What about a midnight fax?! Okay, I'll stop!

Not sure about the dolphin swim though - still thinking on it. Looks good but.....will have to wait and get a family vote tonight on it.

I have a question about the excursions for St. Thomas. Has anyone done the Atlantis Submarine Adventure? We are thinking about doing this & then snorkling at CC.

I'm so excited, I think my mom is going to be going with us! This is our second cruise & her first. We didn't know about the shrimp the first time, but now I'm hoping you will share a couple w/me.

Rock on shrimplovers!

We'd better warn the Magic now that they are going to be out of shrimp by the end of embarkation the way we are going!!!

Hi Everyone,

You go off to work and the world starts posting.

M&CKing-- we did the submarine on the western cruise. The only thing I would reccomend is to get the morning trip. We did the afternoon one and by the time we got to the submersion area the light was beginning to go. We felt that we would have seen more if we had been there in the morning.

I will be on the phone at 8:05 AM. I figure all you people will be trying at 8 soooo I'll wait a few minutes and then call while you are all muttering about the lines being busy...

I think pretty much anywhere is a good place to have the meet and greet. I will be wearing a lime green shirt I think. First I have to see if I can order it. I saw one in a catalogue and figured it would be a good buy. So that is something else to do tomorrow. I figure that I better get busy and order anything I feel a great pressing need for now since I don't want to have to worry about it not arriving in time.

Rae-- I tend to agree that Artists Palette isn't my favorite of the restaurants. I would like to have Jen, Alan and John see it the first time. The change is quite unique. Also would you add us to your list for the High Tea, please. I know Jen and Alan are interested and if I just don't mention it to Phil until we are almost to the time he'll be okay with it too.

Off to visit the treadmill. Have been bad this weekend because I wasn't feeling at all up to walking for 15 minutes straight. But my excuse is gone with the wind. Talk to you later Estelle

Okay you guys, I guess I'll have to get up early to beat you to the phones - I'm on central time so it is 7:00 am for me. Good thing I go to work early!!

And there will be at least two southerners joining all you Northeasterners!! We can be pretty fun also!!

Anyone interested in Mardi Gras beads?? They are usually a big hit with folks, but if you've never seen them they may not interest you.

Take care, let the dialing fingers begin!!

Yippee! We got all our excursions. Dolphin tour in St. Martin. My husband is golfing in St. Thomas . Mary and I are going to Sapphire Beach. Yes, we'd LOVE some Mardi Gras beads!

Ok, it is really me (lsutigger2), I'm at work now but wanted to report the happy news!!
I have fast diailing fingers also. DH and I got all of the excursions we wanted. He'll golf (with luv2dream's DH??) at St. Thomas, I'll do St. John Island Tour, Island Tour and Explorer Cruise at St. Maarteen, and YIKES! I've signed us up for parasalining at CC!!

:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

And I made to work on time - not that it matters - I am the "boss" as my staff reminds me from time to time!!

Hope everyone has a great day.

Got hung up in traffic this morning and got in a little late. If I could have remembered the number, I was ready to get on the cell phone while I was just sitting in the parking lot that they call a road! When I did call, I ended up on hold for about 10 minutes, but was able to get the Atlantis Submarine (10:15) in St. Thomas. That was the only one we wanted, so I'm glad we were able to get it. Anyone else going on that one?

60 days!!!!!!!!! I didn't think it was ever going to get here!!

02-17-2004, 09:49 AM
I'm still trying to get through! I think I'll just have to sit here for a few more minutes on hold!!!

Impossible to do this and successfully homeschool, and you know what is taking preference in our lives!

If it's meant to be, they will answer the phone before Michael's 15 minute break is up!!!

GOT THEM!

St. John Trunk Bay - 7:40AM
Pinel Island - 8AM
Glass Bottom Boat at CC - 9:45

HURRAH!!!!

We were going to do the Dolphin at Anguilla, but Michael is soooo against it. Until he is ready, if ever, we want to keep our excursions as family experiences - so maybe next time!

Anyone joining us?

I was getting worried that I had made a mistake by faxing my excursion form in, instead of calling. Especially after I saw that everyone else had gotten their's & I hadn't heard anything. But then my fax machine rang & I got the confirmation. ::yes::

I really appreciate all the info that I have picked up from the boards. Without it, I probably wouldn't have gotten the excursion that we wanted.

Hello everyone!

So sorry we have not been able to kep up with the growing board! A cold has been going around our family the past few weeks, and we just can't seem to get over it! At least it's now and not in April. This is actually Debbie's daughter posting because my mom is still sick, so I'm trying to keep up with you all!

My mom is signed up for the Palo brunch now, and she looks foward to meeting all of you!

I read that we are possibly going to wear a certain color the first day of the cruise to meet up? Has this been decided yet? Also, has a place been decided on to meet up ? Sorry if I just missed this information somewhere, its been hard to keep up with all the posts! Sorry if I missed anything else! Thanks for all your help so far!
Becky
P.S. My mom and I are going downtown today to pay the final amount for the cruise! I guess it is official now! woohoo!:Pinkbounc

Hi,

We got ours too!! I called at 8:30, waited about 10 minutes and then I talked to the CM for about 25 minutes so I am sorry that I tied up the lines this AM! She was incrediably helpful and had been on most of the excursion herself so I was asking lots of questions and changing my mind multiple times (yikes!)

We got the Rhino Riders on St martin and then we booked the St John Trunk Bay Beach and Snorkel as a backup in case I get tooo stressed out about doing St John's on our own...

60 days and counting!!!

Sounds like we all got the excursions we wanted. I know we got ours. Our friends are calling tonight as they were unable to do it this morning. But since we are doing the bus tours of St. Marten and St Thomas they shouldn't have much trouble.

Gee lsutigger real Mardi Gras beads. I would love a strand since I have heard about your parades since I was a little girl, last month, LOL but have never gotten even close. Do let me know if there is a fee.

Hi Becky, sorry your all having colds. We went thru that for a while and have finally gotten over it...mostly. So we're sending a little pixie dust and hopes for you all to feel better. I don't think that we have an "official" color but someone mentioned lime green bows or some thing of the sort. I'm sure someone will know.

Hmmm now I know why I had to wait until about 8:40 to get a live person and not Disney Music on the phone. Jeanie was talking to the cast member. I do understand why tho when we did the Western cruise I was on the phone for about 30 minutes talking and asking questions. They are really helpful.

DH just arrived with papers in hand and needs the computer. Talk to you all later. Estelle

Becky - I wrote you a pm to answer yours. Again, best wishes for a speedy and full recovery for your Mom, Debbie.
No color or special t-shirt has been decided upon - hey, why don't you come up with something!!!! (Love to delegate!)

WE will be meeting starboard on deck 10 after the Safety Drill so we can watch Marie with her sign on shore and wave back at her!

Ohhhh, talk about a funny one - Andy would call this "pulling a Hazel" so let me share it with you all.....I didn't notice the fine print in blue at the bottom of page 5, "Please be advised that nudity or topless bathing may be observed."

Count me in on getting our excursion. We enjoy the 12 meter Regatta. It can get really exciting. You get assigned a job--1st time I was the bartender and 2nd time I was a wench. Both times we won though. LOL!

OK--we are getting more snow. The weathermen have been doing such a weird job predicting this winter (or the weather has just been that unpredictable) that they have covered their tushies on this one. One guy said "We will either get a dusting, get nothing or get whomped." Uh---Duh!! I am hanging out in Westbrook this week for winter break and we are suppose to get 3-5 inches. Good news is I bought my girl's some new swimsuits and stocked up at Costco with sun lotion and goggles.

Not only 60 days until cruise but with that comes warmer weather here also.

Yeah we're going to get something or maybe not... I have to admit that being on the boat will be wonderful. I am so tired of snow, that is now ICE... and everytime I go out in the yard with the dog I have to put on my boots. Time for spring.

Rae did you read the thread about the unfortunate lady who lost her bathing suit at Typhoon Lagoon? Talk about your worst nightmare.

Skuba2 I kept looking at the 12 meter regatta. I would try it but my DH isn't a sailing person. The concept of going off on a real sail boat would not be his idea of a fun time. Ah well maybe in another life...

The treadmill is calling so I better go and make myself do my 15 minutes. We're going to NYC next week with friends and I need to be able to walk at least most of the time. Talk to you all later.

Pinel island is directly across from Orient Beach. If you bring your binoculars and look to your left, you can see Raisin Butt no problem!LOL!

We are still deciding what to do... Beach Rendevous, or Pinel Island. Still not sure of wanting to meet up with Raisin Butt ( or his cousin..) again. On our first cruise, we signed up for Pinel, but they gave us the option of cancelling as the waters were so rough ( October). We did & were so glad. Our table mates went & said all but about 10 people were sick on the boat & very few snorkled. The waters should be really nice in April though. Don't forget the sea safe- sea lice are more active in the Spring.. 2 years ago in April, 1/2 the ship had the rash from snorkeling at CC. We didn't, as we used sea safe- good stuff!

We went to the City this weekend and saw Hairspray & Little Shop of Horrors. Both are soooo good. Harvey Fierstein is the best. Estelle, we walk everywhere in the city- close to 10 miles. I love NYC! We went power comparison shopping for "Little Louie" knock offs on Canal St. & went into Vuitton to check out the real prices for the little baby one Taylor wants. She almost choked! She's armed & dangerous with price info now for our St. Thomas power shopping excursion. We now know the difference between an A rated knock off & the crumby ones. She's really hoping for a deal in St. Thomas...

Rae & Becky- got your PMs! Becky, hope Mom feels better! I'll have Taylor email you shortly. Rae~ I'll email my contact by the end of this week & let you know how I fared. Didn't RobinMarie want to join us for brunch too as I recall? Also, great job on the lists! You are a pro! DVC party- sounds good. They always load ya up with lots of logo graft... I tell them, I own 500 points, give me LOTS of stuff! LOL! and they do!We use the luggage tags & hats. On our Nov. cruise, they left 3 DVC lanyards in the room with the invite.

Deck 10 starboard is a good place right after the drill. We bring Taylor's Mickey Mitts & waive back to the DCL folks on the terminal deck during the sailaway. They love it! Now I don't wear lime green as it makes me look sick. I don't want to do that, as I would probably get quarantined! LOL! How about a Tropical shirt?

Sad news... My low carb diet has been severely trashed because of Valentine's Day! The good news is I got a lovely box of Bridgewater chocolates ( made 10 minutes from my house) that Oprah loves so much. I couldn't help it. Those little buggers were calliing my name. Did you know truffles can scream? I couldn't take the noise, so I had to eat them! I tried to send them to Oprah, but they never made it out of the house. Back on the diet tomorrow... I'd like to lose 10-15 lbs before the cruise, but at this rate- forgetta bout it... I'll just be my chubby self, but I'm lots of fun.

LSUtigger- Is the "at work" one your evil twin screen name :) LOL!
Have a hurricane at Pat O'brien's for me during Mardi Gras- love that place! Beads are cool! Bring on the beads, shrimp and lobster tails! Don't forget the chocolate lava cake, chocolate souffle and creme brulee cheese cake, mango tangos and konk coolers. Did I forget anything? I'm starting my "cruise basket" this week. Will start putting stuff in it as I go...

Love ya, mean it!

I have Robin down for 2 - let me know if you haven't received her info.

Also, I swear by SEA SAFE - if others do not have it, please get it! It will save you a lot of itching!!!

The thread about the lady losing her swimsuit had me laughing and the poor dear will always wonder - who saw what?! Know what I say! Big deal! If they haven't seen it before, well, SURPRISE! SURPRISE! SURPRISE! but you know that I was thinking - Glad it wasn't me!!!!!

Ohh, so I should bring binoculars and my telephone lens along when we go to Pinel, ehhhh? Hope they offer the same thing if it's rough, I can't do that kind of small boat motion even with bonine and sea bands.......agggghh!

IF anyone realizes that I do not have them on either list, please let me know now - I know we have 59 days left, but I am leaving earlier and don't want to miss anyone!

I'm in for Tropical Shirts! The louder the better for my 2 cents!!!
Either that or Easter bunny ears!!!! I am thinking of getting some on clearance just to be different. Love different!!!!
We will be wearing our lime green Passporter name tags also.

Hope everyone is headed for a great day - after seeing pictures of Atlantic City's Boardwalk this AM on the Weather Channel, I'm glad that they put on the DCL commerical with the sleeping Dad to counter it!!!!

Estelle writes: "I kept looking at the 12 meter regatta. I would try it but my DH isn't a sailing person. The concept of going off on a real sail boat would not be his idea of a fun time. Ah well maybe in another life... "

You should join us. It can really get competitive. I can tend to get seasick on the little boats--but you get going so fast and work hard to win, that you don't think about it. It isn't a sailing trip that you lounge around on. You have to have a competitive spirit. The last time, they almost cancelled it due to lack of wind. Actually, they did cancel but a few of us die hards stuck around to see if things would change. The wind picked up enough that they let us go. We ended up in a 3 way race with another ship's tour groups. We won of course. It became a very mental as oppose to a speed race.

Well--someone sent some pixie dust our way---the snow in CT wasn't. YEah.

I would love to meet to shake hands after the drill but probably won't do the food meeting. DH doesn't "believe" in message boards and the internet stuff. I met a group of my AOL friends in Vegas one year that I met online and have been chatting with for almost 8 years now. We all started out to loose weight but instead hung on to eachother through births, deaths and everything in between. It is great.

My daughters won't know anyone--6.5 (Jenn) and 9.5 (Christine). If you see a fair skinned, dark hair girl missing her two front teeth smiling like she is trying to touch her ears with her mouth--that would be her. Christine is a little shier--tall with long light brown hair. They will be there probably most of the trip----their idea not ours.

I also lost my low-carb (Atkins) edge this weekend. I do fine until my dh gets in the mix. No cholocates here---just some champagne. I did buy a new ATkins cookbook at Costco and actually was pleased. We made a Scallop soup with Cilantro that was really good and this week I was to try the chilled shrimp bisque. This is finally a cookbook from them that has pics and food that looks good enough to serve company without them knowing.

