Formal night - I read that only a few men wear a tux. DH was going to get a nice black suit and dress it up for formal, but wanted to make sure that he would not be alone or if the $85 for a tux rental would be more appropriate. I have seen a few questions about this but that is our one big issue - we want to dress up, but not look out of place!princess:

Tim bought this beautiful black suit for formal night (he had been eyeballing this suit for some time...he just used the cruise to convice me to let him get it!) He will pair it up with a silky black standard tie for formal, then a silver/black/white striped tie for semi. He was going to do a tux, but he fell in love with the suit. I think either a suit or a tux would do just fine!

My DH loves to sail, but I am afraid that the cruise ship packages might be a cattle boat. (did one of those on Nantucket. Don't want to do that again) Has anyone chartered with a local in St. Thomas or Antigua on a prior cruise? I'm looking for recommendations!

Eric and Anja..welcome home!

DB96..we were also looking at a sailing trip or a dive trip. This sailing trip looks good:

I found a great Tux on E-Bay for DH. He loves to wear it on the cruise, but a suite is also fine.

The kids are on Spring Break this week, so I get to sleep in an extra half hour since I don't have to drop them at school

Eric...looking forward to the next update.

To everyone who expressed their condolances....Thank you!We did learn that DH's friend did die of a heart attack.

 We're back from DC and had a wonderful time ... just too darn short!

Tried to find Piglet at the Smithsonian but couldn't seen to locate her in the throng. Really crowded due to the Cherry Blosson Parade, etc.

Hope it doesn't take Washington too long to recover from us. I'm afraid we carried on a little. We were actually like the "Griswold's on vacation".

Got some great pictures but by the time we got home last night, too pooped to clean them up and send em out to you Eric ... Mike when you have a minute, could you get some to Eric?

Eric ... got the book you wanted (I think) and I'll send it out shortly.

There is soooooooooooooooo much to see in DC, we have decided that it's going to be an annual thing for a few years.

Gotta run --- work calls, I mean screams!

two-foxes: that suit sounds perfect......now think of all the conch coolers you'll be able to have with the tux money!

Jenn: I just checked out the ships floorplan and your cabin would have been immediately under ours with one exception: you're on the other side!

OK Folks,
the newest update is in your mail boxes - Check it out.
The file is smaller this time as I dumped the 10%-coupon for the Grills. I'll incorporate it again in another update closer to the cruise.

Thanks for the book, Cathy - But there's really no need to mail it. I can also wait til the cruise.
BTW, did you see anything about my company in the museum. There should be something as our founder, Captain Elrey B. Jeppesen, invented the aeronautical charts, making aviation what it is today.

YOU CAN PRINT OUT THE WORDS SO U CAN LEARN IT....

Old New Hampshire
Written by Dr. John F. Holmes
Composed by Maurice Hoffmann

With a skill that knows no measure,
From the golden store of Fate
God, in His great love and wisdom,
Made the rugged Granite State;
Made the lakes, the fields, the forests;
Made the Rivers and the rills;
Made the bubbling, crystal fountains
Of New Hampshire's Granite Hills.

Old New Hampshire, Old New Hampshire
Old New Hampshire Grand and Great
We will sing of Old New Hampshire,
Of the dear old Granite State

Builded He New Hampshire glorious
From the borders to the sea;
And with matchless charm and splendor
Blessed her for eternity.
Here, the majesty of mountain;
Here, the grandeur of the lake;
Here, the truth as from the hillside
Whence her crystal waters break.

Old New Hampshire, Old New Hampshire
Old New Hampshire Grand and Great
We will sing of Old New Hampshire,
Of the dear old Granite State

As far as the Brunch goes...I'm still all for taking over one of the regular dinning rooms on a day at sea. We could give the dinning room head person a heads up the day before. http://www.computerpannen.com/cwm/cwm/3dlil/idea.gif What do you think?

It's official - I am a DIS forum addict! I have been reading all day and still am only on 27 of 67 pages just on the cruise line alone! Thanks to all of you for all the help and info - but I can not leave with out one last question. How do you know if you are wait listed or not? My paperwork show main as our request, but I see nothing about wait list. Where or how would I find out about this? I can't start stressing now - I'll never make it until 10/02/04!

Hi Everyone,

We just got back from DC. @Goofynut was right--DC was so crowded. We wound up getting in the Air & Space Museum at 12:00 after waiting in line to go through the security check for about 1 hour. We were so close! Anyway, we had a great time. We spent the day there and then spent Sunday at the other Air & Space Museum at Dulles Airport. We then went to see the cherry blossoms and monuments at night. Very pretty to see. Today (Monday) we went to the Zoo and saw the pandas.

We're planning on going back since there's so much to see that we didn't get to.

FridayFun....If you have main dinning, and want to change to late... NO PROBLEM! If you have late and want Main...you should get on the wait list. Every cruise I book Main, thinking we want to dine early, then switch to Late:confused:
Just call DCL or your TA to switch or get wait listed.

Glad the DC meet was fun. Wish we could have been there:(

Welcome, dsncruise lover! Glad to have you join us!

I wonder if we will make 200 DIS'ers before we sail!!!????

fridayfun...OH NO! Look out...your "HOOKED" now!LOL!

Ave, I think your idea is GREAT! The Palo Brunch was OK, but the problems the Palo folks gave us was NOT worth it. If we all hit one of the buffet dinning rooms for lunch one day while "at sea" I think it would work out MUCH better!I still may do the Palo Brunch but trying to book 40+ people was too much. For those of you who were not with us last year, we had a major problem with Palo. We booked everyone (about 6 tables) for the same time....THEN...they told us we could not do it and split the group into 2 different days.Ave (who took on the task of organizing the Brunch) was REALLY put on the spot...trying to change all the plans AFTER everyone thought the date/time was set. It made for a very upsetting 1st day on board. I think Thursday is the Seafood Buffet in Parrot Cay
;) HINT,HINT!!!

Peter...I agree with Ave...you do not want to hear her sing...she is the tone deaf twin:teeth:

List looks GREAT ERIC! Thanks!

Eric, when I took the kids to the beach near my in-laws house we could see the ships just off shore, working on the Hunley. When it was finally raised, and towed to it's present sight, all the church bells in Charleston rang! Thousands of people lined the Battery to watch as well as went out in boats. It was quite a day in Charleston. We could go see it when you are in Charleston if you'd like.

Eric .... Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for the work on the "list". I know it's time consuming BUT we love it. Art (the initially skeptic one) even looks for it now ... have a print out by my chair at home and one at work.

Mary ... I agree with you about the Palo Brunch. We'd be glad to do a Seafood Brunch at Parrot Cay. Hey, they have to feed us somewhere and we can pick where, so why not all pick Parrot Cay! Warning them isn't a bad idea either.

OMG the Sun is up and soooooooooooooo nice to see. I really can't take those dreary winder days.

Rene ... you got to see the Pandas in DC - I am so jealous. Just another thing to add to the to-see list for next year. I'm really sorry we missed you guys and I must say by only a few minutes it seems. We got there just as they opened but the line got long fast. Poor Kathy had to get hand scanned ... what a riot.

Well got to get back to work. I'll be in the book of the month club tonite when I pick up my new Hyundai Santa Fe.

The pandas were adorable. We saw them sleeping, playing and eating since we stopped back at different times during the day. Haley was so funny since this was her first time to a zoo. When she saw the tiger, she said "kitty". She like the elephants and giraffe too.

You're right the security line was long. People just weren't listening to what they had to do, which made things worse.

Where did you guys stay? We stayed at Candlewood Suites in Fairfax, VA. I got a great deal through hotels.com. We had a 1 bedroom studio with a full kitchen. Next time I will bring breakfast foods and just make something before we leave. We had a hard time finding a place for breakfast. The only place we found was Denny's. Haley liked the room since it was large enough for her to run around and play with her toys.

Glad everyone had a nice time in DC even if you didn't meet up. Would love to go and see all the sites. Was there as a child but don't remember a lot since my mother had a gall bladder attack that day. I do remember that b/c she got to lie across the back seat of the car and my brother and I had to squish into the front seat with my Dad. DB was way too close -- I don't think it was too pleasant for either of my parents. :p

Jays lost yesterday.:( We are going to the game tonight -- 17 rows up almost right behind home plate. Hopefully they will win.

Like the idea of a brunch in Parrot Cay -- as Mike said pages back -- we can wear shorts!! I doubt we are going to go to Palo at all this trip. Didn't like the way they handled the brunch and our server at dinner was nothing to rave about.

Bette -- Hope you are feeling better soon -- you have to go parasailing again on CC.

Back to work I guess. At least it's a short week.

Welcome to all newcomers.

Jeannie...hope you're feeling better after surgery.

Bette....pixie dust...it was good talking to you and get better. Kim..enjoy the hot dogs!!

My house is finally getting back to normal...that is with only a slight skunk smell!! Precious was certainly not Precious to us this past week!! The worst part is that Sarah was sent home from school because the nurse told her that she stunk!! I had everyone all over the hospital smelling a skunk whenever I walked by!! Rode up in an elevator with some patients who were sniffing the air when I got on--worse part was that I didn't think that we smelled!!!

Mary Jo -- our last dog got sprayed twice in 10 days. She wasn't that bright when it came to skunks. Lily, our present dog has gotten sprayed once. Skunks seem to like our backyard which has a pool in it. Everything smelled for days even though we washed her with special shampoo.

My brother got sprayed years ago as he was getting a baby skunk out of the pool. It was about 6am in the morning on a Saturday and when he walked into the house everyone was instantly awake because of the smell. :p

Hugs to Bette (and Kim).

Jeannie - hope you are feeling better. My DSIL had the surgery last year and felt much better afterwards.

Must get back to work so I can leave and go to the baseball game.

