Any one else book the Reas package?
I have been trying to get in touch with Debbie the Cruise Dining Manager with no luck. Any suggestions?

scubarn, I booked the REAS package back in February and called Debbie about a month and a half ago to make all my ressie's. I think I remember seeing that she was going on vacation soon. I would try to call again on Monday and see if she is in.
She is really nice, I didn't book the brunch when I called the first time, but I talked DH into it (for some reason he wasn't sure he wanted to do it). When I called her back two weeks ago to see if I could book it, she told me no problem. My only problem was I wanted to do the brunch on Thursday (the last day at sea), around 10:30, but the only time she had left was 12:00. I guess we will be skipping breakfast that day and save up for the brunch.
I hope you get the times you want.:)
See you in two months!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

The DW and I finally sat down and discussed what excursions that we should take. Also decided to go to the Holloween party Friday night. We are going to do the Tulum ruins and also get in touch with Captain Marvins for the Stingray. In Key West, we are just going to stumble around :)

Surfergirl - do you have the number to book excursions and does anyone know if we;ve booked through DVC do we need a different number ?
Crainbow, see you at the Halloween party on Friday 8th , we've made early reservations at Crystal Palace for dinner , can't wait.

It may be booked as far as REAS goes, but it won't be completely booked till the day of. Don't worry. They limit the REAS per day to keep everyone from overwhelming the system that way.

jfs9900 and traycie2201, sorry to scary you like that.;) They do limit the number of times for the REAS package. I'm sure you will be able to get a ressie for the brunch. I didn't ask about the other days, Thursday was the only time we had free.
Is anyone going to try the jetski excursion on CC? We are thinking of trying that instead of the Walking/Kayaking Nature Tour. Also, does anyone know if you can book the jetski's in advance or do we have to wait until we get on the ship still?

What about palo dinner... There will be 8 of us and we would deffinatly like to do that as a group! Maybe we should book one cabin with REAS and see if we can book palo for the rest of the group then....
I am going to call first thing to book the jetski excursion at CC. We may end up doing the jetski at KW.
Anyone have the phone number to call and book the excursions with Disney????
Still on the fence about trip insurance as well....:crazy2: :scared:

Just finished booking my CC excursions . Got the personal watercraft tour (jetskis) for 9:45 for DH& DD13 and the Kayak nature excursion at 9:15 for other DD10 and me.
No problem getting through or getting what I wanted.
It's finally starting to seem real. Now we just need documents!

We have been booking directly with tour operators and got everything we wanted, just had to adjust one time slightly. We've got horseback riding in GC, diving in key west and dune buggies in cozumel.

Surfergirl, I also booked the Kayak Nature excursion for 9:15 for me and DH (now I just have to figure out how to get DD's to the kids club on CC). We were going to do the jetski tour, but DH has been on jetskis alot (we used to own one and would go out every weekend), so we decide to do something we haven't done before.

My wife Linda and I will also be joining you on the 10/9 western cruise. This is our third Disney cruise: we have done a 3-night on the Wonder in 2000, and the eastern on the Magic in 2002.
It will be my birthday on the day we sail, and it's a big one. (Think Hawaii, McGarrett...). You can all help me celebrate at the sail away party.

Just completed booking the entire families shore excursions for the cruise. I can believe we are less than 2 months away - mind blowing. Back in March when we booked it seemed like the cruise was such a long way off. Now I all I can think of is that am I going to be ready! Still not done planning - it's hard to get my family to agree to anything! :smooth: ::yes:: ::yes::
Anyhoo - for anyone that is interested our excursions are as follows (some may overlap because we have decided to spilt up)....
KeyWest -
Sebago Watersports - Parasailing (this is still pending some responses to my other thread)
Walking tour - Hemingway, Southern Most Point etc.
Grand Cayman -
Rum Beach & Stingray City - DCL
Cozumel -
Dolphin Discovery 12pm
Kayaking Adventure 12pm
Paradise Beach/Mr. Sanchos
Castaway -
Jetski Eco Tour - 945am
Banana Boat - 1pm
Castaway Bottom Fishing - 1pm
Cabana Massage (if available)
phew, what a list!!!!!