Well--Mickey may just have to hug a little more of me than I thought. LOL!

Skuba2-- Is you DH an engineer? I have a DH that sounds like they are related. Although mine is more than willing to do the brunch at Palos. He had to be drug to the one we did on the Western cruise. But after he discovered what a great deal of FOOD there was and how wonderful it all tasted he had to agree that it was a good idea. This time I just mentioned that we might be doing another one and he was instantly agreeable.

Rae-- I don't remember (senior moment) whether I asked you to add us and Alan and Jen to the High Tea. If I didn't would you please. And if I did...ooooooopps!

dianthus-- we are going to take the bus in to NYC eat lunch and see the matinee of Gypsy. Then dinner and the bus home. We are going with friends instead of the family this time. We try to get there at Christmas time every couple of years to do the Christmas show at Radio City. This will be a chance for me to try out the new knees and my very slight weight loss. I've lost 13 pounds since the second operation not by trying just eating less and doing a little exercise.

Jan--if you are lurking around here, the insurance company denied my last 15 pt visits. Seems I'm only allowed 30 a year and or procedure. That means according to them that my 2 knee replacements were the same procedure. Even though one was in September and one the following April. I must have been asleep a long time!!

The ironing board calleth! Talk to you later. Estelle

Rae~ I wasn't sure if Robin was RobinMarie. She had indicated on a post it would probably be one. Maybe I'm mixed up! OK! Are the high teas the same? What food meeting? Did I miss a food meeting? LOL! Probably for the best, I started Atkins again today...

Scuba2 - welcome! Where do you live in CT? It's a small state- gotta be close by... We didn't get the snow on the western front either. Usually it just dumps on us over here in our little corner of the world. ..Wow you are a fancy Atkins dieter- cook books and all... I drink the shakes, eat salads, chicken & steak. Sugar free jello. Stew Leonards has a whole carb free section now! I love that store! I'll be OK as long as I keep those darn screaming truffles away from me....

Estelle~ have fun in the City! It's a Great place to give some new knees a workout. You'll do just fine! Have a great time!! Haven't seen Gypsy, but I hear it's good. Congrats on your weight loss! That's terrific!

Talk to you all soon!

Estelle--that is too funny---he did go for one semester in Rolla, MO for engineering than switched to computers. Must be the personality type. Oh--he loves the food there. Just not a social butterfly. Hard enough getting him together with neighborhood friends--let alone people he has never met. He met my family at my grandmother's 85th bday. Just me and about 200 of my relatives in one house--literally. She was 1 of 13 and everyone from her sisters down to the 4th cousins were there. To say the least--he paniced.

I saw some cruise critic people on my last cruise--actually at the Radisson after the cruise. They were heading out and we were heading in. Didn't get the nerve to say anything.

Hi All!

My mom and I were talking about the cruise today and we have a few questions we hope you can answer...

1. How is the Paradise Tram ride at St. Thomas? It is the one excursion we are interested in, but we want to make sure it is worth it. Has anyone taken it, or heard good things about it?

2. Do we need to bring bottled water on the cruise or is it easy to get water whenever you want it? We are big water drinkers and want it to be easy to get or take with us on the islands. Also, is it free through room serivce?

3. How expensive are the pictures you can buy on the ship at shutters? Should we just take pictures with our own camera or buy them there?

Thanks so much!See you all in less then 8 weeks! And the tropical shirts on the first day work for us!

Skuba2--he sounds very much like mine. Not what one would call a social butterfly. He did manage last time to make friends with several of the people from the thread. I'm hoping this time he will be more relaxed. I know what you mean about getting them together with the neighbors or even casual aquaintances. He isn't really comfortable until he has known you for years. Now that I think about it though he is getting better. Since he is helping with the finances at the day care centers he has met a whole lot of new people. Maybe he is coming out of his shell.

Becky-- I can't help with the tram, we've never been there either. I think water is available on the ship without too much trouble. But I don't think it is free. There is a small cooler/refrig in the staterooms. You can get a bottle maybe two in it. But it won't cool it down to really cold.
As for the pictures from Shutters. We did a package purchase, you know a certain number for a certain price. I can't say that they were any costlier than having a photographer take candids at some function. Sort of like the photographer at a wedding. And certainly some pictures are of course better than others. There was a terrible picture of us on CC with Captain Hook. We didn't get it. You will find they take plenty of "candid" posed shots. By all means take your own camera. There will be loads of things to take pictures of that do not include mice, ducks, dogs or pirates. We took enough to fill a moderate sized album.
Hope this helps a little. Treadmill time. Talk to you all later. Estelle

Becky~ Each of you should bring a sports water bottle to refill. The drink station on Deck 9 has water & it tastes very good. You can order a pitcher of ice water with room service orders. They sell bottled water before you get off the ship on Port Days & lanyards. We buy a six pack of water & soda for the room, just for the convenience of it.

Pictures always seem to be a big part of our bill. We can't stand to leave any behind. The 8X10s are $20. There is a package for the 6X8's- $80 I think...but we usually like the big ones. We go to shutters daily & put all our pics in one place. The last night they offer a deal- buy 5 8X10 photos- get a DCL cruise picture frame/holder + a free pic of the ship- a $20 value. Buy them then. We are getting better with each cruise & only buying a few now. We take LOTS of digital pictures & bring an underwater disposable camera with us for snorkeling. The pics they take on the ship are very good quality. You can reproduce them at home. Barb has the printable waiver on her Castaway Club site.

The tram is close to the ship if we dock in Havensight- walking distance- 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile. If we tender, it's a taxi ride away. I think it's the same price as the DCL excursion. You can go anytime. Takes you to the top of Mountain Top. Great banana dacquiris up there ( there's those carbs again!) Panoramic views of Charlotte Amalie. It's like a ski gondola, with no snow!

That story about the lady & the bathing suit was too funny! Janet Jackson moment... She had a really great attitude towards her experience though...

Thanks so much for the help Linda and Estelle!! My mom is doing much better and says thanks for all your get well wishes!

We will be bringing water bottles it looks like, and I guess we will still have to think about the Tram ride.

If we book the excrusion through Disney and we tender, do you think they would provide transportation to the area? It seems kind of unfair to make us pay for the taxi ride!

I will have to for sure let my mom know about the picture packages and the special on the last night. I am kind of against buying pictures from there, except maybe one or two big ones, because I love taking pictures and plan to take tons of my own! (I'm hopefully getting a new digital camera very soon!) I have albums full of pictures I have taken and would love to fill one up with pictures from our cruise!
For those of you who have digital cameras, what kind do you have? I've never had one before so I'm looking around. Also, how many memory sticks do you think I would fill up on the cruise?

And I love the idea of a underwater camera! Will have to buy one of those as well. Do you suggest taking my own snorkling gear? If I am able buy some.

Thanks for all your help so far! I am so ready for this cruise!
Becky

Becky~ If you do the DCL Tram excursion, I'm sure transportation would be included if we tender. That would be odd if they didn't. Maybe you should call them to be sure.

We bring our own snorkels and masks. They fit better, don't leak and are sanitary. It skeeves me out to thing how many mouths have been around those rental snorkels... YUCK! We rent the flippers, as they are so cumbersome to carry in luggage. If you have a Costco near you, get them there. They usually have Body Glove, or US Divers this time of year - both good brands pretty inexpensively.

I bought a new camera for our last cruise & it rocks! It has a 10X Optical zoom. An Olympus C -750 -4MP. It has manual modes and the picture quality is outstanding. I bring 2 -256mb cards + 1 128mb, so I don't have to bring the laptop to down load. At HQ, that gives me over 600 pictures. I usually take between 350- 400. The nice part about digitals are you don't have to worry about film through airport scanners. There are some great deals out there on digital cameras. Try to get at least 3MP, a 3X Optical zoom, not digital- funky. Fuji & Kodak have ones in the $200- $250 range that are highly rated. Make sure you buy one with a viewfinder/ LCD mode, so you have the option of taking pics either way. I am an Olympus, Nikon and Canon fan. Just like the features and quality. There have been several very good threads about digital cameras in the last few months. Do a search for them if search is functioning.

You can get the fuji underwater camera at Walmarts for less than $10- 800speed film. Works well.

Hope this info helps! ~ Linda :boat:

"Little Louie"??? "cruise basket"?

Jan~ Don't worry, Little Louie is nothing like Raisin Butt... LOL! Taylor wants a signature mini "speedy" purse, made by Louis Vuitton. We call them "Little Louies". Remember, we tend to rename everything under the sun...Taylor calls mine the "Mama Bear Louie"- the bigger, real version...

I start a cruise basket right about now before each cruise. I put a basket in the guest room & anytime I think of something to bring on the cruise, I go get it & dump it in the basket. When I go to pack, most everything is there, except the clothes.

I should probably call Shirley & order a birthday basket for Taylor!

Hope you are keeping warm & well. Is Spring ever going to come! I still think you should should at least try Estelle's suitcase on for fit... Ya never know! LOL!

Hi all. I'm mostly a lurker to this thread, following the happenings for the April 17 cruise.

We are a group of 5 (2 families). If anyone knows of 2 slots opening up on the Anguilla dolphin excursion, could you PM me? We've got one family in but not the other. Bummer. Didn't call soon enough.

See you all soon.

Sorry Linda---I didn't read your post until today. We are in Stamford--where are you? Been here for 14 years now--moved from Missouri/Kansas.

I have done Atkins on and off for about 5 years now. I went off for my 3rd child. I am carbohydrate sensitive, so it is the only thing that works for me. Stews has done a good job with Atkins products. I made the beef tenderloin last night out of the cookbook and my dh (who loves to cook) said it was the best beef he had ever had. Have you tried Klondike's carb-smart ice cream bars? They have 3 sugars but are good for a treat once a week. I eat most of atkins advantage bars--don't like the shakes and you don't want to hear what the endulge bars do to me. My weekend fun put back on 2 pounds--so I am back at it today.

I totally forgot about sea and safe. I have never needed it but not sure if I was ever diving/snorkling in the effected area during the time period. I was stung in the lip by something while diving. I think it was a small jelly. I looked up Ron Jon's and there is one in Orlando. Plan on stopping there or asking my friend to order some thru his dive shop up here.

Zebra Stripes - welcome to our group. If you join us, you won't be sorry! We are doing the brunch list, so pm me if you are interested!!

"food meeting" - when we get on the ship at embarkment, we cal get together at the buffet and have our shrimpfest!!!! And the "Mango Tango"!

Estelle - you and your friends are on the list!!!

Still at my Mom's - her foot surgery yesterday went without complications and Michael and I are having fun "sleeping over"!

Hope all is well with you - I can't write much now, but I'll get back into the swing of things once she's able to be left alone!

Hugs to all,
Rae

Rae--Glad your Moms' foot surgery went well.

ZebraStripes--Welcome to our happy little group.

I have a nice loud shirt to wear for our greet. And since I know my DH will not be wearing a loud shirt we will also have lime green Passporter name pins on. Ordered them on Monday and they sent them out on Wednesday so should be here either today or maybe more likely Monday.

One really shouldn't wish for things...you might get them. I made some comment about wishing the snow would melt. Well it is melting...and now we have MUD. Yuch! The dog goes out and walks almost like she is tip toeing. Ah well mud is a sign of spring and spring is a sign of...CRUISE. Okay so that isn't really the way it works. But it sure sounded good. Of course now on top of everything else we are going to have rain tonight and tomorrow. Bah Humbug...oops wrong Holiday.

DH need computer so I'm out of here. Estelle

Gee Rae--was just checking the thread for the birthday cruise. I am impressed. An RN, that I can handle. But the handler of a drug sniffing dog. That is one super fantastic job. I am glad to know that you are a dog person. I would have a terrible time if there were no dogs around. Everytime I get mad at my girls I tell them I should have raised dogs... they are not apt to talk back and they leave home at 8 weeks. But I really am impressed.

Speaking of dogs... I got stuck with the Doberman tonight. The owner took her to the vet this afternoon and has gone off for the evening with her sister. The dog has lost 8 pounds in the last year which the vet says is great. No she hasn't been on the Atkins diet. She hasn't been getting any snacks in the evenings. So now she looks really good, nice size and shape. Not like me.
Off to let her out of the crate and then to the treadmill.
Talk to you all tomorrow. Estelle

I have been invited to go with friends to the American Girl Doll Store on Wednesday. It is apparently an experience and a half. We will eat lunch there. Maddy will take her Felicity who will sit at the table with us in a doll chair. Maddy was concerned that Felicity will be cold on the way to and from as she does not have a coat so her Mom and I agreed that she would be warm enough in her denim pants suit. But what Maddy does not know is that I have now knitted her a grey hooded jacket, a varigated red and brown poncho and a varigated blue and purple cape and matching hat. (The latter was made first and is my favorite--Estelle and I love purple.)

I sent for the Cruise video but asked for the DVD this time. Tom and I had fun watching it this evening and checked out all the options. We replayed several segmets so we could see if we did indeed recognize Captain Tom and Cruise Director Jim--and we did.

Have fun planning your cruise,

You don't have to shovel rain.

RAE: Glad to hear your Mom's foot surgery went well. Nice that you and Michael can sleep over and help her out!

My Mom has decided she is interested in taking a mid-April driving trip to Florida with me. I guess my job with Mother is going to be as her travel companion. We are hoping she will decide to move to Alabama for keeps as my sister wants here there. Being on her own is not a good plan any more.

Hi Guys!

Rae~ You are the impressive one! Speaking & writing in french! Mon Dieu! ( In my best Pepe Le Peux accent... ) The french looking for organisms on a cruise board... Hmmmm... I thought my response was logical given the request- Carnival's the place right now... Ok, perhaps it was tongue in cheek! No organisms on our cruise, right people! :) LOL!

Glad to hear Mom is doing well. She is in good hands!

Food meeting - gotcha! Gotta try one of those Mango Tangos! How do you order one? I'll have a glass of ice, one cruzan rum neat and a bowl of Mango soup. Oh, and you can bring a shaker too & maybe I'll look at that wine package while you're gone... tee! hee!

