Pages have been updated to include the countdown timer to the cruise.

Anyone have *ANY* other suggestions, please let me know now. Its easy to get things done while we are early in the game, it gets harder as time goes on to make changes to how pages work, how they look, etc.

LOL. I was thinking of doing a final night party to say goodbye to castaway cay on the secret deck on deck 7. Other then that, I'd rather attend instead of host events :)

traycie2201
05-11-2004, 07:50 AM
Don't you mean the not so secret deck 7 , our cabins right by it i believe. I think a hello party and a goodbye party is plenty to be starting off with. I'm sure we'll all bump into each other for the rest of the week anyway. we can order stuff from room service to take with us to deck 7 on the last night and slip some wine / duty free out with us. Yummy

Hey do you reckon if we tie the sheets together we could jump ship by sneaking over the side of deck 7 ?? then we'd never have to say goodbye to castaway cay

I'd try it, except those really big propellers down there serve as a really large food processor.

Actually, I think the deck itself is still a quiet place to gather, and I've never seen it that busy, but you are right. A lot of the secrets are not so secret anymore.

traycie2201
05-11-2004, 09:05 AM
Now i've watched action films and if i jam DH in on the third propellor rotation the rest of us can slip through and escape , poor Shaun however will end up as smoothie of the day, ah well that's the price for castaway cay heaven LOL

Please realize that JenKatt is my wife and I don't need her getting any ideas

Seriously, it would be fun, but I think they'd probably find us and kick us off before the next boatload of people arrived.

Then again, we could just form a tribe, walk around in loin cloths and be the subject of thousands of rumors on the DISboards for all eternity.

traycie2201
05-11-2004, 09:56 AM
Now Now Jeff us women have to stick together I'd happily don a loincloth if it meant staying at CC, and i've never even been there yet, but on the back of all the fab things i read on these boards you'll have to drag me back onboard kicking and screaming
Or should i just book another cruise while onboard ??? don't tell Shaun but i just might :)

Hi I and my future DW Princess_Victoria will be getting married on the cruise. It is a intimate wedding so we are allowed to have 4 couples join us. At the moment we only have one. I have been on a Disney cruise before and the DIS members I have meet could not have been nicer, therfore we would like to invite any of the DIS couples on the cruise to join us. I know that DIS members love all things Disney and as this is not something that you would normally get to see I thought it might apeal to some of you. If you would like to join us I need to know your Names, Stateroom number and reservation number to give to the Wedding Staff prior to the cruise. My e-mail adress is bob_hornby@yahoo.com. Hope to see you soon.

we almost slipped to page 3. My fault because I've been soo busy with the Panama Canal Cruise thread as well (I've got that one booked as well. WooHoo!)

Right now it looks like we have a reasonable collection of DIS boarders on this boat. It should be a LOT of fun meeting everyone, and remember, you can usually find me every weekend evening somewhere at WDW with a monorail :)

Now you know there's no stowaways on castaway cay unless you let the rest of this Disaster group stay with you, if jen and i can't stay nor can you but i reckon with a water filter and a speargun we'll last until that cruise picks us up next time round, anyway stop making me jealous boasting about two cruises that you're taking - will have to send hubby to do more overtime so i can book onboard. :p

Funny Funny. After the lifeboat drill, go back to your stateroom. Remove your life jacket and replace it in the closet. Then, while en route to Deck 10 starboard, overlooking the Goofy pool, obtain your favorite beverage (alcoholic if you are over 21) and prepare to have fun.

Yeesh, when did I become the cruise director ;)

Bobcat_Bob

Dear hygiene99 we would love to have you join us. As for the wedding gift no gift is needed as the best gift we could receive is the friendship we get from our fellow DISers. I have never found a better group of people and thank one and all for thier friendship

The wedding will be held on Thursday one of the days at sea. I will be held in one of the lounges. That's about all I know so far. The wedding staff isn't bubbling over with info yet. I suppose they figure it is to far in advance but then again their not the ones getting married. Also it must be a secret club because you never see anything on the boards about cruise weddings and I find it hard to belive we are the first or last. See you soon. If you don't see us at the Sailaway Party it is because we put away our life vest as instructed and on the way back we stopped for those drinks we were told to get and decided we liked them so must that we can't find deck 10 any more. Heck were not even sure where the ship is, but either the floor is moving or I've had way to many of these drinks, or then maybe one more will fix things.