08-12-2004, 11:30 AM
Hi Jfs9900, you're itinerary looks pretty similar to mine , we've got parasailing key west with sebago i think around 2pm
Key west we are going to go walking, according to Shirley from the boards this is easily done without a guided tour so will mooch around and may also visit ripleys museum.
Grand Cayman - stingrays with nativeway, 7 mile beach and some shopping
Cozumel Paradise Beach
CC fishing 9.15 banana boats 2.30
I'm getting really excited 7 weeks on saturday until we fly out. I feel so sorry for anyone caught in the storm / hurricanes cruising or otherwise it must be scary to be in the middle of it.
Safe travels to everyone.

Well we are all booked - Reas and excursions -whew!
REAS - no problem alot of times were still available.
Excursions -
Cayman - Stingray's Nativeway - Traycie2201 - looks like we will be on the same tour. Then shopping and sevenmile beach
Key west - Just walking around - might add something later
Cozmel - Fury Catamaran Sail, Snorkel & Beach Party
My DD has been corresponding with several kids and cannot wait to meet them all. Now all she has to do is pick her costume for MNSSHP - she is a big Halloween fan and this is a major decision. We have only changed about 20 times so far.
Also I did not realize that they seat people by group and since we booked thru ************* (late) we will probably be with that group so if anyone else booked allseas maybe we will be at the same table.

Key West - Conch Train with stops at Hemingways and Truman House. (our DD is on a president kick so she went to his Library this summer and now to his Key West home!)
Grand Caymans - Nativeway stingray and then coral reef snorkeling.
Cozumel - Mr. Sanchos
Counting the days until our 10 year wedding anniversary Celebration Cruise.

So far we have planned the Half day snorkel thru Capt. Marvins in Grand Cayman and the dolphin encounter in Cozumel, maybe hitting a beach after, any ideas on a beach would be greatly appreciated. Key west we are kinda open cause were not sure what to do? Anyone know of something not to be missed on Key West? Thanks you guys sure know your stuff. Oh I forgot I have two girls five and seven. We could do solo stuff on Key West if the kids will stay on ship, pretty sure they will. Thx for the help.

UKIan - Hi , 7 and 3 are great ages for some of the excursions , i'd get at least one booked, how about stingray swim through nativeway watersports, if 3 yr old doesn't want to go in mum and dad can take it in turns to stay on board while the other one swims with 7 yr old ?
Jen and Jeff, so glad you're okay.
Crainbow, that would be great , are you doing Palo on your anniversary night ? p.s don't you just love dvc points we own at OKW but have never stayed there.
ss wilson - Paradise beach on cozumel gets fantastic reports around $12 taxi from pier, free entry , watertoys all free, full restaurant with great prices, here's the link www.cozumel-beach.com , if you want to join on to the who's cruising with you list Tigfanjeff and Jenkatt did a great job in setting this up so drop Jen a line and she'll add you.

Tracy,
We have not decided when do Palo. We might go to the brunch on Sunday. As for DVC, I wish that we could have afforded it earlier. We own at BVC and stayed there summer 03. I know that it is "cheaper" to use $$ for the cruise and rent the points, but where else could I have gotten a week long cruise for $75?
Chuck

08-16-2004, 09:39 AM
As you might guess from my screen name we're been DVC members for a while too. We've used points for our previous cruises, but decided that cash was a better way to go for this trip.

Welcome Len, look forward to cruising with you.
Chuck , you're so right a bargain hey LOL I know it's meant to be better to rent and use the $$ but i'm still a bit unconfident about doing that and this will only be our 3rd trip with points, p.s knowing me i'd have spent the cash already and had no cruise to show for it, this way i get a week at the boardwalk and a week for 3 on the cruise for the markdown price of $75 ! well okay and the monthly loan payments and the annual fees etc etc etc even so my points have more than paid for themselves already and still 39 lovely years of travel still to go :Pinkbounc
anyone know when we get our docs ?
crainbow
08-17-2004, 09:31 AM
So right Tracy. The money that I would have spent on the cruise I can now use to buy beer and other adult refreshments on the cruise. As well as the excursions of course. :)
From my understanding the docs are sent out about a month before the departure. So in about 3 weeks we should be seeing them.

We are also DVC, but this is our first cruise and decided to go on Cash ressie's, so we will probably not be seated with other DVC'ers. We are taking my DH's brother's and their family's to BCV in March - 3 rooms used up all of 2004, and most of 2005 points.