Hi Zebra Stripes! another CT person! Where are you from? Give us the stats on your group, please don't lurk! We are from Danbury, on the NY State border. Not too far from you Skuba2! Is anyone going to be left here in the Nutmeg state besides my hubby & John Rowland? He's not leaving on his own accord... Oh wait, my hubby will be out of town too. So there won't be anyone left to impeach Rowland! He'll be doing cartwheels... ( forgive my sarcasm... ) I used to like him too!

I don't recall if the mandatory cruise group questions were asked of you guys- Zebra & Skuba. Do you like shrimp, rum, or carbs? If you do, you're in...

But- it's a given, you'll have to fight for the shrimp, but that will be half the fun! Can you visualize this:

Melee breaks out in Parrot Cay! Embarkation lunch is overun by frenzied shrimp fanatics! These hungry locusts go through every shrimp in the buffet in record time! Then they move on to Topsiders, where horrified onlookers are amazed that they are eating at a record rate, but with forks poised! How dainty! :) Where's Bumba Gump Shrimp Co. when ya need 'em ???

Didn't mean to scare you guys! :smooth:
Rae~ For yours & Andy's B day cruise- they'll need to bring a shrimp boat in tow with the ship. Oh, Bubba... so much planning! Gotta get those dates out...

Seasafe- Ron Jon's didn't have it in November in their store. I was surprised. You may want to call them, as they may only stock it in "season", which our cruise is ... Get it from www.lifestylesdirect.com, home of the tan -thru bathing suits ( not recommended by raisin butt.. :) ) or eBay- about $10 a bottle, comes in SPF 15 or 30- great stuff!!

We are in for freezing rain & wintry mix in our little corner of the world tonight & in the morning. Darn, I forgot to sharpen the skates for my Jeep! The only thing good about the bad weather is- my furry, white tailed friends are really miserable!

Have a great weekend! How many Saturdays now?

Shrimp----Oh gawd yes---any seafood not slimy. Rum----oh gawd yes----dh makes a mean rum punch--haven't been able to atkinize it yet. Carbs----oh gawd yes----they just don't love me. That is half the problem. Or should I say they love me tooo much and just move into my thighs and stomach never to leave.

I haven't been up to Danbury in a while. We go up in the fall with half of SW CT. Usually make a day run as far up as Kent, go up the falls then turn around.

Hi all...real briefly as I'm in Orlando now on business and just put DH and DD8 on a plane for home and I'm so sad and I have to go to work!! I miss them already.

Anyway, shrimp...yes, I do like, just have to be careful I don't overdo it.

Carbs...can't get enough of them!

Rum...oh yeah

Connecticut...about 5 minutes from the world's largest casino. Yuck.

The dolphin excursion sold out in 1 hour!! I guess it is popular.

ZebraSTripes - Rum makes the trip more fum (I mean FUN). Watched "Pirates of the Caribbean" last night for the umpteenth time - always love the swagger Depp puts on the Captain. Just cracks me up. Shrimp too, ehhh? Okay, you are in!

Dolphin sold out in 1 hour! WHEW! Popular isn't the word!

Mom had to see the MD today to get her foot rewrapped, seems bandages were too tight. Cold and flurries here today, not like Thursday which was a balmy 52!!

skuba2 - atkinize rum punch????? Figure that one out and patent it fast!!!! Yeah, those little fat cells just love to stay around and wait for us to fill them up!!! Somedays I wonder if we are yo-yo's and not human beings!!!!

dianthus - don't be too impressed! I'm a short, fat, old broad that will stick by her friends through thick and thin, but cross me twice and you have an enemy for life! Now I know that's not the Christian attitude, but at least (like in twelve step) I can recognize my problem, accept it and work with it....well, 2/3 ain't bad! (Love Meatloaf!!)

English isn't my first language, so I am sort of adept at picking up others. I do get nervous if put on the spot and someone says, "Say something in "language"!" It's like, "What am I on display???"

For "Mango Tango" - just get the bowl of soup, cup of ice and bring your rum in a discrete container then inbetween shrimpies, you mix it up! Yeah, people look, but what the heck!!!! It's sooooo good!

Hi All-- Got my lime green passporter name pins in the mail this morning. Talk about quick service. Just ordered them on Tuesday.
Yes Jan we are definately arguing about the pt refusal. Just don't understand how a left knee in April and a right knee in September can be the same procedure. As Timon would say...
Ah insurance...gotta love em. Just saw Lion King 1 and 1/2 can you tell? If you haven't seen it I highly reccomend it.
Speaking of Carbs. our Girl Scout cookies were just delivered. Just what I need. Some thing to eat that isn't very good for me.

DH was surprised by the lime green name pin. He didn't know I had ordered them. He made some comment about having to find a shirt that would match the lime green. I don't think that he has one at this point.

Off to spend the afternoon at the ironing board. The more I do now the less I have to do later. I keep telling myself that is a good thing. Talk to you all later. Estelle

What is your first language?
Where is the line where you spoke in French? What did I miss?

ESTELLE: What do the Passporter name tags look like? Where did you get them?
I am thinking people should get the "paint chip" for the ALIEN GREEN Disney Paint and use a permanent marker to write their names over the Mickey and pin it on with a safety pin.

What is the shortcut to Rae's Birthday Cruise thread?

Hey this is the 300 th post on the thread. We are so great.
Do we have an official place to meet on embarkation day? That would be between boat drill and sail away. I think we do but can't remember what was decided. I don't want to go back and read the whole thread. Twenty or so pages is a bit more than I feel up to reading.

Actually, page 15 is the only one where we have our up to date listings and information. I am working with two cruise lists, so I don't want to mess US up by saying anything - but

We will be on Deck 10 - starboard side, mid ship (by the Goofy pool) AND waving to our dear friend Marie (who is making a sign for us) on the shore!

Possibly we can share shrimp and Mango Tangos at the embarkation buffet (Topsiders if nice/ Parrot Cay if not). I plan to be at the Port early (10AM).

Hello all...just checking in to say Hello. All this talk about shrimp is making me so hungry. Not too surprised that the Dolphin excursion booked in 1 hour, it does seem to be very popular and I hear they only take about 40 people. We got in that one at 8am when they opened. I wanted to get to the dock early but I am having a bit of trouble convincing DH that he wants to be there as early as I do. Our friends plan to be on the first bus coming from the airport. So maybe I can convince him that early is goooood.
I will be the one wearing a shades of blue Mickey/Minnie Hawaiian print shirt. I bought it years ago at CB and love the thing. I always hope when we are at WDW that I'll see another I like as well but never have. And of course our lime green name tags which will go really well with my shirt...not. Oh well.

I will check out page 15 and see what the plans are. And I promise I will write them down. Then I will give them to the brains of the outfit. He'll remember.

Got to go as we have to go to the day care center and clean the dryer duct. We have bibs that an employee makes for us out of old jeans and they are heavy. Lately the dryer hasn't been getting them dry even when they are on the highest setting for an hour and a half. Dead giveaway that the duct is blocked. Oh this is such fun. Talk to you later. Rae~ We should post a recap a week before we sail of the who, what, when & wheres - 4 W's... I have pg. 15 bookmarked.

Wow! That dolphin excursion did go quick! After Taylor's little tango with 5 large Rays in Grand Cayman, she said she'd rather not this time. I think we're doing Beach Rendezvous, or Pinel- still not sure. Neither fill up like the dolphin one...

Jan~ you are too funny. When you asked about Little Louie, I just assumed you thought we had nicknamed something else! LOL! HA! HA! They are leather & a treated canvas. You've probably seen them all over & not know what they are- brown & gold, lots of it at airports. They make luggage too for the rich & famous... not for me. I use the no name bags now, as it gets so beat up traveling. Cheapo luggage is the only way to go...
AG Place. Took Taylor to the Chicago one a few years ago- it's awesome. We had high tea there in the Cafe, with the dolls. Pink, white. Black stripes & polka dots- adorable! Haven't been to the NYC one that just opened. Thank god Taylor's out of the AG phase now, except the AG Mini*s rooms. If was fun, but expensive. We're into fashion now, a la the little louie thing... Still fun & probably more expensive....

Deb- You are an atkins pro! Too bad I don't like tequila, but the margaritas sound good!... Someone told me about Rum & Pepsi Vanilla diet. That still sounds like cheating. I usually only drink a glass of wine now & then at home. I only seem to partake when I'm on vacation, or parties. I am a Cosmos woman~ as in the drink, not the mag... The chocloate martinis on the ship are really good too. Don't drink with the choc. lava cake... chocolate overload....

Estelle~ Can't look at another GS cookie after Taylor's 4 year stint with them. I was the brownie leader & cookie mom helper. At one point, we had 3000 boxes of those things in my friend's house... Those thin mints are the best though...

We will be at the port early too. Taking Happy Limo from MCO, as those buses are too slow. Taylor will bring the mickey mitts for the sailaway & I'll have my telephoto ready for Marie & her sign!

Zebra Stripes~ jealous of you in Orlando right now. We'll make sure we save some of the bad weather for you. Wouldn't want you to go soft on us now... only kidding.. actually we are having a georgeous day- almost 60 in the sun!!!! WOW. Believe or not, we have never been to Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods. We must be the only people in CT who haven't. We just don't gamble & the City is closer to us for shows. There was talk of bringing a casino to the old Union Carbide Complex here in Danbury because of the proximity to the city. It was squelched... Thank goodness. I don't think we need that in our little city... Too much traffic, right?!

Gotta run! Ciao!

Good idea Linda - re: reposting all the info. I edit the Page 15 list when someone new joins or something changes, but it is back there!!!!!

Chocolate Martinis???? I'm into Lemon Drop Martinis - they are sooooo good!

Estelle - I'll be looking for you!!!

Thinking about cutting my hair to about 1 - 1 1/2 inches all over this week. Decided I'm tired of dying it red and want to see just how salt and pepper looks, but I hate the "growing out" look, so it's either shave it off or deal with it!

MOST excellent sweet wine on the DCL:

J&H Selbach Piesporter Goldtropfchen Riesling Kabinett, Mosel - sells for $25.00/bottle or $5.25/glass. We bought the wine package in August because our table mates were a young Marine just back from the Middle East and his wife and young daughter. We wanted to do something special for them - so we shared our wine package with them. That was our all around favorite and one evening we had two bottles because we all liked it so much!!!

By the way, we can ask Shutters or one of our own to take a group photo of us right after the Safety Drill and before the Sail Away. IF anyone is interested ----

Rae,
Would love an updated list of activities, etc a week before sailing or sooner if it is "final".

Just checking in also. Been a busy weekend and haven't been on the boards much.

Also, email is possessed again and it doesn't let me know when I have messages. Got to get it fixed!

It was 8 weeks yesterday. DH and I started working on a "budget". Hope we didn't forget anything.

Rae, DH doesn't eat shrimp *but I do!!* so you won't be having to "fight" him.

Later - having a birthday party at our house in about 1 1/2 hours and have some things to do.

I love the Lemon Drop Martinis & the Appletinis are good too. We sat in Promenade one night with another couple & tried one of each. Maybe we could get them to concoct a Mango Tango one just for you! Haven't tried that sweet wine, but tried ice wine for the first time recently at a friends- i think it's german too. It was very good, but apparently very expensive...

You are brave to go that short, it'll be easy to take care of! I would love to get rid of the length, but I'm a pull back type into a clippy when I'm running around doing errands. This is the shortest I've had it & it's just above my shoulders- collar length & it seems like my hair is all gone. I am a chicken with cut & color! If you want to do salt & pepper, just have them strip the color and do highlights & lowlights with color with foil. Then it can grow out naturally. If you cut it that short, it'll be easy to do.

That Shutters idea is cool Rae. One of the photographers on the ship, "NES" loves Taylor- takes a billion + of her everytime we sail. She's asked to keep a few of her portraits we didn't buy for her portfolio. I'm sure if she can find her before the sailaway, she would be happy to do it for us. Then everyone could go home with a copy if they wanted one.

I guess it's time to confess. DH and I are not drinkers. Especially me. The one time I actually drank an entire Long Island Iced Tea, I sat on the stairs and giggled like a fool for about 1/2 an hour. My two older girls were in the early stages of the teen years. You can imagine what they said. So I am careful what alcohol I take in. I did share a bottle of Asti with Jan on the 1st cruise, and managed that with out any trouble. I would probably love the sweet German wine. We did an event at WDW one year where we had dinner and wine from various chefs both from the world and from various noted restaurants. There was one wine I fell in love with and of course neither DH nor I could remember what it was afterwards. It could have been the one you described. I have sampled chocolate martinis when we were out with the two DDs who drink that sort of thing. I figure that since they don't really taste like alcohol I could probably drink most of one of those. Personally however I tend to be a virgin strawberry diquarrie ( I know that isn't spelled right) drinker.

Rae-- My mother wore her hair that short all her life. She had extremely curly hair and found that with it that short the struggle to detangle was a lot less. A funny story about her hair... a new neighbor asked her one day who did her hair since she wanted curls like that. My mother responded, "God and my father." I was totally embarressed, I was 9 and thought she was not funny at all. Much later I realized that she wasn't trying to be funny she meant it.

I think the idea of printing out the full plan some time before the cruise is a great idea. Just before the 14th. Maybe the Friday before would be good. That covers anyone who might be leaving early. We are leaving on the 15th to drive down. I can't wait. Almost all the snow has melted and left behind all the stuff that is solid ice. Where is spring?

Got to go day care workers are in need of the computer. Estelle

Not sure what I should do about my hair - DH is against the really short as is my Mom and Michael. Maybe Linda's suggestion will do it....will have to wait it out - have til Thursday!!!! AGGGHHH!

I also decided against buying the Sienna - something is nagging at me to "NOT GET IT" - I have learned from other premonitions that I have to go with what my gut feeling is. Dealership is being NASTY - the van hasn't even been made yet, and we've been waiting since December!!! So they aren't out any $$$$ - we gave a $1,000 deposit and I have asked for that back - they are balking, but I am sure they will come around....

Yes, the group picture would be very nice!!!!! If you can reach your friend, please do - in front of Lumiere's???

