Anyone is going on the 4-day Diney Wonder on March 14, 2004?

mkandk
10-24-2003, 12:45 AM
We are!! I've been checking in off and on to see if anyone had started a thread...Almost missed it!

There will be 4 of us. Me, DH, DS 9, and DD 8.

Little Twin Stars
10-24-2003, 08:59 AM
Hi mkandk,

So far I have not heard many people going on this cruise and have started worrying that it would be a booked by a big group of people.

So, which category have you booked?

lstokes
10-25-2003, 06:57 PM
We will also be on this cruise! Family of five consisting of:
Me, DH, DS-17, DS-13 and DD-4.
We are first staying at the RP in Universal for 5 days at CLub level.
Then Cruise-3 day. Finally Hawthorn Suites at orlando for 2 more days.
Last big vacation as family before DS-17's senior year of High school and then college.
We have sailed 2x's on RCCL. THis is the 1st on Disney.

mkandk
10-25-2003, 09:27 PM
We'll be in a category 6. I also know some neighbors who are on the same cruise, so if it does get chartered by a big group, we could always make our own little group.

I'm tickled to pieces about this cruise, and haven't told our kids yet. (So I'm about to burst).

Little Twin Stars
10-25-2003, 10:24 PM
I'm not sure if I have made a big mistake: we, together with 2 more families of 4, told our kids. We even watched the Disney Cruise video together and they were VERY excited.

But since there is still a long way to go and they kept asking when March will come, I somehow regreted telling them too early.

lstokes: are you going on the 4-day cruise (Magic) or the 5-day cruise (Wonder)?

sk8ingmom
11-01-2003, 11:04 AM
We'll be there! Myself, DH, DSs 5 & 3. The kids don't know yet - thinking about telling them at Christmas, but that still might be too soon.

This will be the first cruise ever for myself & the kids. DH cruised as a teenager & he's in the Coast Guard, so he has spent quite a bit of time on less luxurious ships!

We are going too and can't wait. Telling kids at Christmas.
5 of us, myself, DH, DD 16 (HS junior), DD 13 (grade 8), DS 10 (grade 5). 2 cabins on deck 2 one outside for us and one inside across the hall for the kids. Booked late, just this week due to a recent change in vacation plans and could only get cabins close by on this deck. First time cruising, but many trips to WDW. See you on board.

mkandk
11-15-2003, 01:28 AM
Wow.

We booked through All Seasons, and the price is up $900 from what we reserved. So I guess the ship is filling up!

mkandk
12-01-2003, 06:35 PM
For those of you who are doing the land and sea (like we are)...it's only 100 days away!!!!

:Pinkbounc :bounce: :earseek:

Still haven't told the kids yet, although I've talked Disney enough that I'm surprised they aren't suspicious.

Thanks to Debbie I finally found this thread...

I am so excited about this trip..but we are not telling ds yet......I can just imagine if we did ...are we leaving ? when? how many more days? :):)

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary last year on the Magic..and this year we are attempting the Land and Sea during our son's March break....

So it's myself, Vivian and DH, and our ds6....

This trip can't come soon enough...

Happy holidays to everyone:wave2:

We'll be joining you on the Wonder fir Spring Break. We booked so long ago that my kids are going crazy with anticipation. Maybe I should have waited to tell them.

We have a DS 10 and DD 8. Perhaps we could get together, my kids would love it. Feel free to contact me!

We'll be there too! Me, DH, DS (8) and DD (5). We are also cruising with our neighbors. They have DS (8), DS (7) and DD (4). I think there will be plenty of families on this cruise.

See you there! :earsgirl: :earsboy: pirate: princess:

YAY! Little kids. The average age (forkids at least, we won't discuss parents!) seems to be 8-11.

Glad to hear about families with 4-5 year olds. My guys are 5 and almost 4. They don't know about the trip yet, but spend a lot of their time playing pirates, so it should be very exciting!

Little Twin Stars
01-11-2004, 12:15 PM
We, together with 2 other families of four, have just paid the balance.

We are now looking forward to receiving the documents although I have no idea what they will consist of.

What about you guys?

It is so true.
I even paid before the due day. This is not me because I usually wait until the last day. But for the cruise, I really can't wait.