Hi guys,

Kim here... Just back from my business trip but here is a short update,

Mom is doing better, but still in the hospital. The Anesthesiologists
have a sub specialty that is for the management of cronic pain and how to relieve it thru injections in the spine. These guys are going to evaluate her today and start therapy. Hopefully she will be home in a few days feeling mucho better... You are all welcome to call her is you want, Fiona and Mary Jo called and she loved it...
If you want her # you can PM Fiona or Mary Jo or myself, however I am burning the candle at both ends right now so I may not get the message soon enough..

Kim -- Hope your mom starts her injections soon and that they will take away the pain. Sometimes the first one is not that effective (altho it can be), but after a series, people usually feel much better. My SIL had really bad back pain a couple of years ago, had the injections and she has been fine ever since. I am assuming the plan is for her to have epidural steroid injections which is what the pain control anesthesiologists usually do. Good luck to her! I am feeling OK but very, very tired.

@GoofyNut
04-07-2004, 10:25 AM
Kim ... give Momma our best wishes.

Jeanniec ... Take Care, and just think you can eat whatever you want on the cruise without pain! Hey, it's something to look forward to.

MaryJo ... Did you try doing the "beer bath" for precious? That is what AshLee's vet does ... tell's the "parents" to bring in the dog or cat with a 6 pack of some kind of beer and that's what he washes the animal with. I'm not sure but I think it's the yeasr or something in the beer that does the trick. Doesn't she get sprayed a lot? Maybe it's time you sit her down and do a lesson on what type of kitty's are good and what type are bad to play with!

Got our new vehicle after work last night . Geez it has a lot of buttons, bells and whistles. No just have to try and learn them.

JUST WONDERING ... has anyone seen the Toys-R-Us add with Jeffrey and the multiplying bunnies? That's hysterical.

Gotta get back to work ............

DH would love to, but saw how much it would cost to stay at his favorite hotel (polynesian) and almost gave him a heart attack. Thanks for the pics, Mike & Jeanne

Just in case the rest of has forgotten this: If you want your picture to appear on our web-site you should mail it ASAP to cruisetoberfest2@aol.com til noon Good Friday !!!!
Do NOT send your pics to the Yahho-Account!!!
The pics should be JPEG-formatted, and should notz exceed 300x300pixels. But if you don't know how to reformat or resize your pics, send what you've got and I'll do the extra-work. Nevertheless I'd appreciate adherence to above mentioned limitations ;) We have a really sickening forecast for the Easter Weekend  Rain, sleet, thunderstorms, low temps, etc. :(
Originally we planned to do some cruising with my ex-wife and her hubby in our convertibles, but now it seems as I will have plenty of time to work on the homepage ;)

For those, who don't know what I'm talking about: Last year I made a homepage with pics from most of our cruisers, adorned with our DIS-name and first names. This was intended to put faces to the names and facilitate recognition when meeting for the first time.
About 6 weeks ago I offered to do the same again and got some positive response, but so far I only have pics from the veterans and two 'newbies' :(
As building this homepage is quite time-consuming I'd prefer to do it in one big effort and then just add a pic from time to time, so please send your pics within the next 48 hours - Thanks You!!

SEND YOUR PICS !!!!!!! Or I will look on the web for some fun-pics and put your names on it :jester: Ooops, that was my evil me speaking

We booked for this cruise back on our November Western trip because of the discount and onboard credit knowing that we could cancel.

Thought seriously about cancelling and doing something else but was notified by TA yesterday that we were upgraded from a Catagory 12 to a Catagory 9 Oceanview Room.

Family (DW & DS10) didn't want to cancel but I did. Thought three times in three years was too much but today when I went to the DCL website to view a Catagory 9 (we have stayed in 11 & 12 two previous years) I got to the site's homepage and heard that music and saw her docked in Castaway Cay my heart melted. I could think of no where else that I would rather be than there.

Look forward to meeting you all then.

Welcome, shooter (and anyone else new I may have missed).

I am very impressed with the way our ranks are growing......and we still have almost 6 full months to pick up even more! It seems like we truly will take over the ship. I wonder how other people will react to the size of our group. Maybe some of the veterans can fill me in......do other nonDIS sailors look upon us with ill favor? And how does the crew react? I know you had a bad experience in Palo, but I have to think that generally we're a fun-loving and friendly group that interacts well with the staff.

Eric: you are going to be VERY disappointed with my German....as I mentioned before, the only words I remember well are either curse words or have to do with bodily functions!

Congrats Eric on #1800.

Jays lost again. :(

Jeanneg -- Overall people react really well and so did the CM's. They thought it was really amazing esp. when they kept seeing the t-shirts with the same logo. For instance we knew that Eric and Anja had already checked in at the terminal building b/c the CM that checked us in commented that he'd already seen the T-shirts and we said yup that would be Germans huh? He wondered how we knew they were German so we had to explain about the Disboards.

We actually had something really funny happen after the cruise at MNSSHP. We were wearing the name buttons that Renee made and were watching the parade when the couple next to us mentioned that they had been on the cruise too and boy did we come from a big family -- we explained that nope we weren't related to any of the other people but were part of the DIS family. They were amazed as they thought that it had been a big family reunion!!

Other than the Palo thing everything went really well.

Back to work.

Hi Guys,

This is Kim here...

Just an FYI, Mom will be coming home tonight, ( If I decide to go get her) with some very strict guidelines to follow. For the next couple of weeks she will have Physical Therapy and Visiting nurses at the house and then she will start going out to therapy and starting the needle treatments in her back.

Any bets on how soon she does something she shouldn't ???

I say about 24 hours max !!!

Jeanneg, Here is my funny story about last years cruise and our group, I went to guest services for something ??? and the cast members looked up at me and one said " oh, your one of them". I asked of that was bad and they said no, that our group was one of the best behaved groups they have had on board the Magic...

Kim ... That's great news about your Mom coming home. BUT I think unless you are there to keep track of her, she'll be doing something she shouldn't the minute you leave her. Remember she is the one that had no problem parasailing at CC. Give her our best wishes. BTW is Bernie still talking about his "vacation"?

A lot of the CM's remember us from year to year and have a lot of fun "goofing around" with us. Then there are the "lurkers" who see us in the flesh and say they were too intimidated by us. My reply is "well you missed out on all the goodies we passed around, maybe next time you'll join in".

I'm thinking that Bette's idea for any of the veterans is to put " WE'RE BAAAACK! on the back of the shirts, is a real good idea.

FYI ... If you're out gathering Easter Goodies, stay away from the "brown" jelly beans, especially the ones in little piles - If you know what I mean!

I have worn DH down! Now he just sighs everytime I say I am online! I found last years pictures and (after getting a big sigh and an ok) sent out our pic for this year! I have switched places with DH as the one more excited about the cruise now.

I wanted to check - Do the itineraries and onboard calender of events stay the same (in regards to formal nights, etc)? Just looking into the REAS and was looking WAY AHEAD as to what days to schedule things on.
Have to push away from the computer - opening day for Tigers at Comerica park!

I received three more pics and I have to extend the time for sending more of them. I won't be able to work on the homepage tomorrow as planned, because we're going to have a CruisetoberfestII-Reunion :bounce: :Pinkbounc Jen & Jeff (TigFanJeff), Gaby & Jeff (Silentshot) and Anja & I will meet tomorrow and cruise over to the Rhine Valley for some sightseeing and dinner at some traditional country inn - A Gasthaus. Fortunately the forecast is looking a bit brighter than expected: A mix of clouds and sunshine, but no precipitation and temps of up to 59°F/15°C. We may even be able to drive with the top down :smooth:

OK, gotta catch some Zs now. Hi Everyone!
And a Big Welcome to all our newbies! What a great orld the internet has allowed. (You just have to know where to look.) :jester:
Most of the CM we met up with were very intriged with the idea that this huge group met on the internet. We got all and only positive reactions from the crew. No one bothered us about our door signs, t-shirts, or group gatherings.
One funny story: On CruisEars 9/28/02 there was a big group of us at the sail-away party on deck 10. Sister Mary had a ton of goodies layed out, things that other Diser's brought to share. She was busy bagging things up ang passing them out, when a CM came up to her and asked her if she was trying to Sell Disney stuff. LOL She explained that these were things she was "giving away" for the group. They did not believe her at first.

Thanks for all your stories....it's nice to know we will be a welcomed group and not a dreaded one!

Goofynut: what is it about "lurkers"? We had a very interesting experience last year: About 5 months prior to sailing, I began a thread and although it didn't come close to the size of this one, by the time we sailed there were approximately 25 families that had actively posted and promised to meet. When the time came for the sailaway party, only about half of the families showed up. With the exception of one woman, who had a very frantic first day with a sick child and posted when we returned, we never heard from any of the others. It was as if these people literally dropped off the face of the earth. I did notice 2 couples who were at the meeting place but never came forward and wondered if they were one of "us" or just there by coincidence. The dozen or so families that did meet ended up having a great time and 5 of us will be sailing together again this August. I still can't figure out why the others never came forward....it's not like we were a particularly intimidating bunch of people. For the most part, we were all just "average joes" .......on the other hand, maybe we weren't cool enough for them. Some of these people posted very regularly too. Anybody here experience something similar?

disneybride96

Lurker here!!
;)

When I told DH about this group, he kind of looked at me funny. Still not sure I can get the "buy in" from him. I think because his business is so much talking with people and building relationships that he just wants to get away from it. He is a big talker though, so all it takes is to get him started!

Here's some news....I just got called back for a second interview for a new job. Bad news....no vacation for a year!!!!
We'll have to negotiate that point because I am not missing Cruisetoberfest!