Chuck it'll be great foryou to be on the guest end and not the working end of a ship, i bet you'll see alot of differences, is Mina looking forward to it too ?
We bought DVC in 2000 on impulse, we blew a massive amount of money on a once in a lifetime onsite stay in disney using compensation from an accident thinking , well hey we're only doing it once so we'll do it in style, THEN we strolled into a dvc information tent and next thing you know we're owners for practically the same price as the vacation we were on, ah well you live and learn, i love totting up how much the holiday would cost if i was booking through a TA , so far we've had 10 days in boardwalk 1 bed villa, 1 week in studio at wilderness lodge and 1 week boardwalk studio , 3 nights in disneyland paris which includes all your breakfasts and park tickets and now this one coming, i figure i've had my moneys worth even if i was never to go again :-)
p.s what excursions did you book ?

We were just in Scranton at Steamtown this past weekend! DS is a huge train fan. We are actually flying out of Phila on 10/9 at 7AM. We just couldn't swing an earlier flight -- schedules didn't permit. I'm a little nervous about that but I'm sure it will all work out okay.
We are definitely doing the conch train in Key West -- DS wouldn't have it any other way (even though it is not a real train). We've planned the Beach Break for Cozumel and Stingray City Observatory and Island tour for Grand Cayman. Castaway Cay is just going to be a play day.

Sorry for taking so long to reply to your question of the excursions. I have been on the road for the past three days in Atlanta. Landed about 2 hours ago and here I am on the boards first thing. Have to head out again Monday for a short two day trip to Chicago.
Mina and I only have the Tulum ruins on the schedule at this point. We have talked about trying to grab the Sting Ray on GC through Captain Marvins. I scheduled parasailing on CC for myself as Mina is afraid of flying in a plane let alone on that.

Can't remember if I've posted here before. We are also on this cruise and its myself, hubby, dd 6, and ds 5. We are SO excited and looking forward to it. Its our first Disney cruise tho hubby and I've been on a few others, bc (before children).
Excursion wise we are looking at just doing the conch train on our own in Key West, the stingrays/Island tour in Grand Cayman and a beach on Cozumel. We are considering booking the stingray trip with Nativeway Watersports (they are highly recommended on Cruisecritics boards) and was wondering if anyone here had any experience or thoughts on them? As far as the beach we are looking at Paradise Beach on Cozumel. It seems it should be about a $14 taxi ride there and rafts and equipment are all free (other than food and drink of course). Anyone been there? In my family we are all beach bums and the other trips don't really appeal due to our children's ages, etc. Just looking for some advice or opinions! And looking forward to cruising with all of you of course!

I just thought I would let you know of the experience I had while trying to book the Castaway Cay Fishing. (I wasn't on the ball like most of you and didn't call until a week after the 60 day mark.) The first time I called the guest services operator said that there was no availability for the fishing while at Castaway Cay.
At the prophetic prompting of Traycie....TY very much!....I called back about the 18th of August. This operator told me that the computer showed it full, but when they look at the computer for availability, the computer looks to book in groups of 4 people even if you are only trying to book have two. She put me on hold and told me that she could call to the people who actually schedule the excursions to override this computer feature. Making a long story short, my dh and son were able to be booked on the Castaway Cay fishing that we didn't think they could go on.
Hope someone can benefit from this! 48 days to go!!!

We will be flying into MCO and going to the Radisson on Friday afternoon, and will be by the pool probably about 5:00. Just look for lime green DIS Lanyards. Folks could also keep asking everyone if they are a DIS'r. If you think you might be there, let me know, and I will keep an eye out.
Regarding anniversaries, Ann and I celebrate our 11th on October 23.
Regarding Excursions:
Key West - unsure, but will do something on our own
Grand Cayman - Booked Stingray City with Captain Marvin's
Cozumel - booked Fury Catamaran, Snorkel, Beach Party through DCL
Castaway Cay - just enjoying the beach, may go for a bike ride.
Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hi everyone! :wave2:
Wow, time has flown by. Only a month and a half left! I just wanted to re introduce myself since I haven't posted in a while(but have been a very dedicated lurker). This is our second Disney cruise....last October we did the Eastern. This cruise we will also be traveling with my MIL, this is her 1st cruise. So our group consists of myself, Serena, DH Todd, DS Jacob 4, DD Alyssa 20 months, & MIL Patti. BTW our 5th aniversary is October 17th. I'm excited to meet you all. :) :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Time has flown by (but October can't get here soon enough). Time to reintroduce myself also. Guess it is safe now to "commit" to the cruise since final payment is in. It will be myself, DH, DS age 10, DD age 4 in 1 room; Grown DS, DIL & DGD age 10 months in another; and friends with DD age 4 and DS age 2 in a third room. Really looking forward to it. Hope the weather is nice (no hurricanes to prevent family & friends from flying in).