I have just paid also AccessAmerica for the trip insurance.

Anyone received the documents yet?

Vivig
01-17-2004, 12:23 AM
No not yet:(:(

Made final payment on January 5, 2004.....and anxiously awaiting the documents.

I too would be interested when the rest of the Dis'ers begin receiving their docs....

sk8ingmom
01-17-2004, 08:52 AM
I'm new to this whole cruise thing, but I was under the impression that docs don't arrive until 2-3 weeks before departure.

No docs to fill out, so I've been playing with my new luggage!!!

We can book shore excursions now (60 days out). Has anyone done this?? We plan to at least go over to Atlantis in Nassau, but we are debating whether or not we will do a tour or just take a cab over & walk around. Our excursion options are limited since our kids are 3 & 5.

What do you guys have planned ?

Vivig
01-17-2004, 10:18 AM
We are thinking of booking a room at Comfort Suite across from Atlantis...so that we may be able to use the full facilities....We should be firming that decision up by the end of next week. Or, our other choice would also be taking a taxi to Atlantis to see the premises and to see their aquirium.

And if none work out then we will be staying on board..and enjoying the ship:)

Little Twin Stars
01-17-2004, 03:00 PM
We would very likely just get down for a few minutes at nassau and then go back to the Shp;

OR

we may take a taxi to the Cable Beach.

The Atlantis excursion seems very tempting but the cost seems to be too high for us: would rather save money to visit one theme park after the cruise. We are returning to Toronto the next day after we disbark.

Really anxious to find out the stateroom assignment.

We have also requested for the APTA rotation. What about you guys?

Vivig
01-17-2004, 03:40 PM
We have made no requests in regards to dining as yet...however will probably have the late seating, since it worked out fine for us on the Magic last year.

We are leaving for Toronto on the 18th..but late at night, however will be doing the 'parks' from the 10th to embarkation. I can't wait:):)

Cable beach sounds like a very good option as well for Nassau..I am going to be researching both options much further this week.:smooth:

Hoping for our docs sometime soon:):)

sk8ingmom
01-17-2004, 06:02 PM
I was considering getting a room at Comfort Suites to use the waterslides - DSs would love it! But them I realized that I would have to pay the $200 for the room even if the weather was lousy. I guess I'm too cheap to take the chance!!

We have the late dinner seating. I didn't know you could request a rotation. How did you do it? The night we try to reserve Palo depends a lot on the rotation. Of course I'm going to try to get a Palo reservation on the last night so we can 'experience' all the dining rooms, but I'm sure the last night reservations go pretty fast.

Little Twin Stars
01-17-2004, 08:01 PM
Vivig : Hey, I also live in Toronto. When are you leaving Toronto for Orlando? Do you have kids? Coz I find late seating is almost impossible for our kids: 5 and 7. They usually go to bed at 8:00 pm.

sk8ingmom: I asked my TA to put thru my request for the dining rotation and for a large table for 12. I was given late dining seating but hope that we can get it changed to early seating.

queenvic: My kids' age is close to yours. Believe they will meet in the club. Did you order cabin side by side with your neighbour's family?

jujusmom: how old are your kids?

mkandk: Are you also first time cruise like us?

debaudrn: did you buy any insurance? How's preparation?

istokes: hello to you. Can you beleive that I have already started packing :) Really can't wait!

parrothead365: learnt that it would be your 2nd cruise. When was your first one?

txmomof3: how old are your 3 kids?

We reserved 3 category 11 cabins with 2 other families whose kids are the same age as ours. What about you guys?

Look forward to knowing you more and meeting you face to face on the SHIP!

HI there,

Yes, we have a son who will be 6 1/2 years old when we cruise. We will be leaving on March 10, 2004 and staying at POR. We are doing the land and sea package this time around.

All I dream about is this trip..( And winning the Super 7:))!!!

BTW, we purchased insurance for the trip with RBC insurance.

Late seating is fine for our son, he is in bed by 8:00 pm during the school year...however he managed the late seating last year without a problem.

We should organize a DIS meet onboard...unfortunately we did not attend last year's...we got too busy and the time passed us right by.