RellingTwin

jeanneg...I think the excitement of the cruise, and the "distance" of the internet tends to make people a bit braver, but when the day get there, and people are going to meet....it can be a little scary. After almost a year "meeting" people on the DIS board, and being very active in planning meets, T-shirts ect...I had a bit of anxiety. Gosh...what if some of these people are clingy, or overbearing, or obnoxious, or weird???!!!After all, it's one thing to swap messages on the boards, it's quite another to spend a week, seeing or dinning with people you have never meet.
I am happy to say, that all of the people on this thread whom I've had the pleasure of sailing with before are ALL very nice, normal people. I have never regreted meeting any of them. YES, there were a few people who surprised me. A few people who posted and joined the "list" did not make any effort to say hello. But more often it was the opposite! One family who did not post at all( but did swap e-mails with me) meet up with us at the Radisson and were SO out going and friendly. We saw them almost everyday and had several nice chats.
Once again I will mention that NO ONE should feel like they have to partisipate in any of the planned activities, or meets. This is YOUR vacation and the activites and meets are open to anyone who wishes to join in.
Many CM's asked about our group and were very interested in learning how we all met.

A BIG WELCOME HOME TO BETTE! Please feel better very soon!::yes::

Eric, say hi to the gang! Have fun at your mini-meet! I am looking forward to the new pictures!

Welcome home Bette and be good. :p

Here in Canada Good Friday is a Statutory Holiday so just about everything is closed except for hospitals and other emergency agencies. Monday the government offices are still closed but our office is open. Darn that. Schools are closed though.

DS started the day off right though. Called me from his best friends where he spent the night and asked me to pick him up. This is not a good sign as his friend only lives one street over. Seems my little darling was playing basketball at the amouries last night before the meeting started and fell and has badly sprained his ankle. It's a level 2 sprain? The doctor at the hospital he went to last night said he was surprised it wasn't broken. DS did not call when this happened because it was "no big deal"! He has to go see the family doctor though about it so we are waiting til the clinic opens at 10am to call. Not sure if our doctor will be working but someone will be. DS is not a happy camper at the moment. He said he couldn't sleep and it hurts. He'll be on crutches for a while and no basketball either for a while which will not make him happy as now that the weather is getting better they go outside and play. Luckily he didn't break it but even then I'm not sure he would have called. :p He has a very wide independent streak in him.

So much for sleeping in. :p

Aw .. Fiona ... that's a shame. Hope it goes well for him. I had a little accident with my ankle once at a tanker truck accident and the doctor actually told me it would have been better to have just broke it ... after a while on crutches I knew what he meant.

appointment is at 1:30pm so we'll see how that goes. He's sleeping now so I'm just going to leave him. My mother broke her ankle years ago and it was an awful break as she had a 3 hour operation on it and was then in the hospital for 10 days and off her ankle for 2 months. Ankle injuries can be a long time healing so hopefully he'll be ok because he's not going to be a good patient like Bette and do everything's he's told. :p

Well, I guess with 4 kids driving it was bound to happen, but my daughter just got our family's first speeding ticket......I, for one, am very thankful she was pulled over because she was clocked at 75 in a 55 and could have done some serious damage......I guess she was just anxious to get back home to momma but that's no excuse. She's going to have to pay every penny of the ticket herself ($140 with court fees) and I know that's gonna make an impression. Here's my question: since it was a first offense, is there any way she can avoid the points on her license and the resultant increase in insurance? It happened in Maryland and her license is from NC. I'd appreciate any advice. Someone said if it happens in another state oftentimes you don't get the points put on, but I have no experience in these matters.

Welcome home, Bette......please take it easy!

Bette,
good to hear that you're home again, but please be careful ::yes::

The Jeffs and DWs say Hi. We spent a wonderful day with them, but ate to much. We went to a 'very' German Gasthaus in a tiny village back in the woods, where they served double-schnitzels. Meaning you get two schnitzels on one plate with a huge mountain of french fries as a side and a salad. Each of the schnitzels was as large as a paperback, and as mentioned before there were two of them on each plate  No more meat for Anja & me for the rest of the weekend!!! We'll have to run some extra-miles tomorrow before breakfast to work those excess-calories off.
The day after tomorrow the Jeffs & DWs are headed for Disneyland Paris to concierge-rooms with permanent fast passes.
Today we even rode about 60 miles with the top down, the weather was much better than predicted, but tomorrow it's going to be rainy. A good opportunity to go to the gym and 'run a movie' - Meaning that we'll arrive for the start of a 90 to 120 minute movie, get on a treadmill and run at 6 mph for the duration of the movie. This really works up some appetite for breakfast.
In the afternoon/evening I'll do the homepage then.

No mail from the newbies so far :(

And once again:
Every group activity which happens during the cruise is VOLUNTARY, but somehow it's a great feeling that you'll have friends virtually everywhere on the boat. We for example will dine with the same wonderful people for the third time. But nevertheless we also spent (and will spenda again) a lot of time at the adults pool just reading a book, getting a tan - and whenever we had a longing to chat a bit or for some activities we always found some friends willing to join us and vice versa.
But everybody should at least appear for the sail-away-party and meet everyone - Just to see what a great bunch we will be once again ;)

I just got a speeding ticket as well: I did 65 (40mph) in a 50 (30mph). It cost me €25 ($30), but no points. And I'm quite mad about it as they posted the speed trap 30 meters (100 feet) in front of a 70-sign. I call that robbery  I'm also for speed traps in front of schools, in housing areas, etc, but this was a four lane exit road with no pedestrian areas near of it - It was just intended to make money for the city's budget. I could waive it by using my attorney, but it's just not worth the effort.

Disneybride96, I started a new job last June. And my week off for last years cruise was mentioned. I told my new boss that I had already paid for the trip, and would not cancel it. She was quite anxious to get me hired on, so she said not to worry about it. We could work it out, and we did. I'm sure things will work out for you too.
Bette, Are you behaving? :p

One more Disboard story. On the CruisEars trip (my first cruise) we were suppose to go on the Western, but Hurricane Lilly changed our route. After a year of planning our excursions, we suddenly had only a few hours to figure out what we wanted to do once we got to St. Thomas. Diser to the rescuse! VondaP whipped together a group of about 30 of us, got us all through, a cab ride, ferry, and another cab ride, to Trunk Bay in St. John's. Once there, we went our our way and enjoyed a day at the beach. Then we regrouped and made our way back to the ship. Not only was it a great adventure, but because of VondaP's guidance we saved a lot of money too! :smooth:

Alan & Jane,
You could order dehydrated water from Germany: It comes in empty plastic-bottles, which you have to fill from your tap - This is the only way to to ship it without having to pay too much postage
:teeth: :hyper: :jester:
Funny fact: Germany's two largest supermarket-chains and Walmart are fighting a heavy battle for market shares using dumping prices for core-products like milk. This led to milk being cheaper than water over here. We already had farmers protesting in front of the company headquarters and demanding gouvernmental regulations to end this.

Wow, time is just flying...Oct will be here before you know it.

I try to keep up with all the posts, but a little hard to do when I only check only once a week. I just have to make more time especially with October creeping ever closer.

Need a little help. I think that on a post I read that a greet'n'meet is planned for everyone wearing a CruisetoberfestIII Tee in the terminal. How do I get the Tee? I think, for me, that will be the best way to get the cruise started meeting fellow cruisers.

I still have some loose ends in my trip planning. Thinking of doing girls trip at WDW before cruising.

Well wishes to everyone in need.

If you want to, I can mail you my snail mail and you just send me pic. I can scan it for you and put it online - No problem.
And here's a tip: I just saw your second post adding that "speedy" to the "recovery". If you discover a mistake in one of your previous posts, just click on the edit-button in the lower right corner of the respective post. This enables you to make changes/deletions/additions. And if you do it within a couple of minutes after having posted it, nobody will see it. If you do it later, a message will appear saying "this post has been edited by JeannieC Date/time".

No problem, Jeanne.
I just sent you my adress - Looking forward to your letter.
Sizewise I'd recommend usual picture-size, in Germany it would be a 9x13, but as we use civilized units of measurement(centimetres in this case) ;) I'd say you should go for something in the range of 4x6 inches :D The filesize will then be determined by the resolution I'm going to use.

BTW,
talking about pictures:
It has become kind of a tradition for me to produce 10 exclusive CDs containing pictures from Germany, Disneyland Paris, all issues of The List and the pictures of all the cruisers sent to me for the homepage.
These CDs will be given away on a first-come/first-serve-basis. Everybody who wants one, should send a short mail to my private email-account as shown on The List or state his/her wish here on the thread.

Help! Does anyone dive? My Dh wants to go (which means learning how and getting certified prior to) and I was wondering if anyone has gone on any dive tours ofered by Disney? Do you get to dive a lot or iwould it be better to just snorkel? I know we have to take quite a few classes, so we have to get started soon, and was looking for some opinions from those who know or know those who would! Also, has anyone seen anything on excursions while in Antiqua? Thanks, Denise

Eric -- I want one too. Please.....

Also wishing you good luck on the root canal. Not much fun at all.

Hope everyone had a good Easter.

Hope you had a good birthday Bette and you were good with your back (but bad otherwise)!

Just tried to call to arrange physio for my DS but nobody answered the phone so am not sure if they are open today or not. He's anxious to start so that he can start putting weight on his foot again. The bruises are really coming out though.

Back to work. Boy do I not want to be here today. Nice and sunny out today although still a tad cool.

Eric: good luck with the root canal.....ugh! My son got back from his trip to Europe. He said he was able to shop in Berlin using what little Spanish he knows...????? Go figure.......

Fiona: glad you have nice weather in Canada....it's been raining hard and heavy all day here in Raleigh.

Denise: the only diving I plan to do is into my conch coolers!

