View Full Version : WISH checkin - week of October 19, 2003

I didn't see a checkin thread for this week, so I'll start one. If I missed it, just delete this one! :)
I'm up 1.6 this week. Maintenance! :) I would have like something UNDER a pound, but I guess 1.6 is okay!
How'd everyone do???

Good Morning fellow WISHers! I'm down 2.5 lbs this morning! Which means... I get a new CLIPPIE!! :Pinkbounc And I am 2 lbs towards my next one so I am well on my way! :teeth: I exercised 6 days this week which was a little mini goal for myself and I managed to stick with it.
SnackyStacky - I am sure maintenance is tricky - don't worry you've accomplished so much already that I am sure you will get this figured out too!

SnackyStacky Thanks for starting the check in thread for us, Dan. Sounds like you're getting the hang of maintenance. I love to see you check in each week. So motivating to watch you continue to succeed.
kayeandjim00 You are doing great with that exercise. I'm so proud of you. You're 2.5 pounds lighter, too! Good job, sweetie. Love your new clipart and I love your positive attitude, too.
bambii You're doing great. I just replied to your progress report on last week's check in thread, too. I love your exuberance and enthusiasm, it is contagious and motivating.

I was BAD on Friday......... so it serves me right not to lose anything. But I didn't gain either- so that is a good thing!!
I had an awards dinner to go to, and had a crab/crabcake appetizer, salad, filet, green beans, MP and dessert. There was very little 'cake' in the crabcake part of the appetizer (at the bottom), so that was okay. I ate the salad and the filet- and left the veggies on the plate. The dessert did me in though. It was a chocolate/mocha mousse tower......
Well....... there were 4 other Atkins followers at my table (including DH) and they saw me being good....... (NO cheats for 3 months) and I was URGED to cheat!!! So I broke, and it was WONDERFUL- but I felt guilty afterward.
The good news is that my net carbs were only 35 total for the day.
However, Saturday was a new start for me.... so onward and downward I go!!!

Hi Everybody,
I was on here early this morning and didn't see the check in. I'm sure glad to see it now. I never know whether or not to start one.
Anyway, I'm glad to say I FINALLY had a really good week. After a 1 pound loss the previous week and nothing the previous 2 weeks, I lost 3 pounds last week! For me that's amazing. I hope the scale wasn't playing tricks on me. But I was really good, did a 5K charity walk last Sunday, and walked and biked a lot this past week with DH.

*Flower* You were bad? On Friday? Oh my...but wait, Friday was a couple of days ago. That means that happened in the past and you know what that means, my friend. That means we forget about it. We don't waste our precious life energy feeling guilty about the past, remember? Look at you now! You are back on track and headed for goal. You even maintained your weight, so you couldn't have been that bad. Good for you hopping right back on plan on Saturday. I'm proud of you!
nancyj_pa Way to go! Good job losing 3 pounds this week. Sometimes our bodies don't lose the weight on the timeline we have set, do they. I'm so glad you didn't get frustrated and give up. I'm proud of your determination. I'm also very proud of you for participating in a walk for charity. What a great thing to do.

Just got back from WDW! Had an absolute blast, but certainly did not do Dr. Phil (or myself) proud. Gained about 3 pounds, but didn't do too good a job at drinking a good enough amount of water and splurged some. For only gaining 3 pounds it was worth it!
Oh well, perhaps it's just really muscle gain as I walked so much more than I ever do. Only the scale will tell in the coming week. But I am refocused and ready to be a healthy skinny minnie by the time we go to WDW next year!

It was a really good week for me! :sunny:
I'm down 3 lbs this week! Lots of inches too.
I've lost 4 straight days in a row which is almost a record for me!
I went shopping and it was fun! I fit comfortably in a size 16 jeans. I could get in a 14 but it was too tight to really wear.
A bought a cute shirt in the misses dept for the first time in ages!
Yesterday I ate steak, strawberries with real whipped cream and 2 small slices of sugar free pumpkin swirl cheesecake and still lost weight!
Went to Outback Steakhouse and wasn't even tempted to cheat! All I had there was salad and steak. :)

I lost 2lbs and 2 inches this week. I have been slacking off with the exercise lately after being sick and then trying to get into the groove of things with my new job at BBW. This week I am really going to make an effort to get exercise back into my plan.

