I can get a list of everyone that wants to do this. Just PM me your full names since that is probably what they will want. Since I am going to send them a list of people, they might want some money upfront. We'll see......

What can I contribute? With all this talk about people bringing lanyards, magnets, glo bracelets, foam balls, etc., I would also like to bring something for the group. Any suggestions on what is needed or would be useful? My only requirement is that it would be physically on the small side since we are flying in and have to deal with the luggage constraints.

Welcome, ciadriamom! The more the merrier!

Glad everything is well with your car, Arlene!

Good Morning....thanks goodness for days off...sleeping in and coffee, the good things in life!

So, I came across this web site about Coral World, which is located off Coki Beach. It may be of interest to some who are planning on visiting Coki Beach for the day.

http://www.coralworldvi.com/launch.htm

It looks pretty interesting, kids may love it!

Day pass can be confirmed with me. Closer to the date kindly give me a reminder so that I ca inform the necessary persons before you arrive. Yes you will have full access to the beach. Upon arrival you will pay $70.00 for both of you, the baby will get a comp on the house.

I will be looking forward to hearing from you. You can respond directly to my email address (MAlfred@ANTIGUA.AllegroResorts.com).

So it looks like we can wait a little while to do this or we can get a list of people that want to do this and make one ressie. Any thoughts?

Hi Renee'...

My thoughts are...

Let's go with one list and make a group reservation. Do you want to take over this activity ???

We are trying to get enough people to confirm, and we will have a private bus and tour, I will send an update this weekend. We only need 7 people, ( I think) to join and we have the 20 minimum we need.

Renee',
congrats on winning post #2000

I have a preposition to make:

What about an Activity List containing the following features (So far)?
-Pre-Cruz-Activities
-Grills (Bette & Kim)
-Radisson-Pool-Party
-RonJon-Pool-Party

-Sea-Day-activities
-Morning Walk or Jog
-Going to a show together
-Rocking the house in the Disco
-Bingo
-Karaoke

-Shore-Activities
-Antigua
-Eco-Tour (Jill)
-Resort-Day (Renee')

-St Thomas
-CokiBeach Dive & Snorkel Adventure (Eric)
-Private Bus Tour (Bette & Kim)

I put names behind some of the activities, these people would be in charge of setting up the respective activity, answering questions, etc.
I would create this List containing all the abovementioned activities and everything else the group will come up with, the names of the respective "leaders" and their e-mail-adresses.
Concentrating this on some key-people and doing the planning via email instead of the thread will facilitate everything, and will also make it easier to participate for those of us who do not have the possibilty or time to follow the thread as actively like us 'Hardcore-Posters' ;)

What do you think about it? Give me your feedback via the thread or our mail-account, and if it is an 'Aye', tell me the Activity you will be 'responsible' for and the e-mail-adress you will use for it.

A: You & DH ;)

BTW, here's what we will bring: Miniature bottles of Schnapps, probably 40 to 50. I have to check the US Customs Regulations on how much booze we will be allowed to bring for the exact number. Last time we had 20 and Jeff & Gaby brought another 20.
I know what you mean, Jeanne: Getting all this stuff in via plane is a chore, but fortunately transatlantic flights allow 64 Kilogramms per person (~140lbs). The only problem is that we'll have to carry this stuff with us for three weeks before the cruise.

BTW, we have to cross the state borders of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina transporting booze. Could that be a problem? I know that you have a lot of (At least for us Europeans;)) very weird laws concerning alcohol, especially when it comes to crossing state borders. I don't want to get into trouble with Jill & Tim's colleagues :jester:

Speaking of car-trouble: Yesterday a nice old lady informed me that one of my headlights was 'blind'. So after work I went to a shop got a new bulb, and while waiting for Anja at the tram-station I replaced it. The engine-compartment of our convertible is kind of cramped as it is based on a small compact with a 1.1 litre-engine/55hp as a base-motor. In our car there is a 2.0 litre/136hp, and then all the stuff like power-steering-pump, ABS-hardware, A/C-compressor, an extra-large-battery due to the electrically driven retractable hardtop, etc. I needed 20 minutes, nearly twisted fingers, got some bruises, but in the end I had it fixed - and wished all French engineers to hell. But when I told this a friend at the gym, he just said I could call myself lucky: In his Volkswagen Golf you have to remove the complete headlight to change the bulbs and have it readjusted afterwards, which can only be done in the shop. €100 for replacing a €3-part

We almost always send a box or two ahead to whatever hotel ahead of time. That way we avoid carring a lot of "STUFF" while traveling...If you call ahead and let them know how many packages you are sending the hotel folks are great about holding things....

Eric to change the headlight bulb in the Volkswagen Beetle you have to take it back to the shop. Vue is still in shop as the part did not come in. I told my service consulate that she could just give me one of the new ION red line cars when the come in. 2 Liter-200 hp 5 speed supercharged inter-cooler.

Is it October yet??

Arlene down here we don't get a butterscotch just peppermint mints from the service department.

Coral world was nice. I still haven't ridden the cable cars to the top of the hill by the docks yet. Mike

Kim and Renee, Sorry for the mix up.:o Still torn between the day at the resort and the Eco-Tour. I guess it's time for a family meeting.
But we are definatly doing the Coki Beach snorkle/dive in St Thomas.
Eric, Love the activities list idea. As I have said before I am interested in planning a brunch or lunch on one of our days at sea. It would be at either Parrot Cay or Lumiers. ::yes::
I have driven my car from FL to SC with alcohol in the car. Never had a problem. As long as you are not trying to sell it, it should be OK. I don't think there would be much profit in flying over from Germany in order to sell 40 oz. of Schnapps.:jester:
Hope everyone is back behind the wheel now. Hate it when my car is broke.
I'm taking tomorrow off! Well, I will go in for an hour or so, but I will not have to be there early. Sleep-in.::MinnieMo

I used to work for American Airlines. We flew free but were restricted on the amount of luggage we could carry with us (carry on only). We shipped excess luggage via FedEx or UPS to the hotel at our destination in advance. It was much more reliable and hassle free...It's an option...

Hi Eric, Kim here...

I hava a suggestion, since we are putting more info into groups how about dining table groups. This might help some of the newer cruisers to our group "break" the ice ...

1) Those that have established a group table for dinner can list who is at that table, if they have a table name and are they early or late dinner.

2) Diser's who have not joined a dinner table can start a list for early dinner, and for late diner and people can see who is looking for dinner companions and then they can form their own table (s).

Our dinner table guests ( early seating) are:

Bette & Kim ( bettemom)
Renee, Lenny & Haley ( Piglet33)
Fiona & Jim ( cdnmickeylover)
Chris & Denise ( FridayFun)
Jeanne & Sam ( JeannieC)

Hi everyone,

Yes the Saturn Vue is still in the shop. (sigh) We do miss him. We call him Big Red. We were talking about the Lemon Law here and when I called the complaint line at Saturn I told them that I did not have a problem with the dealership or their service department but the Saturn has been in the shop at least 8 times for the same reason. Then Mike gets on the phone and was very nice to them and they gave us another car to drive. I hope we aren't renting it. I haven't even been in it because I have been working at the hospital and driving the Beetle back and forth.