Talk to you all soon:)

Hi everyone!
We are looking forward to meeting you all! We requested our excursions but haven't heard anything back yet. We asked for the Stingray City/Blue Laggon Beach day at Nassau and we are splurging at CC for the parasailing and then Getaway pkg. DS is 10 and 88 lbs. He needs to gain 2 lbs for the parasailing! DD turns 8 next month and will not be able to do parasailing this trip.

Our stateroom # is 6058. I really wanted the verandah. Living in West Texas I want to see the water! :boat:

We just booked this cruise for our family of five, deck 2 connecting rooms. DS7, DS10, DS12. We're a little concerned because the 2 older will be together in kids clubs leaving the youngest separate. Anyone else in this situation? We booked a room at Comfort Suites for Atlantis water slides. DSs saw pictures on the web site and really want to do it. DH will have to set this out unless we can take turns because we don't want to pay for another room in order to have 5 wrist bands. Is anyone getting a room with less than 4 in your party? If you are we would be happy to reimburse you for 1/4 of the room in order to have the 4th wrist band if that's possible. If anyone is interested contact me to work out details. Hope to see some of you on the cruise.

I asked because I thought it is organized on every cruise at a designated time, and that all we have to do is to go there and meet.

That will be great if it is. :)

Yes, we are.:wave2: This will be our 3rd trip to DisneyWorld, and I've been on these boards since the first trip, and have been wanting to cruise ALL this time, finally doing it.

I have a 9yo boy and an 8 yo girl...it's cool that all of these kids are pretty close in age! Mine are a little shy, so I hope they still have fun.

Whoever mentioned getting a room at Nassau but was worried about the weather, I have the OPPOSITE worry. I was going to hold out for the beach until we get to Castaway Cay, but if the weather's bad and we miss it, I WILL be bummed. We are bringing snorkeling gear and I want to use it.:teeth: So I'm thinking about booking the Blue Lagoon thing, and if we have time, just browsing Atlantis afterwards.

Hi parrothead365

When you went on the cruise last March, how was the weather? Was the water cold?

parrothead365
02-08-2004, 08:46 AM
The weather was great. It was warm to hot. we were very comfortable in shorts. The water at Castaway was warm also, we floated around in it for awhile. The only bumpy seas we had were going through the Gulf stream and that was not bad at all.

Hey mkandk, we started packing a few weeks ago. We laid our suitcases on the loft area and put something in every day.

However, one day when I tried to add some more stuff in, I found that one suitcase was full of some toys that my kids tried to hide them in!

They, like their mom, can't wait too!

Have you got your docs yet?

debaudrn

I haven't started packing yet. DH thinks I'm nuts enough just being on these boards so much. He may have me commited if I pulled out a suitcase just yet! If I'm on the boards and call any of the 3 kids they say "Oh Mom now what... don't you know everything there is to know about the cruise yet?" We watched the Magic and the Wonder sail from Cape Canaveral last weekend!!!

Yes, there are webcams at Cape Canaveral and Two Palms. You see the ships in port and pulling out at CC and cruising by Two Palms. Not live action though. It is an image updated every six seconds or so. If you blink you can miss it at Two Palms! Here is a link to FL webcams. If you scroll down to the Space Coast ones they are both there. You can then click on each one for a bigger picture.
Have fun. The Magic pulls out at about 5 on Sat. and the Wonder about 5 on Sunday. Have fun.

DSs found out this week! I requested post cards from the thread on this board (Verandah man is so cool!) The received cards from Micket & Captain Hook. Now we are all excited together!!

I also bought 7 days worth of little gifts for them to open the week leading up to the cruise. T-shirts, polos, Micket lollypops (dollar store!), stickers, Disney dollars etc. (all very much on sale!)

So now we have a countdown. Days until the cruise: all of Nate's fingers, all of Drew's fingers, 3 of Mom's fingers and 3 of Dad's fingers. They are 3 & 5 years old so this makes sense to them!

BTW - DS3 LOVES the bouncy guys when I come to this thread!

Hello to you all,

I would like to know if any of you are interested in a DIS meet?

Last year when we went on our first cruise, we unfortunately did not make the meet. (Combination of attending an activity as well as a bit if shyness..I am being honest with you all.)

