Have a safe trip Jill and Tim. :wave2:
Eric and Anja--- So glad you are enjoying your trip so far.
Ivan was not kind to this area. Tornados in MD and PA. Southcentral Pa with major flooding. This storm has created major damage from Florida into the Northeast. Hopefully, it soon will be out to sea. I hope everyone is safe and without any major damage to your property.
Ok, Jeanne is this weeks storm and then Karl for next week. I hope we can all make it to the port between Karl and whatever the next one is.
Off to do errands.

The Germns have left the building!LOL! Eric and Anja are on their way to Florida, St Augustine, then on to see Ave in Panama City Beach. I hope they had as much fun as I did, touring around Charleston. The weather was very nice for them!!
Jill and Tim, have a safe trip. See you soon.
I spoke with Ave last night and she has not gotten her docs yet, but since the storm she has not gotten any mail either. Only people who live in her area are allow in. Hopefully UPS is holding them for her.
2 weeks from now we will be on board!!!!!!!!!

Hi Everyone!
No power yet, but DH parents got thier power restored, so they lent us thier generator. Using it for a small AC unit in my bedroom, fans, and of course....the computer.:bounce:
No docs yet. We got mail delivered yesterday, newspaper came today. But no UPS truck yet.
I have to show my ID every time I enter my neighborhood. The area is a mess. A few houses badly damaged, and more trees then I can count either uprooted or snapped in half. Power poles also missing or damaged.
Not fun dealing with all this, but feel very lucky we are all OK. A man up the street was killed when the tornado struck.
That picture on the AP wire with the big bull was "our" tornado.
DH was outside, just coming out of our workshop/laundry room, when it came over our house. The whole yard, street, and neighborhood was covered with debris. Mostly roofing material.
I want to thank all of you who thought of us, and prayed for us. It has been a long few days.
OK funny story: Wed. night about midnight DD was sleeping, she woke up and relized that the screen had fallen out of her window. She got up, went out the front door, picked up the screen and was in the process of putting it back in place when a spotlight hit her, and she heard "What are you doing there?" It was the police. Scared her to death. Seems they are really taking care of the folks in this area. Sorry she was scared, but happy to know we are being looked after while we sleep with open windows and door.:D
OK, got to go pick up DD. She has taken up residence with her friend. Something about sleeping in a hothouse???? She need a change of clothes. ;)
Talk to you all real soon.

So glad to have you back. I hate that you all are going thru this!
My prayers are with everyone in the southeast in general & in FL, in particular. Can't imagine being w/o power for the length of time some of you have been.
Where did DH end up when it hit? I get the impression he was outside in it.
Nothing new to report here, except my h (not DH much anymore!) is being a royal a--hole today. And, of course, all he knows is that I'm crabbing, not that HE's doing anything wrong. (They wouldn't let me type the word I originally put. Sorry.)
I so much can't wait to get away from here! :boat:
My throat's been bothering me for two days. I'm going to go take a nap & see how I feel later. Chat later.

Ave' -- it's wonderful to hear from and to know that you all are well. Great that the police are on the job even if your DD did get scared, and I bet she really did. Hope that you get your power back soon.
Wonder what we'll all be doing at this time two weeks from now. Sure hope the next weeks go by super fast. I really need to get organized and start packing something. Maybe tomorrow which is what I have been saying for days now.

Ave - So glad to hear that everyone is ok. Must have been really scary though. Also glad that the police are looking out for everyone. Hopefully your docts will come soon and the power will come back on even sooner.
Ironically the last few days here have been really sunny with very little rain. Ivan turned before he came to Canada. It's starting to get quiet cool at night here though. Am looking forward to a little warmer weather.
Can't believe we are leaving in a little over a week.
No yelling yet here either!

It likely be quite warm that day, I ordered a case of water but some of you might want to also pick up some extra bottles on the ship. I do know that you can buy a case of bottle of water on the ship..
Please be off the ship by 8:15 am and look for a jeep from Godfrey tours and they will also have a sign with my name on it.

