other posts here and at CruiseCritic. Just don't want to veg on the beach knowing what is nearby. On the wine night, remind DH and I to tell you about our Mexican Indiana Jones Adventure in the early days of Can Cun and before Playa del Carmen had Tourista-free restaurants. I want to re-heat my souffle and take the kids along!

Hi Carla,

I really want to get to the ruins also.... I visited Cancun in early 1982 when there was only 1 high-rise hotel on the beach and we stayed in a little motel that was fairly primitive. We rented a car and drove to Chizen Itza on terrible roads. That night we stayed at the "archialogicos" club med that was at the ruins and were the only americans there (there was a french and a german tour group there also.) The power went out just after dinner which seemed to be a fairly normal event and many of us slept outside on the lounge chairs around the pool! I don't think there was anyone else at the ruins the next morning but us and it was WONDERFUL! We were able to climb any of the ruins and walked through the jungle on little paths to get to some of them. I have avoided going back to Cancun since then since I don't really want to see the comercialization that has happened since then. I doubt that even Chizen Itza is the same now...

Although I don't really expect Chaccoban to be the same as my memories of Chizen Itza - I believe it is smaller and I don't think they let you climb the ruins anymore. However, it is probably the closest I am going to get anytime soon! If DCL runs a tour to Kohunlich, that would be more like it - but I don't think my 5 year old would be up to an 8 hour excursion. Have you contacted the Mayas Beach Garden resort about possible excursions - I was thinking of trying that since their website has so much info. Even if they don't offer the excursions themselves, they might be able to point us in the right direction. It seems that DCL has had the Chaccoban tour before, so that is my "fall back position"! I usually prefer to "go it alone" for excursions, but without much info on reputable excursions it is a little scarier here. Just grabbing a taxi to the ruins makes me a little nervous!

I would love to snorkle at the Chinchorro reef also, but in a single day I can't possibly do both! Since we are already signed up to snorkle at Cozumel (Eagle Ray Divers - 2 reef snorkle), it makes sense to try and see ruins at Costa Maya.

Please let us know if you find anything good on Costa Maya excursions!

Pamela

P.S. I think any color gloves are fine!!! I actually have both black and white and will wear whichever looks best with my outfit. I am still shopping in hopes of finding something I like better than the one in my closet! If it doesn't look too dorky, I will wear my tiara also :p

Oh I see. I have watched Lilo and Stitch but a long time ago with my boyfriend's twin daughters. I must have missed that part to make popcorn!!

Carla - you don't think that we can get to the reef to snorkel at Belize? Isn't that the reef that is supose to be the second largest in the world?

Okay someone please inform/enlighten me on what is so spectacular about the ruins. I hear a lot of talk about the ruins but never have explored the options of taking an exursion to the ruins. I have the interest, just not so sure if it is a must see thing. I keep picturing the ruins to be like the ruins in Mesa Verde, but different culture. Thanks.

Ok, I am so with you Carla on the part of going to Chinchurro.
I think it would be an awesome experience. I too, have tried finding a place that would go out to Chinchurro reef, and I heard from 1 place that it would take an hour to get there via boat & another place said 2 hours. :confused3 Also, it was my understanding that Chinchurro was off of Costa Maya's coast. Does it go as far south to Belize? If anyone find's out a way to get there, please let me know. :)

I have added a "MNSSHP" note to the "Who's going" page for those who I have noticed are going to the party. If I missed you or made a mistake, just let me know....

Carla - Since you have contacted everyone within 65km of Costa Maya, I assume you have tried Blue Ha Diving and the Maya Palms resort people? I would think one of them would be your best bet for getting to Chinchurro.... Even if they don't have a regular excursion, for enough $$$ they would probably take you anywhere you want to go. (However, I do not know if it is worth $$$ or not!)