Poor Eric, I can understand what you went through with the 'blind' headlight. Unfortunately it takes quite a bit of money to get our 'fiddidles' (Teenage term :hyper: ) fixed on the Volkswagen. Mike worked for a while to fix one of our bad headlights and we found out that if he had kept on he might have really done some damage to something in the headlamp and it would have been a lot more money.

A big HELLO to all the newbies. Welcome. We look forward to meeting you.

Take care everyone. Kathy with a K, DW of Papa

Our party has already been linked together through DCL and consists of the following:
Mary Jo, Sam and Sarah (Sarahsmom)
Arlene and Andy (ARL01)
Nancy and Norm (padisneyfan)
Jeanne and John (jeanneg)
Since I had some difficulty getting feedback from everyone to come up with a name, I am officially calling our group "HIFO".....It's an anagram of our last initials and sounds like an accounting term. If anyone asks, we can always say it stands for "Hungry In/Full Out" which should be very appropriate for the cruise.

Hi Everyone, Haven't posted in a couple of days. Was downtown Toronto at a seminar -- one word -- boring. The best speaker was the tax lawyer so this will give you an idea of just how unexciting it was. The binder of materials was huge so goes on my "if I have time I'll read" list.

Took DS to the doctor and then we went for xrays as the doctor feels there's a 50/50 chance he has a broken bone in his ankle. We should find out today. In the meantime he's just walking on it and not using crutches. If it is broken he'll get an air cast rather than a regular cast because of the time that's passed.

Not sure yet what excursions we are doing. Jim thinks it's way too early to decide but I'll talk to him about everything.

Must get to work as my desk is piled up since I was away for 2 days.

List #13 is in your mail-boxes - Check it out.

Fiona,
we keep our fingers crossed for your DS ::yes::

Kathy,
our next car will definitely have xenon-lights, those blueish, very bright high-voltage lights, which will last a car's lifetime. Only bad side-effect: They're usually a $1000+ option. Talking about money and cars: Gas is up to €1.15/litre now over here (95 octane, 100 octane is as high as €1.25, diesel is €.90) , which compares to roughly $5-6 per gallon.
This may be a solution: :space: , or perhaps this : :drinking1
Hint: Check out the new smileys:rockband:

Thanks for the new list Eric.

Just tried to call about DS but they don't have the report back yet. I'm to call after 5pm. Hopefully it's good news.

Cars -- I drive a Montana and have no clue as to how to change the lights. Can't even see the headlights inside to change them.

:(

Used to be able to change the lights myself on other cars but not this one.

Back to work. Had my desk cleared 2 days ago but it's swamped now.

On our thread for the cruise 09/22/01 I mentioned that the cruise departs at the same day Oktoberfest in Munich opens. With my wife and me being German and having a lot of Americans with German roots in the group, one of us came up with the name Cruisetoberfest. It was a big success and now we're doing the third one.
BTW, Oktoberfest in Munich always starts in September.

Mary,
a NASCAR-race sounds coooool. Didn't they change the name from Winston-Cup to NexTel? Ove here racing became kind of predictable: Ferrari and M. Schumacher are dominating the Formula One and win as often as they want. Just today Schumi won the 4th race in a row. Although I'm a fan of him, this makes the races boring.

Last night we went on the NY Waterway Ferry and watched the QEII and QMII leave port and go on their way. What a beautiful sight to see especially when the two ships were in front of the Statue of Liberty and fireworks were set off. I didn't realize the QMII is so much larger than the QEII. I would really love to see the Magic or Wonder next to the QMII. Now that would be an awesome sight to see.

All in all we were on the ferry for almost 3 hours and got home pretty late. I think I'll be having several more cups of coffee than usual.

I wouldn't want to see 'our' ships in front of them: They would lose some of their grandeur, because they're comparatively small. OK, it's only 50 meters and two decks, but you would see it.

Well, the countdown to our trip to OKW with DS, DD & DGS is only five days away. I am so anxious to see Gavin's reaction to the World now that he is almost 5. Amazingly, he still has memories of the attractions that he went on two years ago when he was only 3. Inisists that he will never, ever go on POC again because it is "scary". But he does want to go to the Haunted Mansion?? Told him he could go on "Goofy's Barnstormer" and he said "I might throw up". This poor child has no idea how indoctrinated he will be to Disney by the time he grows up. We are training him well to carry on the family tradition!

Hi Guys, Kim here...

Wirh all the newbies that have joined our grioup of merry sailors perhaps some more people might like to join a group of us on a tour, we need to have 20 people minimum to have the tour be private... If you would like to join the tour let us know... We only need 7 more cruisers...

Bye, Kim

Hi Guys, A few weeks ago I posted about a group tour while in St. Thomas. If we have 20 people minimum and up to 25 maximum we can rent our own jeep safari open tour vehicle and driver for the day. The cost comes out to a reasonable $ 20.00 each person plus a tip for the driver. All other expenses are our responsibility, lunch, shopping & so on…

Right now here is the list of who is confirmed to go on the tour.

Join the group we only need 7 more souls to join us for a day of fun… E-mail me, or post here if interested and I will add you to the list. Once we have 20 people confirmed we can finalize the reservation in St. Thomas.

1) Bette
2) Kim
3) Renee’ & Haley
4) Lenny
5) Mary Jo
6) Sara
7) Sam
8) Arlene
9) Andy
10 Jen
11 Peter
12 Jeanne C
13 Sam C

The general consensus is that we would like to tour for the morning, go somewhere “quaint” where we can have lunch, a little swim and a little unique shopping, then end the day will high test shopping at the center of town in the marketplace. Anyone who wanted to opt out of shopping can be brought back to the ship and perhaps we can schedule 2 pickups in town for those shopping veterans and those who are shopping lightweights.

Here you go Jeanne...

The Rumor Mill

Rumors have been circulating for months that the Disney Magic will be based out of California on a 'test' basis starting in May 2005 through late August 2005. The rumor is that 7 night sailings will begin on May 28th 2005 out of Long Beach, CA, and that the itinerary will include certain stops in Mexico. While not yet confirmed, we've heard Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas as among the ports of call. The rumors we’ve heard is that the 7 day cruises will begin on May 28th and run through August 20th (meaning there will only be 12 cruises). If history is any indication, any time Disney does a 'special' itinerary, they tend to sell out fairly quickly.