Anyway, time is getting short and I haven't even started packing - I think I need to get that going soon!!!!

Rae-- too bad about the Sienna. We love ours. In fact this is the neighborhood of the Sienna. We have one and our next door neighbors have one. And neighbors down the street have one, they got theirs after we all got ours so we say ours are the parents and theirs is the offspring. How two green mini vans had a red one is nobodys' guess. LOL

Jan--you asked for it. A margarita can be done with crystal light lemon-lime drink mix. Mix it double strength and add tequila. No sugar needed. The rum punch I tried to fruitier crystal lights--but it doesn't taste as good as the real thing. And I am unsure if rum is carb free. Vodka is rum free and when mixed with pink lemonade is really good.

Happy drinking

There HAS to be a place to find out about carbohydrate content of alcohol. How about a google search?

Jan :earsgirl:

Okay here's a thought. It would seem to me that the carbohydrate level in alcohol would depend on what it was originally. In other words a lot of alcohol comes from various grains, rye, wheat or corn. The only one I can think of that doesn't is Vodka which comes, I think, from potatoes. At least real Russian stuff does. This information of course comes from the one who doesn't drink much except a very occasional glass of wine. That's from grapes and I'm pretty sure there aren't too many carbs in those. Of course what do I know.
Had a bit of a scare at the day care center yesterday. One of our babies spent the weekend in NICU. The word was that she had Whooping Cough. She is a little thing our youngest and the child of a staff person. She was a premie and at three monthes still only weighs about 10 pounds. However found out this morning that it is only a cold and she is doing fine. Of course then we learned that our grandaughter who we knew had viral Pneumonia actually started with Whooping Cough and they missed the diagnosis. Said it was a really bad cold first now they know better.

And to make matters complete it is SNOWING!! Could we have spring NOW...Please! Have to run. Estelle

Okay, I talked to DD who is a college studen. She checked her Biology textbook. Alcohol is in a separate category. It does have carbs but a low number. Normally carbs are figured by using the number of calories and going from there. But alcohol has few calories so carbs are low. I think that means the drink is okay. Just don't eat the fruit floating in it.

It snowed here all day and we got probably 1/2 an inch. So it was really a non event.

Tomorrow is our trip to NYC so I will be gone for 24 hours. talk to you all either tomorrow night (unlikely) or Thursday morning. Estelle

ESTELLE: Hoping you enjoyed the outing to the Big Apple.

Glad the Daycare baby is OK.

When was Allie sick? Do you mean when she was a baby or recently? Is she OK now?

Thanks to Jen for the alcohol info.

I could not fine Lemon-Lime Crystal Light today, so I bought Kiwi-Strawberry and Lemon-Raspberry. I mixed them together--makes a good fruit punch. I am thinking that with some rum for those who want it, it might make a good tropical drink.

We had temps in the low 30s, but no snow! YAH!! My brother is bemoaning the fact that Syracuse NY is having it's 8th snowiest winter. He wanted to beat the record. Where did I get him?

Have a good day all,
Jan

Jan,
Although I am a big fan of the white stuff - your brother needs help, desperately!
After seeing those pictures you sent me of the incredible amounts of snow the area received - oh please, Jan, help him - after all he is family!!!

Carbs or no cards, I vote RUM whatever the poll!

Rae-- Have they finally posted the dates for next summer? I am still hoping that I can persuade DH that he wants to go. We can celebrate something. I'll think of...I don't know early Labor Day. LOL
Jan-- Ally has been sick for several weeks. Started with a "bad" cold. Which wasn't. The MDs miss diagnosised her. She actually had Whooping Cough. So they basically put her on antibiotics and said she'll get better. Only she didn't. So then they tell Mary and Jef she has viral pneumonia. She probably does. Of course if they had reccognized what it was in the beginning the course of treatment would have been different and she would have been back in school 10 days ago or more. She does seem to be finally getting a bit better and they hope she can return to school next week.

Our trip to NYC was great no snow a bit of wind and a bright blue sky (what we could see) and Sun. We saw the musical Gypsy with Bernadette Peters and she was fantastic.

Have to go as DH wants to use the computer. Talk to you all later. Estelle

Wow Rae! The Andy & Rae 50th B day thread is generating quite a buzz. I can't believe a TA has not posted interest in doing a group discount when the intineraries are posted. Maybe we can strong arm Donna onboard & explain you are "The Rae" as in Andy & Rae & see if we can get some info/deal going... I am a VERY good negotiator, as I suspect you are too... Just a thought...

I am typing this with one hand, as I have done something to my shoulder/arm/hand on Sunday & cannot move it. I am going to a chiropractor tomorrow, as I don't know what is wrong. Of course it's my left one & I am a lefty... I hope it gets better before we cruise, or Im in trouble for traveling... I don't know what I did to have this happen, just woke up with it. It's like all my muscles are locked up! Wish me luck! I never have these problems- I don't like it. Maybe I better start eating carbs again- my body is protesting! LOL!

Estelle- glad you had a great time in the City! How did your knees hold up? I hope you did well with them!

Linda - I firmly believe in chiropractic medicine - long stories but suffice to say, my Mother walks today because of ours and Michael had a pinched nerve that didn't let him feel his bladder full years ago, a few visits and he was fine! Just amazing how MD's will push pills but a simple twist, turn or move will fix the problem immediately.

So sorry to hear about your problems. I'll keep you in my prayers.
Sounds like it's stress related or maybe you moved a certain way and that nerve is pinched. The more you relax when the Doc is doing his work, the better results you get.

I know Donna fairly well - I do a lot of booking with her to get my onboard credits taken care of. I will do my best on 4/17 -but can understand that her job depends on certain things and I would not be able to promise secrecy if anything were told to me. Hey, why promise something you know you aren't going to keep?!!

Now I'm "THE RAE" - in Irish tradition, I am told that the head of the family is give that distinction "THE .......last name...." Okay, I'll accept it!

Just stay healthy for the next 7 weeks!!!!

Can she access e-mail? Could I send her a getwell note?

We are leaving shortly for Texas for a dose of WARMER WEATHER, visit to my cousin and stop to see Tom's folks on the way back. We may have internet access but are not sure. Any e-mails will be responded to as soon as I can access them.

Glad you had a nice time in NYC.
I went to Chicago on Wednesday to the original American Girl Doll Store with a friend and her 8 year old. What an amazing place. A department store for DOLLS! Expensive dolls at that. We had lunch there--a real girly-girl event. They have little chairs that hook on the edge of the table for the dolls.

Have a good week,

I wonder if we should use this forum to post our "real" addresses - I mean, most people could figure things out and it's really not that big a secret - but still.....

My dilemma is that I want to surprise my Mom with birthday cards from Disney friends this year. She will be 75 on April 6 and I just wonder if I should ask my DISboard friends to do that - might not be a good idea and would start a big problem, but then again.....things like get well cards, sympathy cards, special day cards.....

Just a thought before coffee and breakfast...

Hi Y'all! ( I'm a southerner at heart!)

The heat treatment did wonders for my arm... I have about 75% mobility back & the pain is not so bad.. Is getting better all the time. The Dr. said I have to rest... I am a gotta get things done person- the 4 hrs. of sleep kind. Get up early, go to bed late... Resting is hard, too much to do... But I will, as I want to be in good traveling shape for the cruise. I was very impressed with the Chiropractor. Never been to one. He came highly recommended by a friend. He also suggested a theraputic massage, so now I can go to a spa with my Dr.'s blessing! HA! HA!

Rae~ Be careful! You don't know what wackos lurk on these boards. It's not just the people in our "community" that will see your address. Play it safe. Do a general post & send address by PM, or just PM your "buddies" ( 1/2 the board!) PM me with your address & I'll send her one so it arrives on/just before 4/6/04. That's a cute idea! Love to do that for ya!

Jan~ Isn't AG Place the best! That was our first mother daughter trip & a memorable one. The glass doll displays are awesome in the "parlor" aren't they? As Taylor said of the Cafe at age 8- definitely a "pinkies up" kinda place, Mom! Very she-she! We did the high tea there. Now to get a ressie on the ship... Wonder if it will compare? Too bad Taylor couldn't do it too, she'd enjoy it. Tea for Wendy is a little girl thing...

Greetings everyone!

We bought snorkel equipment from Costcos last weekend. Victoria, my 6 yo dd, is very excited about it. I also bought her a one time use underwater camera and its all she has been talking about. I would have never known where to buy it if it hadn't been for these boards.

I also made a ressie for Motel 6 in Cocoa Beach for the Friday night before we cruise. I gave Priceline 4 tries but nothing 45 dollars a night or under.

Victoria had this week off from school and I took the the last three days off with her. It was hard to get us out of cruise mode and into winter vacation thought. We tried ice skating and Victoria decided it was harder than it looked. We also went skiing yesterday at Powder Ridge, what fun! I hadn't been since I was in grade school. Victoria did very well. We are all very sore today! The winter sport thing was my attempt to make snowy New England something to look forward to, not something to dread.

I keep checking the Cruise Line Trip Reports for new reports. I love reading about other peoples experiences. I've gotten the best tips from them.

Have a great weekend everyone. We are looking forward to meeting all of you! You sound like a great group.

Rae: What a small world! My mom will be 83 on April 6!!
There is a young lady in my office who not only shares my moms b'day with her, but also her anniversary!! She was meant to join our office family!

Glad everyone is doing well. Mom had some surgery on Thursday and is doing great but it's been a bit hectic for me. Siblings are no help!! and my DH is working and not available to help.

Counting those days. I keep reading and re-reading my Passporter cruise book. I almost know it by heart. did go shopping on Tuesday for cruise clothes, as I was sure all of you had already seen everything I own LOL!!

Take care

Rae-- pm me with your address and I will send your Mom a card. One question is she the sentimental kind or would she get a laugh out of something a little funny or maybe funky? No I will not be sending anything in questionable taste.

Jan-- Jen says to tell you that she has the 4 original AG dolls. They are put away. She also had several outfits for herself that were the same as the dolls. She had the sailor suit that the Victorian one wore. But her favorite was a lovely dark green velvet with a little white lace trim. In fact she loved it so much that when she out grew the first one we got her another in the next size. Unfortunately that was the largest size. It was a dress that Molly the one from the 1940s wore.

Gee too bad your Mom wasn't born a month later. Our Jen was born on May 6th. And our grandson is Feb. 6th. Something about all these people born on the 6th of the month.

We had a great time in the city and I had no trouble with the knees. I did have a slight problem standing up after the play. All the parts were complaining about movement after 3 hours of sitting in one spot.
I have been thinking that the time is fast approaching for me to get started counting clothes especially underwear. Just so I know I have enough. I refuse to do laundry on vacation. Laundry and vacation do not appear in my dictionary. In fact under vacation it says "do not do laundry during this time."

I hear the treadmill calling so I am off for my 15 minutes of fame. Talk to you later. Estelle

Thank you for the advise - I'll just put a thread on the Birthday/Celebration list and let you know when it's there so anyone can post. That is probably the safest way to go.

Sometimes I am just too trusting!

Linda, I am so glad that your arm is a little better. Poor thing! What an awful pain to have.

Estelle - glad your knees held up~! I've had a few surgeries on my right knee - I find that any one position for a length of time will also result in stiffness and some pain, but it's part of life, isn't it?! You are so right - laundry and any type of work during vacation isn't a vacation for us women! I was given a tip by a travel person years ago - take all your old stuff and throw it out after you wear it. I did this with pants/shirt/sneakers after horseback riding on Grand Cayman. Family and I do it with old underwear - makes room for the souveniers (like that huge CC gift towel).

I have a pile in the "classroom" of things ready to be packed. Need to get the suitcases out and start packing up. Michael is easy to pack - Tom does his own and well, I pack ahead then forget what I pack and have to look, then repack because I don't want this and substitute that, etc., etc.

Ohh, new horse in the family - Scooter out! Michael really didn't like him, so we now have an 11 year old sorrel (red) gelding that looks very similiar to Red. The horse has a name (ready for this.....MAGIC) - but Michael says he wants to change it.

I learn so much everyday when I talk or read about horses - they are all different (personalties, quirks, etc.) so you have to really work to "match" human rider and horse. Plsu being a pack animal, they have to respect the rider as the "leader" - the one who will keep them safe from preditors and look out for their best interest.

Estelle~ If you still have those dresses, check out eBay. They have discontinued Molly's Evergreen velvet Christmas dress for girls and the Samantha burgundy check victorian one. I've seen the dresses going as high as $200+ ( Felicity one) They are very valuable. We were packing away all of Tay's AG dolls & clothes today. Saved all the boxes, so it wasn't too bad. Three huge storage tubs worth. All she left out in her room were the AG Mini*s rooms. Kind of a right of passage, she's becoming a true blue teenager now. Kinda sad for me... But the new phase is fun too!

Congrats on the new horse! Of course his name is Magic, you're a disney family! I love horses personalities. The one Tay rode- Eve, or "Evening Out" ( show name ) was definitely a PMSer... Tay was the only one she liked. She was very diffcult with everyone else at the farm. That horse spooked so easily, especially around birds... I loved that horse, but was always nervous when Taylor was jumping at shows with her, so unpredictable... The other one Kyrstal ( Krystal Klear)- was a grande diva. Couldn't get too close behind her, or she'd make mean faces & bite the horse following her, upsetting the rider accordingly... She was lightning quick- pure white- georgeous mare. Taylor always seemed to love the difficult ones.... making me a bit crazy...

Haven't done anything for the cruise yet- too early. I like that last minute rush of adrenaline... :)

Arm is gettin better everyday. It was just so wierd! Thanks for your good wishes.

Rae-- Got a quick laugh this morning when I checked your last post. That is going to be some cruise next year...May--August. Wouldn't that be a trip! Four monthes on the Magic. I could handle that.
I have never ridden a horse except for a few pony rides as a child. My Mother however was an avid horsewoman. She was offered the opportunity to purchase her favorite for a dollar. Her name was Firefly. She had been a Philly police horse. Unfortunately she had a non policeman on her and he whipped her severly. She took him thru a billboard, killing him. After that she wouldn't take a male on her back. But she'd allow any female on her. My mother being her favorite rider. My grandfather however wasn't enamored of the idea and told Mom no. Eventually they had to distroy the horse because she got so bad that no one could ride her. A shame about the horse, it wasn't her fault.
I have to get together with the friend who is cruising with us and get down to brass tacks about what we really need to pack. I realized this morning that it is getting closer and better get on the stick and either buy or order by mail anything I think I am going to need.