Thinking back, I wish I had attended....It is always great meeting new people..especially ones you communicate with on-line.

So....I am volunteering..if anyone is interested then I will organize a meet onboard. We can all get together say..hello/bonjour..and then enjoy our cruise with a few new found friends that we can wave to each other in the hallways:):)

If you are not interested, that is fine as well..this by no means is to place pressure on any of you. Just a suggestion..since many of our fellow cruisers seem to enjoy meeting each other on the cruise.

I threw it out..let me know what your thoughts are:)

Have a gr8 week everyone...and imagine every day brings us that much closer to our holidays.

Vivig - DisMeet sounds like a good idea to me!

Tross & Vivig - The age gap is getting a bit big, but I'm pretty sure the 5-7 y-o's are in the same group. I have a 5 1/2 y-o DS. Our only kid-neighbors are 7-8, so he's used to hangin' with the big guys!

I'm not sure who's more excited, me or the kids!

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to know how meeting on the day we board March 14, 2004 @ 3pm sounds to you all? I verified past navigators and it seems the mandatory drill is at 4 pm..that can give us time to say 'hello' and meet each other and be at our drill boat stations in plenty of time.

We can meet at the Promenade lounge which is on the main floor. I will try to get the exact place to let you all know where it is located.

Let me know how this sounds? If you prefer we can think of another time and place....

Looking forward to meeting you all:):)

Hi Vivian,

3:00 pm sounds great to me.

We are planning to board the Ship at noon. Then we will have lunch at Parrot Cay while one of our big group members will go to make the Palo reservation. After that we will let the kids spend some time at the Mickey Pool.

I think by the time they finish swimming and have a shower, it's around 3:00 and I will be available to meet you guys face to face :)

3pm is fine with us also but I am wondering if it gives us as much time as we think because my docs say embarkation time 1pm.

Like Little Twin Stars I thought we could board at 12pm. For those who have cruised before is this normal to allow boarding before the official time or am I just confused? Does everyone else's docs read the same? When we cruised last year, we had gone to the terminal really early to check in and we were onboard by 12:30 - !:00 pm. It gave us enought ime to have lunch, allow our son to swim in the pool and then get to go to our stateroom and settle in and be prepared for the Drill. I try to at my old navigator as well as the ones I find on-line to see if there is another convenient time..I will keep you all posted.

I will bring along a large Green Mickey Shaped Poster board to point out who we are....Any other suggestions would be great!! I know some groups would wear green Mickey shaped pins...Maybe having one large one will point out the location...open to all suggestions :):)

Sounds good to me! Thanks for organizing, Vivig. I think some of us may run into each other before then. We also planned on boarding ASAP, getting Palo and spa ressies, lunch & a swim before the drill. I think we've all read the same hints on these boards! Here is what we look like

See if I can recognise you.

We may bump into each other while rushing for Palo reservation, fighting to be the 1st in line to board... (just kidding).

Just received our documents this afternoon for March 14th Wonder. It's great to finally have some info on the cruise. I have two daughters looking for friends on the cruise. AV 15 and AF 9.

Sounds good to me I will try to convince my DW to go. We tend to stay to ourselves, but I think meeting fellow disney nuts is a great idea. I will try to make the meet. I will tell DS 11 that there will be several other kids around his age coming. If they want to PM him he goes by lilparrothead on these boards. Anybody else going to spend time at the world before or after the cruise?:smooth:

We are...
Fly in Fri. evening, staying at POR & going to the parks Sat. Then when we return we are staying at CBR & going to the parks Thurs-Fri-Sat before flying home Sat. evening.

Parrothead365 - I hope you make it to the Dis meet. We are looking forward to meeting fellow Parrotheads. We're big fans - the first dance at our wedding reception was a Buffett song (Survive - it fit because he is in the military). Can't wait for those boat drinks!

Little Twin Stars - I'm glad you like my site. Got Docs??

My DH thinks I spend way too much time here (I guess he has a point). He thinks he and the kids should wear "sk8ingmom DH" & "sk8ingmom DS" name tags around the ship!

I have been waiting to receive the recent 5-day Wonder Navitgators and those forthe kids (5-7) from my e mail.