Hi Traycie, :)
The excursions I booked are mostly on our own.
Key West: Jet ski tour w/ Island water sports (DH & I)
Grand Cayman: Stingrays w/ Captain Marvins (DH & I ) possibly 7 mile beach after for family
Cozumel: Paradise Beach for myself and the kids, Discover Scuba w/ Eagle Ray Divers for DH, Dolphin Swim w/ Dolphin Discovery for MIL
CC: Banana Boat ride
LOL, I'm happy that all the excursion planning is finished.

Hi everyone,
It's been a long time since I've posted anything... but the cruise is getting really close. Our group is me, my DH, and my two DD's ages 7 and just turning 4. The girls are getting really excited (and so are we). Every morning when I wake my youngest up she asks "are we going on the Disney boat today?" The only excursion I have booked is the Stingray City Observatory and Island Tour in GC. We plan to go to Paradise Beach in Cozumel, and do the Trolley in Key West on our own. There aren't many excursions to choose from with a 4 year old... but that's okay with us, we plan on this being a relaxing week (unlike a trip to WDW). We're driving down on Friday and staying at the PCat WDW (at $49 a night I couldn't see staying one night anywhere else). We thought about doing the MNSSHP on Fri. night but decided to skip it this year. The picture at the bottom (hopefully it shows up properly) is my girls last year at the MNSSHP.
See you all in a month and a half!!

Hi Denise, check out www.cozumel-beach.com for details, basically it's around $12 a taxi to get there, free entry , free watersports including kayaking , water trampoline , iceberg etc, gets' great reports, nice on site restaurant saves a fortune on dcl beach excursion too. maybe we'll see you there.

I'm not 100 % positive but there was a post on the cruise critic board by Tom( guy from Paradise Beach) that said that starting Oct 1st there is going to be a $5 charge if you want to use the water toys(kayak, trampoline, rafts ect.) The chairs are still going to be free.

Will all of you going to Paradise Beach be buying lunch there or bringing it along from the ship? I'm just wondering what to do. At first I thought of bringing something ordered from room service in a cooler as many have talked about, having a picnic with the kids, and saving a little $. Then another person posted about how it is not permitted to bring in food from another source, that the beach makes its money from selling food and drinks to tourists, etc. Anyone have any thoughts? What do you all plan to do? Thanks, Heidi

Hi All!
WOW! This trip is going to be here before you know it. I can't wait. It's been a long time since I first posted. I'm part of a group of 13. Yup, Moms, Dads, Sisters, Brothers, Grandparents, Cousins......you get the picture We're all related through blood or marriage. Don't worry, I can assure you we are harmless. Plans for the cruise:
Key West - Just walking around.
Grand Cayman: Part of us are doing Capt. Marvins half-day snorkle trip (10AM). The Grandmoms are taking the Grandkids to the turtle farm. Shopping!
Cozumel: A few of us are doing the dune buggy tour (non-Disney). The rest will probably head to the beach.
Castaway Cay: Snorkle and enjoy the day

Good Morning!
Traycie, there are three legitimate children in this group. Two boys ages 4 and 5 and a girl, age 3. (They are my nephews and niece.) With this group however, any of the "adults" can slip into the child catagory at any time.
I'm doing the dune buggy tour on Cozumel. I think those doing the beach are doing it on their own. Not sure where they are going. Hopefully my sister, scubarn, will chime in here.
I got the excursion booklet when I got the final invoice about three weeks ago. (We booked thru All Seasons.) The Capt Marvin's and dune buggy were booked on our own. They were more towards what we wanted to do, better timing and cheaper then what Disney was charging.