Well, I am happy to say I am down 1.5 pounds and happy to see the scale moving in the right direction again. My leader at WW said that perhaps I was not eating "enough" (lol) on the plan since I used so little FPs and didn't use my APs either. This week I made sure to include some extra points in my daily eating plan and that seemed to help.
Good luck to everyone this week!

Down two more pounds this week to 131! :)
Not sure where I want goal to be. I had it set at 130, but there are still parts of my body that are too big (my flabby pouch from having two kids) and my inner thighs especially)
I guess I'll keep eating within the parameters of hungry and satisfied and God will set my goal weight. :)

Down another 2.5 pounds this week! That's a total of 14.5 pounds since taking the WISH challenge, so that next clippie will be mine next week, I'm sure of it.
This week I actually ate a bit more than I have been. I checked in with fitday and realized I probably wasn't eating enough calories, so I increased my intake. And I still lost!

I'm holding steady this week, no loss, no gain. I was kinda bad, too. I had some carbs this week. When the cold weather hits I get sooo hungry!
Oh well, I'll be back on program tomorrow!

I am still on the see-saw, so I regained the 2 pounds I lost last week. I am having such trouble getting back on program. I don't know why--I love Atkins!! Oh, well, I'm rededicating myself to the program and hope to have a great check in next week.

After my gain last week, I really stuck with it this week. I didn't want gaining to become a habit again. I am very, very happy to report a 1.8 pound loss! Yippee! I'm well on my way to earning back my 5 pound clippie. :) Onward and downward!

I maintained this week, which is great because I ate off plan two days. I am happy with maintaining, because this is a long range thing, and I will need those skills (someday!;) ).
I did exercise every day, and plan to continue that. I am amazed that the days I don't exercise first thing in the morning, I look forward to it all day! Who'da thunk it? :p
I am back on track now!

I'm down another 1/2 pound this week. I've been sick with a bad cold so only exercised twice, but hopefully this week will be better. I usually feel so much better after I've exercised, however my full stuffy head was not able to handle much this week :(
Hope everyone's week is a good one.

Hi everybody,
I've been off program for a couple of weeks now. I got back from a fantastic Disney trip last Sunday, but somehow couldn't jump back on the wagon this week. So - tomorrow it's a fresh start for me. I think I'm up about 5 pounds from 3 weeks ago, but hopefully a lot of it is "bloat" and will come off quickly. Congratulations to all the losers, maintainers, and those of us who gained but are still here. Have a great week everyone!:D

Glad to see so many have lost this week and such positive thoughts from those that haven't too!!
It feels like it is all good news for me this week!
I am delighted to say that I have lost 6lb in my first week back on Atkins!
Also I have been doing WATP every day - aiming for either the one mile twice or else the two mile - and most days I have stuck to that. Boy, at the moment I find the two mile a killer - I am so unfit! But I know do this is a real postitive change for me. I am trying to be a reformed exercise hater!!!!
The third thing I am really pleased about is that I did NOT feel at all ill this week on induction - I felt so bad when I first started - I was not looking forward to that again! I am wondering if it was the caffeine withdrawl that made me feel so bad - because caffeine was one thing I did not go back too during my four weeks off plan.
Now that I have lost the 6lb I am entitled to the 20lb clippie again - I should have returned it last week - but I couldn't face it!!
I am not back to the point I was before I went to WDW - but I know I will be again soon and then it will be all down from there!
Good luck to everyone this week,
Claire:D

I haven't weighed myself yet. I just want to say well done to all you successful WISHers. It doesn't matter whether you haven't lost weight or have even put a bit on, you are successful because you still posted here and this week will be a great week for all of us!!
Claire4dpins congratualations on losing 6lb. IMO it is not always easy to get back on plan once you have been off. So good job on getting back on Atkins. You'll soon be back to the point that you were at before you went on your trip. ::yes::

I am very excited ro report a 3.5 lb. loss this morning!!!!!!!
I'm also down 17 inches from when I started! Haven't gone down a size yet but everything feels better on me (which most likely means I really should have been wearing one size larger).
Best of all I get a brand new 15 lb. clippie and I'm in ONEderland for the first time in 13 years!!!!!!!!!!!
I started this journey a little over a month ago and next to saying yes when my DH asked me to marry him it is the best decision I've every made.
My next goal is to get to my 10% loss mark which is now only 6 lbs. away. Personal goal would be to be another 10 lbs. lighter before we head to WDW in early Dec. I would love to be sporting a 25 lb. clippie by that time and since that is 6 weeks away I think it is totally doable.
Thanks to everyone for their great support!
Congrats to everyone on another week accomplished. Even if you gained you are sticking with it and that's important!
Have a great week everyone!