The rumor also speculates that there will be two 14 day "transition" cruises, where the ship first travels to Long Beach from Florida, then again when it comes home to Port Canaveral (transition cruises are necessary in order to move the ship from one coast to the next). The rumor is that those itineraries will include Castaway Cay (of course) as well as several Mexican destinations that will not appear on the 7 night cruises (including Acapulco and Curacao. What we've heard (which we've found hard to believe, but we'll see) is that the 14 day transition cruises will be very well priced. For example, a Cat 6 on a 14 day cruise will run about $2400 per person, and Cat 11's will run about $1200 per person. For a 14 day sailing, that's great. We’ve also heard that there will be a limited number of staterooms offered on the transition cruises (again, this is rumor, but more than one person told us that they do not intend to sell out the entire ship on the transition cruise. This makes absolutely no sense to me, but that’s not unusual either : ). Of course, since it's a 'transition' cruise it is only "one way" and you'll have to make arrangements to fly back from California rather than Orlando (or vice versa depending on which transition cruise you choose). However, with air fares on many carriers being so good right now, that should not be too much of an issue.

Of course all of this is speculative until Disney confirms this, which we anticipate will happen during the Disneyland Press Event on May 4th & 5th, we won't know for sure. However, our confidence is fairly high that this information is accurate. We’ve heard this information from more than one source and over a period of the last several weeks.

Rumors on pricing have been sketchy, but we understand that the prices will be higher than what is currently charged on the East Coast cruises. For example, we heard from one CM that Category 12 staterooms will run between $1200 and $1600 per person (adult). We've heard that Category 5 staterooms will run between $2000 and $2700 per person and Category 6 staterooms will run between $1800 and $2600.

We think that this 'test' will be part of an overall plan to add a ship out of California on regular basis, but if that happens, it will be a few YEARS before a ship is ready. If you think you might be interested in doing a California Cruise, we suggest you fill out a special request form on the Dreams Unlimited Travel site (CLICK HERE). This will not be a guarantee of a stateroom or price, but it will get your request in as soon as they are released. Remember, the more full the ship gets the higher the price will go. If you want the lowest tier pricing available, you have to be among the first to book. Be sure to include the date you would like to sail. Since we are not sure of the exact dates, our agents will price out the date closest to what you requested. As I said, we expect the 7 night sailings to start on May 28th, which would mean the following sail dates:

May 28, 2005
June 4, 2005
June 11, 2005
June 18, 2005
June 25, 2005
July 2, 2005
July 9, 2005
July 16, 2005
July 23, 2005
July 30, 2005
Aug 6, 2005
Aug 13, 2005
Transition sailings are rumored to happen on May 14th – May 28th (from Port Canaveral to Long Beach, CA) and Aug 20th – Sept 3rd (from Long Beach, CA to Port Canaveral, FL). Keep in mind that if you book a transition cruise, they are, in effect "one way", meaning you will have to fly in to Orlando and out of Los Angeles (or vice versa).

The pricing that we’ve heard is substantially higher than the Caribbean cruises, and we feel this is due (in part) to the fact that these are unique cruises and Disney has been very successful with specialty cruises (as I said, they book out quickly, and usually do well). If the cruises do not sell well (which I’m doubting), they will adjust the price accordingly. We just want to make sure that we release what we’ve heard, and remind everyone that this is still unconfirmed, but if it is something that interests you, you should look to make plans fairly soon. We will release more as we get the info.

for that very complete explanation. Tha repo cruise sounds like a fabulous opportunity and I would love to do it, but I'm afraid a 14-day cruise is not an option for us. My husband is in a solo practice and would never be able to take off for such a huge chunk of time.......although I'm sure his staff would love getting paid for the 2 1/2 weeks he's not around! And we won't have any graduations next May either......as opposed to the 3 we have this year! I'll just have to keep it in mind in the event we win the lottery and DH can retire!

No Repo-cruise for us - Although our next USA-trip will be in the West. Probably starting in the Denver-Area and then a big circle through Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Arizona. Another possibility may be a New England-tour.
We'll have to ponder it for a while as we don't know if we will do another USA-trip next year after having been to the US twice in '03 and then again '04. We're also considering a dive-vacation to the Seychelles or Maledives next year, or even Egypt, but an Islamic country like this isn't a top-choice IMHO right now. We'll have to wait and see.
Another possibility we're thinking about is a repo-cruise on a German ship, the Aida. This boat does a two-week Atlantic crossing twice a year, starting in the Mediterranean with two or three ports-of-call there, then across the Pond and another three ports there to eventually arrive in the Dominican Republic, where we would spend another week before returning.

If we don't do our usual four-week USA-trip next year, we'll probably do a week in NYC or Washington DC in spring for some shopping and sightseeing. But this also depends on the Dollar/Euro-conversion rate.

Don't you have practice-sitters in the USA? Over here we have lots of docs, who like to be independent and substitute their colleagues while those are on vacation. Those guys kind of 'jump' from practice to practice.

Eric:
He does have other physicians who "cover" for him but they do it in their own facility and they personally bill the patient. The patients are referred to the covering doctor via our staff or, during off-hours, his answering service. Essentially, if he's not around all his plant and equipment, including staff, are idle with the exception of any catch-up work that needs to be done. That's why it's difficult to be away too long. Evenually he would like to take on a junior partner, but the practice is very new (only 2 yrs. old) and still going through growing pains so that is not an option right now. We moved to NC because DH was tired of private practice and all its headaches (I did not work for him at the time and his office manager was a crook!) Anyhow, he landed a very nice position with a large group in Raleigh but after about 3 years they relocated to Charlotte and we did not want to pick up and move our family again. That is why at his age, he's still a relative newbie!

Geez, waitlists for the cruise already???? We will do our darndest to book a spot, just to have it reserved, then re-evaluate our financial, kid trying, work situation stuff to see if it is a doable option. I was going to MAKE Tim go to DLR regardless for the 50th....I grew up going there (thanks to a CM cousin, we got in free all the time!), but Tim thinks it is "ghetto." I plainly love Disneyland however (just add that to our differences, along with politics!) So, we will (attempt) to book the repo, then see if we can swing it for sure later in the year.

Part of me says, vacations can be done at places other than Disney....but the other part screams DISNEY!!! I would love to go to Italy....that is my next "dream destination".

Viking - My inlaws went to Egypt last year, and they thought it was amazing. There was security EVERYWHERE for them, as they were travelling with an American group, but they such a good time and an amazing learning experience. They were supposed to go in Oct of 2001, but Sept 11 put a screeching hold on that.

Jeanneg -- Can understand your DH's problem. Up til last year's cruise I only took one week off at a time because of leaving the office. I'm lucky though that there is another lawyer here who looks after my stuff for me while I'm gone. He only works part time as he also teaches full time but he does cover for me. Because of the work that I do it's just not possible to schedule stuff around my time.

Would love to do a repositioning cruise but it's during my busy time of the year and I'd never be able to take the time off. Since the other lawyer teaches I can go during the year but he takes a lot of the summer off.