Avé...so glad that you and your family are safe and sound. It certainly has to be frightening to go through this and my heart just aches for all of those people who had so little to begin with and now have even less.
Ivan roared through Northeastern Pennsylvania with a bang and there is so much flooding that it is unbelievable. We are fine where we live in Moosic however, the low lying area got hammered...several bridges were closed to get to the next town because they thought that one of the bridges was going to go; there is a dam on the road that would take you closer to Cathy and Art's and they were afraid that the dam was going to go but thankfully, it didn't. We went over that way this morning to go to breakfast and they turned us away from the one bridge because there is about 2 ft. of mud and debris everywhere so we took another route and there is a used car lot and the cars are stacked one on top of the other like a junk yard and mud and debris everywhere. The waters rose so fast that people had to be evacuated to the elementary school which is right by us. Then in Scranton, about 12 blocks from us, the pavement just gave way on a major road and swallowed a car (thankfully parked) into it along with the utility poles, fire hydrant, etc. The river is still running very high and very muddy.
Kim...I just sent you a pm. Mary Jo
Take care Mary Jo and hope that everyone there in Pa gets through it all ok. We are doing the happy dance here as my son just finished putting the cover on the pool. The leaves are starting to fall and that is a recipe for a mess sure enough.
Kathy and I saw the magic on two palms yesterday and she never looked better. A lot of our dis family have had a rough couple of months and we all need this cruise.
Hope that there are still some ports left for us to go to. If not we will be just as happy to cruise around in circles as long as there is food on the table and I do not have to wash the dishes. Mike

Went to our last ball game of the year. The Jays won.
We're working hard on our lists, although this close to leaving, I'm not trusted to be Listkeeper any more, so I spend a lot of time looking at the power tool catalogs and other important stuff like that. It helps substantially when I put a blank look on my face or fake a couple of fumbles at whatever I'm supposed to be doing and Voila!! I don't have to do it any more because Someone Else does it for me. :)
Did anybody notice Tropical Depression Thirteen?

My long weekend is almost over. Sure wish I had 4 day weeks every weekend!LOL!
I looked over the Personal Navigators today and did some planning. Mostly this was to see when spa appointment will fit into our days at sea.
I made pedicure appt. for DD and myself for next Sat. got my hair cut yesterday, and moved all the cruise stuff I've been collecting/buying into the spare room in preperation of doing some packing NEXT WEEKEND!
Jim, glad the Jays won one!By the way, the "blank look" trick is widely used by husbands everywhere. We wives are not fooled, just resigned to it! :teeth:

Mary - you are definitely right about that blank look being used by all men. Also don't forget the not listening when the TV is on. That's also widely used trait. ;)

Oh.
D'you mean that people actually talk to you when the TV is on?
A couple of years back I'd heard a rumor that this may happen even during a hockey or football game. Never paid it much mind though... I mean just exactly who would talk during a game?
That sorta ranks right up there with voluntarily giving up the channel changer.

I have a countdown on my computer at work. Number of work days, and number of actual days. We had to change our plans for our bird during vacation, so we'll make a trip up north to my mom's this weekend to drop the bird off.
Funny thing happened last week. I do collections and receive checks in the mail all the time. Many put a piece of paper around the check to disguise it in the envelope. One last week put a post office form for holding mail and it was blank. How did he know I needed to get one :D Saved me a trip to the post office :teeth:
I think the test went well last week, but won't have results probably until we return. As for the PT, I think it's going to help. Feeling better already.
I hope everyone who felt Ivan's wrath are doing better and soon things get back to normal.
Tonight I start the ironing. Getting close now!