Maintained this week. Was really hoping for a significant loss, as I really have been eating well and getting enough exercise  I'm thinking it must be salt. I did have cheese soup, and since then (Saturday) I have been very puffy. So, I'm off to the gym to try and sweat off a few. I'm now shooting for 148 by Halloween. A new clippie would be a huge treat , if not a trick, for me! :p

Me and DH are going away this weekend w/my family to Cincinnatti to see the Seahawks play the Bengals...our Anniversary is tomorrow, so I am really praying for that .5 loss by then!!! My TOT goal will be met, then, too!!! :hyper:

I gained a pound this week, but I lost two and a half inches overall. I'm guessing the gain is either from muscle or TOM. I did exercise a bit more this week than I have been. I'm not discouraged because I noticed this weekend my face is really looking thin and my DH noticed it too. It always makes me feel better when I can see the changes.
Everyone else is doing a fabulous job. You are all great inspiration! Good luck this week!:D

Ok...so I joined WISH 9/16 and this is my first check in post. Thank you all for everything I get from you...I lurk and don't post often but will change that. :-)
The last month has had many ups and downs, but here's where I am for wish:
252/244.7/140
So I did earn my 5# clippie and figured out how to add that this morning!!lol Over all I'm down 30.3 pounds. We're headed to WDW in DEcember (Need to check into getting a countdown timer!) and so I'd like to be another 10 down before then.
Have a great day!! And thanks again for all the motivation!!

Hi everyone! I am happy to report another 1 lb loss this week. I am on a slow but steady course to my goal. I am leaving for Las Vegas this Sunday so I will be posting late next week but I hope to at least maintain until then.

I maintained again this week. I think it was more likely that a few lbs from our WDW trip the previous week may have come & gone, especial;ly since I dodn't show a gain when we came home from WDW! I am back on plan now, so I should see some loss next week. I was pretty lazy about exercising over the weekend, too. I'm sure that didn't help because I always lose easier when I exercise. I'm back on track with that, too, so it's onward to a losing week this coming week for me!
I did have one real victory today. :teeth: I was able to pull my jeans (no elastic in the waist) down without unbuttoning or unzipping them! DH didn't understand why I was so excited, but I'm sure all of you will get it!

I've maintained for the third straight week. I keep saying that I'm going to get back on track and I have yet to do it. I've journaled all my points so far today, which is something I haven't done in those three weeks. So I'm off to a good start. We'll see how it goes.

Good Morning Wishers,
Weighed in at WW last night and I'm down another 4.6 lbs for a total of 12.8 since joining Wish (and 16.8 lbs overall.)
Everyone is doing so well this week, even those that have maintained or gained a little. We are all on the right track and I am so proud of all of us here.
I still need to work on drinking more water and upping my exercise to at least 5 x's a week. Only did WATP 4 x's last week.
Keep up the good work.

It's the first time since April 1st that I've shown a GAIN on the scale. But surprisingly I'm only about 10% down and 90% raring to go for the next "phase" of my weight loss that will get me to goal. I weighed in at 187 and that's a pretty sweet re-starting point compared to the 236 I started at 6 months ago! After 2 weeks of antibiotics for pneumonia, no exercise, and way too much comfort food for being sick I am better- breathing okay and walked my 4 miles for the first time in 3 weeks yesterday. So I'm committed and writing out a new weight chart to fill in and get back on task of losing to be healthy!
Thanks everyone for sharing your successes and even the gains to let us all feel we can succeed at being healthy and being proud of our lifestyle.
On an aside, I went to a toy store I frequent around the holidays and the owners maybe see me 8x a year- they have loads of customers and didn't think they'd remember me....well one dear lady pulled me aside and said, "You've lost A LOT of weight!!" It was a sweet moment- and my neighbor asked if I was stopping losing now- wow!! It feels good and those little sayings keep your chin up and away from the M&M's!! :)

