We put a down payment and signed the papers in early December 2000. Our closing was not until the end of January though. Although in our heart we "joined" in 2000, legal I guess it was 2001. Make sense? I voted for 2001 under protest.:confused:

We first looked into DVC in 1994, but didn't make a purchase until 1998; and the deed was recorded in Feb. 1999. Don't know why we waited so long, but I'm glad we finally went for it!

After all those years of seeing the DVC reps at MK and thinking we finally got around to it when I found great deal on a resale at the BWV in '97.
Now we're thinking about WLV. I don't think it will as long since we now know how wonderful the DVC really is.

So far this poll is showing that we on this board are very heavily weighted to the recent years: about 60% of the responses in 1999-2001. Is this really how sales went, with a big surge in 1999-2001?

We joined DVC in February of '95. Funny, during our trip to Disney in '91 (staying at CBR for the first time on property) we passed OKW(the Vacation Club back then) not really thinking what it was or going to be!! Looking back, we really wished we would have looked into it then!!!!!!

Read about DVC in a one-inch blurb about vacation ideas in a woman's magazine; called the number, had all the info sent, and had the deal done within a couple of weeks. The absolute smartest move I ever made, and my one and only regret-----why didn't we buy more points?!!:rolleyes:

We joined DVC this past May in the VWL and officially closed 2 days ago! Hoooooooooooorrrrraaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy!!! We first stayed at CBR in 1992. Old Key West was pretty new and so was DVC. How I wish we joined back then. Oh, well... better late than never!

We took the tour in January 1995. We loved it, had our ice cream, took our picture and then went home. Two weeks later we called our guide and had our paperwork 2 days later for our 230 points. We got our deed at the end of March and we were set to go. We have enjoyed it ever since.....but we sure do miss those comp. passes!:p

We joined in October of 1999. Decided almost on the spot after their short presentation and no pressure sales pitch. (Actually, it was not even really a sales pitch.) Used our first points last March at DisneyLand's Grand California Hotel. First stay at a DVC resort will be next month at Vero Beach and BWV. Can hardly wait. Oh yeah we included a cruise on the Wonder as well. The points really do go far!

Back in 95 when we got free tickets to the parks, when our room was ready when we arrived, when there was pre-registration, when there was check in area for members, when we were extremely happy with our purchase. Using hind-sight I would say we got a great deal because of the free tickets to the parks. I don't beleive the same for people who are making purchases at this time however. WDW has changed too much and will continue to move toward being an amusement park rather than a family place with attractions for all members of the family. My favorite thing to do now will be just to get out of the cold weather for a few weeks every year. For that reason I am still happy with my purchase but not because of anything WDW has done.

We joined while on our honeymoon in October 2000. My husband always says that he wishes that we knew about DVC before the honeymoon (we did the grand plan and stayed at the Grand Floridian and paid ALOT for it! - just think of all the points we could've bought!!)

DH finally said "yes" and we signed papers in August 2001. DD and I went on a last minute trip to OKW this past Feb. The "family" will go to VB and then our "home" this July. Hope that DH will love it as I already do!!!!
