Does anyone know what the drinking age in Orlando is? It's 21 here in NYC, but I think I read it's 18 in Florida. Can anyone help?

The drinking age in all states in the US is 21. The federal government starts pulling your highway funding if you don't have a minimum drinking age of 21 - so even the holdouts have jumped on the bandwagon.

Crisi has it right on the money. Vermont was one of the last hold-outs, but caved in to the federal fund pressure quite some time ago.

There is a Supreme Court case, Dole v. South Dakota, from the late 1980's that allowed the federal government to use such a program with federal funds in order to underage drinking & driving. :)

And I'd like to add, Disney especially but Florida in general is very strict on the fake IDs. The bartenders/bouncers at PI/etc were VERY good at spotting the fakes.

Disney will ALWAYS ask for ID. Drinking age is 21, and if you try to pass a fake, they will most likely catch it, and hand you off to Disney Security.

They didn't ask for ID for me, not once, this trip! :(

(Course I am going on 40 and was traveling with my four and five year old. Don't know what I would have done at the pool bar, where I just had my room key tucked into my suit.)

Crisi - LOL! Reminds me of a trip to Vegas in 2000 - went I went to cash a hundred the woman at the cage asked for ID. I didn't realize she was carding me - I thought it was just because I was cashing a bill. She looks at my birth date (1965) and gave a start - that's when I realized she was carding me, and I thanked her profusely. I went back to tell my husband and his answer was "the lighting is very low." What a Killjoy!

DH and I went to a wedding where we knew no one but the groom. We sat down and were joined by the rest of our tablemates. The last person to show up looked around and said "oh, this must be the table for twentysomethings who don't know anyone."

I wanted to pinch her cheeks and say "well, aren't you the sweetest thing!?"

I get carded all the time at Disney, heck any place and I am well over 21.

At the WL pool bar they were very strict with checking IDs, one guy gave the ladies a very hard time because they would not serve him without an ID. He finally left and came back with his wallet that had his regular ID as well as his police ID in. The ladies then really let him have it because he of all people should understand. DH and I were sitting there snickering. It was great. and Oh my DH is a police officer too and was ready to tell this guy off. roflmbo.