Dear Hygiene99 & traycie2201
I thought I would give you a little background about Vickie and myself. We have both been married before. This will be the second marriage for each of us. For anyone who has been on this board for a few years, you may realize this is my second cruise also although it will be Vickie’s first. My first cruise was celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary with my first wife Donna. Sadly, she passed away one month before the cruise. Vickie's husband also passed away after approx. 25 years of marriage. To make a long story short, we both sold our houses and bought one together, much nicer but smaller. For the past few months, we have been trying to move the stuff from the other houses into this one- great fun. So the only real gift I need a the moment is a gallon of gas and a box of matches. As for what we like we both like all things Disney and Vickie collects tinker bell.
See you soon Bobcat_Bob & Princess_Victoria

I am in Yorkshire, Maybe its a delicacy from these parts but Pie and pea nights are very popular for fund raising events or Bonfire night etc. Don't knock it til you try it. You will be telling me next you don't eat Tripe, Mucky fat or Black pudding.

I agree they are very nice cold with HP sauce but prefer hot slightly crispy pastry with peas and Mint sauce(it is lunch time my mouth is watering).

Going shopping now to buy last few things for Ibiza on Friday.

Ah that explains it ;) you've got right funny taste int yorkshire

only kidding , definately a regional thing, more popular here with pickled onions / branston pickle etc.

Tripe and black pudding - how vile, however there is a great shop in clitheroe that sells fantastic , sausages, black pud etc that hubby likes.

what on earth is Mucky fat - in fact do i want to know :D

have a great holiday, weathers good in ibiza right now.

Jeff - what on earth is Jen doing on these boards at 5.30 am , i know they're addictive but still - or does she work shifts ?

what on earth is Mucky fat - in fact do i want to know :D

To create the fine delicacy of Mucky fat you cook a joint of pork. After it is cooked you pour the contents into a container put in fridge until it solidifies then serve on fresh homemade bread with a little salt. Also known as pork dripping (Beef dripping from Beef).
No good for your health but is lovely.

05-30-2004, 12:40 PM
Ah, yes, the clothes! I haven't really started on that yet. I'm taking this next week off work and one of my tasks for that time is to get down to serious cruise planning, including a packing list so that I can spread out the purchasing between now and then. We still have to figure out transportation, I'm assuming we'll reserve a rental car from the 7th when we arrive until dropping it off at the port the 9th. On the way from the port to MCO, we'll likely go with a town car for pure convenience's sake. I also need to get our onsite hotel reservations made for the 7th & 8th, but I may wait a bit for that. There's so much to do, and we're coming up upon 4 months to go! I'm sure it will go by fast from this point...

If ya'll are spending a fair amount of time in Florida before going on the cruise, I highly reccomend looking into getting formal dressed at a Ross store. I've managed to find my last 2 formal dresses there and spent less than $15 on each. They're located all over Florida, here's a listing of the ones in the Orlando area: Ross Stores (http://ross.know-where.com/ross/cgi/selection?state-map=FL&country=us&mapid=us&place=&region=&map.x=266&map.y=108)

We have 3 between ourselves, but they are not coming on this vacation. 2 stilll in the house, one about ready to leave High School and the other close on her heals. We will have our 8th Anniversary on 10 OCT. I will be trying to get Palo reservations for that day.

I was in the Keys a number of years ago and found them incredibly tacky and I really don't expect them to have changed much. I have heard that we should do the sting rays, but Mina does not swim and I don't know how much to push. Also I am not much of a beachy person, being very fair skinned. Although I intend to find some shade on CC and relax (well maybe go up in the parasail).

As Mina was born outside the US, she has never seen any of this part of the world and would like to make the whole trip as interesting as possible.

The only part of the keys that are tacky are the touristy spots, there are many wonderful places, esp Key West that are full of history and just beautiful. Hemingway's home is beautiful if you like that kind of thing, Duval Street is great, the whole place is just wonderful

Hi Crainbow, at the sandbar the water is only waist height so mina may enjoy the stingrays, they also do brunch on kw day so you could celebrate twice at Palo :D

we were thinking of renewing our vows in key west on smathers beach or at jefferson fort couldn't spring for the disney renewal but KW is really reasonable . Has anyone been to either beach, which is the more romantic ?