Mary--thanks for the concern. My throat is feeling better. Unfortunately, it has transferred to my nose. Not sure if it's a cold or allergies (it is that time of year). Taking my Claritin-D. I'm functioning, so I'm at work.
Got the dogs taken care of, submitted the stop-the-mail form, got a ride TO the airport (still need a ride home). Still have to get dress pants for David (size 12, anyone?). Have to alter Heidi's dress ($5 at the resale--what a deal!).
Is there anything obvious that I'm missing?
With the emotional upheaval & my head in a fog, I can't even think straight!
We're down to 11 days! Can't believe it!!!

Hi gang ... hope everyone had a pretty good weekend.
As MaryJo was saying, the 6 to 8 inches of rain was a tad too much for a lot of the roads and dams around us. It got one of the bridges over a dam near us and now that road is closed. The school where Art works seems to have had a lot of water in some of the classrooms. In 34 years I have never seen so much water. The area we live in has a lot of large lakes and basically one flows into the next and the next and eventually it's the start of the Lehigh River. All of the lakes have very, very old dams and there had to be some evacuations as they didn't think the dams could hold BUT thank GOD they did and we were OK. Makes for some interesting travel, that's for sure. Felt bad for a lot of the wild animals cause they were chased drom the wood where they normally sleep and were in my back yard ... but then again I felt bad and gave them anything extra I could --- hmn, sugar cookies probably would make me feel happy I guess!
AshLee is giving me that face -- you animal parents know what I mean. The one where they know you are going away and they aren't. "Oh no it's the suitcases, quick drop in a toy under their clothes and make them feel bad when they get where they are going on vacation". Then there is the "Oh no, my paw hurts too bad, you better not leave me".
Well back to work ... hit the house tonite and do some more packing.
Oops ... Ave sooooooooooooo glad you guys are safe (hot maybe, but safe).

Not to rehash an old question - but I am assuming that Jetty Park is off, is this correct??? Are we possibly going to meet at the Radisson then?
Got our documents...we called UPS on the day they were supposed to be delivered and were told they had to 7 pm to deliver them. Well at 7:01 we were getting real anxious. Finally this big brown truck showed up at 7:15. Hip hip hooray!!!
Had a mini meltdown yesterday though..my dryer stopped working half way through the 1st dryer run. Automatically started thinking about the cruise and how to get the laundry down both before and after. Thankfully we called a repair guy and he came today and fixed it for a minimal charge. I just kept thinking about the laundry to do and whether or not we were going to have incur yet another surprise expense before the cruise...Of course this problem is minimal compared to others who have suffered weatherwise and elsewise but just not something needed at this time..

So glad everyone is safe....please, no more crazy weather!
Someone mentioned "ironing".........please explain.....that word certainly doesn't exist in my vocabulary!
Mary: John and I did the wine tasting last cruise and it was a lot of fun. You get to sample 6 different wines it's quite informative if you're a wine-dummy like I am. My favorite thing was learning about the proper way to open champagne.......but I'm not going to ruin any surprises! I probably wouldn't do it again, but you should be able to find somebody interested.
I need someone to do the line dancing class with me. I originally thought it was C&W style, but it's all the dances they do at the deck parties. I am the only person I know who finds it IMPOSSIBLE to learn the Electric Slide, Macarena. etc. I used to know the Chicken Dance, but I've forgotten that as well. (What a LOSER!) Maybe if I take the class I'll be able to join in something. A word to the wise: don't get near me on the dance line....I always end up tripping the people next to me! And I bet you think I'm exaggerating........

jeanneg...count me in for dancing (although I'm not sure that I could do line dancing!)--hubby is a horrible dancer so I'd rather not trip the light fantastic with him and usually I drag poor Sarah out to the dance floor and she is usually MORTIFIED!!! So she will be happy to hear I've found a partner!!

I'm in for dancing as well.
Not sure about Jetty Park yet. I think we were waiting to see if the park had sustained any damage.
Can we leave yet? Work is getting into the way of my List preparations.
New articling student started today -- here in Ontario you have to "article" (work) for a year in a law office before you can be called to the bar. I think in most states you just have to finish law school and then write the bar exams. Here, we have to do the bar exams and then work for a year (it was reversed when I did it but that was a while ago). She seems a bit formal but hopefully she'll relax in a bit.