Pamela,
I e-mailed Blue Ha & received an e-mail back fron Tanya Hawthorne, blue Ha's director. Unfortunetly, they do not go to Chinchorro due to boat maintenace. :confused3 I called Maya Palm's Resort (evidently the previous owners of Blue Ha went their, Maya Palms). They said that they do snorkel @ Chinchurro Banks, but it is 18mi off the coast & do to unreliable weather they only snorkle out there a couple times a week & they don't even know what day's that will be until it is actually that week. Also, it's $125.00 do to the longer boat ride. The # in case anyone is interested, though is 1-888-843-3483. They also have a website, but you get more info calling them.

Hi everyone!

We were lucky, and survived Jeanne! We were suppose to spend the night at Pop Century Sat. night.......but decided against it, since getting back to Tampa would be tricky on Sunday. Good call on our part! The parks were pretty empty on Sat. so we wlalked onto all our favorite rides at MGM and MK. Chef Mickey's was yummy. We heard that all parks would close at 7 and ALL transportation would stop at 8. All parks were closed on Sunday. So, it wasn't that hard of a call to make. Disney refunded us all of our $ :earsboy:

Pamela,

Club Med, what a hoot. We actually stayed at the CM in CanCun when it was fairly new, took a plane from there to Chichen Itza, same thing, totally deserted and cool in the early morning. Major protein spills coming back over the hot, slash and burning jungle. The club had two groups back then, the swinging singles and the divers. We divers never went to the disco and met each early morning at breakfast, one small table or two full, to eat and take off on the boats. All others must have been nursing hang-overs. Never went to the disco or even saw most of the other GMs. Did a plane to Cozumel, too, when it only had a few strip motels and one resort, cannot wait to see the changes. We have to compare stories.

And Leanne, LOL,
I'm tracing the steps of you all, too! Blue Ha, (new Tanya) old (Nitro on Cruise Critic) now based a bit down the coast, rather than right at the port-town. The operations are just too small in this area to do something fantastic. I suppose it will come, but by then the reefs will show the wear and tear. Them's the trade-offs. Maya Beach Gardens seem nice folks but want over 50 bucks per day-tripper, plus the snorkel would then be extra. (And maybe dry? Wondering about LDS connections on site, not that I want to drink when snorkeling or riding buses on winding jungle roads.) Douglas Cambell-Smith, Nitro, suggests:

"If you want to do ruins and snorkelling then I would suggest the 4 hour tour to Chachobben Ruins and then come back and do a one and a half hour snorkel trip. The tours may be booked locally in town through Taxi Tours and the snorkelling can be arranged with Mayawal Tours. They have a pontoon boat that takes you out for a ten minute ride to the reef. You snorkel 1 hour ten minutes and then return. You can then get a taxi back to the ship for 2 USD per head which takes about 4 minutes. Hope thia has helped."

I've emailed Tanya again to see what, exactly, they may have for snorkelers. Got the same from them about boat problems.

Anyone tried Tom Steddum via the Maya Gardens yet for snorkel?

I think the beginning of Chincorro (Chinchorro?) is the reef that blankets the shores to Belize, Quintana Roo borders the country.

Heidi, the ruins in the Yucatan are monstrous compared to Mesa Verde. And they have trees! Like, huge trees! Some are pretty elaborately carved. Look at Pamela's links, then type in the ruins names on a search. There are two that seem to be parts of excursions from Costa Maya. Half day to Chacchoban, which DCL or the pier seem to have, then full day to include Kohunlich.

Anybody got enough room to pack a large boat? Or a private jet?

Even the beach would be nice & relaxing. One or 2 of these things are possible to do, and even w/ our 2 older kid's, but I'll feel so guilty as, well, you know what...if we leave our little guy (ds 3) behind on the ship the whole time. But, I'll let you know if I find anything. Pamela & Carla seem to know a whole lot more about the Ruins than me. I think Pamela is going w/ her Dh & I think they are taking their DS 5 w/ too.