Denise, My DH dives, and my DD is getting certified this summer. Last year my family, twin sister's family and Eric and Anja did a combination dive/snorkle trip in Cozamel. We had 3 divers and 7 non divers. The trip was nothing short of fantastic. OK, the boat could have been a little nicer, but it kind of grew on you. But this was a trip my sister booked online with a very small operation, not connected to Disney. Sis and I have been activily looking for a similar trip in either St. Thomas or Antigua. I've sent a few places e-mails, but no responses yet. I would be happy to let you know if we find anything interesting.
Jeanniec, don't feel like the only one not getting this computer stuff. Last year I had my sister send the pictures. I can't remember if she used the computer or regular mail. The post office will tell you what the cost of mailing a letter is. Last time I mailed one to Germany it cost about $1. Depends on the weight.
Gosh, look at me running at the mouth again.

Must be a week for dentists...I had a toothache since Good Friday and of course, my dentist wasn't back until today (Monday) --whole left side of my face was killing me on Saturday and by Easter Sunday, when I got up for Mass, I looked like a chipmunk that was storing nuts in his cheeks for the winter--my face was all swollen and my left eye was just a slit--I planned on going into work today and got up at 6:00 a.m. and took one look at myself and thought "no way"--I'm sure my boss wasn't too thrilled with me since we have several large projects that we are working on but oh well. I called my dentist (who is actually 1/2 block from my house) and they told me to come right over--ended up having an abcess in my wisdom tooth and got a 2:00 appointment and had it pulled--now I just look like a chipmunk who has bruising on the cheek! Timing couldn't be better since Sarah receives Confirmation on Tuesday night and I look and feel like I did a few rounds with a fighter--people will think that I was beat up!!

Bette...hope you had a great birthday..sorry we missed it and hope you're feeling better.

Eric..how did the root canal go? The extraction was really painless...they put a mask with mist over my nose and started the IV and I was totally relaxed...next thing I knew the doctor walked out and it was over...didn't even realize that he had pulled it!! But now I am feeling the pain!! I was going to go into work on Tuesday but the oral surgeon suggested that I take the day and rest and my boss thought that it was a good idea since I stopped at the hospital to pick up my Rx and he saw my face and I gave him my excuse. Think that I'll stay in bed and watch movies!!

Hey, we're getting certified in May and doing our open water in June in Utah. Since we will be diving newbies, I was a bit leary of the DCL sponsored dive(sounds a bit deep for me!), but I found a shore dive at www.cokidive.com in St Thomas. I did a bit of research, and most have said good things. We will be snorkling in Antigua (we booked the Eco-tour on our own.) Anyway, our first "real dive" will be at Epcot Dive Quest when we first get to WDW before our 9/25 cruise....I can't wait!!!!

The PADI scuba classes for us here in Colorado consist of a full weekend (classroom and pool work), then a two day open water certification. We are doing the open water in Utah because I can't imagine what diving in a murky Colorado city "lake" would be like. Scary things...I used to be a boat ranger at one of the state parks here....people would release their exotic fresh water fish and other creepy things in the resevior. Icky.

Check out www.cokidive.com They also have a scuba dive for those not certified.

Less then 25 weeks to go everyone!!!

I hope everyone had a happy Easter/Passover.

Kids go back to school tomorrow:bounce: :teeth:

One of the things I liked very much about the dive trip we went on was that there was 1 "master diver" for 3 divers on our boat. Compare this to 1 "master diver" per 12 divers on the DCL tours. Since 2 of our divers were newbies, this was an important factor.
That dive/snorkel trip in Cozumel was the highlight of our vacation. We hope to find one like it this year.

Mary Jo...I hope you are feeling better soon. Eric...good luck tomorrow. I will be seeing my dentist next week

Eric, lots of stuff going on with the "Hunley" this week. They are getting ready for a formal burial for the crew. It will very likley be the last authentic Conferderate burial.

Good luck with the conformation on Tuesday night Sarah! Hope that the jaw pain gets better. Mike

Jill,
this looks great!!! We did our PADI Open Water last year in Florida and will do a some dives in Crystal River on 09/12 and 09/13/04, and hopefully also in PCB with Mark. Another couple of dives in St T would be great.
BTW, there's also a nice snorkeling opportunity in WDW at Typhoon Lagoon.

Mary & Ave' and Fridayfun,
please check it out too.

Root canal went fine - so far!!
The problem was that it was under a crown. So he had to drill through the crown., because he wanted to avoid removing the crown. This left him with a small opening to work in, but he managed it. My dentist is great, fortunately he's right now getting a special degree for root canals. He was excited because he could use the work on my tooth for his dissertation papers. Although he is well over fifty and really experienced, he never stops learning.
Now we'll have to wait for two weeks and then -hopefully- he can remove the pins he put there and close everything permanently.
But that's fine with me as I wanted to lose another 10 pounds before the next race ;)
BTW, no aenastesia (Spelling?) for the whole 90 minutes, but it was OK. Especially as I had to drive to work after the treatment.

Hi Guys, Kim here...

Updates on bettemom, She actually is doing pretty well and listening to what she can and can't do fairly well, as long as you do not turn your back on her. Her Physical therapist came to the house yesterday and her pelvis and hip joints have stayed in place and not popped out again so that is looking good. Her visiting Nurse comes later this week and hopefully her news will be good also...She will still be on activity limitations for a few more weeks but things are improving. She just needs to get strength back, she tires out pretty quickly still...

Saturday I started stripping all the old clapboards from the driveway side of the house spend most all the day working outside and had about 75 % stripped.
Sunday my brother joined me and we finished stripping the rest of the wood and installing the Tyvek house wrap. Early afternoon a couple friends joined us to help with the Tyvek for the 2nd floor, I can't do ladders since my ankle fusion...

My brother Kevin had positioned his ladder climbed up around 12-14 feet and BOOM !!! the laddder slid right down the house and he fell to the driveway asphalt SPLAT !!.. So again the ambulance comes off we go to the hospital, mom is still supposed to be in bed, ( NOT) after we find out that Kevin did not break his neck, she goes home with one of our friends and then Mark( another friend) stays at the hospital with me. Kevin had CAT scans, and tons of x rays, and had to have his LEFT palm sewn up, it hit the pavement and exploded into a jagged tear, so after about 6 hours in hospital, we brought him back home with stitches, a black eye, half his face swollen to a blimp, a very strained back, sore ribs and a broken elbow ( his RIGHT elbow of course) ... All in all he is so lucky to be alive !!!

So guys nothing dull around here, I am taking a couple days off from the lab and working from home so I can assist in the infirmary at the McBride home...

Hopefully we will be back to normal fairly soon, more than anything we are counting the days till the cruise !!!

Bye, Kim

P.S. Hope everyone else is doing fine with Dentist problems, and we will get back to normal postings soon...

We could bring our own gear and do our own thing while the divers dive!If we bring our own stuff, then transportation and chair rental is the only cost. Probably under $100 for my whole family to spend the day there!:bounce: Also we could come and go as we like!

Kim,
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* to your brother and to Bette.
As a member of our company's security council I learned during a seminar that more people in Germany get killed by ladder-accidents than by any other professionally used appliance. We have very strict rules about most ladders only to be used by two people: One on the ladder, the second holding the ladder or securing the first guy with a rope like a mountaneer. Unfortunately many -if not most- workers consider speed more important than safety and so the numbers aren't changing :(

Kim -- pixie dust to your brother and mother. What a hospital ward you must be running now.

Mary Jo -- pixie dust to you on the wisdom tooth. IV's are great for dental surgery!!

Eric - glad the root canal went well. Except for the tooth extraction I rarely get freezing. Had the pulptomy (spelling?) in January without any freezing as well as most fillings no freezing. I have a great dentist. Tooth extractions though I want to go right under and not be aware of anything!:p

Everyone else good luck with your dentists. It's all happening now so that everyone will be healthy on the cruise.

Booked a physio appt for my DS for Thursday. Luckily it's covered under my work benefits because it's not cheap. $75 for the first visit and $50 for each thereafter. DS is anxious to get started because he's now realizing that when the dr. said it would probably be a month before he was feeling better he wasn't kidding. Back to school today so we'll see how that goes with the crutches etc.

Back to work for me. Raining here today -- and there was white stuff on the cars this morning. Yuck!

Hi Eric, I am having stop blocks put into the driveway so no ladder can slip again. We should have safety laws here, but in New Hampshire they allow NO ONE to tell them waht to do... Not such a good idea...

Can we also get on the CD list ??

Eric -- You might be interested to know that one of the nurses here has a husband who is an attorney for a ladder company, and he deals entirely with ladder accident cases. I could harldy believe it when I heard it -- a ladder lawyer -- but I guess ladder accidents are really big time. I suppose a lot of people who have the accidents try to blame the company when they are actually careless in using the ladders. My son is a painter and I hate it when he goes up on ladders, especially since he is a rather clumsy person.

Jeanne,
American lawsuits are very often laughed about over here ;)
Some of them are so ridiculous, that often people think it is a hoax, but after checking it out you usually find that it is true
 Working for an American company in the aviation-business I know, that we are paying an arm and a leg for insurance due to this fact.

MaryJo,
you're on the CD-List - 5 more available!!

I just wrote to the Coki Beach Dive Club asking the following questions:
-How large a group can you handle ?
-How many divers, respectively snorkerlers will a guide take care of?
-Are there any group rebates available?
-What happens to our deposit, if the ship can't make it to St Thomas due to a hurricane?
-How much is transportation back to ship/shopping district?
-How long in advance do you need our reservation?

I told them that we'll be about 10 divers and 10 snorkelers, but hinted that we may well be more. I'll keep everyone posted.

BTW, got your package and still reading it over - thanks loads.

Kim ... What's up with that! I checked with the weather up there ard saw that big black cloud over your house. Geez, tell everyone to be careful. Give your brother and Mom a hug for us - but not too hard so as to cause another bruise.