Line dancing class??? I'm in for that altho I must admit that they had line dancing classes at the hospital a couple of years ago and I dropped out -- too embarassing. Jeanne -- I make the second Jean that can't do the Electric Slide. But I can sure try again. I forgot -- where is the website that I can find current Navigators? Tried Barb's site, but didn't see any there. Don't think they had line dancing the last time I cruised DCL. Wonder what else I am missing. Now that things are getting so close to sail away, I should be planning the things I (we) want to do on the ship.

There will be a DIS meet at the pool at 8:00pm. This will be in ADDITION to the meet at the park (if we are able to still do this).
There will be folks who arrive too late at the Radisson to attend the meeting at the park.
Last year there was live music by the pool, and the pool bar was open.I hope it will be the same this year.
I think all those driving should put something on their back window to identify them as DIS'ers! Maybe "CRUISTOBERFEST III"or BUST!

I'd also love to do the line dancing, dh will definitely not be up for it:( I'm going to try to get him to do the salsa lesson.

Is the rainforest worth it? it looked interesting last year but I never got a chance to actually do it.
Glad to hear everyone is ok with this horrible weather we're having. DH,local firefighter, is pumping out basements right now and doesn't know what time he'll be home. Ave so glad that your power was restored. A cool house and a hot shower. Life doesn't get any better. We are leaving Nashville on the 29th and driving to Titusville. Kathy and I are going to do some stuff on the 30th and 1st with Cathy and Art.
I guess that we can do the single digit dance. Kim and Bette and all the others that have received their documents congratulations.

Hi all, haven't been able to post in a while as I'm trying to get everything under "control" before we leave.
Kim, got your PM and sent a reply.
Ave - so glad you're ok. Marianne, Don't worry about the 7th, the good thing about crusing with a hundred new and old friends is two-fold, you totally lose track of the days and we'll keep you too occupied to think about it anyway. Care to join me for the art of entertaining series that day?
I'm interested in doing the wine tasting again and would love to join you and may check out the line dancing. So glad to hear it's not the c/w style (no offense meant, here, just not my style). But love the other dances and would love to go for the fun of it.
And best of all -- I GOT MY DOCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My TA called me on Friday to apologize that they still had not gone out and offered to drop them off personally at my home. Well it turns out that my office is actually closer, so she dropped them off for me on her way home! Can you spell R-E-L-I-E-F!!
Eric and Anja, so glad you are enjoying your visit.
Now if only I could find where I packed the rest of my travel things, before I moved, I could actually relax.

We did the galley tour and really liked it esp. the cookies at the end.
Bette - got your PM and replied this morning. Did not receive any other message. :p
Ave - a hot shower and a cool house is always nice!!
Fridayfun -- we are driving down the I75 all the way from Ontario. Actually it's the 401 til Windsor and then the I75 from Detriot. Do you have Dave Hunter's book, "Along the I75". Well worth the money. We will be in Ohio on the night of the 29th as we like to take 2.5 days to drive down. Just look for the fully loaded (as in luggage) van with only two people in it!
Haircut this morning and taking car in for new tires. It's great getting stuff crossed off the List.
Take care everyone. Not long now.

Mary Jo, if I'm not mistaken the closest outlet is at the Florida Mall, just off of I5, only a couple exits north of WDW. Not sure exactly, but it's on the east side of the road, a couple exits before the Beeline as well. There's a Disney outlet there and a Universal outlet right across the way from the Disney one. There is a Disney store over by Universal on International (in the shopping center with FAO Schwartz), but as I recall, the prices weren't any better there. Picked up a T-shirt at the Florida Mall for under $10!

cdnmickeylover- Are you getting into port a day early? Still trying to convince DH of this. and YES! Just picked it up at the bookstore the other day. Was inquiring about FL problems on another thread and someone told me about it! We will be I75 all the way. We stopped at Valdosta, GA last year and liked the length of that leg and are stopping there again! If you see a green Chevy Trailblazer, MI plates, and ONE person, that's us! DH will be asleep in the back! Will have Cruisetoberfest III on the back, too!