Well, we got the bad news that Frontier is now abiding by the 50 pound weight limit on luggage. Now what?

pdarrah

Howdy,

Our current plan is to do the "short" ruins tour to Chaccoban and go to the Kindergarten with supplies. Darrah will be going with us. His school is very excited about sending something to the Kindergarten in Majahual and are going to write a letter (in spanish) and donate colored pencils (not too heavy and I have agreed to carry 20 boxes down there.) I have picked up some regular pencils and Denise (Skylynx) mentioned seeing a package of sharpeners at a dollar store that she was going to pick up. I also saw some nice coloring books at Walmart and I was going to get a couple of those (not too many because of the weight).

There are 2 other schools there, so if others want to do this, I think we should either split up our efforts among them or if anyone else wants to bring stuff to the Kindergarten, we should coordinate and go at the same time so we don't interrupt them too much! Sandy - I am not going to be bringing much paper because of the weight limits on luggage. If you wanted to join us, you could stop at a Walmart or somewhere in Florida and get paper (plain lined paper or notebooks or colored construction paper)

They have been enforcing weight limits here in Chicago on every airline I have been on in the last 2 years. We used to travel with 1 LARGE suitcase and a carry-on. Now we had to get rid of the large suitcase and take 2 smaller ones. For the cruise, I am expecting to have to bring the 2 smaller suitcases, a garment bag and a couple of carryons for the 3 of us!

Yeah, well, I dunno, I guess, Jen, looks like the options are morning 4 hour tour to one ruin, then taxi to town, or grab a Blue Ha tour. Tanya says they do have a good reef within a 15 min boat ride from shore. My Kingdom for a VW and a tank of gas, and a good map.

A few weeks ago a discount book seller near us had a bunch of cheap Scholastic Capitan Underpantalones, or some such, in Spanish, have to get over there. They would pack light and be good for the school.

Hey Faith.

Happy BD Sandy!

Hate those weight limits, had to retire a monster suitcase this year that used to hold all of our stuff. Duh, we have four travelers, one suitcase, but it weighs over 50 lbs. Try multiplying 50 times 4, still much less than what that puppy weighed, but the airline wasn't happy.

Hi All!!!

I did post much earlier in this thread but I've become a bit of a lurker. So I thought being as there is only 23 days until we all go cruising that I'd better stop being so lazy and start posting again! :teeth:

So...I suppose I'd better re-introduce myself...

My name is Darren, Hi  (my username gives a big clue!).
and I'm going to be cruising with a friend called Rachel.

Were both Disney Nuts, I'm an ex-DCL crew member and ex-WDW cast member and my friend worked at Disneyland in CA up until very recently.

I'm from the wonderful cold, grey and miserable UK (well it is at the moment anyway!) and my friend is from sunny southern California.

And...you'll be able to find us in stateroom 6133 (just look for the crazy people  ), unless we get an upgrade, i'm keeping my fingers, legs and arms crossed for this (which believe me is quite painful ;) ).

Well I suppose thats enough with the boring re-intro bit, I don't know about you lot but my excitement level is now through the roof and I just can't wait to go. Were still waiting for our Docs though but it seems from what i've read here you are all waiting for yours too so I'm not too concerned. :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Recently i have been thinking, work sucks....so i am on a mission, to find me a wife down on one of the islands, get hitched and live the rest of my life dodging hurricanes and sitting on the beach, or just hide in one of those hidden compartments on the ship! All those in favor, say aye...

:wave2: Hey Darren, glad to see you around again. Can't wait to see you again and meet Rachel. Hope you warned her about all of us! :teeth:

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. What a nice surprise.

Patrick, let me just say that there are a lot of us women who just love to meddle. We will help you find you that "wife". All those in favor say "aye"........ :teeth:

Pixie dust to Beano's sister. How awful to cancel so close to the cruise. :(

We will be stopping for Pepsi in Florida so will probably just tack on school supplies as well. Like you said, paper is a weight issue. I was going to buy colored pencils but it looks like that is taken.

I was suprised to see that Faith beat me to birthday wishes and so did Darren!!! Must have spent too much time doing it on the other thread!!!

Welcome aboard Patrick. I too would like to hide away on an Island, darn work stops me everytime. One word...AYE!!!