:hyper: It's clippie time - AGAIN! :moped:
I'm not sure how I did it, especially after the 4 pounds gone last week, but I have 5 pounds gone this week! That gives me a new clippie for the 2nd week in a row - only 4 pounds away from that beautiful gold 30 lb clippie, and my first 10% goal! I can't wait...
I also made my Halloween goal over a week early - 25 pounds gone, plus one to spare! And I've kept up my exercise streak - up to 71 days in a row. I'm setting a new goal for Thanksgiving: lose another 10 pounds, and keep up my daily exercise. I can do it! :teeth:
I had a great week - I didn't snack on candy at work at all! I also had a great lunch out at Chili's - did you know that they'll substitute steamed veggies for the fries with any sandwich/burger? And the veggies are actually tasty!
I'm absolutely ready to live this way for the rest of my life! Woo-hoo!

0.5 lb off this week. I'd hoped for more as I've been sticking rigidly to my eating plan. I spoke to the consultant and she feels I'm not drinking enough water, and I have to agree as I've not been drinking much since the weather turned colder - I'm back on the coffee which must be about the worst thing to drink!
Oh well, at least it's off.

Stress, Stress and more STress!!!! We just had our annual halloween ball which is basically me cooking for 200 people and organizing and running the event. I survived. cooked BAD food for 200 people and did no more than a single spoonful of each food to check the flavoring. It didn't hurt me a bit and even my 2am, thank god it's over glass of wine didn't kill me!
1.5 pounds down this week and definitely feeling successful!

Hi Everyone! I'm finally checking in. I was away this weekend chaperoning girls at a choir retreat, and food was entirely (98%) out of my control. So I guess that I basically ended up . . . maintaining. I was up a bit, but when I weighed in at Curves tonight, I can say maintaining ;) I am still not back to snuff, but I'm doing the best I can. And you know what? I'm not only okay with that, I'm proud that I've been able to accomplish what I have! I often get comments these days, and those help to keep me on track. Now, if I can just stay away from the candy corn :earseek: I'll be on my weigh :moped:

Hi all!! Congrats to all the posters, everyone seems to be upbeat and have a plan.
As for me, there was no change this week. Don't know whether it was the mexican dip on Sunday (after some not so good news, I always was an emotional eater), the swollen foot for the last two days or maybe I am gaing some muscles since I am exercising everyday for the first time in my life. Whatever, I plan to stay the course and hopefully will see a loss this week.
Hope everyone has a good week!

I skipped checking in last week. Not because I haven't been following program but because I haven't seen much progress lately. I have lost about 1lb so my new total lost is 42.5. This has been really slow for me and it's beginning to look as though I won't be wearing my smaller clothes that I bought for my trip at the end of November. I'm not giving up all hope though. I will continue on my new healthier way of life and be very happy with the success that I have already had. Congratulations to everyone that has lost or maintained or just come back to face the music. Hope everyone has a great week!

Ok, not the best week, but I am forcing myself to check in anyway. I actually had to trade backwards back to the Member clippie from the sporty 5 lb clippie I had. I am sure that I will get to trade back up next week (at least I really hope so). According to my WW mtg today, I am up 1 lb. Not the end of the world, just not loving seeing a "+" something instead of a "-" something.
Maybe this will force me to get back on track. I've already started slipping a bit from being strict on my program and journaling everything.
When I was on the program before I got used to riding along since I know the points well, and somehow I usually skim through the week with a bit of a loss. Time to buckle down again.
Time to live by the slogan: If you bite it, write it!