Off to the laundry. Estelle

Oh, Estelle - that was a pretty funny way to put the cruise down now wasn't it???? Well, I was "accused" of being selective about having "by invitation only" on my signature, now someone will accuse me of taking a four month cruise (as opposed to a "3 Hour Tour"!)
Speaking of Gilligan's Island, my dear friend Kristi just got her third horse....now she owns, "Gilligan, Skipper and Mr. Howell" - we are laughing so hard because she is making up a sign of a ship "USS Minnow" for her stable!!!

Michael chaned the name of his new horse....he is now called, "Cap'n Jack Sparrow". He looks so much like Red that people are mistaking them!

Got the BIG suitcase out and getting ready to fill it up!

Packing I am just not there yet. DH would think I'd lost my tiny mind if I asked him to get out the suitcases. However I have been busy counting things. Okay I need 15 pairs of sox and at least 7 pairs of panty hose. And the list gets longer and longer.
Today was an absolutely lovely day. We hit 65 degrees and I went out in the yard and sat in my swing and enjoyed the Sun and the blue sky. The dog got to stay out for better than an hour so she was happy. And the ice that used to be snow is slooowly melting. We have too many trees in the back yard so there is still a large area of ice. But the front yard is pretty much now just mud. And of course tomorrow it is going to rain. At least it isn't snow. Of course the way things go next week we'll have a foot of snow.
Off to the treadmill. Estelle

Estelle--wasn't it just gorgeous and just what we needed. We played keep away football in the back yard and I sat out and read a little. Man--what a weekend. I could use more of those.

Packing--not here either. The floor of my closet is just collecting bags right now. We take enough for 4 days--that is 2 outfits a day of course--day wear and dinner casual. We pack 3-4 swimsuits each too. We spend the 3 days before the cruise at Universal, so I am ready to do laundry on day 1 of the cruise when the laundry is usually empty. I am so allergic to basically all detergents but Cheer, that I buy some and bring it on with me.

Anybody out there early risers. I remember getting up and going to the coffee stations upstairs early and no one around. Of course, that was when I spilt a whole cup of coffee right in front of the doors to get back in because there was nobody to help me get them open.

This is something freaky---or meant to be. I was on a Carnival Cruise about 4 years back and I was going to meet up with someone from cruise critic. Well, we ended up not making the captain's gala and so I thought I missed her. Well, one morning my dad and I (we brought my parents) went up for an early morning coffee and sat down and started talking. Well, a woman next to me asked--are you Debbie from CT. It was her. Tooooo funny. It was like it was meant to happen. We spent the next hour talking.

Anyway, gotta go get kids to school--

We must be the only people in CT who haven't. We just don't gamble & the City is closer to us for shows. There was talk of bringing a casino to the old Union Carbide Complex here in Danbury because of the proximity to the city. It was squelched... Thank goodness. I don't think we need that in our little city... Too much traffic, right?!

Linda - The weather wasn't all that great in Orlando when I was there. But, as I had to be inside the hotel most days and nights, it wasn't too bad. I did get out on Sunday and went to Downtown Disney and a couple of the Disney stores at the outlets. I got to see Cirque du Soliel. It was a really good show. Every seat in the house is a good seat. They perform some amazing things.

My husband can say too that he has never been to either of the casinos. My DD and I are going to see Shania Twain at Mohegan and he refused to go with us.

Definitely too much traffic! And the same question over and over again from people "how do you get to the casino????"

I got my hotel room for April 16. Usually priceline gives me really cheap rooms at the airport. This time I had to shell out $45 for the Holiday Inn Select. I started at $31 and worked my way up. Last year we got that same hotel for $10 less.

PANTYHOSE ARE ILLEGAL ON THE SHIP!!! IT'S VACATION, MON!!!!Wear a long dress on formal/semi formal night! I'd rather do laundry than wear pantyhose in the Caribbean- yikes! They may stick to you so bad, they'll never come off! LOL!

Zebra Stripes~ La Nouba is the best. We like sitting at the tippy top so you can see the aerials well! I love that show!

I saw your link to the Cow Parade. We did the cow parade in Chicago & saw all but 2 in NY ( they were in a not so nice area...) My favorite is the Goldfish Cowboy Cow- yee ha! Now my sister is the world's biggest fan! She has one of the actual cows on her front lawn that she won at the NYC auction. She has over 100+ of the Westand Collectable ones- ceramic & resin. She has a funky house in the Hamptons, so it works really well. I gave her the London Cows- set of 6 last Christmas before they went thru the roof. Love that Beefeater Cow & the Celtic one.

Skuba2 ~ I am an early riser & love walking the decks early by myself, watching us dock, or sitting on the verandah reading. I have spilled many cups of coffee trying to get the doors open with 2 cups in my hand, as no one is around. Meet ya at the door!

Rae~ Emailed him late last week & I have not heard from him yet. I hope he's still on the ship! I'll let you know as soon as I hear.

Jumping is not my favorite subject, because it makes me nervous to watch her.. She's been thrown a few times, split her lip, mild concussion, etc.. but she gets up , gets back on & does it again.... As soon as she got the canter( day 2 ), she started jumping... She's jumps 3+ ft. category ( hunter?) I'm glad she's taken some time off from it because of her team sports. It has calmed my nerves emmensely...

I need to buy a new big suitcase. The current one got trashed during on last trip!

Just new to the group, glad to be here. I have learned a lot from you guys so far and look forward to learning a lot more. Just want to say thanks.
We will be on the 17th cruise also, my husband (Michael 46 & me Brenda 44), no children with us. We are celebrating our 25 anniversary on the 20th of April.I was wondering if someone who will be on the cruise could help me out with a dumb little surprise for my husband. His favorite thing is chocolate juniors from tasty cake. This is a Pa. thing. We now live in Orlando, Florida and can not get these any more. I was wondering is someone from the Pa. area could pick me up maybe 3 or 4 packs of these and bring them with them. I could meet you on the ship and pay you for them. This would be a cute anniversary present for him and a big surprise.I never thought of this until I start reading all these post and seeing how many people from this board are going. Any pointers or tips you could give would be great too. This is our second Disney cruise. The first was the 4 day. Thank you. I am so excited.:Pinkbounc

Welcome Brenda I'm the one who saw your post and let you know we were here. I'm also in Bethlehem Pa. so I will be happy to bring along Chocolate Juniors. We are doing our second 7 day cruise did the western at Halloween two years ago (I think) and had trick or treat with I think 25 kids from our thread. Everyone tried to bring something regional for a treat, I brought Just Born candy. Made right here in the lovely Lehigh Valley. So it won't be hard for me to bring the Tasty Cakes.

Welcome Kalama-- You'll be traveling half way around the world for this cruise. I'm with Linda on this one can't imagine leaving the gorgeous islands to visit islands that aren't quite like yours. But glad to have you anyway.

Just ordered a skort and a sweater from the Disney Store. Plan to wear the skort for embarkation. So I'll be the grey haired lady with Minnie skort a tropical Mickey/Minnie shirt (both blue) a Passporter name pin and a Daisy sweater. Oh the name pin is Lime green. I'm going to be an interesting sight. And I forgot a fanny pack in green. Well I won't be hard to miss.

The weather is lovely so I'm off to let the dog have some time in the mud , better than ice, and I get to sit in the sun and enjoy the fact that I don't have to put on a parka and boots. Estelle

kalama, you've got to read this entire thread to get the specifics about this group of cruisers. But, you can go to page 15 to get the list of who is going to be on the ship. You'll also get specifics about where and when we are meeting up as a group. The brunch is at Palo and Rae19 is taking names of those who want to go.

Brenda-- There maybe a problem with the Chocolate Juniors. I am having trouble finding them. I will send out the troops this afternoon. I think we have a parent at one of the centers who works for Tasty Cake. I will check and make sure. I checked at the grocery stores that I tend to shop in and they all have Tasty Cake products but not the Juniors. So I am not sure whether I'll find them. Does he like any of the others?

I have a question. Where is the embarkation buffet? I don't remember there being one when we sailed the last time. Maybe we didn't know it was there. Do they hide it so only the shrimp lovers can find it? LOL
Raining and muddy here but at least it is 48 degrees. The radio says we might see the Sun on Saturday afternoon. I can deal with that as long as it isn't snow. Estelle

Just checking with everyone! Hope all are well.

Things in south Louisiana are great - we think spring is here! It has been in the 80"s the past few days.

Am really getting anxious about the cruise! Can't believe it is only about 6 weeks away!

Is anyone staying at the Radisson at Port Canaveral on Friday, April 16? That's were we'll be. Hope someone is going to join us.

Have the Mardi Gras beads packed!!

Take care

Brenda--Good news! DH did some computer time this evening. I was at an under garment party. Don't ask. He has found about 10 stores in the Lehigh Valley where I can get Chocolate Juniors. He didn't buy any since we are still 6 weeks out. But he did find them. So it shouldn't be a problem.

lsutigger2-- We will be at the Radisson the night of the 16th. that's where we stayed last time and it worked really well. We'll have to plan to meet at the pool.

Thanks Ed for the info on the embarkation buffets. They'd better have lots of shrimp. Or it isn't going to be pretty.

Hello fellow 4/17 Magic cruisers!!

I was wondering if anyone else is cruising with their son/nephew/grandson who is 8 or 9 years old

I'm looking to put my fairly shy 8 year old son in touch with another boy his age before the cruise so he has someone he "knows" when he goes to the kids program. I thought if they could exchange a few emails or maybe a letter or two before the cruise, it would make it a little more comfortable for two boys who wouldn't otherwise know anyone in the kids program.

Please feel free to PM me and we can work out the details.

Thanks!

BCVOwner unfortunately our friends little boy is only 5 but I know there are several boys about the right age on the thread.

Going off now and call the TA before I expire of nervousness.

Estelle--

Your friend's little boy will be in the same program as my other son and our neighbor. They'll both be 5 by the time the cruise comes around.

I'm pretty confident I'll find someone for my 8 year old to "meet" before the cruise. Although we're travelling with an 8 year old girl neighbor, I'm sure my son would much rather have another boy to hang around with. :)

I hope you heard good news about your docs!

Okay, I'm going straight to the experts. That would be you!!

And I know this is a question that usually females ask, but here goes: What kinds of clothes are your DHs bringing for dinners? DH is starting to plan his wardrobe (we usually have to get him a new suit anytime someone in the family gets married or dies because he's outgrown the last one!!LOL). I'm "concerned" about dinner wear. No tux for formal night. Any help anyone sailing with us can offer will be greatly appreciated and payable with Mardi Gras beads!!

Thanks. I'm really getting anxious!!

DW and I have agreed that neither one of us feels like getting dressed up on this trip. We plan on eating at Topsiders, or on our verandah, on the "dressy" nights. I may bring a sport coat to wear with Dockers and a polo shirt (in case we do the Palo brunch), but that will be the extent of my "fancy" wardrobe.

I know that's probably not the "norm", but we just want to relax and take it easy this time.

Hi Guys! Been away from the boards lately, had to catch up on a few pages. Wow! Docs are showing up! That's great! It means it's really coming soon. I'm used to DVC sending about a week before, so it'll be interesting when I get mine this time, as I booked with cash. As long as I get them before we leave...

As far as the dress goes on the ship, in November we really saw it run the gamut. It tends to be really dressy closer to the holidays. The spring cruises are bit more relaxed. Tuxes, suits, ultra casual, we saw it all last time, but thankfully no shorts in the evening dining rooms. A good bet is a black cocktail dress, or a long black skirt & a couple of tops for the 2 dressy nights. I'm bringing one black sleeveless dress & 2 jackets for it- simple. A nice dark suit for men works on formal night. You can rent a tux on ship if that's what your DH wants & it'll be in the stateroom when you arrive. The info will be in the docs. DH did this in Nov. as it was our anniversary & we wanted pics, but on other cruises he brought a sportjacket & a dark suit.

Outahere~ The casual dining in Topsiders is good. We went there on Key West night in Nov.& we were very impressed with this option. They served the same menu as the dining room. It's table service- appetizers & dessert is buffet, nothing else. We even saw people dressed up in there too, which surprised us, as we thought that defeated the purpose... Semi formal night you could really get away with a nice shirt/golf polo & not feel out of place if you didn't want to dress up & go to the dining rooms. You would not feel funny. We saw guys very dressed down that night(T shirts), but not on Formal night.

Hope this helps!

It's snowing here right now again, so this cruise can't come soon enough! I was getting used to the nice weather last week...

Janie and Tom,

DH and the DH of the other couple are not dresser uppers. On the first cruise we took he had a suit and a sport coat in fact I think he had two sportcoats. This time Phil (my DH) says he is going with one dark sport coat. That with dark pants will handle all the dress up evenings and the brunch. We saw all sorts of styles on the first cruise. I think that a nice sport coat would handle all the requests Disney could make. I don't think he is even considering a tie, although he did have one on the night we ate at Palos, so he may take one.
Brenda I am looking forward to meeting you too. Let me know if you have any particular way you want me to hand you the Chocolate Juniors.

Janie,

Pete is renting a tux so we don't have to lug so much as we have the week before at WDW.

I got my docs! I was so excited because I was having a really bad day yesterday and I went to my front door just before going to bed and I saw this bag hanging from my storm door handle. Sure enough, it was the docs! I spent the next 1/2 hour in bed looking them all over. I went to bed a happy girl!

DH has a tux and I have a gown that I've used on the last few cruises. I like being dressed up but hate getting dressed up. We do Palo on that night so I don't have to do it twice. We'll eat in cabin on the second formal night--just to take a break from everything. I usually do crop pants to dinners on the other nights.