Thanks for the comfort. I really am starting to get excited. Where are you finding the information on the activities? Maybe a little pre-planning will do me good.
I'm in for line dancing. I LOVE doing that stuff.
Congrats on getting your docs. I'm sure it was stressful, knowing they were there SOMEWHERE!
Eric & Anja--glad you're having a great time.
Mary Jo--isn't there a Disney store at MCO? I know there's a SeaWorld & a Universal store. I'm sure there's a Disney store, too.
Avé--How long can you run the shower before you run out of hot water? :teeth:
Gotta tell you what's going on here at work. It's giving me a chuckle. A woman I work with saw a "Chinese doctor" the other day, asked him if he had anything for the symptoms of menopause. He gave her this package of something herbal. Unfortunately, she doesn't know how to take it, and the box is written in Chinese. The "pills" look like little peppercorns. My brother is married to a Chinese woman, and they know all about this, so I'll get info for her. I just think it's funny. How far will we go to get relief?
See you all in less than 11 days!!!

galley tour is definitely worth doing......it will give you a new appreciation for what the servers have to deal with every evening and, as someone mentioned, there's just-baked chocolate cookies at the end!
Rainforest Room is wonderful! I did it last time and now regret that I missed out on previous sailings........it is VERY relaxing, esp. those hot stone chairs.
I'm so excited about the line dancing class......heck, now we can take over at the Pirate night deck party! I hope Que is still there....that guy is such a bundle of enthusiasm.

Jill (Adams) -- Yes, I think Palo's is worth booking. I know that those in our group that sailed last year had problems with the treatment they received when trying to do a brunch for the group at Palo's, but I think it's definitely something you should try. You might enjoy the brunch better than dinner -- we do. The dinner menu is definitely not a "spaghetti & meatballs" type of thing. I think it is more Northern Italian cuisine (I think???). The restaurant is beautiful and has a great ocean view. Adults only as I imagine you already know, and you have to make your reservations as soon as you board the ship to be sure you have one. Looking forward to meeting you and your family.

Beautiful day here today....mornings are a little too chilly though but it is supposed to be 80 degrees here this afternoon....hopefully, the ground will dry up after all of this rain. On Saturday, there was a large sinkhole which opened up in Scranton--swallowed up a car which according to last nights paper, the girl had just purchased brand new. Anyway, the hole continues to grow and has pretty much swallowed up the entire street and the drop is between 80 to 100 feet with a raging stream going through the hole...the sinkhole was shown on ABC evening news last night!!
Avé...glad you are getting back to normal and have a hot shower!!

Kim - sent you back a PM.
Fridayfun -- We are indeed arriving a day early at the Port and we are staying at the Radisson. We will leave Wednesday afternoon -- we've decided that Jim will pick me up at work that day and hang around so that I'll get to leave. I'd love to just take the day off but that probably won't be possible. That day we will drive to the top of Ohio (it takes us roughly 4 hours to get to Windsor). The next day we'll drive to somewhere south in Georgia and will then arrive in Florida mid afternoon on Friday. I guess I should have said that there will be one person driving and one sleeping (which is me). Lately I get into a car and I'm asleep.
Mary Jo - I'd like to try the high tea -- couldn't get reservations last time. I think I saw the sink hole on the news last night although I can't remember where they said it was but it was massive and had a car sinking into it. It's sunny here today and it's supposed to be quite warm. Nights are cool though.
Got my hair cut and it's now short with highlights. I think I like it. Everyone at work seems too.
See everyone soon!!!