Fiona ... How's the son's ankle? How's Jim doing?

My next stop is more blood work to see if my CRP and uric acid levels are better and then to the cardiologist ... keep putting that thought in the back of my mind.

OK Folks,
Here's a another reason to book the tour with Coki-Dive: Laura of Coki-Dive replied within an hour, that's IMHO proof for their efficiency. Here's what she wrote:

Hi Eric,
Thank you for inquiring about the Coki Beach Dive Club. We offer all beach diving which has two reefs in front of the beach at no swimming distance in about 30 to 50 feet. Since you are all certified you have the option to go on a guided tour for $40.00 (includes all gear and guide), second dive $20.00 or rent the gear you need and go out on your own.
The rental gear fees are:
bcd $10
reg $10
tank and weights $10
We can organize a pick up meeting in front of the gang way at 8.30. On your way back to the ship you will have to get a cab ($7.00 per person), but we could arrange your way back with the driver that will bring you out. The pick up service would be free if you book a guided tour. We charge $10.00 for the riders that just want to hang out at the beach ( on top of that $10.00 if they wish to rent snorkeling gear) or if you want to rent dive gear.
The max number of divers would be 24 and we would offer a 10% discount.
Let us know if you also have beginner divers, if so, it is important for them to check the medical form on our web site www.cokidive.com , just to make sure they do not suffer from any medical problem that would keep them from diving.
If you are interested, we will ask you to fill out the reservation form on our web site www.cokidive.com , but we will not charge your credit card, we would use it only in case of no-show, charging $10.00 per person. Of course, we would not charge you if we have to cancel the tour due to weather conditions.
A month ahead of time would be enough time to make your reservation.
Let me know if you need further info. Thank you and have a nice day,
Laura

I'd say we take the tour and a second dive for the divers, which would be $60 and if we're enough people it's - 10% = $54, but even without the rebate it's a good deal.
Anja and I obtained our PADI OWD last year at the beginning of our four-week-vacation and did a similar tour covering two dives on Cozumel - and it was great and not in the least exhausting!!! The price sounds very good, especially if you consider that St Thomas usually isn't what one would call inexpensive ;) Two dives leave us with enough time for getting back to the shopping district and to the ship in time. The snorklers can stay close with us and transportation to/from the dive-site is taken care of.

I'd say we do the ressies like this:
-Everybody who wants to go mails his intentions to me. Please use the regular antiguaorbust@yahoo.com -account for it. Just state the number of adult divers, junior-divers, adult snorkelers and junior snorkelers, and your family-name.
-I'll collect all this data for the next three weeks. Deadline is 05/04/04.
-Then I'll forward this list to Laura to certify for the group rebate.
-I'll arrange a code with Laura for the group rebate and then everybody can book using her/his credit-card and aforementioned code. This way no single person has to advance the big deposit required for such a large group, Laura simply can check the people against the List provided, the responsibility for showing-up and not forfeiting the deposit rests solely with the respective divers/snorkelers.

If any newbies (Or late-bies ;)) want to join us later , there shouldn't be a problem as long as we do not exceed the group-size as stated by Laura, but nevertheless I'd appreciate everybody who's on The List right now trying to meet the deadline mentioned above. It would make planning for me and for Laura easier - And No, I don't get a commission .:jester: I'm just typically German and like to plan ahead - LOL

I'll send a Newsletter sometime this week informing everyone about this and promoting it.

We're really looking forward to dive with all of you. I think about getting one of those small Canon Ixus digicams (I think they are called Canon Powershot in the US) with 4 to 5 megapixels as a small back-up for my Nikon 5700. There's a housing available for those cams certified down to 135 feet, which would mean that I could take pics of all of us under water - Of course I'd 'shoot' the ladies only with their permission ;)

OK, gotta go to bed now, I just picked Anja up at the hospital and tomorrow's a long day: I'll have to make good some time I 'lost' at my dentist, run at least 4 miles, play Badminton with some of my co-workers and then it's another DVD-night with Gramps before I pick up Anja again from the late-shift.

Hi everyone!

1) I'm fine.

2) Seal cull: True that they've authorized a large cull this year... that's because there's no cod fish stock left. What's really overshadowing the cull is the "Khadr Issue"... it's a really long story about a Canadian 'citizen' who was released from Guantanamo Bay after he said he wasn't a terrorist and then publicly announced that his father was a close associate of Osama Bin Laden. The father died recently in Pakistan in a firefight with the Pakistan army and a 14-year-old son was paralized while he was shooting at the army also, but the 14-year-old is guileless and didn't know what he was doing. They've brought the 14-year-old back from Pakistan so he can get in on our free health care. But he's not a terrorist, and his sister says 9/11 was deserved. I'm p***ed about it and I'm waiting to see what the government is going to do. If you want the whole story, go to www.thestar.com and enter 'Khadr' in their search box. Oh, the seal thing is like on the back page.

3) On a more exciting note, the West Indies skipper Brian Lara hit a record 400 not out when they declared their first innings at 751-5 in the fourth test against England. It was the third day of the match at St. John's, Antigua. The attendance was a capacity 12,000, half from England and the other half from Antigua. Considering that the entire population of the island is something like 70,000, it'll give you an idea of how popular cricket is, especially when it's the third day of the test.

4) I don't do ladders from a long way back, so I can appreciate any one who does.

5) Hope everyone gets better.

This should catch me up for a bit. I don't post a lot because the board continually tells me I'm not logged in and clears my messages. I've got a low tolerance for this. :)

Jim.

Jim.

Jim,
how can you use 'exciting' and 'Cricket' in the same post  For Non-Commonwealth people it is more fun to watch paint dry or grass grow :jester: I once again tried to follow it when we were in London, because we only had about 10 channels on our TV and on one the showed a lot of Cricket, but I once again got bored rapidly ;)

Environmentalist often don't get it that overprotecting a species also is negative interference with the eco-system When there are so many seals that there is no cod left, this is proof enough.

Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone that had tooth/dentist problems is feeling better now.

Haley had her first stomach virus this week so it's been tough. Something must be going around because he doctor's office was packed when I brought her Monday. Of course Mommy wound up getting it too since we were so close. I'm actually feeling better today. Haley's still sleeping so hopefully she'll be better when she gets up too.

Gotta go.

Pixie dust to you Renee and Haley. Been there, done that, not pleasant at all!

DS overdid it yesterday and his ankle was really bothering him this morning so he's resting it. A girl at school told him yesterday that it will probably take him 4-6 weeks to recover which didn't thrill him at all. He wants to be outside playing basketball and he can't start driving lessons either.

Eric -- Jim is right, seals didn't really make the news here but the cod fishery does because when they banned cod fishing about a decade ago the cod fisherman were told that it would only be for a few years to let the stocks go up -- well they are still waiting. For Newfoundland it's a large part of their economy with all the spin off jobs so it's been hard.

Khadr family saga is all the big news here. Free medical care is the big issue although they do have to wait 3 months to get it.

Must get back to work. It's piling up again.

I take one day away from the boards to spend quality time with my DH and I am so behind! I am glad that it sounds like everyone's ailments are getting better, it does seem the time of year to get sick, just when you are ready to go out in the warm spring air (when you have it for more than one hour) something knocks you down! I myself haven't been able to breathe in days, all the things growing have my asthma going crazy! Hopefully I got us some spaces in the dive/snorkel adventure. Until I see the doc, don't know which it will be! My DH said it sounded great! A few more weeks and I might even get him to post a note or something! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Take care:wave2:

Ok, it's been a while since I joined the list and started lurking. We booked airline tickets so I can officially get excited now. Got $227 roundtrips from Reno. Whoo Hoo, that's better than we did in 2001 without a red-eye this year. We don't get into Orlando until 7:30 so I'll probably just book something near the airport for the overnight.

Eric, I'll send you info to join the dive trip for myself and two of our kids. They did an intro dive in Hawaii last year and are getting certified for their birthday's this summer. Diving together was a highlight of our trip last year. One of our guides caught an octypus and we saw two turtles. The ten-year-old surprised me how well she took to it even though they swim competitively and are super swimmers.

I'll try to stay somewhat active and share in the excitement. My DW and MIL are going on a three-night carnival out of LA that MIL won at work in two weeks so I'm sure they'll be spun up for the Magic on their return. I get to take the kids to a swim meet in Boise, ID the same weekend. Seven-hour drive and working the deck at a swim meet all weekend, while they cruise on carnival. I think I get the better deal, Ha Ha. We spend a lot of time traveling to swim meets but love every minute of it.

I teach at a school named Pixie School in Lebanon, TN. (no joke). We are currently on Spring Break. I've been in my classroom today doing some spring cleaning... brings a whole new meaning to the words "pixie dust"!

My license plate on the front of my van says "PIXIE SCHOOL". It tears the people at the cruise line gate up every time!!!

We've been looking at the atlas tonight plotting our cruise and don't know how we'll make it through the summer!!!

Then they wanted to do me a favour ;) and change my hard-disk partition. Whoah, and off to nirvana it went  But this leaves we with enough time for filing away the mountains I collected in our to-be-filed-baskets - And additionally I'll have the pleasure to spend Saturday at the office

She is drinking a lot of Pedialyte (like Gatorade) and white grape juice. Her doctor was happy to see how much she's been drinking of it. She said as long as she keeps drinking it, then she'll be well hydrated.

Eric-
The eco-tour excursion we booked in Antigua can be found at www.adventureantigua.com It is a snorkling tour that includes a buffet lunch on a beach and some hiking (although is seems like some very light hiking...no Colorado Mountains on this one). Pick up is at 10 am, drop off at 4:15. It is $90 pp, with a $20 deposit due at booking, the remainder due in cash or travellers checks the date of the tour. I read through the cancellation policy and you will be refunded your deposit if the ship fails to make it to Antigua, you will also be refunded your deposit should you choose to cancel, however, 24 hour notice must be given or you will lose your deposit. No shows will lose deposit.