Serena, I'm hoping the kids like the clubs also. Somebody needs to be watching the munchkins while mommy and daddy and dancin' and boozin' (inside joke!)
To say I am looking forward to this cruise is an understatement. I am so in need of a vacation. I was away on business in a rather isolated location the other week. Aside from watching the Olympics, I spent one evening playing the DCL DVD on my laptop and reading the Cruise Passporter. (Yes, I need to get a life.) I'm also looking forward to having scubarn (Karen) and our brother along with, spouses and kids in the same place for once.
Keep praying for good weather and the string of hurricanes stop.

While the rest of the family is on the dune buggy tour, We are planning on going to the beach, so far Paradise Beach looks like the best place to go. So the plans are to grab a taxi and head on over after we dock. Also want to do some shopping while in Cozumel (kahlua)

I'm another one who's hoping my children enjoy the club. My daughter (6) is more than a little shy so hoping that there is enough to catch her interest and she will stay and get used to it.
My son, 5, never knows a stranger so not worried about him. And I'll second the vote for the hurricanes to be over with by then!

Lets hope hurricane Frances doesn't harm Castaway Cay too much. On our last family cruise Oct. 1999, we were the first ship into CC after Floyd hit in Sept. and that was a month later. There wasn't alot of vegitation and they had to rebuild the dock.
our 2nd Disney cruise in 2001 was a mystery cruise with CC twicw in the same week. I would hate to miss CC but will hope for the best.

Just back from a long weekend in Amsterdam. Had a lovely time but quite a lot of rain, it was better weather in UK.
Only one more weekend away now before cruise so will have to start planning.

It seems Traycie that international docs usually take longer to get to you. Many times, they haven't even gotten to you before you leave for your cruise.. if that does happen, you'll just fill them out at the terminal

I was wondering if anyone had any info on the Cayman Beaches. I have heard a lot about the Seven Mile Beach, can you get a taxi there, or is it only for those hotels located on it? I have tried to get info by "googling" and not much info on the beach itself only on the resorts. Is there another beach that equals this one? I can't do any excursions (due to pregnancy, or so Disney says) and need to do something! Thanks in advance for any and all replies....
Alex
traycie2201
09-07-2004, 03:22 AM
Hi Alex, congrats on pregnancy, dcl may not let you book excursions but you probably could with other providers, try captain marvins, nativewaywatersports etc you could at least do a tour of beach, hell and turtle farm and maybe a bit of light snorkelling. the beach is a public beach although many hotels do front it , you can taxi there for around $4 pp from the pier, there are also some shops along it and plenty of restaurants and bars. Check out the Grand Cayman tourist board web site you may get some ideas of things to do, don't forget you could always hire a car and explore the island stopping at a few beaches and things along the way, think it was about $30 for a car for the day.

09-08-2004, 12:42 PM
I dont think we will know for a few more days how long it MIGHT take to get CC back in order.
However I am going to assume at this point that it won't be before the 10/9 sailing. If we go it will be great, and if we don't I have already prepared myself for the worse!

09-08-2004, 12:44 PM
I'm sure we are all thinking the same thing. To be honest, I've pretty much given up any hope of seeing CC on this trip, I figure that if I expect the worst I won't be any more dissapointed.
I guess the bottom line is that you know Disney will be doing everything in their power to get CC back on line as soon as possible, and if they don't manage it by the time we sail, then I suppose that's life. I'm sure we'll all still have an amazing time.
The other thought I had was what destination we may get instead of CC, I immediatley thought of Nassau, anyone else have any opinions on this?

Ian,
I think Nassau, or stop in the Bahamas is questionable based on how much damage Frances did. I wonder if the ports there have the same problems as Cape Canaveral appears to have?
At this stage, where we go is secondary. I just want to get my family in the same place. We had a long weekend worrying about my sister and family while they were in the middle of Frances. I am however keeping my fingers crossed the Castaway Cay was minimally impacted and all will be ok for the 10/9 sail.
Optimistic Kathy here!

One month from today we will be boarding the Disney Magic at Cape Canaveral (or Port Everglades). We will be stopping at Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Castaway Cay (or having a seven day cruise to no where, depending on what Ivan does and what Francis did).
As Crainbow has said, it is going to be a great cruise no matter what, as we will be with Family.

Key West will be there in October... here's a hint about Key West. Alot of it, the outder stuff, has survived horrible storms and is still there... alot of the newer stuff is made Key West style... meaning that not a heck of a lot of money went into it, so that when that hurricane comes, it's blown away, but who cares, it was cheap to build... and if you don't believe me, when we're in the Keys, take a walk over to Half Shell, very busy eatery, looks like a shack....