Here is a Report From The Live From The Magic Thread....
Good Evening from the Magic!!!
Great day in Antigua. The weather here was sunny, temperature was in the 80s, and it rained for a few minutes around 3:30 p.m.. DH and I booked our own excursion - Eli's Eco Tour. Several families from the Magic were on Eli's 52 foot boat. (www.adventureantigua.com). What a wonderful day we had. Besides snorkeling, swimming and having lunch, Eli gave us a history lesson about Antigua; saw turtles swimming; birds of various species - some native to the area and others near extinction; took a short hike. I will check with others this week as to Antigua beaches.

Mary, Kathy said that the last time they had re-certification on CPR that the nursing educator knew that if they got down on the floor they would not be able to get up. She placed the dummies on beds to die so that that they would not have to call Nashville wrecker to get the nurses up off the floor. Some of the ladies have artificial knees.

Mary - I hope you did get the message I left at your house on the way down last Friday or Saturday (9/10 or 11), Sorry we couldn't take you up on your offer and now I read you are LEAVING CHARLESTON?!! Are you gonna move close to Ave?
Sorry to intrude on your thread here in the middle of all the last minute preparations. I remember well those days. *BIG SIGH* You guys are all gonna have a blast. Have a drink for us!

Found this question, I don't know the answer but sure our German friends do.
Oktoberfest, the world's largest public festival held each year in Munich, Germany, got its start...
A. As an ancient pagan festival giving thanks for the harvest.
B. As a victory party at the conclusion of the Bavarian War of 1503-1504.
C. As part of the festivities celebrating a royal wedding in 1810.
D. As a marketing ploy launched by local breweries in 1957.
No Jetty Park for us but hope to see everyone at the Radisson for the Pool Party.

HERE is Some info From A thread on The main Board
If You Would like To Help ......
Here it is ;;;;;
Need Postcards from Disney Cruisers for son's class
We have a project in our geography class called "Post Card Exchange." Pease help me and see how many cards we get.
The objective is to familiarize students with communities around the United States and beyond through communication with friends, family and personal travel.
How the competition works: Students compete with other class periods and their teacher. Whoever has the most postcards in December and then again in May wins. There will be a reward to the winning class in December and a reward to the winning class in May.
Rules:
Florida postcards (since this is where we reside) are nice and welcome, but they will not count towards the tally.
The postcard must have the student's first and last name written in greeting.
No electronic postcards.
Postcards must be sent directly to Oyssey Middle School and postmarked outside of Florida.
REGULATIONS:
Only 1 postcard per individual, per place. In other words, 6 postcards postmarked in Yonkers, NY from Grandma A equals 1 postcard. One postcard from Grandma A and one from Grandpa A equals 2 postcards. However, if Grandma A visits another town, state or country, she is more than welcome to send another postcard that will count towards tally.
Please understand that postcardsare being used for educational purposes. It is perceivable that they will be personal to students, to a certain degree. Be advised that if they are deemed inappropriate (anything that may be obviously embarassing to the student, his or her peers, or teacher) they will not count towards tally.
An international postcard counts as 5 domestic postcards.
Students are strongly encouraged to send postcards to their class when they travel outside of Florida during this school year.
Please send postcards to:
Kevin O'Donnell
c/o Odyssey Middle School
Ms. Flake's Geography Class
9290 Lee Vista Blvd.
Orlando, FL 32829
Not sure what to say: Here is the type of information we're looking for:
Climate Information
Local Landmarks
What people do for a living
Local new stories (write something about what is currently taking place in the area)
Anything related to Geography
Thank you so much for your help and we will try to let you know how we did.
Thanks

another hurricane is headed for the east coast of florida
I've been watching this one because all of the plottings that I've seen show it going 'somewhere' up the Eastern Seaboard, roughly parallel to or right on the route that we'll be taking to get to Port Canaveral. We'll be leaving in six days so I'm fairly certain that she'll impact the drive somewhere along the line. I'm thrilled.
We're down to final detailing. The Grouch Factor has been slowly rising for the past couple of days... it should peak some time this weekend, so I've been practising a small selection of witty and charming verbal repartee, most of them not exceeding three words. :)
The Jays announced yesterday that for last home stand of the year against the Yankees the upper level of the stadium tickets will be sold for $2.00CAD (roughly $1.50USD) PER ticket. We would normally avoid any Yankee series but this would guarantee that every a-word than usual will show up. We'll be cruising for this series, fortuately.
Getting a hair cut tomorrow.
Santa.

