This is month 3 for me and the pattern is so predictable. I guess I'm resigned to dealing with it but am wondering if anyone here has the same problem and how you have dealt with it.
Each month I do fine except the week before TOM and the week before ovulation(is this TMI?? Sorry!). Steadily losing the other two weeks of the month but coming to a standstill (both weight and inches) during the 'before' weeks. Is it unfair to retain water two weeks out of the month??? I think so! Someone is not taking their fair turn with the Bloat Fairy! :crazy2: They keep sending her to me twice instead.
At least now that I recognize this as a pattern I don't have to be depressed and want to quit two times each month.
Any ideas??:scratchin

Your post sounds soooo familiar!!
This what I did: 1. I keep a chart that I mark off my weight adding info every day so I can see the pattern and prepared for it when it's time for it to happen. 2. I cut my salt intake to a minimum when it's time for the Bloat Fairy to visit. 3. I now take a suppiment that I found on the Atkins site called Aspara-Plus. It's made with things that act as a natual diretic like asparagus. It doesn't completely solve the problem, but that along with cutting back on salt intake really helps.
Then I always look forward to the big WHOOSH of weight loss when those dreaded weeks are over.
I hope this helps! Good luck!

Oh how I know that pattern! Except MY tom comes ever 21 days! So I have one week of beauty and 2 of WITCHY POO! I also have severe acne that flares up every 3 weeks, as well. (which is why you'll probably never see a picture of me!) What do I do? Yes, recognising is the best first step. I steer very clear of salty food, and anything more than a glass of wine is out. I try to squeeze in more exercise leading up, as the first 2 days of tom put me right out of commission! I also forgive my body! I know that after day 4-5, I'm going to be in peak condition, and judge any loss or gain around that time of month. I don't really even count a weekly gain or loss, because of my fluctuating hormones. Right now, I'm starting to notice a slight increas in the puff factor, and am suspiciously watching for salt and alcohol cravings. Good for you, recognising these types of patterns!
Keep the Faith!

Now that I think of it, I think I am in the same pattern only I supposedly do not ovulate because I am on birth control pills (more for medical reasons than anything else, but that is another story). Thanks for identifying a pattern. I think I will start watching my salt intake those two weeks to see if it will help. Good luck all!

I have posting about my weight loss stand stills or plateus. Im starting to think I may have a patternmyself. I have never recorded when TOM comes or is coming (which is prob. why I have four kids...lol) But Im there...........Im at this stand still and working very hard at excercising. ITs frustrating but Im gald you brought this up I am gonna start charting my system. I am hoping that its not just me or that I am doing something wrong. Tom is due any day now (i think) ( I hope) (lol). so maybe that could be the reason I amn ot losing!!!!!!!!!UUUUUUURGGGGGGG that dam TOM.:teeth:

I retain a lot of fluid and I don't even have TOM anymore
I try to ignore the BF, I don't weigh myself every week anymore. I may never weigh myself again, just use my loss of inches as my indicator of success.

I have the same pattern too. A good week, a bad week, a good week, a bad week.....at least I'm predictable. :p I can eat the same things and exercise the same amount but the pattern still holds.
Thanks for pointing it out to me. Now I won't be so disappointed on my "stay the same" weeks!!