We have power, but a majority do not. The local grocery stores do not have meat or dairy products yet,( Lauren is missing her milk)
The Keys are asking all visitors to leave and will begin evacuating residents in the morning.
Hurricane Ivan is a strong Cat 5 with winds of 160 with gusts to 200mph.

JennKatt,
One of the sales staff I support is in Tampa. I listen to her and all she and her husband, who is an EMT in Tampa, have been going through this summer. My heart and prayers go out to all of you in the state.
On the other hand, here in the Dallas-Ft Worth area, we are having one of the best summers I have lived through. For the past couple of weeks it has been in low 60's in the morning and has barely gotten into the 80's in the afternoon. I don't think we have had two days over 100 this year.
Both Mina and myself are really looking forward to climbing on the airplane and starting the holiday. Between the Food and Wine going on in Epcot and the Holloween party in the MK, then off to the cruise. Both of us really need this holiday week. Both of us are really looking forward to this trip.
We are spending the couple of nights prior to the cruise at the Renaissance near the airport. The cost (free) could not be passed up. One of the benifits of too much business travel. We will be taking a limo to the port. I expect to arrive about 11a.
I am looking forward to meeting you all and sharing an Adult beverage with all.

Okay team rocket, here's an e mail to me this morning from DCL, looks very promising.
9/9/04
Thank you for your e-mail.
At this point, the weather we experienced due to Hurricane Charley and Hurricane Frances should not
impact your cruise vacation in October. We hope to return to Castaway Cay within the next few
weeks. We should know more about Castaway Cay within the next few days.
Kab - hmm yes just a boat !!!!!
Jenkatt - can't believe you have to go through this AGAIN, you'll really need a vacation next month just to get away from things.
Crainbow- what night are you doing MNSSHP we're going on the 8th. Crainbow, do you and Mina fancy sharing a limo back to MCO on 16th we'll go halvies or are you sorted ?
Have had to come to library to use net, mines down so don't know if postie has been with the lovely documents yet . fingers crossed.

Glad to see that the cruise docs have been sent! One step closer to V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N.
Funny you should mention, "pirate/tropicali/mexicali or what ever night" it is. Four of us in this merry group had a string of e-mails going over this very topic. I am happy to say we reached a decision. And that decision was.....you'll just have to wait and see!
The way this is going, I predict that Castaway Cay is the only original stop that we get to. That, is not a bad thing!

Just found this site and info today. We are on the 10/9 cruise. First time Disney cruiser. I was reading thru all you all typed and saw some info re reservations at PALO being made before you board the cruise. Never knew this was an option. Is it? Hot do you do it? Help - We really wanted one night of dinner w/o our kids and now I am worried it won't be possible.
Kiki07
09-12-2004, 08:43 PM
Welcome to the cruise. We did it by booking the REAS package. It was an additional $299. I think you will be okay if you are able to get into the line for Palo's. We did it because it will be our ten year anniv.
How old are your children?
block33

Kiki07
09-12-2004, 09:03 PM
We added it on through our TA. Then I called Debbie at DCL. She was great.
I'm not sure about the Dismeet. I don't remember all the details. I'll let someone else answer that question.
We are also bringing our DD 8. Hopefully there are others who have children in the same age bracket.

As I mentioned on a previous post, we all are just looking forward to a cruise, and we will be happy where ever we go. But...

I wouldn't mind Charleston. I used to live near there & one in my party has never been and talks of visiting that city. This reminds me of a Dave Barry Column (who lives in Miami) on cruising the "Restaurant of the Seas". On this cruise, they went to Key West, a 4 hour car ride that took 12 hours (from Miami) by ship. It was a really cute column in the Miami Herald (and others) a few months ago.