Fall is a busy time too so might not be able to go away again in the fall of 2005. January/February are good times to go away but not great weather times in Florida. Ugh

I'll just have to win the lottery and retire. :p

Folks,
if you happen to reply to mails sent from the antiguaorbust@yahoo.com, please do NOT use the 'REPLY'-button of your mailprogram!!! Reason: This may lead to sending back the attachments as well, and that will quickly exceed the mailbox's capacity.
Nevertheless I'll change the HIFO's table name from 'Hungy' to 'Hungry' - Although I can't image how someone can be hungry on that ship ;)

Goin' to bed now, reading some more of 'The Last Juror' by Grisham, and then getting some sleep - Tomorrow's Part II of root canal :( And Anja has to go there day after tomorrow for the replacement of a filling. Exchange of one of those ancient metal fillings against a state-of-the-art ceramic one. That guy gets his next vacation paid by us ;)

Hi Everyone--- Norm and I just got back from our 4 day trip to Williamsburg. Weather was great and no crowds to deal with. The palace gardens were beautiful with all the tulips in bloom. It has been over 20 years since we last visited there. So it was like a new adventure since it has been so long. I bought the Freedom pass through AAA so we have a year to return with that pass. Maybe we will go again either in late Oct or early November or next spring.

The reposition cruise looks really interesting. Wonder how many DVC points that will take. I doubt that we can cruise next Oct because of my committment as Chairperson of the NE Regional Conference for WOCN (my professional group). The conference is in the 3rd weekend of Oct so will have to go after the conference.

We have not made any decisions regarding excursions for the Oct trip. I am still working on our May cruise excursions. Need to finalize a couple more things and then we will be ready to cruise in May.

Got alot of things to get caught up on talk to everyone later.

Jeanne-- Sorry I never responded to your requests for a name for our dinner group. The name you picked looks fine to me.

Where: Parrot Cay Dinning Room- Disney Magic.
When: Thursday Oct 7th 12:00-2:00pm
What: Seafood Buffet
How: Send your info to me. Twinave@aol.com. (Last name and how many will attend) I will go to the head server at Parrot Cay and give them a heads up as to how many people to expect. Put Dis Brunch in subject line.
How Much: Free or should I say the price is "included in the price of the cruise".
Why: OK, here's my thinking......

:scratchin
By Thursday everyone will have met at least once.
It's open seating.
Planning can take place for the final assault on Castaway Cay.
Lots of Photo-Ops.
Totally informal.
Children are welcome.
It is an "at sea day", so no one should have to rush off for an excursion.
Seafood buffet should offer everyone somethoing they like.
Drinks are on me. (Soft drinks, tea and coffee only)

Anja,

You can come to New Hampshire. Our squirrels are so spoiled that they will actually bang on the windows when they have no food outside... And if you are outside and they have no food you will likely be bombarded with flying missiles from the little creatures until you fill the food box...

Hello, there! I hope everyone is having a good week so far...

I contacted Chantal, the rep from Adventure Antigua Eco Tour and she requests that anyone who would like to book to please contact her directly. All you need to do is specify that you are with the Cruisetoberfest (hope I spelled that right!) group for Oct 5.

Here is the link for online reservations...

http://www.adventureantigua.com/book.htm

Don't forget, you get a 10% discount for booking online, and the deposit due at the time of booking is $20. She didn't give a deadline for booking, however all tours are limited to 25 people, so the sooner the better! It sounds like an amazing time!

Feel free to either PM me or email me at jillfox@comcast.net if you have any questions or want clarification on anything!

Hello:

I will not be sailing with you DISers on 10/2/04, however, we are sailing on the 9/18/04 cruise which stops at Antigua.

I contacted DCL this week about the Antigua excursions and info about the personal watercraft (jet ski) excursion on CC. This is DCL's response:

The shore excursions for Antigua have not been finalized yet. Please check periodically with our
Special Service Desk or website for updated information.

The Personal Watercraft Tour on Castaway Cay is for our guests 8 years and older. However, this
shore excursion cannot be reserved in advance. Arrangements for this specific excursion can only be
made once onboard the ship at our Shore Excursion Desk. Following is a description for you:
Get to know Castaway Cay like a native! A knowledgeable guide will take you on a fascinating eco
adventure via personal watercraft as you learn about the area's abundant marine life, unique ecology
and storied history. First, your guide will lead the way to a scenic stop amid the mangroves, where
you'll learn about Castaway Cay's intriguing ecosystem. Then, it's off to a second point of
interest, where your guide will describe the colorful history of The Bahamas and the unique island
marine life. You may ride either single or in pairs on this exciting journey-why not make it a
family affair? The entire adventure, including Personal Watercraft instructions will last
approximately 1 hour. It is recommended to wear water shoes or sandals, as well as eyeglass straps.
Riders will board the watercraft from the water.
Cost Per Person: $95 single riders $160 double riders
To ride, you must be at least 8 years old. To drive, you must be at least 18 years old. If you are
16 or 17 years old and wish to drive, you must obtain authorization from a parent or legal guardian.
Age Requirements: No one under 8 allowed on this shore excursion due to age limits and safety
concerns.

Hi Everyone,

I talked with Colleen (Scootersmom) tonight, and we decided to get together Fourth of July weekend. We'll be going to Penn's Cave and staying at the SpringHill Suites in State College, PA from July 2-5. We decided to post this on the boards to see if anyone else was interested in joining us. You know, the more the merrier. PM me or Colleen if you want more details.

Anyway, it seems most of the hotels are booked so we reserved our rooms tonight.

Hi Everyone. Wow! This is a busy thread!

I (40), dh (37), dd (almost 13), & ds (10) will all be onboard 10/2/04. We just cannot wait! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We're celebrating our 16th anniversary (we're reserving Palo for dinner), & dd's 13th b-day on the ship.

This is our 2nd cruise, the first being Sept 7, '02.

This is my first "meet" on the DIS. Do we really find friends here & meet you on the ship? Do people get together prior to sailing? We were originally going with another family (kids the same ages), but he lost his job recently, and they can't justify the expense right now. (Hopefully, that can change very soon & they'll change their minds!) We're disappointed--we were really looking forward to sharing the trip with someone we know.

I'm really glad I found DISboards. I've gotten some really great ideas. I only wish I knew of it in '02! Thanks for the great advice!

Hi Renee'

We would love to join you but it seems we are now going to move my lab into a new facility and everything has to happen in the next 3 months, so if we could come it would be last minute and then we would be sleeping on chaise lounges outside..Hmmmm does this sound a little like our last cruise ????

I am excited about the move, since I will be only 14 miles from work and not 45 miles as I am now.

Hi Zapp1213. Welcome! We have not cruised with this group before either, but everyone is very friendly and it sounds like the cruise will be a blast! What suburb do you live in? We used to live in Niles, but we moved to Naperville before our last move to Charlotte, NC, 18 years ago. I will post the info needed to get on our list later if someone else doesn't. Just wanted to say a quick hello to a fellow Chicago area cruiser.