I must say, I am pretty excited for this one. They will book a max of 25 people per excursion (so it won't be too crowded), and the lunch sounds yummy! Oh, and you get at 10% discount if you book through their web site.

Since DCL has not released any excursions for Antigua yet, we may end up switching if we see something we like better, but I doubt it.

Gotta go and vacuum....getting our carpets cleaned today. Having a 95 lb dog and two cats is not nice to your carpets.

Sounds great,
how can we make sure that we're in a group with the other DISers? And how many of our group have already booked? I think I'm going to book it tomorrow or during the weekend.
Hiking shouldn't be a problem for us, we run between 20 and 30 miles a week.
I know what you mean when talking about hiking in CO. During my stay in Denver last year we went to Rocky Mountain National Park with my boss, who already has done more than 20 of your 50 or so 14,000 ft+ peaks - intending to conquer them all. We drove there with our rental and only walked about two or three miles at both of our stops. But walking in the 12,000 feet + range was like running at full pace in Frankfurt (Elev 364 ft). The next weekend when our boss was gone, we took the Cog Railway up Pikes Peak, and we both had some wobbly knees during our first steps up there ;)
I also went for a run every other morning before breakfast, just 3 or 4 miles around our hotel in Englewood, but it felt like 6 or 8 in Frankfurt.

My PC at work got fixed shortly before I left, but I'll have to work on Saturday anyway. It's no problem as Anja has to work too, and I'll give her the usual weekend-lift to the hospital ;) And the weekend after next I'll probably there again - But more overtime also means more cocktails and more souvenirs during the cruise :teeth:
BTW, this month I'll get my annual tax-shock: In April we get an extra monthly payment, which is usually paid before xmas (Called xmas-money in Germany, but our company pays it in April. Then we get an annual subsidiary for vacations, lunch and commuting cost, and then there is our success-sharing- All added to our regular salary, which then drives our tax-quota into the highest regions  But as our CEO once said: 'I'd rather pay lots of taxes on a high inccome, than no taxes on no income!' ;)
But I'm also filing my IRS-report within the next weeks, which should give us a nice refund shortly before the cruise.

Bed-time now, we had our usual Thursday-workout: 5miles and an hour of The Pump - Now we're wasted and need some sleep.

See Y'all tomorrow on the Boards

Here is an e-mail from the Coki Beach folks.

Hello! We will be visiting you in Oct with a group of divers and snorkelers from the Disney Magic. We are in the process of getting everyone organized to make their reservations, but I have a few questions about the beach itself. Are there umbrellas and chairs for rent? If so can you give me an idea of the cost? Also, it there anyplace to buy food and or drinks? Are alcoholic beverages allowed on the beach?
Thank you for your attention to these questions.
Mary
Hi Mary,
Coki Beach is a public beach, there are different vendors that rent chairs, umbrellas and that sell food and drinks (with alcoholic and without -smoothies). Probably the cost per day for the chair is $10.00 , same for the umbrella.
If you are interested in diving for beginners, please make sure to check the medical form on our web site www.cokidive.com , just to make sure that anyone that is interested is not suffering from any medical problem that would keep them from diving.
Thank you and have a nice day,
Laura

Eric,
When I finished High School in Colorado Springs I worked as a laborer on the PPRR for a summer. Imagine working at that altitude. We had some days when we would leave the bottom of the hill in t-shirts and get snowed on above the tree line. Our ride up wasn't in one of those nice trains either. We rode on a flatbed without any creature comforts. I still thank that job for making me see the light and go back to school. Sent you an e-mail for the dive trip tonight.

Hi Rosemary -- glad that you had a good trip.

We've just booked OKW for Oct 10-15 so we will be staying after the cruise. We rented points from a Diser here in Canada who unfortunately can't use his points b/c he's waiting for a knee operation. We still need a place to stay on the Saturday night after the cruise as it was going to be way too much money to stay at OKW for that night. Really looking forward to it though.

Fiona,
try this LINK (http://www.sevillainn.com) , it will lead you to the Sevilla Inn a nice motel located in Kissimmee. We stayed there in 95, 97, 99 and 01. It's clean, inexpensive, and just 15 minutes from WDW, there's lots of eateries around it, and DownTownDisney is also just 10 to 15 minutes away. It should be OK for a night.

Hi Rosemary,
good to hear from you

Van,
I wouldn't want to work there, but I guess as soon as your body has adapted to the thin stuff you mountain people call air :teeth: and built up the necessary hemoglobin-level it should be manageable.
BTW, shall I ask the Dive-Center to fill your tanks with "Diet-Air"? :jester:

Peter,
that sounds very affordable. We'll go to the Baltic Sea in June to get a tan - hopefully the weather will be right for it in the short week we're going to spend there.

Mary,
how comes that you're inquiring about booze on the beach ;)
Change of topic: Is there an exhibition of the 'Hunley'? And is it really correct -they reported this in a German magazine- that with the funeral of the crew, the last order issued by/to the Confederate Army will be executed?

Update on DS -- went to physio yesterday which went ok except that the physiotherapist thinks there might be a stress facture because of the nature of the swelling. We won't know for another week though. He's to go 3 times next week and then we'll see where the swelling and pain is at. He was not too thrilled when she said that it would probably be 12 weeks before he's playing basketball again although he should be off crutches long before then. He has exercises he's supposed to do but he was warned not to over do it.

He went last night to the amouries where they had a swimming test which the physiotherapist told him to skip. Did he? Nope, course not -- he just didn't use his leg to swim two lengths and tread water for 5 minutes. His ankle was sore this morning not surprisingly. :p

His one comment was that the ankle felt better when he was wearing the army boots. The next few weeks could be interesting.

Back to work so I can get to the Jays game.

They just had the funneral for the submarinars who died on the Hunley. George was stopped for gas and he saw a truck load of Confederate soldiers in antique uniforms, getting out of a truck at the gas station. Yes, the final orders of the confederacy were given during the ceromony. The HUnley is on display at the former Charleston Naval base. We will get tickets before you get here.We have not see it yet, and your visit gives us a great excuse to go see it.

Mike,
what about joining us on St. Thomas for our combined dive/snorkel-excursion? You said that you were thinking about refreshing your diving skills. I'll send a mail to everyone tonight laying out the details.

Mary,
we're looking forward to see the Hunley. It's good to see that you're facing the same problem as we: We usually only see the sights of Frankfurt and Germany when we have visitors from abroad. In everyday life its just .... everyday life ;)
And I may join you for a beer or two after the dive pirate:

Fiona,
tell your DS to take it slow. Bones mend quickly, but tendons and ligaments need time!!

Cathy,
we already started collecting gifts, but we have to do all the wrapping in the States. US Customs recommend not to wrap gifts for inspection purposes, and additionally we want to avoid having to pay duties for them ;) So we're bringing a lot of stuff 'intended for personal use' :teeth: Usually we fly to the States with two large pieces of luggage - and then return with four after all the shopping. Hmmm.....interesting conversation.....what sort of "toys" should I be collecting to bring to CC?
Is there any room left on the dive trip? How many people going are non-divers (we would only snorkel)? And (last ?, I promise!) what are the hours for the excursion? Since we will definitely be doing something in Antigua and we're been to St Thomas several times before, we're actually considering staying on the ship and having it pretty much to ourselves. so far 9 divers, 8 snorkelers - Plenty of room left - Mail will follow later - have to watch DVD now.
Toys on CC: Anja & I bought a foam-like ball on the ship which we took to CC. If you let this ball soak up enough water and throw it at someone it is a lot of fun. But if you squeeze out the water, it's just a fluffy piece of foam - So you'll never know what's coming at you :teeth:
Cathy was kind of disappointed when we came back aboard and the balls were sold out. So know she's beefing up her arsenal well before the cruise pirate:
Are you still looking forward to cruise with us ? :jester:

Jill,
what about the eco-tour? Did you book? ?How can we make sure to do the tour with our fellow cruisers? And will there be time for some shopping? We need at least the mandatory T-shirts ::yes::

I sent them an email today to ask how/if we could all be scheduled on the same tour. I believe the booking offices are closed on the weekend, so I may not hear back until Monday. I get the impression they schedule one trip a day, which would mean if anyone books for the Oct 5 tour, we will all be on the same boat. I will get this confirmed with their reply Monday, however. That would also mean their would be a passenger capacity of 24. I also inquired about shops near the pick up/drop off site, which is at the Redcliffe Quay Boardwalk....
It will be a tight fit for shopping, however. The Eco Tour states they will have us back at about 4:15, and the DCL site has us leaving Antigua at 5:30. (St Thomas will be my shopping paradise....Tim will be buying me some diamonds or a watch or something....he just doesn't know it yet;) )

We did book the tour this week. It requires a $20 per person deposit with a credit card through a secure booking site, and they are very prompt on responses and replies.

I'll post what I hear back from the Eco Tour folks.

Thanks for the info, Jill. I think we'll join you. Perhaps we'll be enough people to fill that boat. We'll wait for you posting their reply to your questions and then we'll book. Shopping-wise I assume that there will be vendors close to the ship or we'll buy a DCL-Antigua-T-Shirt which will surely be availabe on the ship - Disney isn't exactly known for leaving out such an opportunity;)

I just sent the info about our St Thomas-shore-excursion.
We watched 'Intolerable Cruelty' tonight and liked it very much. It flopped in the cinemas over here, but I had to buy it for Anja -The Clooney-thing, you know;) Now I wonder about it flopping, because we liked it very much.

