DH and I would love to try Teppanyaki, but our DS (4) won't eat anything on the kid's menu. Is it possible to get more generic kids food such as hot dogs or chicken fingers there? If not, would it be ok to bring it in with us?

Thanks for any advice!

This doesn't directly answer your question, but...

We took our two DSs (5 and 3) to Benihana's(very similar to Teppanyaki) and they loved eating there. They even ate some vegetables!

The atmosphere is so fun and novel that it might be a perfect opportunity to introduce new food to your DS, especailly if you have other children at the same table. I think you and your DH should go. Your DS might surprise you and himself by enjoying the food, and if not, you can buy him something else afterward, or if all fails, order him a dish of ice cream.:D

Have fun!

As far as I know, no. We ate at Teppenyaki this time - and my kids did fine. The kids meal is chicken on the grill with mixed veggies and rice - and my kids LOVE rice. We ate at the tempura bar last time, and they had tempura chicken - which are "like" chicken fingers and may be available at Teppenyaki.

Why not get a hot dog for you son before you go in and then just order him a side of rice and feed him off your plate? He will enjoy the show.

Be aware that the grill is very hot and your son will be about ten inches from the edge. The ends of the table are cooler and they will put him down there. We didn't have a problem with our kids (4 and 5), but I'm still unconvinced this is a good restaurant for smaller kids.

Also, make sure you have a PS. There were no walkins available.

we ate there last week with our 4 and 7 year old DD's...the kids meals are chichen or steak...either are cut up and cooked without spices, served with dipping sauces and lots of funky stuff on the side...some type of noodle, veggies, plain rice and ice cream for dessert...they prepare their chop sticks so that they are kid friendly and our girls loved eating with them...4 yo is also a lover a the basics...but she was in to it from our prep before the meal with her that she tried several new things and ate almost all her steak...

My picky eater 10 yr old son likes the steak and rice at Teppanyaki. And the ice cream. He doesn't eat fruit or vegetables, both of which come with the kids' meals.

Im sure if you asked the hostess when you are seated, they would be able to get your child some tempura chicken, which is just like chicken fingers from Tempura Kiku, which is housed in the same building.

My DS is also very picky but will eat grilled meat with ketchup so this is on our list and I will be stashing some ketchup packets in my backpack!;)

I also keep peanut butter in my backpack too because he will eat any kind of bread in a restaurant if it has peanutbutter on it!