Congratulations Amy and family. Hope that all goes well with the delivery and everyone recovers just fine. Welcome to all of our new cruisers. Several of us have cruised together for the last 3 or so years. These are some of the nicest people in the world to be with. You can choose to do things together or not it is up to you. This is just a way of breaking the ice and it makes you feel like you are cruising with family not 2400 strangers. Mike

Hi Zapp1213 -- Welcome!!! We joined the group for last year's cruise and had a great time. It really made the cruise for us esp. as we got to eat dinner with people we "knew" rather than with total strangers. It's a great bunch of people. The best part is wandering around the ship and bumping into people that you know. It's make for a friendlier cruise. The CM's got to know us too which was neat.

There are activities planned and you can join or not as you wish. Nothing is mandatory.

You can join using the link that is in Viking's post at the bottom. You will receive a list of info about us all to help you leap into the thread.

Last summer we did go to Baltimore to meet some people beforehand which was great and I know that there were various other meets in different areas. Most people we didn't meet until the actual cruise though -- it was easy to spot people as we all had the same logoed t-shirt.

Welcome and hope you have fun.

Hi Zapp1213,
Welcome to our jolly bunch of cruisers. The answer to all your questions is very easy: YES!!!! ::yes:: Some of us will be cruising for the fourth time together, some more for the third time, even more for the second time, and the majority for the first time. But we all have something in common: We are friends - Some old, some new, but friends.
If you want to join us, please send your info using the link in my signature. Your mail should contain: First names, ages, profession of all adults, first name, ages of the kids, DIS-name, email for the newsletter/List, your stateroom, dinner-seating, hometown/state, the place you spent the night at before the cruise, special occasion to be celebrated on the cruise.
If you send it until tomorrow noon Central Time (I assume that this is your timezone) I should be able to do an update tomorrow evening (I'm in Central Time too, but Central European ;)) and send the first edition of the List containing your data.

Looking forward to your mail - And keeping my fingers crossed for your friend, that he may soon find a new job and be able to join us :wave2:

Jenn and Peter...Philadelphia is approx. 2 hours and 15 minutes from Gettysburg...you could get the PA turnpike right at Philadelphia and then take that all the way towards Harrisburg..not a bad drive and the cost of the flight would be way cheaper than the price of gas these days...there is a civil war museum in Harrisburg, the Eisenhower farm in Gettysburg and of course, the battlefield and you are still close to Lancaster so you could swing over to see the Amish and have a great dinner in Lancaster...this is a beautiful spot in Pennsylvania. If you let us know ahead of time (and we're not on vacation..2 weeks in August) we could meet you down there since we love this area (especially Lancaster). Let us know.

We are extemely busy at work lately..we had a very large OB/GYN doctors group which strictly worked at a competing hospital..long story short, they decided that they liked our facility (we actually never had OB/GYN until a few years ago and we built a state of the art unit and NICU unit) and philosophy better so they are joing our healthcare organization and bringing all of their business here...great coup for our hospital but means busy for our department since we are in charge of all building projects and we will have about 5 building projects going on at the same time...Lots of fun for the next year!!

ciadriamom...CONGRATULATIONS on the gradution...you must be so proud!! I always admire people who go back to school while working and raising a family..I admire you!! No mail from Zapp1213, so no update this weekend. I won't have time tomorrow as we will go to a birthday-party. Anja has to work tomorrow, which makes it the third weekend in a row. She was supposed to have a weekend off, but four other nurses called in sick. Tomorrow is our Labour Day, unfortunately on a Saturday  And additionally it is a very special day for us Europeans:
10 more countries will join the European Union tomorrow, which brings the number of countries to 25 and the population to 450 million. No more borders from the Atlantic Ocean to the Russian border, plenty of business-opportunities, and most important: Lasting peace and freedom. And a big part of it is based on the help the USA gave us for more than five decades.
We'll have big fests (Celebrations) all over Europe during the weekend, especially in the new member-states, but also in the old ones.

Talking about movies: I borrowed the first 5 seasons of 'Sex and the City' on DVD from a friend. As it is an international edition it carries age-ratings for the different markets.
The differences are astonishing:
In the USA you must be 18 to watch it,
in Germany 16,
in the UK 15,
and in Spain 12

It is possible, that next year we may be able to join a meeting like this, too: Cologne-Airport is planning a joint venture with a some air-carriers to offer low-budget flights to the USA and Canada next year. They're talkin about €99 for a return-ticket Cologne-New York. As Cologne is only about 120 miles from Frankfurt this sounds very interesting. Especially if you take into account that there is direct highspeed train running from Frankfurt airport to Cologne airport, covering the distance in 90 minutes. My best time with the car to Cologne is in the 70-minute-range, but that was in perfect conditions, usually it's more like 90 to 120 minutes.

Every once in awhile you hear about a couple of American "bad apples" (like this week with the mistreated Iraqi prisioners), but generally I like to think our heart is in the right place even though we always seem to be getting a bad rap from overseas. I have had the opportunity to travel quite a bit and am always horrified to see the "ugly American" in action. Some people just don't realize that when they travel abroad, they are a "guest" in another country and should behave accordingly. The only thing greater than their rudeness is their obvious ignorance.
Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox....... enjoy all the festivities in Eupope this weekend!

As far as I know there's really not much blood shed in Vol 2, so DS was right. But Vol 1 is a different story ;)

Thanks for your kind words, Jeanne ::yes:: Every country has its share of 'bad apples'. And additionally you have to take into account that the GIs in Iraq are in an extreme situation, which can lead to some extreme behaviour. This is no excuse for maltreatment of prisoners, but perhaps an explanation how such things happen.
And BTW: Although many of us Europeans right now have a different opinion than your country's present administration, we're still your friends. It is one of the core values of a strong friendship to be able to have different views in some issues, but still be friends.
And talking about countrymen abroad: I also had enough reasons to be ashamed of German tourist in foreign countries. 'Ladies' trying to enter mosques in very light clothing, German patrons in American restaurants tipping like they were in Germany, etc.

I like Quentin, however I couldn't get into Kill Bill. The opening scene really turned me off....although I loved alot of the other fight scenes. Who knows. I'll watch it again and give it another shot. Violent is an understatement when describing the film.....the man has an imagination unlike any other....a friend of mine from High School is one of his personal assistants. She has gotten a bit, shall we say, different since she has moved to LA.

On another note, everyone send prayers to my aunt (and godmother) who was diagnosed with breast cancer on Thursday. She starts chemo asap...I just had a friend of mine go through chemo and radiation (hodgkins at the age of 30), and I know Aunt Jean is not in for an easy road ahead. I think it has us all on edge because my grandmother (her mom) died of breast cancer just under 2 years ago. So, the more prayers the better! I may fly out to Cleveland to see her this summer.

two-foxes: sorry about your aunt....my thoughts and prayers are with you. I agree about Quentin...his films are much too violent for me, although my son LOVES the 2 Kill Bill flicks. In fact, the only creation of his I ever liked was one of the vignettes in "Four Rooms" that starred Antonio Banderas. I must have seen that over 10 years ago and I still tell my kids "Don't Meesbehave!" If you haven't seen it yet, you definitely should...... it's really a riot!