I can't wait to go to the Keys, i guess as Jen says like every resort the tourist trap area will be tacky but we plan to venture all over the island

ohh the waiting is excruciating ;)

Congratulations guys, well done.

Jeff the passport renewal details are available on http://www.ukpa.gov.uk/

The Passport Service is only able to issue and service UK passports to British nationals who are resident in the UK at the time of application. We cannot accept or deal with passport applications from people who are applying outside the UK. We are also unable to answer queries from British Nationals living abroad. These issues should be referred to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

There is a one day turnaround on the following
You will need to make a personal application at one of our offices, using our Premium service. There is an additional fee for this service (see What will it cost?). You must make an appointment before calling at one of our offices by phoning the Passport Adviceline on 0870 521 0410.
In Person at a Passport Office
The fee for the same-day service is £89 (child £71) and for the one-week service £70 (child £60). These fees include the standard passport fee of £42 (child £25) .

Please note:

You should be aware that there are only a limited number of appointments allocated for each day, and that these are allocated on a first come, first serve, basis. The UKPS cannot, therefore, guarantee that customers will be allocated an appointment in time for them to obtain a passport.

The Premium service is a guaranteed one-day service (provided it is received before the cut-off time). This service is not available for people applying for a first passport, or to replace a lost, stolen, or damaged passport. Your passport will be made available for collection at your passport office.
If someone is collecting your passport for you, they must provide evidence of their identity and a signed letter of authorisation from you. If the application is for a child, the person who has signed section 09 of the form must sign the letter. A passport can only be issued if the applicant is in the UK at the time of the application.

The guarantee for this service only applies if your application is properly completed and straightforward. The onus is on you to provide a properly completed application form and the required supporting documents to confirm identity and eligibility. If the information provided is incomplete, or in our view not sufficient to confirm eligibility, we may not be able to issue a passport in the expected time.

You are therefore strongly advised not to book any travel arrangements until you have received your new passport.

Hi Everyone
Not been on the boards for over a week, hope I havn't missed much.
Just had the worst week of my life. My Mum passed away aged 59 suddenly with a blocked Kidney then complications. Fighting fit on the Thursday gone by Sunday. Been very hard to accept going so quickly.
Wish the cruise was nearer.

Thank you for your thoughts last week when Mum passed away. Taking some getting used to, she ran one of my shops which I have had to close, did the Baby sitting, gardening etc, you name it she did it for us.
Hope I can find someone to run my business for me in Oct or will have to close it for 3 weeks.
Trying to plan excursions, don't know wheather to do Stingrays or Dolphin trip or both.
Any upgrades yet? upgraded last year to Cat 6 from 10. Fingers crossed.

Thanks!

Hi All,

Just thought I would drop in and say hello...

This will be our first cruise, it will be also be the first time without DD18 (she will be in college) so it will just be myself42, DH40, DD11.

We will be going to MNSSHP on Friday night, staying at the Contemporay.

Since we booked this trip last Oct the wait has been killing me, but now it seems its just around the corner so I have a couple of questions.

We are staying in a Cat 6 rm #6082

We are going to do the REAS package so, what dining rotation would be best? - we have already selected late dining, larger table.

Any must do's? We usually take things pretty casual/slow so probably will not be trying to cram to much into this trip.

How about anyone with kids similiar in age to DD11, it would be great for her to meet a few people ahead of time(even on email).

Thanks for any help...

Denise

Welcome allforpooh! We will be right down the hall from you in 6070 and one of my DDs will be 11 in October. Please have your DD PM us if she'd like to get acquainted. We'll also be attending MNSSHP Friday night, maybe we'll see you!

Allforpooh: regarding which dining rotation on Western: I think most people who do REAS pick the APLAPLA rotation. This would put you in Lumeniers (sp?) on both formal and semi formal nights and Parrot cay on Tropical nights. We booked this package too but haven't called Debbie in Disney Dining yet.

Wayne: My condolences to you and your family.

Welcome allforpooh!! We too will be at MNSSHP on Friday. This will be our first one, so we are very excited. We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge.