Hi Everyone!
Happy Belated Birthday Ciara! Hope you had a great one! My DS13 (Chris) hasn't had a chance to email you. Are the teens meeting somewhere the 1st day? If so, I'll let him know.
Happy Anniversary Jeanne! How are you liking our Charlotte weather lately? I love it!
My goodness, I tried to start packing yesterday and what an ordeal! I pack for 4 of us, and my DH does his own. I just hand him a suitcase and a list of "must haves" (like dinner clothes).
I went through my DD10's closet last night to find some dinner clothes, and she went through a growth spurt since last spring. Now she needs shoes and dresses...ugh! Have to shop this weekend now. The only dressier dresses she has is velour that she wears at Christmas. But I think that's too wintery for a caribbean cruise. The suitcases are getting really full. Do you all pack 7 sets of daywear and 7 dinner outfits? I'm hoping my family can wear a few things twice and hopefully I won't have to resort to doing laundry on my vacation.
Well, bye for now! I can't believe we are in single digits! Yikes! We'll see you all at the port:)

Jean and Sam...HAPPY ANNIVERSARY...sorry it is belated!
Jill (Adams Family)--sympathy on the loss of your grandmother.
papa...thanks for the phone call yesterday...tell Kathy that I will look out for those snakes!!!
Crazy at work since we just started construction of a new floor for the new OB/GYN group that we are getting. I am the only one in the office so you can imagine the mess that I will come back to.
DD friend has been sick all week at school (her father doesn't believe in keeping them home when they are sick) so DD came home yesterday with sore throat and all stuffed up--I couldn't keep her home today because she had a presentation to do..we figure that we will be the next ones to get sick...just what we need!!
Beautiful and sunny here today!! Indian summer...bring it on!!

Gosh Ivan just won't go away, he has now resurfaced in the Gulf as a Tropical Storm. I have no idea how he got there, I thought he went out to sea after he drenched most of the East Coast. Central Pa was really hit hard from flooding. One of our friends house was flooded up to their roof just abouve Harrisburg.
Jim (usetheforceluke)--- Your posting are so funny. Hope you have a safe drive to the port. Hopefully Hurricane Jeanne won't cause any problems for any of us to get there.
I got the suitcases out. I tend to be a last minute packer so am aiming to get most things packed by Wed.
Laura the more I have cruised the lighter I packed. My first 7 day cruise I had enough clothing to sail around the world and not have to do laundry. Now I take 2 skirts (black and navy blue) and wear them to dinner with various tops including fancy ones for formal nights. The other tops can go with my shorts. I only take 3-4 shorts or capri pants, as the rest of the time I just run around in my bathing suit or umbro type shorts and T shirts. Plus I most have my hoodie as I am always cold. I am like the only person on the cruise who is always wearing a sweatshirt.
Back to work.

Laura -- Yes, I am truly enjoying our Charlotte weather this week. Warm (but not hot) during the day -- down into the 50's at night. No humidity anywhere -- at least not much.
As for packing, you have two children to pack up and they tend to go thru more clothes than adults, but at least your DH does his own packing! That would never work in our house. Heaven only knows what Sam would drag with him. I ALWAY overpack, but will try to pack less this time. A couple of pair of long pants for Sam will do it since he will change out of them after dinner most of the time. I am going to try really hard not to pack extra clothes "in case I need them" which I never do. And I doubt that anyone will even notice if you wear an outfit twice and I'm sure that it they did notice, they wouldn't care in the least.