Yesterday our Hockey-team -The Frankfurt-Lions- won the German Championship in the final play-offs, winning 3 out of 4 matches. This is kind of a miracle, because after last season they had to leave the Premier League. Then one club went bankrupt between the seasons and they were allowed to return. It's the first time ever that a team from Frankfurt won that championship and everybody's very proud of them.
But now the Icehockey-season really is over: We had 24°C/75°F today and when I waited for Anja in the hospital parking lot, my car's exterior thermometer even registered 28°C/82°F :sunny: I cruised along the Autobahn with the windows down and no windblocker at 80mph :smooth:

Sounds like fun, as alway, planning for the cruise. Wish we were going with ya again! Believe it or not, we just got back the pictures today from Stingray City. Brought back great memories.

Anyway, this is for PADisneyFan and anyone else who may be interested in Port Orleans - French Quarters. I wrote up a little report about our visit to the resort.

Hi everyone. I have been just lurking for the past couple of weeks. Alot of things going on. Glad that everyone is on the mend.

We are not doing any planning of excursions right now. I have 3 trips planned in the near future. Next week Norm and I are going to Williamsburg for a long weekend. Our RCCL cruise and WDW trip in May and then I am only home for less than a week and leave for a conference in Tampa. So am trying to get all those things planned.

Plus the first week in May we need to move both boys back from college and get DS#1 wisdom teeth removed so he has time to recover before our cruise. The next few weeks are going to fly by for us.

Rosemary--- Thanks for the link to your POFQ review. Norm and I will be staying there for 6 days after our May cruise. We stayed there for 2 days in Oct 2002 and really enjoyed it but the room was in need of new carpet. So will be nice to stay in the redone rooms. Thanks again.

The weather in PA has been really nice the past couple of days. Hopefully spring has arrived.

Well, hockey season is over for us now that the Devils lost to the Flyers in the playoffs. :( Good thing the weather is very nice :sunny: to get me in a good mood.

Lenny goes to Atlanta tomorrow for the week for class. The other ones that were supposed to happen last month got cancelled so this is the first time we'll be separated. Haley seems to know something is up since she's been attached to her Daddy all weekend.

We call them 'dust mice' over here and I don't know where they come from, but they multiply like hell :jester:
Peter,
are you also suspicious, that all our fellow cruisers just fake their ailments to have all those nurses in our group take care of them?
BTW,my root canal worked out great, everything feels great and I'm looking forward to my next appointment with my dentist in 10 day to get the final filling.
The DCL-DVD is GREAT!!! Tomorrow I have to bring it to the office, 3 coworkers are already waiting for it. Those poor guys, they don't know yet what they're in for as soon as they've shown it to their wives: A very expensive vacation ;) but worth every penny.
They can't expect to get such a good price as Anja & I :teeth:

This afternoon we arrived at the gym and those jer*s lost our reservation for the badminton-court  So we only ran 7 miles. So no badminton this week, because I can't play with our company-team on Wednesday as I have to attend a seminar called 'Navigating New Frontiers', a mandatory training program to prepare our company for the future. I guess it will be interesting and fun, but I'm surely gonna miss the workout. The seminar will be done in English twice and then about 10 times or so in German. I volunteered for the English one, because I expect it to be a bit more demanding.

I just have one question: FUN FOR WHOM?!? I thought I read somewhere that according to the rules you're not allowed to hit anybody over 50!

As far as the toys go, I plan to visit my local Dollar Tree before the cruise and pick up a bunch of cheap floats and rafts. When I'm done using them, I can just toss them or pass them on to someone with kids.

Jeanne,
sorry, but I didn't start that war!!! Cathy sneaked up on me on CC in 2001 and flipped my float over, thus dunking me. So I had to retaliate somehow!!!
We usually don't score direct hits with the ball, the art lies in making the impact close to your victim, causing a big splash :teeth:
And sorry again: Although we try to avoid collateral damage, we don't give any guarantees. Neither can we take special care of people ..hm (How shall I express it PC?) .. who are historically challenged :hyper:
But after having read Cathy's post I consider informing the UN inspectors and have them check her house for WMD (Water Missiles, Disney-style) :jester:

Hello all. Here is the info from www.adventureantigua.com regarding the questions I asked about others getting on the tour for 5 Oct and what shops may be around....

We only use one boat with a max of 25 people. We still have lots of space left and I am sure that if your extra friends book now you will be with all of them for October 5th on the Eco Tour. There are shops in Heritage Quay and Redcliffe Quay which is right where your ship docks and they close around 4:30 - 5pm, we will have you back by 4:15pm the latest right next to your ship and the shopping areas. Let me know what their names are and how many there are.

I will leave the booking up to those who would like to go. You can book on line through their site or you can also contact them at info@antiguaadventures.com They offer a 10% discount off the $90 price for those who book online. If anyone books, post it here so we know!

We just bought a sony handycam for the cruise! Can't wait to use it on the trip! I think the dog is getting tired of hamming up to the camera...he's the only thing we've recorded so far!

DS is progressing as well. He came upstairs to say goodnight without crutches! He's probably pushing it a bit but the swelling has gone way down and the bruising is starting to fade except by his toes. He's been doing his exercises which is good because he really wants to be back playing basketball asap.

Work is busy which is good. Just went over the calendar with another lawyer in the office -- he gave me a scare when he said you know fall might not be a good time for vacation as we are going to be busy. This is true but I'm still going, this year. Might not be able to go next year though but I'll worry about that later.

Must go get DS up and going.

Ave' -- when are you going to WDW? We leave May 1 with our DD, DS and DGS. It will be fun to get together for a family vacation again. Now that the kids are older, we don't do that very often. Staying at OKW and will do all the parks so we are able to watch the magic in our DGS's eyes -- especially at MK, of course! When the two of us go, we don't do much in the way of parks.

Eric -- Do we need to duck? Are transplanted midwesterners (Chicago) Yankees who will be shot at? By the way, I got your address. Meant to send a picture over the weekend but never got to it. Need to look for one first.

Fiona -- Glad to hear that your DS is doing so much better. Great news!

Kim -- Whatever happened to the tour, shopping, beach vacation? Did we ever get enough people for a busload?

Bette -- It's great that you are feeling almost back to normal!

Hi Guys, Kim here...

Cathy, Kathy, Ave, Mary and any other ladies interested...

This is mostly geared toward the ladies in our group , I found a source for those nice foam balls that Viking used to get people with last year on the adult beach, I couldn't help myself and had to order some since they were so dirt cheap... Anyone ladies interested in having a couple ????, I also found some really cheap beach sport toys for the water that float, any interest in a water toy ?? My thought is I am not bringing these things back home with me, I will find some child and pass off the toys when we are finished and then the kids parents have to figure out how to take the toys back ( LOL)....

Ave: you just put me in a time warp! When I was just a teeny bopper (do people still use that phrase?) MANY years ago, I was MADLY in love with Paul Revere and the Raiders!!!!! I actually unexpectedly saw them perform at Disneyland about 10 years ago, but the only original member was Paul Revere himself and I think he had his son with him. I was at the Ed Sullivan show (talk about memory lane!) when they appeared in NY circa 1966 and managed to catch a few other area performances. Please let me know if Mark is still with the group and if he still has his ponytail!

Arlene--- The York Fair is the oldest continous running Fair in the Country. PA doesn't have a state fair, but alot of towns have big fairs every year. Our fair is very popular and get alot of big name performs. It used to only be a 7 day fair, now goes for 10 days.

jeanneg--- Muskifest is right in Bethelem. I started off wanting to go to that show. Since it would be close to DS#1 college and could stay at his apartment. However, that venue is very small and has been a major pain to try to get tickets. It has memberships that people join and they get first pick on tickets, so by the time I could buy any they will be sold out. Someone mentioned Hootie and the Blowfish, they are actually performing at Muskifest also. Below is a link to their website.

Jeanne:

Mark Lindsey played as a solo act but he was 1 act amoung 3 or 4 other groups. Some of the other groups were the Shangri-La's and Gary Lewis and the Playboys. For the life of me I cant remember any of the others. I do remember that we both enjoyed the night. When Gary Lewis was playing some idiot guy wanted him to autograph his 45 cover while he was singing. Gary Lewis indicated to the guy he would definetely do it when he was done this guy got so pissed he ripped up the 45 cover.

Nancy:

When is Clay performing. I looked on the website for the York fair and it didnt show any dates....

Cruisetoberfest II Story: After dinner one night, DH and childrenwent to bed. But I was NOT ready to go to sleep yet. So I went up on deck. I found Bette and Kim, on deck 10, throwing glowing neon braclets to the kids on deck 9. They let me join them, and we had a wonderful time! There were even some adults that came up to us asking for these glowing braclets. Can't wait to do it again. :teeth:

Hi Guys, Kim here....

1) Ave, can't wait for you and Mary Jo to join us on deck during the tropical deck party to toss the Glow braceletts.. Where else can you lob people in the head and not get in trouble ??? I have plenty of them left from last year +/- 1000 so if any one else wants to join us it is a lot of fun, let me know and we will count you into our group... Ave, of course I still owe you a drink ...I am also sending you a PM ...

2) I will send an update this weekend for the private day tour on St. Thomas, hopefully we get a few others to join in to have a great fun day...

3) Sponge balls are plentifull, I have 2 DOZEN coming.. Viking you better watch out !!!!

4) It was funny to hear you talking about Paul Revere and the Raiders... I was very young but my cousin Billy played in the band for PR & R , I think he played drums, then he went on to the music group Blue Birds ( who ever they were ???).

5) Also billy's brother Ricky was the 1st Eeyore character at WDW when they opened in 1971, we still have the life magazine that shows him in his Eeyore costume and all the cast taken on opening day...

back to work,

Bye, Kim..

Welcome to our group ciadriamom :wave2:..