Sending some Pixie Dust to Beano's sister. That is too bad. :wizard:

Hi Darren & Patrick,

Have you checked out our cruise website at www.bwdarrah.com/dcl yet? If you would like to be added to the "Who's going" list, just post here, PM or email me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDY! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :hyper: :wave2:

Carla, Sandy, Cheri (and anyone else who's interested) here is what I "know" about the schools. There are 3 schools. The Kindergarten in a 1 room building and has about 20 kids. The Primary & Middle school are together in a 2 room building (1 room for each) and there are 45 to 50 kids there. The High School has 7 or 8 kids. The count for the kids is from the end of May so there may be some variation.

We are going to just go to the Kindergarten - I don't think we can carry enough in our luggage for all 3 schools and since Darrah is in Kindergarten and his class wants to participate, that makes the most sense for us. If anyone else would like to bring stuff to the Kindergarten, I think we should try and organize ourselves and all go at the same time so we aren't disrupting their lessons multiple times! Although we don't have excursion info yet, past DCL cruisers have posted that the ruins tour starts at 8:00am, so I am assuming right now that we will need to go to the Kindergarten after the tour.

One last thing - I have added "MNSSHP" to the "who's going" page for Mom2Princesses, DudetteTwo and DudetteThree, BeanoC, Kamgen & Tarzanman, DMoss3377, and Soccermom-Cheri. Is there anyone else that is going that would like it added to their info?

Still no docs here either...

OK you guys here is a good "red neck" joke for all of us that are flying soon: :hyper: :teeth: :teleport:

Basic Flying Rules:
1. Try to stay in the middle of the air.
2. Do not go near the edges of it.
3. The edges of the air can be recognized by the appearance of ground, buildings, sea, trees and interstellar space. It is much more difficult to fly in the edges.

The Beer Prayer

Our lager,
Which art in barrels,
Hallowed be thy drink.
Thy will be drunk, (I will be drunk),
At home as it is in the tavern.
Give us this day our foamy head,
And forgive us our spillage,
As we forgive those who spill against us.
And lead us not to incarceration,
But deliver us from hangovers.
For thine is the beer, the bitter, and the lager.

Happy happy day! On the stoop when I got home was this plain brown box with our magical cruise docs in them...and they're right! (Last cruise DCL said I had two daughters named Noelle and no sons). :-(

Docs say Costa Maya arrival at 7:30 am, departure at 5:15 pm. That's good...if I fall off my horse I still have time to limp back to the ship.

Heidi, Coloradoans got Docs??? None here, still. I am growing very afraid. Looks like this group is a serious drain on the finances if I am last.

Cheri, can you get books in enough time? If so, I am willing to donate $20, if you can do it let me know. P.M. me and I'll send a check. Rats, wish I had know about all this sooner, Scholastic was just at our school last week and I could have bagged some then, we had two tables of Spanish language kid books.

Welcome to Darren and Rachel, what did you CM at?

And welcome to Patrick, who by now obviously does not need an introduction.

Don't know a single Redneckism, but I have been reading Eats, Shoots and Leaves. Now there is a compendium of malaprops, purely based on punctuation. To quote the author, Lynne Truss:

"A women, without her man, is nothing.
A women: without her, man is nothing."

Is it Land's End or is it Lands' End? The company denies they have a problem.

"New members welcome drink." Ms. Truss comments, doubtless true. Doubtless true for this DISer's group, also.

Just got home from work & the DOC's are here waiting. Oh Happy Day!
:cloud9:

DARREN: You will ALWAYS be Disney Dude #2. My son Derek is Disney Dude #1 (since he was the first one to travel with Disney Dudette #1 & #2) & Ted is officially Disney Dude #3. We are taking applications for Disney Dude #4, #5, #6, etc.

DANA: I love the pictures of your new "baby".

I feel like I am now OFFICIALLY going on the cruise. Hope you all have a great weekend. Toodles:wave2: :earsgirl: JEANNE

Hi Everyone!

School started this week and I am SWAMPED!!! You have all been so busy this week -- I can't believe how many posts there are!

I got my docs today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I should be more excited, but I am feeling overwhelmed at missing a week of school. The work I have to do before we leave is unbelievable!

