Everyone wish me luck, tomorrow I spend the day drinking phosphate of soda and will lose everything I have eaten for the past 6 months.
Then Monday I have my first ever colonoscopy. It is so hard getting old, I don't like what they put our bodies through as we age.
I know already there will be some cutting, but the Dr said it is very routine. Not for me!
Hope I can swallow those two bottles of phosphate. I am not looking forward to that at all. Peggie

Sending lots of pixie dust to you. Not a fun day at all but for a very good cause. Prevention is very important.
Hope it all goes well and you can plan some pampering for the following day. Here's a group hug for you :grouphug:

I'm a nurse so I've given people that junk to drink lots of times. Lucky for me I never had to take any myself. It seems the slow and steady route is the best way to drink it. Good luck!!!

It won't be so bad, Peggie. I had a colonoscopy (fortunately with sedation) they gave me some lovely drugs and I slept through the biopsies and everything. I also slept most of the rest of the day. It wasn't bad at all.
Get the ginger flavored phosphate and mix it with a little sugar free 7 up, then just slam it back. It wasn't that nasty to me.
Don't worry about this, it will be over before you know it and just think, at least they don't make you have all of those enemas like they used too. {{{HUGS}}}, it's going to be alright, honest.

How did it go, Peggie? Was it as bad as you feared?

It's true, the prep was the worst part.
I slept through the colonoscopy, and the biopsies. They did find Diverticulitis but not inflammed. So since I know that I know what I need to avoid to prevent any flare-ups.
The Dr called today and the biopsies were all negative. Not even pre-cancerous, just growths.
I was off Tuesday and they called me from work and told me to take another day off and rest. I didn't need it but who am I to complain, I have 358 sick hours saved up so why not?
I feel fine, but I did kind of cheat on Tuesday. When I was drinking that Phosphate stuff I had such a craving for Mexican. Don't ask me how I put those two together, but I just had to eat Mexican. We went to a new place that just opened and it was TERRIBLE! The refried beans were campbells pork and beans smashed up. And not even hot, they just put a lump of cheese on top to decorate it. I had a chicken and beef enchiladas which were like something you would get from Mc'Donalds. No flavor at all. I also had a Strawberry Margarita that was not too bad but not as good as the ones at the Mexico pavillion.
All in all, a big waste of a cheat. I deserved better for what I went through the day before.
Thanks everyone for the encouragement.
Oh, by the way, I drank the stuff, and got on the scale the next day before I left for the hospital and GAINED 2 lbs. How could that happen? The only thing I can think of is that I hadn't taken my Blood Pressure medication and water pill and that salty stuff made me retain. I haven't gotten on the scale since because I cheated yesterday. Maybe tomorrow. Peggie

See? I told you it wasn't so bad.
That tiny gain has to be fluid retention, you couldn't have eaten enough at one meal to gain two pounds of fat.
Aren't you glad that this is all over and you can stop worrying about it?