DD will be 10 1/2 on the cruise and is looking for other friends to meet (she already is writing to il-gander's DD). You can have her PM my DD if you like, her name is Jessica.

I also booked REAS, and have already spoken to Debbie. She is as wonderful as everyone says. I booked our spa treatment, and Palo dinner (I wanted to book the brunch, but I just can't find the time). I requested the APLAPLA rotation, it must be very popular, because when I asked Debbie if I could request a certain dining rotation she said "let me guess, you would like the APLAPLA".:)

This is our fourth cruise, but our first Western. Do you have any excursions planned? We changed our minds several times, but I booked two already. The ones we are definately doing are horseback riding on the beach in Grand Cayman (we are also renting a car while we are there), and doing the Dune Buggies in Cozumel. Were not sure what to do in Key West yet. Castaway Cay we are just going to relax and maybe snorkel or rent some bikes.

Double Digits here we come!!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Hi Cindy and allforpooh jen and jeff have kindly arranged a dismeet for sailing day on deck 10 straight after the lifejacket drill, hope to see you there, alot of us are taking kids all seem to be around the 9 - 13 range so i'm sure they'll meet and get on great for the duration , we are taking DS 12 (13 on cruise) and he has been mailing another boy his age which has worked out great , they will be hooking up in the club together and such, it seems like such a friendly group that will be on our cruise so i'm confident the kids will have a great time ( as will us adults ) :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thanks for the responses,

Il-gander, Cindy21494- I will have my daughter PM you both so she can set something up with your daughters.

We are so excited, about both MNSSHP and the cruise. We just received our tickets to MNSSHP and now just need to decide what to wear. Due to a planning blunder, we are arriving at the airport Friday 6:20 which means we will be a little late for the party. I guess better late than not at all....

I still need to make my reservation for REAS, will probably do that this week. We have looked at some of the excursions but have not decided on any yet. We are thinking of staying on the ship for Key West. If we do get off there it will be brief, trying to relax and enjoy the activities on the ship as much as possible.

The Dune Buggies sound like alot of fun, I will need to look into that.

We will also try and make the dismeet, it would be a great start.

Denise

cindy21494
06-30-2004, 10:17 AM
tracie2201, we are going to try to go to the dismeet. DD 4 hates the lifeboat drill, so she might not be in the greatest of moods afterwards. We will just have to see how it goes.

allforpooh, if you are interested in the dune buggie tour, try this website: www.cozumelhomes.com/tours/tour1.htm . Several people on these boards have used them and had no problems. The phone number is 918-747-8160, the person you talk to is Veronica. She is a very nice. My DD is looking forward to talking to your DD. She can't wait to meet everyone in person!:teeth:

Does anyone know where I can send our infromation to be added to the dismeet? I know it is in here somewhere, but this post has gotten so big it will take awhile to find it.

Crainbow pretty sure tickets are still available for the 8th , don't forget if you want to make a priority seating reservation for Liberty Tree Tavern or Crystal Palace you can do it now as we have passed the 90 day mark. You can enter the park from 4pm on MNSSHP if you have a PS giving you from 4 - midnight in the park for $30 ish pretty good value. we're not bothering with the Reas , it reads nice but i'd rather spend the $$ elsewhere.

Hi Wayne, glad things are moving on for you now, can't believe you'll be able to fit in another hol between now and cruise , you lucky duck, i know you normally favour Spain but how about Greek Isles, hot hot hot , cheap food and cheap booze, i read yesterday that the hol prices have been slashed due to german recession so more hols than normal available, if you've got room for one more i fit nicely inside expanding suitcases :-)
I believe if you have an M & S credit card they are offering special exchange rates on the dollar ? not sure what, i'm happy with $1.80 or anything around that mark, paid for my mnsshp tickets today £55 for 3 tickets for 8 hrs in park can't go wrong in my opinion.