Hi allforpooh, if we get to go it won't be a hardship, here's what invaderzim said today about it , they were rerouted there a few weeks ago with DCL
" As for Costa Maya, they added that to our itinerary because we couldn't go to Key West (went to CC instead to beat the hurricane). There were major thumbs up from everybody we spoke with about Costa Maya. Is now our very favorite port. Many many people from the 8/28 cruise wish Disney would make it a new port and replace Cozumel with it.
It is a relatively new port and extremely beautiful. More rustic than Cozumel, it is very green and lush. The beaches were beautiful and the town was colorful with live entertainment and performers in traditional costume all day. We took the ruins tour and the buses were the most magnificant tour buses we have ever been on. Plush and clean. The roadway was brand new. They just got telephone service to most of the houses only a few months ago. The roadway had modern street lamps lining the whole way.
Our tour guide said the dock was only six years old and the tour roadways were only three years old. They were courteous, fun and very knowledgeable people. The stores were clean and the bathrooms spotless. They also have a huge salt water swimming pool right in the middle of the plaza.
We would go back there in a heartbeat. So glad we got to see it. If you go, you are in for a real treat.

Been on a business trip to Jacksonville, FL. We received our docs yesterday. Mina actually open them and was starting to fill them out. I guess she is excited.

The local news paints a grim picture of GC as does everything I've seen online. We'll know better after the next Western goes out.

That's pretty much how I feel Traycie. As long as we get on the Magic and she pulls out of port, I'll be a happy camper. Where we go, can be a daily surprise. :jester:

Hi, I want to share a e-mail I just received from Island Marketing LTD. We had a shore excursion booked with them for GC, but they now state that because of the destruction from the hurricane, it is cancelled. They also added that our cruise WILL NOW be going to Costa Maya and they offered to booked me on a shore excursion for there. Anyone know if this is accurate or not? I would love to book a shore excursion with them, because they are less strict with their age limitations (one DD is 4).
Hopefully Disney will let us know ahead of time so that we have the option to book an excursion through someone else. As much as I wanted to go to GC, I love the idea of Costa Maya. Besides, it gives me a reason to book another cruise:p .

Thanks for the infor Cindy. I pretty much had in my mind that GCwas not going to be possible after seeing may of the pictures from Ivan's visit. Deep down, I was hoping for two days at Castaway. I've also been looking at some of the trip reports of folks that have gotten to Costa Maya. It looks really pretty. Reminds me of Cozumel when I was there 18 years ago. I wish Disney would say definitively that CM will be replacing GC. I'm sure they know what the deal is for the next few upcoming sailings.

Hey Cindy-
What Costa Maya excursions did they offer you? I'm curious as to what might be available there, and information is a bit sketchy... thanks-

Carla, go to this site http://costamayacruiseexcursions.com/. There doesn't seem to be too may offered here, but from what I read on another thread Disney offered more than this. I am an obsessive planner, so not knowing what we are doing is driving me crazy. Hopefully we will learn more after the next Western gets back.

Cindy,
I too must confess to being an OCD planner! I'm trying to roll with the waves;) but DH just laughs at me trying to figure out how altered our trip is going to be.
Looking forward to meeting all in person!

Yes, its me, the unofficial cruise director, back on board. I'd like to make a couple notes for everyone. First, feel free to peruse the website at http://www.tiggerfan.net/DISaster
If your name is not listed or info needs to be updated and it isn't there now, please let me know at the following e-mail address -> monorailpilot@gmail.com
I'm getting way to much spam at my old e-mail address and its just difficult to find e-mails from so many people I don't know in there.
Second, if anyone plans on hosting any disboard meets after the sailaway party, please let me know so I can update the calendar. Thanks again for your patience with me, its been a busy few weeks down here weather and work wise.

Expecting docs to arrive today! (I've probably put a curse on myself now and they wont come!!!)
For anyone who has gotten their docs... has anyone noticed any upgrades? I am not expecting any for our group, but it would be nice.....

No upgrade here. Booked a CTY 6, so was not expecting anything. (Although the Walt or Roy Suites would certainly be welcomed!)I know that my sister and brother did not get upgraded. I'm fairly certain the others in our group did not also.

I just found this message posted today.

Costa Maya just confirmed for Western Cruises
I just left my travel agents office from picking up my docs, and while I was there I asked for her to call DCL to see if she could find out more info on our Oct 9th Western cruise and Grand Cayman port. She was able (and I listened in) to get confirmation from the CM and her Supervisor that the next 3 Western Cruises 9/25, 10/09 and 10/23 would NOT be going into GC and would be going to Costa Maya instead. I hope this info helps people in their planning.
Good luck,
Alex

We received our docs today. No upgrade, but really didn't expect one. Just so excited to get the docs and now the new, confirmed itinerary. Anyone been to Costa Maya? Sounds like fun, but we are sure going to miss Stingray city.