It's official: my son is going to be a Tarheel. We did everything in our power to convince him to go to NYU, USC(LA) or Wash U, but when push came to shove, he didn't want to be that far from home. I know we should be rejoicing (it's "only" 10 grand vs. approx. 43 for NYU's Tisch), but DH and I still feel he's giving up an opportunity to experience the world. Oh well, it's a done deal now - the letters have been mailed.

Last year we had two breast cancer survivors in our group, who rewarded themselves with the cruise for defeating that foe - One wilkl be with us again this year, the other is doing th 10/09/04-cruise (That is, if the ship is still in shape after we're finished with it :jester:)

A BIG THANK YOU...
to all the hard working fellow cruisers that keep me and others up to date about the Cruisetoberfest Activities.

I don't post alot, but I enjoy trying to keep informed with activities.

My sister and myself will be staying at WDW 9-27-04 til time to leave for Port Canaveral on 10-2-04. At present, I plan on going to MNSSHP on 10-1-04. I am hoping that there are some fellow cruisers planning on a stay at WDW pre-trip also.

So far, I know that I'll be doing the Champainge Brunch Sail in St Thomas (did that in January and it was wonderful). I'm waiting to see what DCL has to offer in Antigua before deciding excursions there.

I am assigned to second seating dinning and would like to hook up with some fellow cruisers for dinner assignments, if possible.

Thank You so much, and I can't wait to meet everyone.

Hi Sue, nice to see you posting!

We went to the IMAX theater yesterday to see the NASCAR 3D film. Without question the BEST 3D film I have ever seen!!!I highly recommend to any NASCAR fan who has an IMAX in their area.

jeanneg..congrats on your DS decision. When I took my DD to Manhatten a few years ago she informed me that it was the coolest place on earth and she was going to go to school, then live there whe she was old enough. I thought "oh GREAT"! The most expensive place in the world and my DD wants to live there!!:earseek:

Two-foxes...more pixie dust to your aunt. Working in the OB/Gyn field as I do, I see a lot of women who are dx with breast cancer. It is by NO means the horrible prognosis it use to be. Current treatments are very good and there are many breast cancer survivors because of this.
Reminder to all ladies on this thread...GET YOUR MAMMOGRAMS!!!

Two-Foxes--- I am one of the breast cancer survivors that Viking was speaking about. This cruise will be my second anniversary of being cancer free. In fact this past week, just had a follow up mammogram which was fine. I'm going to see my surgeon on Tuesday for a followup visit. This group was very supportive of me last year when I was going through treatments. Being a nurse, I anticipated the worse when I was diagnosed. Since I am in acute care, you don't have contact with the oncology outpatients so I only saw the patients who did not do well. There is a large number of breast cancer survivors out there who are leading productive lives. My prayers go out to your aunt and hope that she does well. If you have any questions that I can answer for you please email me.

jeanneg--- Congratulations to your son. How far away is the university from your house?

Welcome to all the new cruisers.

Peter---- Another option to get from Philly to Gettysburg is to do the Turnpike to Lancaster Route 30 and then take that to Gettysburg. You will see alot more of the area then major highways. It is mostly 4 lanes except from York to Gettysburg. If you get this way, let me know and maybe we can hook up. Gettysburg is only 40 minutes from my house.

I have DS#1 belonging moved back. He isn't finished until Thursday, but have brought the big articles home. DS#2 is finished on Thursday also, so Norm needs to go to the other end of the state to pick up his junk. So we are the Fike Moving and Storage Company this week and the Storage part for the next 3 months.

Only 12 more days until we leave for vacation.

Nancy: Congratulations and best of luck towards your continuing survivor status. Chapel Hill is about 40-45 minutes from where we live so it not a bad distance at all. We will still let him board as I think he'll have a better overall college experience doing so. His car, which is now 15 years old and about to die, will be staying home at least until he's a sophomore!

We just had our Disney fix: We watched 'The Parent Trap', the new one from the 90ies with D. Quaid, N. Richardson and Lindsey Lohan. It was on TV, but we decided to watch the DVD, which enabled us to watch in English and without commercial. I was a good way to end the weekend after we started it with 'Kill Bill' ;)
In 10 days we'll get 'Freaky Friday' on DVD, I preordered it on Amazon.de.
Last night we got home at 0400am  First of May was horrible weatherwise - It didn't rain, it POURED. Unfortunately it also is the day of the most important bicycle race in Germany, which takes place in and around Frankfurt. Those poor racers had to pedal about 150 miles at 50°F and constant heavy rain.
When we went to the party at 7pm a guy in front of us smashed his Ford compact into the guard-rails leaving the Autobahn - Fortunately only a fender-bender. And when we left the party in the wee hours we saw a lot of flashing lights on the Autobahn: Four African-Americans were obviously too fast and 'unvoluntarily' left the track flipping their car over a couple of times landing it about 50 yards from the Autobahn in a field, but fortunately they weren't hurt either as only German police and US MP had to take care of them - no ambulances.

My aunt will thank you for your good wishes! Health care in her small town has a lot to be desired, so she will travel the hour+ to get to the Cleveland Clinic....not too long to travel at all, but here in Fort Collins (all too close to the Wyoming border for my taste;) ) we have wonderful medical care, and we are considered a bit of a cow town. Over all, it is just frustrating to be far from loved ones when bad things happen.

Now back to vacationing topics.....
A friend from work (actually the one who recently finished her treatments for hodgkins) and I have been sharing our vacation excitement....she is headed to Hawaii...in four weeks!!!! She is so close to a week of paradise! (Can you tell we love our jobs..alwasy talking about our next opportunity to leave on vacation  ) She was literally counting down the weeks on a calendar, and all I could come up with was "Yeah, well on June 22 I can make my 90 day priority seatings for dinner at WDW!" Somehow, it just didn't carry the same weight as "I leave for Hawaii in 4 weeks!"

So again I ask...is it cruising time yet?

Peter during the civil war, only one other state had more battles fought on it's soil than Tennessee and that was Virginia. Best that I can remember there were 457 battles fought in Tennessee. Tennessee was the last state to leave the union and the first to return after the war.

I used to work for a crappy company (CSX). They were so dumb that they did not put any money for snow removal for the chicago area to keep the rail yards operational. Their solution was to lay people off to balance the budget.

Looking forward to the cruise. Mike

You aren't the only one Jean -- Jim says that once he starts talking computers I get a glazed look in my eyes. It's true and I end up just nodding a lot!

Busy at work trying to get the "little stuff" off my desk. I'm not sure if it's working yet though!

A client opened up a new restaurant and we were invited last night for a dry run. It was really good actually and we were given food that I would not have ordinarily ordered -- we had to order a set menu as it was really a dry run for their staff rather than the guests. It was ok though because I tried stuff I would not have ordered on my own.

It's cold here today -- Only about 40F but at least it isn't raining like it did all weekend.

We went to Buffalo Saturday afternoon for a scouting meeting which was nice except for the rain. Stopped at Tops on the way home. Am always amazed at all the different brands of stuff in the US. Our grocery stores are fine but we don't have 6 different brands of frozen waffles etc. so it's always interesting to walk through the grocery store.