We are a bit crazy but all have a terrific time together. We will be the 3rd cruise for many of us and of course always new cruisers join us. Many of us are getting together the night before the cruise at Grills at Cape Canaveral for dinner and to watch some cruise ships depart you might like to join us then. We have many different activities planned on ship and on shore where people can join in or not as they choose...

Hope to hear from you again... You may want to post when you have dinner seating, many of us have established tables together for dinner so then you would be seated with people you have at least met thru this board...

LANYARDS !!!

I had the fun this year of coming up with lanyards... I hope you all like my selection.. My plan to is hand out as many as possible at Grills and hopefully the rest in the terminal like we all did last year, watching other cruisers made me laugh as they were trying to figure out what all of us were doing handing out little treasures to each other...

Peter & Jen ( hygiene99) are supplying the KTTWC plastic holders that clip to the lanyards...

We will have enough lanyards/ holders for all adults that are on the official cruisetoberfest list and lanyards for kids old enough to wear one...

Ok now I really need to get to work..

Bye again, Kim :wave2::wave2:

So are we doing the white t-shirts with the mickey logo again this year or are they a different color? I just bought white shirts for the 3 of us since I had such a hard time last year finding one for Haley so I hope it's white.

I will be making magnets for our stateroom doors with our Mickey logo this time instead of the pins. Now that the list has grown, I need to go back to Office Max and buy more magnet paper.

Welcome to our "little" group ciadriamom. Like Kim said feel free to join in as little or as much as you want. Just email Eric (Viking) at antiguaorbust@yahoo.com with your info: Name, age and occupation of adults, Name and age of children, where you're staying the night before the cruise, your stateroom number, and occasion you're celebrating on the cruise. Did I forget anything?

My Satrurn Vue is in the shop for the airconditioner again! They had to overnight a part. Can you believe that, after all the saturn plant is only 35 miles southwest of Nashville.

Welcome to all our new cruisers and hope that you enjoy this thread and the cruise. There are some of the nicest people in the world on here and when we cruise. Just like going to a big family reunion without having to do the cooking:bounce:

Hope that everyone has a great day and we will talk to you later. Mike

Mike:

I also have the Saturn Vue. I bought it 6 months ago. Yesterday I brought it into the shop for the 3rd time in 2 months. It has an evaporation leak that they couldn t find the 1st 2 times. But this time I dropped it off the night before so they had it yesterday.

Well the service manager said they looked at it for 2 1/2 hours and still had no answer so they called tech support who had them blow smoke into the system(no jokes please) and they hope they finally found the problem-I need a new gascap. the seal on the cap has a problem and depending on how the gascap is put on makes the problem exist or not. All the inconvience for a silly gas cap problem. Meanwhile there was no replacement gascap in all of NY so they had to have one overnighted to them and hopefully I will be able to bring the car in again today to get fixed. Hopefully that is the problem..We shall see....yeash...

PS...they moved my seat positions so I'll never get the seats in the comfortable position I had them in before.

I had a 2002 Saturn Vue and invoked the Lemon Law on it. We got in Jan. 2002 and by March it had transmission problems that they were never able to fix. They kept performing software updates that never worked. Needless to say, I will never buy another Saturn again after this experience. I now have a 2003 Toyota Highlander that I love.

Hope you both get your Saturns fixed correctly and in a timely manner. If not, then just hound them until it gets fixed right.

When I went to pick up the car yesterday I jokingly said 'so do I at least get a free oil change due to all my inconvienence" and the service man said 'well we did wash your car for you'. Big deal. Everytime prior to this when I brought my car in they gave me a coupon for a free car wash. I still havent even used them. lets see what happens today when I go in....

Hi Folks,
no mails from the new cruisers so far :(
Welcome to our group ciadriamom. As Renee' already posted perfectly: "Like Kim said feel free to join in as little or as much as you want. Thanks, Renee'

I had an 11-hour-company-outing today, but it was well worth it. Our company will change a lot to meet new requirements of the market and to be ready to face the future. They're doing a great job in letting everyone feel involved and taken care of - That's what I like in working for an American company!!!

During the meet-and-greet I spoke with my new director from Denver, and guess what? He already did two cruises with DCL!! The Western-7-day and a 3-day. I wore my ESPN/DCL-polo today and so the topic came up.
Later that day our CEO saw the shirt and after getting some info from me he's now considering a DCL-cruise as well ;) I could ask for a commission, but I guess I wouldn't get a higher rebate than I already have :jester::teeth:

You must keep me posted on the Saturn Vues as this is the next vechicle Norm and I were looking at purchasing (in 2005) We already have a 2001 Saturn L series and just bought Brian a used 2001 Saturn S series. We have had good experiences with Saturn (knock on wood).

I think everyone gets a lemon now and then. We avoid Fords as we had many problems with them in the past. Have had better luck with GM products.

Have a good evening everyone. American Idol results show tonight. Hopefully John Stevens gets put out of his misery.

Thank god, I thought I was the only one who thought he was just BAAAADDDDD! Take away Frank Sinatra and he is lost! He'd be a great wedding singer for swing tunes, though! He had been out of his leauge for some time now....now if the teenagers would just quite voting for him! Go George Huff!

Glad to see more are coming on the Eco Tour....I have to admit, I am most excited for lunch on the beach! Geez, I will simply have to avoid scales for about a month after the cruises....two weeks of DCL food....oh so nice to taste, not so nice on the waist!

Thank you all so much for your warm welcome!!!! I feel so welcomed and can't wait to join you for some of the fun activities. I have to admit the torpedos thing has me a bit puzzled.

I would love to hear about some of the activities, especially the meeting at Grills.

By way of history, this is our second disney cruise, we did the four day last August and my youngest dd actually wrapped herself around the youth counselor's leg and said she wasn't getting off.

I thought there would be mutiny when I suggested a different vacation -- they DEMANDED the disney cruise and 7 days.

We is me Sharon, dd Ciara (age 12 now, 13 when we cruise) and Adaria (6).

I can't wait, and now the added thrill of meeting you guys, is really making the wait unbearable.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

Sharon....glad to have you and your girls join us! The ONLY thing that makes the waiting bareable it chatting with the "gang" on the DIS boards!BTW...my husband did not want to get off the ship when we did the 4 night! He kept saying..."leave me here"!!!Booking the 7 night was the easiest vacation plan we have ever had!

I am sorry to say my computer is sick!:( I think I will be on the phone with DELL wiping out my hard drive like last year. The same sort of funny stuff is happening again (clock not working, freezing up the screen, warnings saying "low resorces, ect) that happened last year when I got a darn virus!

Looking forward to the Eco-trip!

HOPE!!!! Nice to hear from you. Please say hello to your family!Wish you were joining us again!

Is "Chatty" with us. I saw a post and thought I must have missed something. I know "videogal" is NOT on this cruise. Someone help me:confused: I am confused!

Ave, I finished your book "Beach House" and liked it a lot. Thanks!

Well the Saturn is still in the shop. They received the new air conditioner compressor, but they are waiting on an expansion valve. They provided me a free rental car until mine is fixed. The saturn customer service center is paying for the rental along with paying for my oil change and 21000 mile service. My dealership washes the vehicle everytime I take it in and have bent over backward s to help at any time.

Saturn is coming out with a hybrid VUE in the 2005 model year.

It has rained so much here that I believe that the magic could dock downtown. Mike

If you have any wishes for updates/changes please send them until Friday, 23 April 04, noon EST - Perhaps I might be able to squeeze in some extra-time tomorrow night for an update, but as mentioned before it will probably be done on Saturday.

Before we bought our Peugeot Convertible we also had a GM-vehicle, an Opel Convertible. In Six years it caused shop-costs in excess of 13,000 Deutschmarks - Say, 1200 $ per annum  And all the shops we tried were either sloppy or rip-offs.

Well I got my saturn back. Lets hope they resolved the problem.
Just a little disappintment...no butterscotch on the dashboard as they ususally do(like a mint on the hotel pillow)..only kidding. I did feel that they should have at least offered me a free oil change for the amount of times that I had to bring the car in before discovering the possible problem.I wont say they have discovered it until a period of time passed and no repeat problem.

OMG... can we believe what happened on American Idol. Even though I dont like Jennifer Hudson it should have been John Stevens who went.

Hi Guys, Kim Here...

Sharon,

The get together at Grills is super informal, we are planning on meeting for drinks, dinner and visiting Friday 10/1. We plan on watching the cruise ships leave so we have to be at Grills before 5 pm. Once we get into September and have an idea of how many are attending then I will call the restaurant and see of they will reserve the outside patio for our group. Of course children are expected to come to...

Renee'

Thanks for the door magnets for our cabins, without one we may not ever find our cabin.. (I think we do win the award for our cabins being changed by DCL)
We are planning on doing the resort day on Antiqua, it sounds and looks too nice not to go there. Are you guys set on that ?? Do we want to get a reservation in ??

Bye, off to work,

Hi Kim - Count us in on this one. It sounds so beautiful and relaxing. By the way, I emailed them in March to ask about reservations and stuff. Here is what they said:

Day pass can be confirmed with me. Closer to the date kindly give me a reminder so that I ca inform the necessary persons before you arrive. Yes you will have full access to the beach. Upon arrival you will pay $70.00 for both of you, the baby will get a comp on the house.

I will be looking forward to hearing from you. You can respond directly to my email address (MAlfred@ANTIGUA.AllegroResorts.com).

Myriam Alfred

So it looks like we can wait a little while to do this or we can get a list of people that want to do this and make one ressie. Any thoughts?

Renee' -- We are also interested in doing the day pass at the beach and resort in Antigua in case you are making a list of people who plan to go.

I am still in shock over the results on Idol this week -- totally unreal! Wonder what will happen on Survivor tonight? Sure wish they could get rid of Boston Rob somehow but I don't think that is a possibility.