Anyway -- I hope everyone who didn't get their docs yet gets them ASAP!

Thanks for all the congrats on the new "baby". He's sleeping in my arms right now while I'm typing...at just under 6lbs, it's easy to hold him and type at the same time. LOL

Question for those of you DCL Vets...thought I'd ask you before I call DCL. LOL :)
Can my DF Pat have his own shipboard account even though we're sharing a room, or is it one account per room? We always use the KTTW card to charge things to our room/credit card...and didn't know if Pat could do the same on his own CC??? If not, no biggie...we can share if we have to. :snooty: LOL

I'll call next week if no one knows. But thanks anyway! :)

Ok...I'm tired, Madden is sleeping so soundly, makes me just want to cuddle and go to sleep myself. :):cloud9:

Patrick, if you are talking about a 12 step program for the disboards then I need one too. Hello, my name is Sandy and I am a disboard addict.............

Same here, Sandy. As the cruise(s) draw close, I am here every hour or so! LOL As evidenced by my profile...

Well, work for me started at 1AM this morning.
Patrick, somebody needs to teach us that saturdays are supposed to be off days! Well, I am off the rest of the day, unless somebody else 'crosses over'.

I think I'll use the time to do something constructive, like fill out our docs!! :earsboy:

Next saturday is our "Disney Jar" day... we have one of those 5 gallon water bottles in our closet, and during the course of the year, we dump our change in it, along with a few bills whenever possible. Then we cash it all in for traveler's checks a week or 2 before we cruise.
Hopefully it will cover most of our on-board bill this year! Probably not, though... I'm pretty thirsty!

Redneck word for this morning: Bosed.

"Some people don't get dressed up for formal night, even though they're bosed to".

It's so unfair I want to do the document dance but mine still haven't arrived yet! :( Well hopefully they're winging their way over the Atlantic Ocean right now. :earsboy:

Patrick - That beer song is sooo funny, I think i'm going to have to tell that to the guys I work with, I think they'd appreciate it! :hyper: :p

Carla - I worked as a CM on the International program as a server at the Rose & Crown at Epcot for a year. Then more recently I did a contract working as an Assistant Server on the Disney Magic (Feb 03 - July 03). I'm looking forward to see some old friends again when we board the ship. Rachel worked as a CM in Guest Services at the Disneyland Hotel & Grand Californian Hotel at DL up until very recently.

Jeanne - I feel honored still to be Disney Dude #2, Your son, Ted and I will have to start up our own Disney Dude club!

Sandy - Yes, don't worry I'm going to begin to work on the 12 step program for disboards...
Step 1 - Ensure DisBoards is not set as your internet start page.
Step 2 - Remove DisBoards bookmarks.
Step 3 - Try and extract computer keyboard from your hands....
OK so it's just not gonna happen is it!!! :teeth:

Well it's just 3 weeks now until we'll all be aboard, in fact we'll be just 30 minutes away from our lifeboat drill, all I know is I'm happy as ours will be in Animators!

Hi All!

Well, I finally got too impatient and called DCL about our docs. They were sent to the TA and they gave me a tracking number. The TA should get them on Monday ("3 day select" by UPS and sent on Sept 29) so if she turns around and sends them to me on Monday, I should have them on Wednesday or Thursday.

It doesn't make me any more better at waiting, but at least I know they aren't lost!

Why would our's have been sent so much later than most of your's?

Pamela .... still not doing the doc dance

Aargh! I wish we had more info on Costa Maya!!!

I just received a nice email from a gentleman who has done some stuff with the majahual schools and a reply to my post on the cruise critic board - the Kindergarten is open from 8:00am to Noon. AND ... The only info we have seen on excursions (from a DIS'er who was on a cruise that stopped there a couple weeks ago) has the ruins tour starting at 8:00am!!!

Any thoughts anyone? Has anyone seen a non-DCL source for the ruins tour anywhere? Do you think just getting a taxi and going there would work or is that too risky?