Someone mentioned to call DCL and ask for the concierge team to pre-book stuff---THANK YOU! It worked. I was able to do my Palo and my brunch. Also requested the PLAP rotation. One note of advice they gave was to leave a lot of extra time to get to port. It is spring break and she said the highway gets jammed with beach goers. We will probably leave early and then head down to do liquor runs and grocery by the Radisson. I would rather spend my time waiting at the port than on the highway.

Gotta go get kids to the bus.

Lynn, isn't it amazing that a little "bit" of Disney always chases the "bad" away!! and thanks for the clothing update! Tom is going to bring a new sports coat and a couple of pair of slacks to go with it, shirts, probably a tie, etc, etc, etc. I wanted to do the formal night on our first cruise.

Hope you have good days the rest of the week!

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I'm getting more and more excited as the days pass. Good thing I've got lots of things to do at work to make the days go by, like moving our office in 1 1/2 weeks!!

Tom and I have started putting stuff to take in a canvas bag. It's a gathering place for stuff I don't want to forget or hunt for later when I'm really in the packing mode.

I'm looking forward to meeting all the DISer's also.

Take care and I hope everyone has a great day! No more snow for you in the Northeast!!

Our docs have arrived! At least the TA has them. So bright and early tomorrow we are off to pick them up. Yeah!!

DH did tell me today what he is officially taking in the way of clothes. He is taking a suit and a couple of pairs of pants that will go with the jacket. And he is taking a tie. That's for formal night and semi formal and the dinner at Palos.
I notice that none of the women on the thread seem to need any help with what to bring in the clothing line. We are just more together about that sort of thing than the men are.

Estelle--weren't those flakes big---the snow ones that is. LOL! We are heading into the city on Friday to catch The Producers and of course it is suppose to snow then too--although I haven't seen the news today so that could have changed.

I have an abundance of clothes down in the basement in multiple sizes. It will all depend on what size I am in a month to see what I am taking. I did just try and find my swimsuits. Found the 14's and the 10's but of course can't find the 12's. Yes, I have gone up and down that much but not like a yo-yo. I was a 10 until I had my 2 1/2 year old. Before that I was a 1X. I am getting back down there though.

Anyone care to join me for early morning workouts onboard? I usually try and hit the gym first thing before the waitlist gets started and between shots of coffee. I will be the one on the cross trainer.

Okay, big problem for us -

The person who could have gotten our brunch reservations for all of us is going to be away, so we will need to either have someone with concierge level service to make them for us OR do the ressie rush ourselves and hope we can all get together.

IF anyone has this level service and is interested in helping us out, please let us know!!!

Estelle, we are also on the glass bottom boat tour at CC at 9:45.

Welcome back Rae we missed you. And yes I was beginning to wonder if everything was okay. Got our docs this morning and talked to our TA about the possible trip next year. She would do the canal cruise in a heart beat if it is done to coinside with the Disneyland start of celebration. This was the first time DH heard that there was a desire on the part of his DW to take a longer cruise. He was a bit startled. But I hope to convince him. We also have to take the 10 year old grandson to WDW in February.

Hello everyone!

We have not received our documents but are anxiously awaiting after reading some of you have received.

We have had a lot of conversations about attire, packing and what to wear. We will be in Orlando Wednesday night and the packing and unpacking before the cruise will be challenging but the formal attire had us in a pickle. We finally decided it was stressing us out and we would choose other options that evening. Immediately we felt better about the whole thing! Less packing!

I read a thread about the coffee and went into panic mode. I'm considering bringing a small coffee pot now.

Victoria continues to chatter about her 'best friends' Rachel and Mary who will be on the ship. She is looking forward to Goofy's pajama party. She has her bubbles for the sail away party all packed.

Have a great week!

BRUNCH ANNOUNCEMENT

Since there is a great possibility that we will not be able to get our brunch together - the suggestion of having lunch at one of the restaurants together was made.

Of course, it has to be a Sunday, Monday or Thursday (at sea days).

We can also do the brunch on our own right. Lunch at one of the restaurants would be fine with us. I know DH and our friends aren't going to be stressing about the whole thing so we're good with the majority too.
Pirates is Sooo neat. Thought I would have a problem with Johnny Depp. But he was terrific. I am afraid I still like Captain Hook but in a pinch Depp'll do.

Our weather has been lovely, if you are indoors. Outside it is cold and windy, the sun is shinning which is a good thing. I keep wishing for a little warmer weather. At least it isn't snowing.

Just wish I could get us all together for Palo brunch, but hey, if we can plan a sea day for the lunch - why not think SUNDAY - Noon - Lumieres?

They will seat us together as a group - as long as we ask nicely and let them know we want this.

I will need to look at an old navigator to make sure no activities are planned for this time (DVC group meetings - the one where they give out the free stuff!!!!! OR any of the other DCL activities that come during the sea day.

By the way, I just picked up a Spanish mustang mare (13 years old) - she's not broken to ride and was headed for the "kill pen". She's small and a bit shy, but I enjoy a challenge and have named her "Dulcinea" - shades of Don Quixote, I may be fighting windmills for a while, but I think she will be a good little horse with enough time and love (both I have in abundance).

Rae

Excellent.....Sunday at Lumiere's could be our "Plan B" if we absolutely can't get our Plan A Palo Brunch, based on no conflicting activities. At least we have an alternative plan. We can even bring the kids if they want to come and they could all meet each other as well.

Rae, Congrats on the new horse.....sounds like a challenge but you are so up for that.

Can you believe I actually have DH "interested" in looking into the possibility of rebooking a cruise while on the ship for next year! We've even discussed the "50th birthday cruise" possibility with Andy and Rae. I've got to look into all the possibilities but at least I've got an "interested DH". I'm psyched once again!

Excellent, sounds like Plan B, (Lumieres) is a good plan. Sunday should be okay. I admit that I wondered about the number of us for the brunch. When we cruised with Jan (old lurker) there were either 16 or 18 of us. They put us in the side room where I guess they put private parties. There wasn't room to move much. In fact it was extremely hot, all windows much Sun. They did finally open a side door so we had a small amount of ventilation. We were on the door side, backs to the windows. In order to get to the buffet, if I remember correctly, I had to wait until most of the others at the table were already there. The food did make up for it however.

Dulcinea sounds like a challenge and once she is ridable (sp) should be a really nice horse. My DH approves of the name. He loves the Man of La Mancha. Those are nice windmills. Good luck with her.
I finally mentioned the idea of a cruise next year to my DH. Carefully did it at the TAs' office. Wanted a back up in case of explosion. He didn't say much, just "we'll see." But that at least wasn't a flat NO.

Off to the marketing, before the place becomes a zoo. Talk to you all later. Estelle

Sounds good to me, will give us newbies an opportunity to get acquainted with the ship and settled in a bit.

Is there a time - earlier/later????

This is getting so exciting! Yesterday morning woke up earlier than I wanted :( so i watched the Travel Channel DCL show again.

Til Later,

Good morning everyone!!!!!!

It's a fine morning here in Indiana, only because I know we will be leaving here in less than a month for our vacation. HURRAH!
Sad part is having to leave the horses!!!!

Dulcinea is starting to warm up to me...I was able to get her out of her stall and lead her in the indoor arena. I thought I would only have her for a few minutes, but by the time I realized it, she and I had been walking around together for almost 90 minutes!! Definitely like the little mare and hope that we can progress as the days, weeks go on.

Let Red run with the herd yesterday. I said my goodbyes to him and watched him race and buck in the air - he needs his freedom and a rider who will ride him "like the wind"! He'd be an excellent endurance race horse.

The other two (Tytefit and Captain Jack Sparrow) seem to be doing fine. I didn't do much with them yesterday except give them some time and treats.

OKAY, enough about my horses - sorry, I just get carried away!!! Hence the quote in my signature from Shakespeare!!!

CRUISE NEWS

***Official*****

We will be meeting on Sunday Noon for lunch at Lumieres. I will tell them that we will be having a large group - would be nice to get a head count but I think if I say "20" that might be safe. Better to prepare them than scare them!!!!

(This means Palo Brunch for the group is off). I concur with Estelle about the small party room. Have had two group brunches there and have not been comfortable with the heat and tight spaces- plus they close the shades so you can't see out.

Please check page 15 of this post to verify the information you have provided since that's what we will be going by for our cruise list of "who's who".

Hugs,
Rae

Okay 12 noon lunch on Sunday at Lumieres' sounds really great to me. Definately better tell them 20 or so. No need to scare them. we wouldn't want to have to serve ourselves. I don't pour water well under those conditions.
Have to take several of the items I plan to wear to a friends' tomorrow. She does all my seamstress things for me. Thank goodness I don't have to do them myself. I do needlepoint and cross stitch but straight sewing isn't my thing. I will be bringing my needlework with me, never travel without it, and am wondering if they'll have a problem with my scissors. Like I'm going to take over the ship with them. "Hi my name is Estelle and I am taking over the ship with my sewing scissors." Hi I'm the captain and no you're not." I reread our docs over the weekend and we still can't sue Disney unless the captain attacks us physically. Now that is really likely to happen. I really have to go and work on the ironing. The weather is beautiful today some where around 50. But the weather for tomorrow is supposed to be terrible. SNOW! What on Earth is that. DH says that it is coming because he spent yesterday prunning the trees in our front yard. Every time that he does that it snows. Like washing your car in the summer, then it rains.
Talk to you later. Estelle

Ok--I posted, atleast I thought I did, but it didn't show up. So, here I go again.

I will probably not attend the lunch, but may pop in to say hi. Knowing me, I'd say I'll go and then forget until 2 days later. LOL!

Estelle--I don't know if you are flying down or driving down, but the airlines won't let you take the scissors or knitting needles on the plane. My 2 cents would be to buy some down there and then either toss em or ship em back to yourself---whichever would cost you less. Also---you ready for some more snow. you may be spared. We are suppose to get 4" I think. I am considered "coastline" and that is suppose to help us. Some up north are going to get blasted----they are already dismissing early.

29 days and counting for us before we leave---a few more before the cruise. The only thing I hate about it all is I have to go swimsuit shopping. Tried yesterday and man was I depressed.

Estelle--another quick question---I think your in New York--right? We went to the Producers on Friday night. Liked it but not on the same level as Les Mis for me. Anyway, trying to get out of the city was crazy. Seemed like they blocked so many streets off just to create havoc. Nothing like 5 lanes of New York traffic trying to take a left into 2. We heard some bricks fell from a building, but they seemed to block off more than just a few blocks.

I will take care of the lunch at Lumieres part! Are you sure you don't want to take care of the water, Estelle?????

Yesterday it was lovely outside - took Michael riding. Today, SNOW!!! So you know he is standing right here saying, "School time Mom!", glad he's excited about it!

Lunch on Sunday - sounds good to us!! Count Tom and I in if anyone is doing a head count.

Estelle: The airlines will let you take scissors, they just have to be in your checked luggage. My sister recently flew and they let her have her knitting needles on the plane with her. She has some sort of documentation that said she could. I used to cross stitch and have done some needlepoint. Now my eyes aren't comfortable with it.

Later guys - be thinking of us, we're moving our office this week. It is amazing how much stuff one can collect over the span of about four years!!

I don't have to worry about the airlines, at least not in many years. We routinely drive to WDW and the cruise as well. DHs' parents lived in Sarasota for some years and we drove down to see them. Takes two days of not too bad driving. We usually go west from here and take 81 south. If the weather (we usually went in February) was bad we would take 95. Luckily in I think 10 years we only had to actually take 95 twice. So we are leaving on the 15th of April and arriving at the Rad on the afternoon of the 16th. The best thing about the drive is the anticipation. As we get further south we begin to look for things we have seen over the years.
Janie you have my condolences. I remember when my husband had to move his office. In his case he had to pack everything up like 2 weeks before the actual move because he was in Europe on business when the move actually happened. He complained about that and then complained again when he got home and the first thing he had to do was unpack all the boxes.

Actually Deb we're in Pa. we routinely take the bus to NYC. Much easier and we don't have to deal with all the traffic. This last time wasn't bad at all. But the time before that there was a horrible traffic jam coming into the city. Luckily we were leaving at that time. I mean they weren't moving about 3 miles beyond the Lincoln Tunnel and I'm sure the people in the tunnel weren't going anywhere because the traffic in the actual city wasn't moving either. We were very glad that we were going the other way.

Okay we are having snow. So far we have about 1/2 inch or slightly better. Supposed to be going to continue all day. Schools have had early dismissal and various other things have been cancelled. I think we are supposed to get 4 to 7 inches. South of us they are getting snow and then sleet, freezing rain and rain. Frankly I'll take the snow.

Talk to you all later. Estelle

amtmommy-- welcome to our wonderful thread. Always room for more. First the usual questions... Do you like shrimp? If so watch out for Rae and I we are avid shrimp people and will be lurking by the shrimp.
Also would you and your DH and DD like to join us for lunch at Lumieres' on Sunday at noon? We had originally planned to do the Palo's brunch but there are too many of us. Just let Rae know if you want to come. The nice thing is that the kids can join us if they want to.
This is only our second cruise and we have friends who are coming with us who are doing their first too. They have a DS who is 5.
It snowed here all day from about 8:30 this morning until about 5. Got probably 5 or so inches and then we got sleet and freezing rain. And all sorts of accidents. We had lated parents at both centers and strangely it wasn't the parents who are usually late. These were parents who usually get their kids early. Oh well stopped now. DH and DD (Elza) are outside with the snow blower cleaning the driveway and the two cars that didn't go out today. I promised myself 15 minutes on the treadmill tonight so I better go and get it done. Talk to you all later, Estelle

I just spoke w/our TA & she told me that there has been a mistake & we do not have connecting rooms after all. My mom is sharing a room w/my DD & my DH, DS and myself in the other room. On all invoices we had connecting rooms, now DM & DD are going to be across the ship & half way down the hall. If anyone has room 2112 & would be willing to exchange for room 2570, please let me know!! We are very disappointed! We sure could use some pixie dust now.

Hi Everyone! I haven't spent too much time on the boards lately, as March has been super busy. Looks like a lot has gone on here. Lunch on Sun. instead of brunch. Thats fine with me, although I'm bummed about Palo brunch, as it's my favorite & I'm traveling without DH. I think I'd feel funny going alone. If anyone would like to brunch with me on Monday, or Thursday, please let me know!

