I was thinking about the "Who Exercised... Threads and thought a pledge to do so may help us along. If we say we will, then we are more likely to do it. If we don't get it done today, (and there will be a thread for this tomorrow :teeth: ), we can look back at what is getting in the way of our efforts. (For me, it is usually not getting my dinner plans together in a timely manner :rolleyes; !) Even if we pledge 10 mins. of walking around the house or up and down the stairs, lets promise ourselves that 10 mins of "it's all about me" time. OK? I'll start!
I pledge to go to the gym and walk with DH for an hour tonight! (or with out DH! That is up to him!)
Keep the Faith!

I'm going to pledge too, Tracy!! I've been *really* slacking off in the exercise department lately and I know it's just because I've let my habit of doing it first thing in the morning slide.
I pledge to lift weights tonight and to do 50 crunches while I'm watching TV - no more sitting on my butt.

Way to Go Nicole! I was beginning to think that nobody wanted to play or that this was an offensive thread! :( Sounds like a great work out!

I think having a pledge is a great idea. My exercise has been the one constant in this journey lately. It all started with the exercise clippies...they help to keep me motivated and on track. Today I was able to place my 3 month exercise clippie and I am so excited that I have stuck to my commitment. So today I pledge to continue with my exercise, I pledge to exercise a minimum of 3 days a week for at least 45 minutes each session.

I'll pledge to walk 1 mile every day. I have only just seen this thread so I'll start tomorrow. (it's 10.30 in the evening here so it's a bit late to start today)

I've let the exercise slide the past three weeks (except for all the walking around Disney). So I'm pledging to WATP at least 4 times this week.:Pinkbounc

I am pledging to continue walking/exercising so I can get to the 1/2 marathon with the WISHers in Jan 2005 (even if I might be the oldest one of us WISHers participating). Also want to get in some sort of 10k in spring if I can...not a race but participation! Seems like a long way off for me, but I got the 5k part down I think I am ready to try and push up.

Hi,
I want to join.
I pledge to walk at least 45 minutes a day 4 times a week on the treadmill.
I am getting ready for the half-marathon on Thanksgiving and I am in need of some serious training.
Thanks for the thread.

I already go on the stepper for 45-60 mins a day plus I do some walking. I could really do to work out my upper body. So I am going to pledge to do 50 crunches a day and do some upper body weight bearing exercise.

This is a great idea! I've done WATP 4 & 3 mile Sat. and Sun. so I'll pledge to exercise at least 6 times this week. I'm heading to bed now so tonight will be my night off.
Great idea!

I am a bit late to this thread - but - 'I Claire, the ultimate exercise hater (beginning to reform!!) pledge to do WATP 2 mile once or 1 mile twice 6 days this week!!'
I missed yesterday and did not do it - it was the start of TOM and I always feel awful - so I pledge everyday from today on.
Good luck with the pledges everyone we can do it,

WOW! You guys are really committed! I can only pledge a day at a time. (12 Step Program. :teeth: ) I did go for my walk with DH. It was a bit slower than I would have liked, but it was an hour I did not spend sitting on the sofa watching TACO BELL commercials.
Today I will do my strength training for 40 mins. I really need to get those abs ripped! (I'm dreaming, but maybe my dream will become reality.) I have notice a difference. Unfortunately, my slimmer waistline has caused my bottom to appear much larger. I know it's not, because my pants are getting more comfy every day, but in the mirror  ! Good luck to all who've pledged.!
Keep the Faith!

Good morning!!
I too have slacked off on my exercise in the last few weeks - I will pledge to do either 1 mile on my Gazelle tonight, or the 2 mile WATP tape (depending on time allowed).
Thanks for the motivation!

tlgoblue,
I like the idea of pledging only one day at a time, really keeps you focused in the 'moment'. So, for me today, I'm doing the 2 mile WATP right after work, after my haircut, after stoping at Home Dept for lime green Mickey paint chips (Sonic, not Alien), but before dinner! Maybe being specific about WHEN it will happen will help MAKE it happen!