Back to work. Jays are back in town though!

Fiona,
we had 73°F/23°C today, but around 9pm it started to rain and the forecast predicts more rain for the rest of the week, but the temps are supposed to stay in the upper 60/lower 70-range. Next weekend will be our first off after four weeks, but the rest of the May-weekends will be full of work again: I'll teach two first classes and will surely be at the office one Saturday.

Jeanne,
Anja's also technologically challenged ;) At least at home, because she's got a servant handling everything with more than one button to push.
Although at the hospital she has to operate myriads of gizmos, she refuses to touch any electronic device at home.

Hi Guys,

Have not checked in for a while, all in all the boards have been quiet.

Mom & I hope to also do the Repo cruise from Fla to Ca. I should hear from my Travel agent tomorrow...

I have been busting my backside for the past 5 days installing all the new trim on the house, so that everything is ready for the siding party on May 15th. I can't wait to get it finished. I also have nightmares that we will not have enough help to get it done. One of our builder friends had to back out, his company is sending him to Saudi Arabia to install a portable ski slope.

Hopefully it will all work out. I will post a few links for pictures this weekend if anyone is interested in seeing what a 1760 house looked like back then....

Kim - I bought tickets for MNSSHP for Oct. 12 (the day before we fly home). I didn't want to go on Oct. 1 since I want to spend time and play at Ron Jon. I also made a PS for LTT for 5pm since we had so much fun there last year.

I must admit, that I even have 240 GB: 80 GB in the puter and an additional 160 GB in an external drive as soon as the new drive arrives - Probably Friday.

That Sasser-worm ist a mean bugger, but obviously it has a feeling of justice: I mainly hit the computers of the managers in my company, but left Joe Average's puter alone :p This morning my manager came in after a day off, booted his notebook after inserting it into the docking station and then it shut down and restarted for about 30 minutes - we nearly laughed our bu**s off :rotfl: He ran around in circles and cried for help from our IT-guys, but they were already working at other hotspots and arrived after about an hour. Fortunately after about half an hour the notebook stayed online long enough to automatically download the patch and repair itself.
My teamleader has the same problem with his PC at home, but only has an analog modem, which requires about 10 minutes to download the Microsoft patch. As I'm the proud owner of a brandnew upgrade to a DSL 2048-line (Meaning that I need about 4 seconds to download 1 MB) I downloaded it again for him, put it on my USB-flashdrive (32 MB key chain data carrier) and will pass it to him tomorrow.

Hey guys quick question, since I'm a self-confessed shopaholic, is there anything in particular I should be looking to buy while in St. Thomas or Antigua. I have a particular affinity for crystal.

I'm sorry Sharon,
but I don't know anything about the shopping possibilities at St T, but there should also be a kind of briefing on the ship. Although DCL usually promotes mainly shops they have contracts with it should be helpful.
And perhaps you should post that question on the regular cruise boards as an extra thread - You'll probably get more info that way.

I am with you on the shopping. I went to www.dcltribute.com and printed off the "Shopping In Paradise" guides Dave has posted there; those come with the navagator for each port. I tried to look up websites for some of the retailers listed, but most do not allow shopping online, they were just informational sites...so no luck on prices. Many many years ago, we went to St Thomas and my mom will still talk about the great jewelry deals they have. I will be convincing Tim that I need a diamond right hand ring, and I am sure he will be trying to convince me that he needs a Breitling watch....sometimes we like to forget we are "civil servants" for a living and spend money like rock stars!

But check out Dave's site, see if the port guide offers any help...btw, there isn't one for Antigua....

I almost can't keep up with you all! I didn't check the board for two days, and four pages of posts were added.

Heidi is really excited to get in touch with Ciara, so if there are any other early teens on board, PM me with your e-mail, and I'll give you Heidi's e-mail.

Someone asked where I'm from (sorry, it's on a previous page, and I don't want to leave this page). I'm in Crystal Lake, Illinois--far northwest suburb. Naperville is about an hour south of me.

Also, the person from Lakewood, NJ? I grew up in Middletown. Was there for 25 years till my hubby moved me out here.

I can't wait to get the list from Eric--looking forward to "getting to know" you all.

2 adults .. on hold with dcl... and still waiting to see what dreams does for us as we asked for cat 10 deck 5 secret porthole room..

KIM and u ????

Yes I can Imagine the reception the Magic will get ....
AT every port that it stops at as we went on the Western Inaugural and that in it self was awesome... never mind pulling into CAL.....

as for the airfare it appears that JET Blue out of Boston

Might Be the option for us ? As they are about 75.00 bucks less than SW.. and will get us into florida at 9:30 pm verses 11pm on sw.... will keep u posted....

Im going on a 14 day cruise.....lol

Hi Guys,

Just got off of the phone with my T.A. who was at Disneyland for the announcements. We are now reserved in a Cat 11 for the panama westbound cruise for # 3371.78. She let on a little about what the reception will be for the Magic, she said it will be UNBELIEVEABLE.

Of course it will not be the same without 100 or so of our cruising friends...

Peter, If you guys have a better price with Jet Blue then I would definately go with them. It is too much of a hassle to drive to Boston for us. I think I may call Southwest and see about getting on an earlier flight , you are right, arrival into Orlando @ 11pm is late, then to drive to the cape...

Well I am pooped, I am off to be somewhat lazy for the evening...

Bye everyone,

Well, unless Tim changes his mind by Monday, we'll be with you on the August repo. We are plainly getting ripped off, imho, but we really do want to go! Cat 7 GTY for $5800 and some change. I am hoping for a nice upgrade...the DCL rep said she'd bet on it! Since I was at work in meetings all morning (to pay for this:earseek: ) it looks like I missed the best prices....didn't get a quote until 4:15 mountain time. So unless DU pulls through or my AAA agent (who was out of the office ALL DAY:mad: ) pulls through with the "inventory fax" she sent out last week, we'll book it for sure, and plan for it. two-foxes - I just read another thread that said you can save 10% on the cruise if you use Costco travel. I'm checking to see if I can transfer the reservation from DCL to them and still get the 10% off or if it has to be made originally with them. If I can save the 10%, then I will transfer to them since $522 is more of a savings than the $200 rebate from Dreams.

If you're a member this will help cut your costs for the cruise. If not, it may pay to spend the $40 or so to join and save all that money. You might want to check it out.

Ok I'm jealous of the people that get to do the transitional cruises. It would be so neat. Thought about it yesterday but realized that there's no way I'd be able to get that much time off work. I'm pushing it to get 2 weeks in October. If I did the transitional I'd want at least 3 weeks to visit both DL and WDW and the cruise. Darn work -- how come I didn't win the lottery????

Anyway for everyone that's going have a great time. Renee you got a great deal!!