But now they have that uploaded:

Sk8ingmom, your pictures look wonderful!!!

Little Twin Stars, Thanks for the Navigators. From the navigators it appears that we will have enough time to do lots prior to our meet.

We will be arriving on March 10, 2004 and staying at POR.

Unfortunately our docs have not arrived as yet...this is a slow torture to know others have received their docs and here we are still waiting.

Can't wait to meet you all,
Vivian

We got our documents around 2/20. We are doing the land/sea, so maybe they sent them out a little earlier than those who just booked the cruise?

We told the kids on Valentine's weekend, with a little game leading up to the big news. My daughter (8) is SO excited about DisneyWorld, but the cruise is no big deal.;)

Now I really need to find those Birth Certificates...seems I misplaced them. :earseek:

I have 3 kids going on the cruise. One DS age 10, 2 DD's ages 14 and 16. We are going to try to get to the meet at 3 on board. Maybe the girls could meet there. They will also check out the teen club that afternoon. See you all soon. How many more days?

BTW-the kitchen cabinets are being installed today and I am in a real mess here. Wonder take me away....please.

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to warn you all that I am ..how can I say this nicely..'Pooh' sized. I believe that was part of the reason why I backed out of the dismeet last cruise:)

So..I wanted to warn you all...trying to lose the weight..but many factors played role into how I became like this...so there ..I have come clean, and will not surprise any of you.

I hope you will all still want to meet.

Have a wonderful week..so little time so much to do .....:)

I am still waiting for my docs!

So, if you don't see me at 3:00, that means I am still back in Canada...

Anyway, would anyone of you stay in MCO Hyatt and would know if we can really leave the luggage for Hyatt to take it to the terminal even we don't have the DCL transfer plan?

Vivig
03-01-2004, 07:53 PM
Sk8*** Mom Thanks for your kind words:)

Little Twin Stars..I hope you have received word of your docs? I have read in previous posts about individuals leaving their bags to be transported from Hyatt and having them not arrive or arriving very late..my suggestion would be for you to post your question on the main boards. I am sure someone there will be able to provide some feedback. My recollection was that the experiences were not positive ones.

Look at our countdown clocks...I have soooo much deliverables at work prior to even thinking of packing and getting ready...I have a plan and hopefully can carry it out. Sometimes I question is it worth the effort to stress over getting ready to leave and then stress when you return to catch up....then I think of WDW and DCL and the answer is a definite YES!!!

Woke up to snow this morning! I just laid in bed thinking "4 more days, 4 more days"

I washed and packed all our summer clothes this weekend. To just add to the stress, we are in the process of selling our house SO on top or packing Thurs. night, I'll be cleaning the house since the realtor is having an open house while we are gone.

Friday morning we will all be out of the house by 7:30am, DH & DS will go to work/school for 1/2 day, I have to teach 2 classes, then we are meeting at the airport. I am already dreading our hectic Fri. morning! However, we should be at Downtown Disney by 7:30pm!!!

I was checking room availablity about two weeks ago on line and what I discovered is when I indicated we had children there was no room availability and when I indicated 2 adults only there was room availability. That to me means that they are probably at their limit for children on board. My suggestion for you all is to ensure you check the kids into the kids club as soon as you can. I know they say that they guarantee that there is space for all the children on board...however I have also heard that they run out of pagers at times.

Just my 2 cents for you all.

I cannot believe we have kept the secret from our son ....we are going to pick him up from school during lunch on Wednesday and leave immediately for the airport. Now some of you may say so what's the big deal...well as any of my friends will tell you I am not good at keeping secrets nor lying..I am an open book....whew two more days:)

Have a safe trip to the ship everyone:):) See you on Sunday:wave:

I was up there on deck 10 with my bubbles and my Bahama Mama and on Castaway Cay 3 Konk Koolers! (Over the entire afternoon). I can still taste them. The good thing is that DH is talking about another cruise. We loved it and 4 days was just right for us. Lots of quiet and down time for the sun and a good book. My DS's favorite memory is of playing and winning "Walk The Plank" with me. He took photos and his medal to school last Monday to show his class. Hope to meet you all again some day on board the Wonder or the Magic! Thanks Andy for the picture of the Wonder on the 14th!