It's still snowing like crazy here, about 6 inches so far. In a month though we will be in sunny Fla. sleepless with excitement about the cruise the next day & it will be my DD's birthday. These thoughts of warmth & fun in the sun are helping me deal with this snow. I hear my plowguy now! Unlike Annmorin's, ours is great!

We are gearing up for a super big dance competition this weekend in New Haven, CT- 3 days- American Dance Awards. Taylor is doing a very difficult tap duet with her partner & they are hoping for a gold award/medal in their section. She is in 4 other numbers, but the duet is the big one- they have been working on it since August. We are staying in the heart of the Yale Campus, so we'll visit the gallery & the bookstore after the competition is done, so that should be fun. Wish her luck!! ( and me too- I'll be a nervous wreck- at least it's not horse jumping any more...)

Deb~ Was Matthew Broderick & Nathan Lane in your show, or did you have stand ins? Wow, everyone I know who has seen the show with them in it has raved like crazy about it. I tried to get tickets, but they sold out so quickly! We are going to see Lion King in two weeks. Can hardly wait! One of the hotels in the Time Sq. district had chunks of the buiilding fall down on Friday. The news reported a few people got killed from falling debris-construction workers that were working on the building. They will close many streets surrounding a problem like that, as it's so unpredictable.

M & C King- I am looking at a map of the ship. Rm. 2112 is Port side, toward the aft. 2570 is Starboard, midship. That's a big mistake... I would call your TA & rattle the cages, especially if you requested and were under the impression you had adjoining rooms. Did they give you room #s on your ressies? If so, I'd shake the apples from the trees on this one... Good luck!

Rae ~ if I recall, you can start riding tomorrow right!? I hope you have great weather for a ride- it's been a while for you...

Not to much longer now- we're at the 30 day mark... Looking forward to meeting all of you! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Just think, next month- everyone will be green with envy that we're on the ship!

Linda,

I want to wish your daughter a lot of luck in her competition. I hope you enjoy your weekend in New Haven. Don't forget to head over to Wooster Street for some pizza!

Hi amtmommy, haven't heard a lot from you, welcome back to the thread!

I seem to be one of the few who is enjoying the last snow of the season. My daughter has a 90 minute delay and today is half day - why bother going in? We'll probably get in our last sled runs with this snow!

Have a good day!

On every invoice from TA, starting 20 months ago, we had rooms 2110 & 2112. Then she calls yesterday & said, "Sorry, there's a mistake & you don't have connecting rooms. I'm talking w/Disney & this is the best we can do." Needless to say, we ARE NOT happy about this! I finally turned the phone over to my husband & he had a turn w/her. She is saying she will check back every day & see if something comes up. But the good news is that we didn't get the snow that a lot of you are getting.

Well, as far as shrimp go I do like them, but I am more of a scallop in bacon gal. So have at it!!

I am trying to do a little planning ahead, thanks for the invite on Sunday.
I am from Massachusettes, very near the Rhode Island border.
As I said our group is small, just myself, DD (6) and DH.
This sounds like it going to be alot of fun!!!

amtmommy----I also have a 6 year old---Jennifer. Hope they get to meet in the club. She loved the camp and is looking forward to spending every moment there---her words not mine. She wasn't old enough for the lab last time--but her older sister loved that part so I think she will too.

Linda--Yes they were. Nathan Lane actually made a flub. He was suppose to toss the cane in the air and catch it in the end number and ended up throwing it to the end of the stage. The look on his face and Matthew's was so funny---sort of like what the heck. I liked it but I didn't love it. I think it is personal with me. My son has what they call Sensory Integration Dysfunction (2.5 years old). My dh and I both kinda saw our son in Matthew's character when he is older. His character was slightly immature and walked a lot on his toes--the other stuff I won't say to not ruin the story. It just sort of struck a nerve but nothing that we didn't get over and enjoy the show and laughed a lot. One of those things that only someone dealing with SID would be bugged about. Also, never really reading the story, I wasn't thrilled with the choice of the Nazi story within the story. I get the concept of it being the worse play possible, just a little uncomfortable. Like I said--nothing I couldn't get over. Our friend's bought the tickets and went with us. They had to go to a broker and paid a lot of money. It was a thank you gift for assisting him in getting interviewed for a job he eventually got. Anyway, we liked it but wouldn't stand in line for hours to see it. I think I am more the Les Mis/Phantom kind of play or a good Agatha Christi (SP?).

Estelle--didn't realize you were in PA. I have family over in Bridgeville by Pittsburgh. I was actually born right around there. I am probably one of only a handful of people who can pick out a Pennsylvania accent. LOL!!Just say "Out of the house" and I got you. I heard about the bricks coming down. When we were walking to the play, I was thinking about that and trying to avoid all metal coverings on the ground.

Schools had a 90 min. delay today- we got about 7 inches when it stopped. Now they're saying more for Thursday night! Winter's last hoorah... It can leave quietly as far as I'm concerned!

RobinMarie- Which is the better "apizza" Sally's or Nick's on Wooster? Those are the 2 that have lines out the door, right? See I can't get away from those carbs, LOL! Which is the one that has the world's best tiramisu? I forget.... I want to go there! I lost 8 lbs., but I get the feeling I'm gonna gain back a few after this weekend.... Thanks for the good thoughts! They are focused to win & are putting their heart & soul into it. If they do, they will advance to Nationals, which I think is in Orlando this year! I'd be happy to go down there again this year!

Deb~ Now I understand why you weren't fond of the show... Wow, ticket brokers are getting $500 a seat for that show- that's a nice thank you!... I saw Nathan Lane on Letterman not too long & he was saying he does stuff like that on purpose just to see if Matthew Broderick will lose it cracking up... Sounds like they have a great time doing the show! See Harvey Fierstein in Hairspray before leaves- he's the best... Phantom is one of our favs too. It's Taylor's fav flute music. She plays it constantly. I'm getting sick of Music of the Night.... 42nd St. is our all time fav- tap dance a go go...

M& C King~ Try calling DCL direct & explain the situation. Tell them you feel your TA is not doing enough to rectify the situation... It shouldn't have happened to begin with if you had room #s.. I feel so bad for you! You will have a great time, no matter where you are on the ship though, don't let it get you down!

Back to fitting costumes- my favorite thing to do... NOT!

Pepe's and Sally's are the big pizza spots but I am not sure who has the world's best tiramisu. I prefer Pepe's pizza though you can't go wrong on Wooster Street. Stop by Libby's if you go to Wooster Street for an Italian Ice or Italian Pastry!

I told my daughter how many 6 year old little girls are going and she is VERY excited. She is hoping everyone brings a princess dress!

Okay Rae I'll do the water if I get 10 extra shrimp...

Pixie Dust to Taylor for her, going to be fantastic, performance.

M& C King-- I would (actually my DH would) complain LOUDLY! That isn't the way Disney should be handling this.

We got 7 inches too and there had better not be any on Thursday night. I have had enough snow for this winter and next.

Linda-- laughed when I read that Taylor plays the music from Phantom on her flute. Our Jen took piano for almost 15 years and played Music of the Night at her graduation recital. I loved the song the first 10 or so times but then it began to get really old. At least Taylor plays the flute. Jen played the violin which wasn't too bad. But those bagpipes...

Dog and treadmill are calling so talk to you all later. Estelle

Linda if you are still looking for someone to do the brunch with, my DH and our friends and myself would love to have you join us. We haven't really decided which day we are going to get the ressie for.
As I said we got 7 inches now they say we might get another inch or two either Thursday night or Friday night. Or both. And then they casually mention that it will be 50 or better on Saturday. Here we go again, mud city and high water. Maybe we could convince Disney to bring the Magic up here. She could sail in on the Delaware. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Talk to you all later. Estelle

Estelle~ LOL! So it's not just me! After 10 times or so, it gets on my nerves. Taylor plays beautifully, but like you said it gets old... Bagpipes- wow! That takes alot of wind- eerily beautiful .... Tay started to play the steel drums too this past fall. Her School has an awesome program. She plays the double seconds. Last Nov. one of the steel drum guys on the ship let her play a little on his and gave her some good tips- it was cute. He was blown away that a girl, let alone a white one had an interest in playing them... ( his words )He was just was so surprised & pleased about it. I guess it is unusual. She hopes he's still there in April, so she can show him how much better she's gotten on them! Thank god she doesn't practice at home...

Thanks for the brunch invite- that's very sweet of you! I'll check in with you at Port. I'll look for your Hawaii Mickey Shirt!

Boy sounds like the 6yr. old girls are going to have a blast! Definitely do Tea with Wendy- get ressies early. It's a real pinkies up event! Bring those Princess dresses! So cute!

They are saying another 5 inches of snow for us tomorrow night! The azure blue Carib waters can't come soon enough!!

Hi all!

Going to be on the safe side and give the dining room head server a 24 people count for Lumieres. PLEASE do not feel obligated to come if you change your mind. This is just a fun meet and eat for us, no pressure involved!

I would advise to have name tags on - just because some of us (ME in particular) have a very poor memory and don't want to insult anyone by forgetting a name!!

We are also meeting up on Deck 10 MidShip Starboard Side for the SailAway Party - again, a good idea to have a name tag on along with your wildest tropical shirt/dress!!

Got the okay for the 3-H's (horses, hot tub and hubby) from the Surgeon yesterday. Of course, it's snowy/rainy/windy and cold - go figure!

Linda-- The bagpipes was school too. One of our high schools in Bethlehem has a huge band patterned on Her Majestys' Grenadier Band. They have performed in Great Britain and Scotland. The year Jen was a Freshman they left Easter afternoon for 10 days in England and Scotland. Jen was a member of the pipe corps. We did not go along. When I voiced an interest in going as a tagalong my husband looked at me like I had lost my mind and said..."You want to go to England with 180 teenagers? Are you nuts?"
The pipes do make for interesting conversations. And the cats hated them. She didn't usually play the actual pipes at home. They get chanters to practice on. Of course the first weekend she actually had the pipes she had to try them out. So she took them into the garage to try and see what they would sound like. Should have seen our next door neighbor come shooting out of his house, trying to figure out what the awful noise was.
Rae-- You aren't the only one with short hair. Had mine cut yesterday. Very short. Family all going it'll take getting used to. I love it no stuff to have to take with me for my hair except a comb. Of course now that it is so short we're going to have more snow tonight. Not fair. Off to check out the mail. Talk to you later. Estelle

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARY!!!

And a spoonful of Pixie Dust for your Mom! I did that kind of party only we did Chuckie Cheese. It was for the youngest now about to be 24. But we still talk about the party where her older sisters male friends had to search the mens' room when we lost one of the little boys. Turned out that his father was in the place and the kid was with him. A little scary. Of course we laugh about it now.
People who have blooming flowers are just not fair...LOL Up here we have blooming snow. Got about 4 inches more on Thursday night. Of course it turned into nothing much really since it was bright and sunny all day on Friday. There are a couple of school districts with red faces. They closed for the day on Friday because we were going to be getting all this snow. Now those kids have to make up a day in June or at Easter.
Actually my crocus' are up about 3 inches. Can just see them above the snow.
Am taking the youngest to the market with me and then going to be ironing the last of the laundry. Then tomorrow I can start all over again. Also have to start a packing list and an official Taylor this is what we are doing schedule. Talk to you all later. Estelle

Unfortunately, I have some bad news. She's already had bypasses to both of her carotids in the past. She never had a heart attack, which is good news. So, this week should be very worrisome for this family. I can only pray that it will all come out alright. Her carotid surgery is Tuesday and her bypass surgery is Wednesday. :(

Count us in for this cruise, our first. Myself, my husband, DD13, DS9, from Medford will be going. We can't get the lights on the way out of the state we'll be leaving a few days before the sail date. Hope to meet some of you on board.

Hi sheilacat,

Welcome to the thread. There are lots of us and we look forward to meeting you either at the embarkation or sometime after that. First the most important question...do you like shrimp? This is the traditional question since Rae and I will be lurking around the shrimp. We're fast so you gotta watch out for us. LOL. There are several things planned and if you are interested check out the last 15 pages or so.

Off to the laundry for the day. Talk to you all later. Estelle

Welcome Sheilacat!

Luv2Dream, I'm sorry to hear about the family situation. I am sending positive energy to your family for great results and a speedy recovery.

I bought new luggage this weekend. I didn't NEED new luggage but it wasn't quite as depressing as the thought of buying new cruise clothing and what size THOSE might be. So, now we have a 5 piece RED set! It shouldn't be too hard to spot it on the luggage belt now.

Someone at work must have figured I've had it too easy because they are pouring it on this week. I sat through a long meeting daydreaming about sitting on the deck reading a book. I can't wait until it's time!

Take Care!

Just an update.....first surgery went well for the stint in the carotid artery. She's only a handful of people to have had this done in Worcester at UMass Medical. Tomorrow is the bypass which will last about 6 hours, starting about 9am. I'll keep you updated on that as well. Prayers are greatly appreciated.....thanks a bunch.

Hey guys---I can't believe it is almost here. But I also know how fast it all goes.

Well, DH caught some stupid virus----I guess he is getting it over with now instead of later. Man, if this is anything like the stuff people get on the cruise lines, I can't imagine trying to go with it. He has been suffering since Sunday night late. He tried to go into work on Monday but came home at around 2:30pm and has basically been in bed ever since. Now my 6 year old has it. I just hope it stops there.

Luv2Dream---prayers are heading your way. Good Luck!

Sheilacat---welcome!

Hi Everyone! In 4 weeks, we will be enroute to St. Thomas after a lovely day in St. Maarten... Sounds good doesn't it!

No docs here yet. Called TA -they purposely do not send until 2 weeks before so nobody loses them...

Skuba2 - hope everyone is recovering from the virus nicely. Better to get it over with now, than on the trip...

Luv2 Dream - prayers & pixie dust coming your way. Hope all goes well...