Hello fellow cruisers! Left town for the still unbelievably cold MI north (Sault Ste Marie) for ten days and it took forever to catch up! Just wanted to make sure DH and I were still on the list for the ST scuba/snorkel fun, since I was almost certain the deadline was here! I envy everyone who gets to go on one of the repositioning cruises! We only get to take 1 two week vacation a year and would get shot down quickly if we asked for another! If I am reading correctly, still no word from Disney on Antigua excursions? Want to wish everyone and warm and WELCOME Spring :cheer2:

Eric -- the standard vacation time is 2 weeks here in Canada plus I think it's 9 statutory holidays. Most companies give you more vacation time depending on the number of years that you've worked there. I don't have any set number of vacation days (an unusual situation) but was told to take them when needed so that I don't get too stressed out. :p

Typically most lawyers get 4 weeks vacation starting out but the problem is that because of the nature of the job it's almost impossible to take 2 weeks together let alone all 4 weeks at once. Most only take 1 week at a time -- I took 2 last October and will take 2 weeks this October. This is unusual but I have a lawyer that backs me up when I'm away so it's not a huge problem. The real problem is always the almighty $$ -- if you're not here to do the work you don't get the billable $ to hit your target.

By contrast our staff typically will take 2 weeks off together depending on how much vacation time they get. My secretary takes 2 weeks in the summer, one in July and one in August since she only gets 2 weeks vacation. She then takes time off at Christmas using overtime that can be banked and used as vacation time (this varies depending on where you work).

We also have a one year maternity leave available in Canada. The mother typically takes the time but a father can take up to 15 weeks of the year's maternity leave. One of the secretary's here at work is set to leave in 2 weeks with the baby due June 15th.

Okay, I have a couple of "how-to" questions, and I can't seem to find a tutorial.

First of all, I asked technical support how to change the wording under my username on the left (mine says welcomed guest). Their answer was to change the custom text under user profile. I don't have "custom text". Is it called something else?

Secondly, how do you all copy previous posts into your posts?

LURKER ALERT! LURKER ALERT!

Just had to pop in and offer congratulations to all going on repositioning cruises. Can you see me green with envy!??!

Also, Mike give Kathy our best wishes on her retirement. She deserves weekends off. Full time with the Nurses for Newborns... a job she loves, perhaps it won't seem like work!

Was hoping to get together with some of you either prior or after your cruise in October because Rich and I are returning to WDW. However, we decided to go in September instead.... value season ya know. Gotta keep counting those pennies. Disappointed can't meet up with ya but will be meeting up instead with a Canadian DIS bud from the Flower and Garden Board that I've *known* for at least three years but have never met. That should be nice.

Hey DAN!!!! I don't know... what IS up with that??!!

End of Lurker Alert. We return you now to your regularly scheduled Antigua thread.....

There is no costco near us, but I checked online to see if we could join/book and I think we can....

I keep wondering if we should go, though! We have until Sun for DU and Mon for DCL to put the deposit down....We try to do one "BIG" vacation every other year, and this was our year for that. I wanted just to go to DLR next summer for 5 days or so, and I doubt we'll be able to swing both if we do the repo. But jeez, did you see the prices for the 7 niters out of LA? It is only $1000 less than the repo for half the vacation! They are running to the bank with this!!

Why don't you put the deposit down on one of the reservations and then decide later? That was what I was going to do originally, until I got such a great deal. Congrats on your retirement Kathy.

Also happy nurses day to all the nurses.

Our cherry tree is starting to bloom!! We are obviously a little behind our friends to the south but this is actually still early for them to be blooming. It is supposed to be warm here today but it keeps raining. It will be nice and sunny in the morning and then cloud over in the afternoon and pour. I have to look at this as a sign of spring though.

Thankfully it's Friday.

Hi Folks,

edition #14 of our evergrowing List is in your mailboxes - Check it out.

Over here the weather right now can only be described in four-letter-words not admissable on these Boards  Temps in 40ies and constant heavy rain for the last 24 hours. The same is predicted for the whole weekend, but I guess next weekend will be better as we have to work again then ;)

Happy Nurses Day from Anja to all her co-nurses  and congratulations on your retirement, Cathy. Now you can provide full-time care to Mike :jester:

Hello Rosemary & Richard :wave2:
we'll be in Florida and South Carolina from 09/11 on, but no themeparks for us this time. We'll only land in Orlando, pick up our car and start our roundtrip: Crystal River, Charleston, St Augustine, Panama City Beach. Then back to Orlando to return the car and head to the Port with Fiona & Jim. Back from the ship we'll return to Germany immediately like last time. But we're thinking about a week in The Big Apple next year, perhaps we could meet you then.

Renee...we're sailing with you...had to go with a category 9 due to the price but we're booked so just tell Lenny that I'll be up in the morning for my morning tea on the verrandah. I will miss my verrandah though but I just couldn't justify spending $2500.00 on it.

Told Sam that we'll be eating bologna sandwiches for the next year but what the heck--cruising Disney through the Panama Canal...wow!!

Great! Glad to hear that you're with us MaryJo. Were you able to get a discount with Costco? I'm working from home today (I didn't feel like going in) so you can call me if you want.

Mary Jo--

Congratulations on the Panama cruise! I'm glad you were able to get it going.

It was great talking with you yesterday. Can I share my hubby's comments with everyone? :teeth:

I'm going to look into the vacation club. It really sounds like a deal. I couldn't imagine how people could list 3, 4, 5 DCL's, in addition to land-based vacations! (Our last one was approx $5,000--couldn't do that every year!)

Well, enjoy those sandwiches!!!!

Thanks for the list Eric! I sent an e-mail with an update on the lunch crew. We have 27 people so far!
For anyone who is new or missed it: We are getting together in Parrot Cay dinning room on Thusday (day at sea) at noon for a sit down lunch. They are serving a seafood buffet that day. All are welcome, no additional charges. Just send me your name and who will be coming so I can add them to the list. My plan is to inform the dinning room manager of the approx group size the day before the lunch. It is open seating, so everyone can come and go as the please. I'm sure by Thursday the kids will have formed a few sub-groups, so they can eat together too. The nice thing about this is if you can't make it, or if you want to join in at the last minute, no problem. But I would like to get an idea of whos coming just to give the staff a heads-up.

Wish we could do the Panama Canal trip. I know it will be wonderful.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Later, Ave'

Mary Jo was cute. She said, "What? In Scranton?!?" :D

Now my question to you is, how can I trust you? ;) LOL

For those of you wondering...

Mary Jo & I e-mailed each other because she's in the Scranton PA area, and I'm going there to visit family in July. So we're going to get together for dinner.

I'm really excited about it, and about all of you being on the same cruise. I told Tom about it.

Of course, we watched NYPD Blue on Tuesday, where a man was rooked into going to NY by someone on the Internet & was robbed.

So Tom says, how do you know this isn't some freaky Internet guy trying to lure you? I said, well, she gave me her phone number. I could call & ask her.

And Mary Jo said, "There are no mass murderers in Scranton!"

It was quite funny. :teeth:
