I've regressed! Can someone answer this banking/borrowing question please?

LOL! I swear I used to know this but suddenly I'm not so sure.... ;) ;)

Here's a hypothetical scenario:

I own 200 points with a Dec. use year. I've banked this years so come Dec I'll have 400 pts.

If I make a reservation for early next year I would verify that MS uses my banked points first. However, let's say I make a last minute reservation this Fall. I'd need to borrow. But can I make the reservation using the points I banked? I'm thinking the answer is no, that once points are banked they stay banked. I can, however, borrow next years points. The kicker being that those points I banked will still expire at the end of next year, right?

However, if you do make a reservation for this fall with borrowed points and then have to cancel, the borrowed points will expire Dec 1, 2001. :confused:

LOL - I won't cancel. Actually I can't since it's a hypothetical situation. ;) ;)

I had just read a question/response about banking & borrowing and when I went to clarify I realized I had confused myself entirely and didn't even know which end was up. Looks like I talked myself through it pretty well. :D