Hi Sheilacat! Welcome to our group! My DD will be 13 the day we embark. I will PM you with Taylor's email address, so maybe they can get acquainted beforehand. This is cruise #4 for us, so she can answer any questions your DD may have.

Tay had a great weekend in New Haven. She & her partner got a silver in their duet! We had fun exploring Yale on Sunday too. Couldn't get into Sally's or Pepe's - wait times too long. Maybe another trip... Now Soccer is going to gear up. First game in 2 Sundays... We are always busy around here!

We booked the beach rendezvous excursion for St. Maarten. Just some low key beach time-sounds good!

Prayers out to you, dear friend! And speedy recovery to Mom!

Weather was great yesterday here in central Indiana - so nice that we were out on the horses and well, it just so happened that this cute little blue roan mare that I've been eyeing came up for sale....well, now I'm a 4 Horse Family!!!

My God daughter came up from Florida and asked to name the horse - she wanted to call it "Dani" after herself, but then decided to use the nickname I gave her years ago "Squirt"! Sort of a strange name for such a beautiful little horse, but same goes for it being Danielle's nickname!!!

No documents and just waiting...IMpatiently!

Anyone have some GREAT Easter plans?!

Oh, oh........... could be a problem, Rae and Estelle.......... I am staying FAR away from the shrimp.......... I'd hate to get in the middle of a "shrimp fight" and get hurt before we even leave the port !! :D

Welcome sheilacat............ there are a couple of boys in our group in the 8 - 9 year old range. My DS is 9, turning 10 at the end of May. I guess we'll have to leave it up to someone else to turn out the lights in Massachusetts, since we're leaving the day before and you will already be gone.

Four weeks from today we'll all be in St. Thomas.

Greetings sailing buddies:

Have been super busy moving our office. We only went across the parking lot!! You would have thought it would have been easy but it all had to be moved. Gave us a chance to clean out stuff. Preschool folks are such pack rats!

Lynn: Hope MIL is doing great. Will send good vibes her way today.

Welcome to sheilacat! This is our first cruise also. I can hardly wait! It is going to be a wonderful break for us!!

I've crowned Rae as the Cruise Ship Shrimp Queen! So she gets first dibs on the shrimp!! Or NOT!!

Happy Belated Birthday wishes to Rachel!! Hope you had a great day.

Later, got to get caught up on the emails while our system was down. Hope all have a great day.
I'll stop giving weather reports from Louisiana where spring has arrived!!

That's okay Janie, Spring seems to have arrived here at least for today. Around 50 here and sunny with a slight breeze. That means that my Star Magnolia will think it is time to bloom and then we'll have a freeze. And my white magnolia will turn brown. Happens almost every year. Oh well.

Luv2Dream-- glad the first one went well hope the second is going just as well.

Congratulations to Taylor on her silver for her duet!!

Janie-- I chuckled when I read your comments about moving your office. When Phil retired almost two years ago he brought boxes of things with him. His comment was, " I might need them for something." This past weekend he started shredding all the papers. Had never even opened the boxes. Of course we are all pack rats in this house. I am trying to begin to clean out but I think the rest of the rats are working against me... LOL

Hi all,

a fellow 4/17 cruiser here. I am afraid I missed the shrimp fest reference. This is a very popular thread and everytime I try to read who's who I get bumped by DH who need to use the computer.

Is there anyway to get a update on who's who and if anyone is planning on meeting either at the port or on the ship, or if anyone is bringing kiddies along and ages etc. I did receive a Private Message but they got wiped out when I had problems logging on a while back.

It's myself DH and DD (6). She would love to meet some other little girls on board.

Thanks

Okay Rae-- I have a brilliant idea... Why don't you bring "Squirt" on the cruise? She could wear a really large Mumu and a floppy hat. Make up of course. And shoes like the ones Mickey and Minnie wear. If you need to see what I mean... check out the restaurant scene in the Emperors' New Groove. Squirt can only be better looking than the Lama/emperor...

Welcome MargaretMary-- we're glad you're coming too!

Welcome also to amtmommy--glad to have you aboard!

You will find the possible plans on page 15 of this thread. We hope you'll join us for anything that appeals to you.

Update on the MIL: second surgery had complications. Lasted hours longer than normal. Then when she came out into ICU, she had an irregular heartbeat and they took her back in for catherization and had to put a stint in one of the bypasses. Then everything calmed down. I haven't received any word today so I'm assuming all is still well. It was a very LONG day and night yesterday.

It's going to be 60 tomorrow.....hey Janie, thanks for sending us this weather!

Could just see her decked out with the hat and glasses! Love that visual! LOVE the MOVIE!

I have a new name for "Squirt" - it's Shadow Dancer. She's too dignified to be a "Squirt"!!!!

She's also being bred to the stallion, so I'm going to have two ladies enciente!! That will make me a 6 horse family in about a year!!!

Hi everyone!

We finally got our docs!!!

I made the mistake of booking air through Disney and after reading the thread on why it's important to fly in the night before I am in a panic! I have been reading these boards for 3 years now so you think I would know better!

Anyway, we are flying Delta out of Logan and the flight is overbooked... We fly to Atlanta and then to MCO... Hopefully we will be on the ship by 1:30.... I am not planning on doing the "ressie scramble" so this does not bother me... it's the fear of getting bumped!!

Anyone else flying out of Logan? We have the 6:00 AM flight out.
Is there anyway to get seat assignements ahead of time on an overbooked flight???? Anyway to garantee that we don't get bumped???

Please no lectures on how stupid it is to fly in the day of the cruise, lesson learned! I will never make this mistake again...:(

rae519
03-26-2004, 12:47 PM
Booking air by Disney will mean that they will wait for you.....the only advantage of that, certainly not the choice in flighttimes or cost!

This will be the first time that we are flying in the night before the cruise (other times we have either been on site, drove down or flew in the day of the flight). Looking forward to the experience and also the Happy Limo drive!

+++
I noticed that we do not have our first names on the master list - if you want to add yours please put it down on this thread and I will add it on. This is NOT mandatory, nor are any of the meets - if you want to meet fine, if not - life does go on!!!!

Hugs,
Rae

Jeannie~ If you are Skymiles members, you can check in to any delta flight online up to 24 hrs. before & I'm pretty sure they issue boarding passes at that time. I would do that. Register for skymiles if you don't have an account now. That should help!

Perhaps if you call Delta & explain the situation, maybe they will notate your reservations to stop you from being bumped. I would also arrive a little earlier than normal just to be sure.

Good Luck & Pixie Dust coming your way!

Rae-- you can put Phil and I on the list and the couple with us are Allan and Jen. Hopefully I spelled Allan right. My BILs' name is Alan and I keep getting the two of them mixed up.

Luv2Dream--Hope all is well with your MIL. We are all hoping for a good outcome.

Jeannie-- The best part is that they will wait for you. In fact I think that the Magic had to wait a month or so ago for a late flight. I seem to remember seeing that on the thread somewhere.

Linda-- being married to an engineer has some perks...not many mind you. I have my packing list on the computer from the last cruise. But not being the organized type I am completely redoing the whole thing. So the print out looks like total chaos. This is crossed out and this is added and on and on and on...

I will get organized, I shall write that 100 times while my family all laugh at me. Talk to you all later. Estelle

Good Morning cruisin' buds!

Spring seems to arriving slowly here in CT, but we'll take it! 60 degrees outside right now! A bit dreary, but I guess you can't have everything at once now... Thanks Janie! Sending your good spring weather wishes up here seems to be working!

We received primo seats to the Lion King from my sister as a Christmas Gift, so we are going down to the City tomorrow. Just love that show! It's Doug & Taylor's first time. Weather looks to be good too, so I'm happy! Nothing worse than NYC in the rain - you run the risk of getting your eye poked out from a million umbrellas, of varied heights...

We are excited about seeing the Golden Mickeys this time. Last Nov. We saw Darren Romeo, an illusionist with Siegfried & Roy. He was terrific! He had a 5 week run on the ship, while they had the entertainment crew cast & rehearsing.

We have become "Apprentice" addicts. We are so happy the show finale is the night before we leave, instead of while we are on the cruise! We have odds on Troy, Amy, or Bill to win - in that order. Anyone else watch the show?

We are also Idol fans- LaToya rocks! We were sorry to see Matt voted off, but he'll do well... They are all so good!

Luv~ hope MIL is doing well. Good wishes & pixie dust for her coming your way!

Jeannie~ any luck with Delta?

Estelle~ i gather stuff before hand, but I like to pack the day before. Get's my adreneline pumping... I have found from previous trips how much stuff we never use, so we are going to really try to cut it down this trip. As Doug won't be with us & he's the muscle man in our family, we are going to have to schlep our stuff... Taylor would bring 10 pr. of shoes if I let her ( Imelda Jr.) so she's limited to 2 pr. + sneakers.

Rae~ Is "Sprimpfest" a combo of Spring & Shrimp! How clever! Did you email DCL & warn them to have a shrimpboat traveling behind us for the duration of the cruise! :) Bubba Gump, here we come! Kudos to you on list management as well. A job well done!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Linda-- Since you are an Idol fan you might be interested in the fact that the runner up I think his name is Aiken? Anyway he will be performing here in Bethlehem this August during out 10 day event called Musicfest. We get about 1 million people here over the ten day period. A fair number of the local residents leave town during those 10 days. Three guesses why... Anyway the Musicfest people have indicated that the tickets for his concert may sell out within minutes of being available.

I started gathering stuff about 6 monthes ago. Now I am slowly cutting down on the stuff.
Have a really great time in the city tomorrow. I am sure you'll love the play.

Rae-- thanks for the updated info on the list and the plans. We are looking forward to meeting all of you.

I started gathering all my 'stuff' for the cruise in one place next to the red luggage. Wow, there is a whole lotta stuff that isn't clothing! I don't know what I am going to do.

We received our new cruise DVD in the mail and popped it in last night. (We are a wild and crazy bunch watching Disney planning DVDs on a Saturday night aren't we?) Anyway, watching the DVD made things even MORE exciting. It's an interactive DVD, anyone else have it?

The Disney cruise was on the travel channel Friday night. We are another exciting group. Big Friday night! I didn't get the DVD, but wish that I had it. Watching anything on the cruise does make it really exciting! The kids loved seeing what it's all about too.

RobinMarie-- I can't wait to see the red luggage. I started pulling together the first run of things for the cruise luggage and the stuff for the WDW part after the cruise. I even finished my packing list. Page and a half of MUST bring stuff. Have to get the engineer to go over it and tell me what I probably won't need. Of course I'll probably bring it anyway.

He has started collecting the important papers and stuff for in the van in two plastic boxes. So I guess he is getting excited too.

I took a second look at the new red luggage and it just doesn't look big enough! Sheesh now I am considering going back to the black.

Is anyone else bringing bubbles for their children to use? Victoria talks about Rachel and Mary, her new friends she hasn't met yet, to anyone who will listen.

We haven't heard any news from Lynn, Luv2dream, lately and I'm hoping to hear a good-news update soon!

Hi all! Will take care of the updates either later today or tomorrow -

Michael had a lousy flu this weekend - started with headache and nausea, ended up with vomiting.

I think I am getting it, lots of joint pain, headache and nausea is starting up.....

Just thankful that I am getting it now so I can build up my immune system and get over it by the cruise.......

If anyone is interested in getting some germs, let me know - I'll ship them to you!

"Generally speaking", Lumiere's is NOT crowded during the "at sea" days since everyone hangs at the pool.

I was thinking that if Noon was too early for some of our cruisers to eat (late breakfast or Palo brunchers), we could change it to 1PM but not sure what events will be taking place then. Majority rules.

Welcome to nipster! So glad to have you and your family join us!
I'll add you to our list GLADLY! Don't try to read all the postings for this cruise or you'll be late packing!!! There is a list a page back that will help identify some of us to you! I'll be taking MY list with me so I can remember names - I'm lousy with names!!!!

Hugs,
Rae

Welcome april1998 (Kim) and nipster (Denna) glad to have you join our "little" group. We DH and DFs and their DS are some of the few people who are not from Mass. I think that state is going to be dark for that week. The electric use is going to drop dramatically.

Ed is right-- watch out for Rae and I we will be attacking anyone coming near the shrimp.

Rae- sorry about Michaels' bug. Glad he is getting better and hope you get a milder case. Just enough for immunity. Thanks for the offer of the germs, but I'll pass on that one. We have enough germs around the day care I don't need anymore. But I'll send you some pixie dust and hope you feel better soon.

We are fine with noon for lunch but will go with the flow...

Our friends and the two of us are spending 1 night after the cruise at WDW then moving off property for 3 nights. Then returning to Pa.

Well off to my own laundry. Put our sheets in the washer and must be sure to get them in the dryer. I do have others but it is just as easy to wash them and dry them and put them back. Just
lazy... Talk to you later. Estelle

Kim........ I've lost count, but there are over 30 of us from MA, including your 12. You definitely have the largest group.

Rae.......... hope you and Michael feel better quickly. Thanks, but I'll pass on the germs. We've had to cancel two vacations in the past when DS got sick, so I really don't want to take any more chances than I have to.

Good Morning!

Wow, quite a few new members in our group over the weekend- welcome! We were on this cruise during school break week two years ago & it was a New England cruise as well. Massachussetts, Connecticut & Rhode Island were the predominate ones on the ship. The Capt. actually got on the PA & asked if there was anyone left in NE. Looks like it's gonna happen again. What does that say about the New England winter weather? Ed you are right, we all need to move to Florida...

We had a great day in the city! Weather was perfect and the Lion King was truly awesome!! It really got us in the Disney mood! For those of you that have not seen it, it really is worth the trip to NYC & the wait for tickets. It's like nothing you've ever seen!Paige Davis' (from Trading Spaces) husband, Patrick Paige was Scar & he is the best! Enough now, I could ramble on about this show forever... We had dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co in Times Square.- Run, Forrest, Run!! We told them to get the shrimp boat ready & hook it to the back of the Magic for our cruise... We are set Rae & Estelle!

I need to get packing. Got the docs, passports and snorkels so far... Need a little more than that... It will be nice to take the Spring & Summer stuff out. Gotta get going on this...