I pledge to do the WATP 3 mile express tape 3 days a week in the evening and walk at least a mile in the afternoon (weather permitting) or on the treadmill if its nasty outside.

UGH! I did it, but man it was hard. I used weights and it really added a whole new level of difficulty! I hope I don't get sore. I really wasn't into it either. :o I think this weather has got me wanting to crawl into bed and fageddabadit! But I do have a football game to go to and it happens to be right next door to the gym, so, I'm thinking I will pick up DD from school, which is also on the way to the gym and go for a swim or something. Maybe I'll do the TM for a half hour. Maybe I'll just power walk the track, but I should go.

Keep up the Good Work everybody!
I kept my pledge yesterday with my cardio work out. I had a great one and sweat so much I think I offended the very petit eldrely lady next to me!:o I don't know where that came from, as I'm not normally a sweater, but it felt kind of good. I did not get to go for my daily stroll, as I got a flu shot yesterday, and was (still am) feeling under the weather. I pledge today to do my Pilates, and to at least do some walking at the gym. It may just be around the track, depending on if I perk up at all by then!
Keep the Faith!

I am going to pledge to do a WATP tape at least 3x a week. I already have 2x in this week, hopefully I'll get myself out of bed early enough tomorrow to do the 2 mile ab before work.

Well, I totally blew it yesterday! What got in My way was Christmas shopping! I had to pick up a rather large item and in order to do that, I had to remove the seats from my van. Well, once I started that, I decided to give it a good cleaning. I have a Siberian Husky and his hair was all over the van and the garage, so I spent the whole day on those two things. I'm sure I got some sort of exercise benefit, but I just feel like I didn't keep my pledge to do my cardio and strength traing. Today I am going to the gym. Maybe I can talk DH into using the TM instead of the track, then I can use the elliptical and get a good work out. (Right now, his getting back into the swing of things takes priority when he is home, and he needs my support, so we do what he wants. I can kick butt when he's gone. ;) )
Good luck to all and congratulations to you who have keep your pledges!
Keep the Faith!

My week was good! Let's see.... Saturday I did the 4 mile WATP, Sunday the 3 Mile WATP w/weights, Monday off, Tuesday Tae Bo II Advanced, Weds 4 Mile WATP w/weights, Thursday off, Friday 2 Mile WATP w/weights.
So I did 5 days this week! I think I pledged to do 6, so I came a little short but it's been a stressful week so I'm impressed w/myself that I did 5, all things considered.
So since today is the start of my week, I'll commit again. This time I'll be more specific. I'm going to work out 6 X this week. 3 of the nights must be Tae Bo and the other 3 WATP.
Great job everyone! Keep it up!

I did quite well - and did WATP 4 days last week - not 6 times as I had pledged. BUT - This was a great step forward for me - the first time I have really done any exercise in years!!
This week I am going to aim for WATP 2 mile - 6 days this week.
Hope I make it!
Good luck to all with your exercise this week,
Claire

So how did you all do this past week? I kept my pledge, mostly. So today, I will go to the gym for cardio and try to squeeze in a strength training sessoin this a.m., but first I have to go to the bank and post office to pay DH's speeding tickets! So laundry is in the wash and I'm out the door. My happy news is that my 10's still fit! I was really scared to try them on this a.m., considering I am a bit puffy! YEA!

OK! So all is not lost. Apparently I had been suffering from morning bloat, because when I wnt to the gym and used their scale, I was down a pound, to 151. That is OK! So here is my new pledge! I signed up for Pilates 2 days/week, and signed up DD for a class on Mondays and Wednesdays. So that means that I will be at the gym M-TH. I'll have to figure something out for F- SUN, but I'm sure I'll be doing some walking and maybe practice my Pilates! Going back to the gym in an hour, then I'll probbaly just do Pilates tomorrow at home, gym on Wed, pilates on Thurs. This weekend will be a bust, since we'll be out of town, but I also promise no candy! (Friday, I'm going to Indy. Does power shopping count as exercise!? :p )
Keep the Faith!