Yes - I am down 4lbs today!! Haven't seen 155.5 come up and stay there that is :p on any scales I have stepped on in many, many a moon!
short version - last week I bought the South Beach Diet book and read it and then thought I would try - well only made it on phase I for 3 days and then my DH made a very dense ww bread (no white flour) and I added it and some fruit for the rest of the week. (I did count WW pts and stayed within all week) To my amazement, I was down - for me - the most I have lost in one week.
I wanted to try this because I knew I was staying in WW point range everyday but I was still craving sugar. I can say that the craving is gone and I did learn some things from reading the book.
Healthy is most important to me but I will admit I have had a big smile all day and that goal of 5.5 more off before the Dec trip is a possibility.
Total 33 off for me, so my real "short term" goal is that 35 pound clippie! :p

I lost! I think i'm still in shock.
it's a tiny loss 0.4 but i'll explain why i'm beyond thrilled with it.
Over the weekend, Sat and Sun i ate 80 points. Went for a few drinks and had to get fast food after so BF ordered me a double burger! Which i ate! Then on Sun had a bit of "Screw it" mentality going so cheesecake and deep fried food for dinner. But monday morning picked myself back up and went back on plan. And this is the result. I'm so thrilled.:Pinkbounc :

:( Well, I gained 2 pounds this week. I really didn't want to post, but then I thought that I have to be accountable. Plus I think it helps others who have gained to see that they are not alone.
I binged several times this week and now I'm paying for it. On the good side, I did learn from this week and I am back OP. Eventually I will need to maintain this loss and I need to learn these lessons.

Hi everyone!
It's been a so-so week for me ... I tried my best to stay OP but unfortunately, it's TOM ... so there were times that I ate waaaay too much and too many cookies.
But... I still have good news. I was still able to lose 0.2 lbs :p So I'll take a small loss and work harder to stay on program next week!

Here I go again! I am up 3 pounds. I am trying to add some carbs as I know induction is not a way of life, just a beginning. I still don’t have it exactly down to how I need to proceed. Life is an experiment for me these days. I am managing to exercise.
I measured and have a slight loss in size so I will take that. I am trading fat for muscle and understand that will cause my size to not change too much since last month, but it did go down a about 1/4 inch in most places. I just will have wrinkled skin covering muscle instead of wrinkled skin covering fat!
:teeth:
Keep on keepin' on.

Well, I am just staying the same. Although I went shopping this week and all the shirts I bought were size large, not xlarge! I felt good about that. And the size pants I got were size 12. I was so happy that I didn't have to get the 14's.
Actually, the pants I finally fit into again, that I have had for years and years are size 10. I wear the Lee jeans with the side elastics. Their sizes seem to be smaller than others, or just made for real people like me.
Keep up the good work everyone!

I think I missed a check in! Oh well, I am here now. I have maintained this week. I'm pretty happy with that, because last week and this week are THE most stressful weeks in my work year - I produce a big event. It leads to really long hours and crazy meal times. So I'm really pleased to not gain - this event usually sees me put on a few pounds!
So wish me luck with my last crazy weekend, and I can look forward to a more "normal" schedule next week.

Checking in this week with a 2 pound loss!! Only 1 more pound to get my platinum clippie!!!!! Wasn't sure if I would lose anything this week but really glad I did.
I have also gone from a BMI of 38 down to a 30!!!

Down 1.5 for me today for a total of 17 lost. Cutting it close for the 20 pounds before my trip....let's see 8 days till I get on the plane.... that's .375 lbs per day...thinking maybe I should KISS for the last week? For sure stay away from the 'processed' meats and the nuts and cheese I've been using as 'snack' foods, MORE water and longer walks (need the walks to get in condition for WDW anyway!).
Onwards and downwards everybody!
Up a pound this week but that's ok! Have had quite a few more points than normal (ha!) this week but it was expected. Friends of ours are staying at WDW so we went out for a few meals with them. Should be on plan again now and lose that pound (and maybe more!) by next Friday! :) Woo-hoo!