Hi Tracie
We also like Greek Islands, been to Corfu and Zakinthos both were good hols. Will leave until last minute unless something comes up. Went to Lanzarote 2 years ago booked day before we flew, 2 weeks all inclusive Easter schools hols £250 each.
I had noticed more than normal hols available but didn't know why.
Also fitting in long weekend in Amsterdam for Aug Bank Holiday, flying from your neck of the woods John Lennon Airport. Didn't realise when I booked it it's Creamfields weekend so no doubt be stuck in traffic.
Usually take 7 weeks abroad each year plus 2 long bank hol w/ends usually Amsterdam.
MNSSHP is vgood value, Think it depends on which night you go but we found crowd about half of what it was thru day and was possible to stay on rides as long as we wanted, stayed on Big thunder mountain about 5 or 6 times.

Hi Everyone
Just booked car hire for Oct. Now booked cruise, car, flights, hotel for 2 weeks after cruise. All I have to do is book a hotel for night before cruise.
I think this is the best year for prices since we started visiting Florida 12 years ago.
Total package has cost about £3,000 ($5,000) for all 3 of us.

Still not booked holiday for August but considering Benidorm, Spain.

Hi Wayne, paid for our flights and car today too, we got scheduled BMI and week group A fully insured for £1500 for the 3 of us , not including cruise or boardwalk which we used DVC points for - hurray for dvc, did your 3 grand include the cruise ? and 2 weeks hotel after cruise ? if so you really did get a good deal, we priced ours up through virgin for cruise, boardwalk flights and car and the brochure price was $10000 no way was that in my budget so really do feel we did the right thing buying DVC. we got our MNSSHP tickets yesterday, really made it all feel quite real and close.

My final payment was due August 1st, so I paid it off this past Wednesday. Only a few more days, and we can start booking shore excursions through Disney!:Pinkbounc

So far we booked Horseback riding in Grand Cayman and a car rental while we are there, and the Dune Buggy tour in Cozumel. I think we are just renting scooters in Key West. On CC, I want to book the Nature walk/Kayak tour, but I'm not sure how it works with dropping off DD's at kids club before we meet for the tour. Otherwise, we will probably snorkel and rent bikes that day.

What does everyone else have planned so far?:boat:

We are still undecided about the excursions, right now we are leaning toward

Cozmel - Fury Catamaran Sail, Snorkely & Beach Party
Key West - just walking around
Cayman - Stingray Sandbar and Coral Gardens (Nativeway water sports) or Rays, Reef and Rum Point.
CC - Probably just beach and maybe rent bikes

Has anyone done the excursions above, if so what are your thoughts?

She will be riding with either me or DH. Did you book the Dune Buggies through Cozumel Homes? I saw several people say they were very good, so we went with them. If you are on the same tour with us, that will be great!!:) I was hoping there would be other's from the ship with us.

I'm getting so excited!!:hyper: One more week and we will be at the two month mark.:Pinkbounc

Cindy we rode with Honeysuckle last year they are wonderful and plan to book a private ride for 5 this year. We haven't booked the Dune Buggies yet Jeff squared (my Jeff and the other Jeff) are dragging their heels in that aspect of the planning....

Jenkatt, if you go through Cozumel Homes, you will probably speak to Veronica. She is very nice, but make sure you request a confirmation. I had to call her back and request one. I didn't ask when I made the reservation (I just assumed they would send one), so I don't think she sent it when I made the ressie.

I'm glad you liked Honey Suckle, how was your last ride? Do you actually go in the water, or just along side of it? We've never done a beach ride before, and are not sure what to expect.

Thanks:)

Cindy

Since my husband and I ride a bit, they were a bit more adventerous with us. We did go in the water, not enough the horses had to swim, but my shorts did get wet. It was a wonderful time.....

We really liked the Omni Rosen, the main reason being is that is was usually full of conference delegates who were working at the convention centre next door, hence, the pool was really quiet during the day time.

The rooms are pretty standard, although they were looking a little "tired" the last time we stayed there. It could probably use a facelift in the near future.

They have a great 24 hour deli in the lobby which we used all the time. Restaurants were OK, but overpriced compared to other stuff on I-Drive, but they mainly catered to the business traveller.

One downside is the walk from the car park at the rear, to the lifts to the rooms. There is a HUGE conference facility at the back of the hotel, and it's a long walk, especially with two young kids after a day at the parks.

Overall, I probably wouldn't go back again, mainly because there are some newer properties in the area that I would like to try out, namely the Ritz Carlton and the new JW Marriot.

For the rate you quoted though, I think it's a good deal.