We really want to visit the school and Darrah's school is very excited about it. I just wish we had some real info from DCL on this!!

No Docs!!!!

Hey Darren, after many visits to WDW over decades, we finally did the Rose and Crown for the first time last year. That was the best, just loved the CMs there. We had to wait a bit for our table and stood in the Pub and watched a wonderful magician enthrall our younger son. Met a bunch of Brit expaits (a bit into their beer), and had a rollicking good time. Had a long discussion about Brit vs. USA speak, centering around fanny packs. It was a hoot, one of the best hours I have ever spent at WDW, not a single ride involved. Prime seat on the water, what patience the CMs must have to have there to put up with all of those who want those tables. Great hard cider, had not had that in a long time. Then a lovely CM let my kids "start" the fireworks. Such a great experience, that we have scheduled another dinner there for Saturday after we get off the cruise.

Darren, still. Did you know Adina from Transylvania? I have been trying to find out if she is still on the ship. She was our server over a year ago and was such an amazing woman, she MADE our cruise. I have posted a few times, but no answer as to if she is still around. I had kept our tip stub with her real name, but lost it. I would like very much to bring her a gift if she is still there.

Rachel, we visited Dl a bit ago, and could not believe that that "familiar" looking tile at GCH was made by a funky pottery, Van Briggle, near us. Story Tellers had the best breakfast ever.

Pamela, I too am very frustrated with the lack of Costa Maya info, I have yet to find an independent for Chaccoban. Seems you can either book with the ship, or at the pier, but since all the pier stuff is controlled by the cruise lines, I bet it is the same. When we went to Chichen Itza years ago, we had an amazing guide, and it made all the difference. Wish there was info here on who to "choose". I wish I could find any info about the taxis, have not seen a single thing about indy drivers.

Gonna watch Pirates of the Caribbean right now and get "costume" ideas.

I don't know if any of you have read the new thread about the Costa Maya beach excursion. I guess quite a few people were disappointed with the beach trip planned by DCL. Something about the beach being dirty. Obviously you can't believe everything you read, but it is the only review I've read on the place. I'm kind of getting concerned. I'm not the type of person to just wait until we get there to figure out what to do. What d'ya'll think? It looks like our choices are horsie rides or the ruins, right? Anyone speak enough Espanol to play tour guide so we can find our own way? Or is that too dangerous there? Too bad we can't get over to that school. That was going to be a REAL education for MY kids.

Anybody want to stay on the ship and brush up on their "quarters" game? :hyper:

word of the evening: PARAMOUR
this mornin' I used the paramour on the lawn.

Cheri - I think we are going to take stuff to the school no matter how things work out. If we have to, we'll try and book the ruins with someone at the pier or a taxi driver. Definitely not my first choice in a rather unknown port - but I don't really think it is a risk in terms of safety - just may not be the best excursion. A taxi or "independent" tour may not have as good a guide (or may be better - no way to know), may not have air conditioning on the way there, may not have drinks/snacks available, etc.

If it ends up that way, anyone else want to "wing it" with us? We might get a better deal with a larger group....

If anyone wants stuff taken to the kindergarten and can't do it themselves, we will be happy to carry it there for you (within reason - shouldn't be a problem since you'll have to lug it to the ship!)

Cheri - I haven't played quarters in 20 years... I've had a beer or 2 since then though! :jester:

I never get tired of filling out those docs. :D
Nuttin' makes the cruise feel more 'real'. Now let's go already!

I leave you tonight with this redneck word: Bob War.

Just wanted to drop in & say "Good Morning":sunny: Hope the sun is shining where you live.

Getting VERY excited:jumping1: I can't wait for the cruise:boat: I am a PLANNER but excursions are still up in the air. I think Disney Dudette #1 is going horseback riding. #3 doesn't want to do that & I just am undecided (very unlike me) in Costa Maya. Key West is having that BIG festival. I think we will all be shocked:scared1: Cozumel - who knows? I JUST WANT TO GO!

Hope you all have a blessed Sunday. Toodles:wave2: :earsgirl: JEANNE