At my weigh-in last night, I found that I lost 5.2 lbs this week! :faint: I maintained last week, after a trip to the beach & a visit from TOM. So, it all evens out in the long run! But, I'll take it! Overall, I've lost 12.8 lbs on WW, and am upgrading to a 20 lb. clippie today (from pre-WW attempts!)!! :hyper:
Debbie... You are doing such a great job girl!! You SHOULD be proud of yourself! I'm very proud of my PM buddy!
alreadyexcitedgrammy... I think I can see your smile through the computer! You are hanging in there, and I think you're an angel! :goodvibes
ohmom... Don't worry, you are right - "at least it's not gaining!". Keep up the high spirits! :sunny:
ohiominnie... You look so great, I'm afraid the wind may come along during our cruise and sweep you right off of the side! :boat:
melaniec... I've talked to the whooshfairy and she's coming your way next week! :cool1:
Let's all have a great weekend!!! :grouphug:

joats Welcome back! I'll bet most of that gain is just fluid from eating off plan foods. Hope right back on program and it will leave you soon and will probably take a pound or two of fat along for the ride. I'm glad you had a wonderful time, hope you made some magical memories.
LisaTx Lisa! I'm so proud of you. You are just tearing up that road to goal and you have the greatest positive attitude. Sounds like you have found the best plan for yourself. That's so important to getting healthy, finding the right program.
I'm so happy to hear that you are getting smaller as well as lighter! Keep this up and you will be at goal before you know it. How is Trey doing?
honeymo78 WOW! 2 more inches gone forever. That is excellent progress. You're 2 pounds lighter, too. Way to go! I hope you are feeling proud of yourself because I'm sure feeling proud of you!
welovedis Another 1.5 pounds gone forever. Isn't it funny how we stall when we don't eat enough, it just doesn't make sense to me but I've done the same thing. I'm glad the scale is moving in the right direction for you again. Have you measured yourself? Are you getting smaller too?
Good job this week. I'm proud of you.
ohiominnie WOO HOO! You are doing great and getting closer and closer to goal. Another 2 pounds gone forever. Great feeling, isn't it? You are a WISH success and I'm proud of you.

Don't forget to measure yourself. Sometimes we lose inches even when we don't lose pounds. I like seeing that I'm getting smaller, it's very motivating.
NCRedding Sounds like you have a couple of pounds of fluid that you are gaining and losing. Buckle down and get back on induction and you will get rid of that fluid and some fat too. You can do this, I know you can! Hang in there.

ead79 Good job, cutie! You're going to earn back that clippie very soon, I'm sure of it. I'm proud of you for hopping back on plan and staying so motivated.
You still have 49 days to drop a little more weight before the wedding. Buckle down!
Otto's Doll Maintaining is a good thing :) I'm impressed at your dedication to exercise, I wish it was contagious. I just have to force myself to do the WATP.
You're doing great and I'm proud of you!
maryliz You weren't able to exercise regularly and you still lost 1/2 pound? Way to go! I hope you are feeling much better now, sweetie. Colds are just miserable things to endure.
NancyK Welcome back, I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to WDW. Having fun and making wonderful memories is what it's all about. That gain is mostly fluid, it will leave you soon and take some fat with it, I bet.
Thanks for posting here this week. It's good to know that you are back on track and focused on goal.
Claire4dpins WOO HOO!! Look at you go! You're doing great. Losing 6 pounds in one week is really motivating, isn't it?
I'm so proud of you for doing the WATP everyday. I just started doing the one mile yesterday and my legs are sore but I didn't again this am anyway. You have motivated me to become a reformed exercise hater, too. Thank you!

rasnlms Are you going to change your eating plan? You are following the Weight Watcher's program, right? Why don't you try a different eating plan, it's important to find the plan that's right for you, in order to succeed.
Hang in there and don't give up, okay?
tlgoblue That mean old bloat fairy. He's always sneaking up on us when we aren't expecting it and zapping us with extra fluid.

trola2 If I did the math correctly it looks like you lost about 2 pounds a week this past month. That is excellent progress and success, good for you! Be proud of yourself, you are focused on goal and doing great and I'm sure proud of you!
Thanks for delurking and posting to the check in thread. Reading about your progress helps keep me motivated.
DaddyDon You lost a pound? I think that's great. I've gone 6 weeks without showing a loss at all, I would have been thrilled to lose a pound.
Tell me, have you measured yourself yet? I know I'm a nag about that but it is a fact that people who follow a low carbohydrate lifestyle often lose inches when they aren't losing pounds. That 6 weeks when I lost no weight, I lost 16 inches. That kept me motivated and determined. Have mum4jen measure you, okay?
Hang in there, step up the exercise and you will see the pounds dropping more quickly.

wdwnutze Losing 1 pound in one week is solid success, cutie. That is progress--that's success!