Why is it that just as you are getting ready to go on vacation work seems to explode? Really thought that I'd made great progress last night by staying late but my desk sure doesn't look it now.
Can't wait til the weekend when I can start packing. Someone else in the household has to still do laundry but we won't mention names. We each pack ourselves but have to admit that I have a list and ask lots of questions about the contents of the 'other' suitcase. The tie will be packed. :p No one look at his feet on formal night though cause I'm betting the 'good' shoes will be packed but not worn as happened last year. :teeth:
Only 3.5 work days til we leave -- unfortunately have to come into work on Wednesday.
Back to work and my attempt to once again clear off the desk.

Fiona...next Thursday night before I leave for vacation, I stick all of the piles of my filing underneath my desk in a box that I marked "Empty" after 18 years of working with my boss, he still hasn't figured this out. On my evaluation one year, he told me that when he returned from vacation in January, my desk better be cleaned off--guess what...it was because they were all in the box under my desk!! He was thrilled and said what a good job I had done (little did he know)--half of the junk is stuff that is never referred to again anyway and if I have to find something, I just wait until he leaves the office and then search for it (can you tell that I hate to file!!)--actually, my important stuff does get filed but the rest is just junk!
The Orlando delegation is heading to P.F. Changs for dinner on Friday night!! Just hope that we don't have to bring an interpreter for Peter!!! We love you Peter!!

Oh Mary Jo I would love to do that with some files (actually I just stick some into a file cabinet so it's the same thing). I just have to make sure that all the files that will be dealt with in some way while I'm gone are up to date. And unfortunately there seems to be a problem or delay or something on every one!!
Plus my office is a sauna so I'm dying of the heat -- although I'm pretending that I'm preparing for the heat in Florida. :p
I will get everything done though although it will probably take some late nights.
I'm slowly going  but will recover as soon as we hit the road.

Jill:My condolences on your loss.
Ciara: Happy belated Birthday! Now that you're a bonafide teenager, your mom is going to being aging rapidly! Be kind to her.....
Jean (with no "-ne"!) Happy Anniversary to you and Sam!
Laurarn: You must be joking....or just plain crazy! You CAN certainly take 7 outfits for daytime plus 7 outfits for evening, but why would you WANT to? My experience with previous DCL cruises is that most people really don't give a hoot what anybody else is wearing. I'm going for comfort and will do the same as Nancy and mix and match the same few articles of clothing. I have a black Chico's outfit I can wear 3 different ways for formal, semi-formal and Palo night) and a few pairs of capris that I alternate for the other nights. During the day, I'm pretty much shorts and t-shirts.
Usually, I'll make a little list so I'm sure the tops I take will pair well with the bottoms. It's so much easier when you travel light....esp. when you return home with a reasonable amount of laundry as opposed to mountains. And don't forget the "disposable" underwear: pack all the stuff that's ready to be thrown out and toss it away on the cruise....that really cuts down on the laundry! I keep a crate in my laundry room that's just for that purpose. Everytime something is ready to be tossed, I throw it into the "vacation" crate. That way we never have to travel with dirty underwear (Old,yes, but dirty, no!) And that's probably more than you really need to know.........(I just hope the tag fairies don't catch sight of this post!)

Packing......Yet another advantage of cruising with 100+ friends! Forget the dental floss????Ask Jen for some! Need a tylenol? Ask one of the nurses! Last year I packed a "just in case bag" with all sorts of stuff (Imodium, eye drops, Benadryl ect) then put it under the bed without bothering to unpack it. If I needed one of the items, I knew it was there. If not, no need to have it in the way the whole time.

Hi Guys Kim here....
Packing !!! OMG I just made the t-shirts... Sleep is an option, I just keep repeating that. I of course will travel with another complete medical kit, right now though I am using my medical kit.
For all you Nurses out there, 3 weeks ago I had a deep 8mm skin cancer removed from my leg, guess who has been on Cipro, Keflex and Bactroban all at the same time for the past 2 weeks after a culture showed Gram Neg and Gram Pos. That stuff just wipes you out. Dr's are being pretty agressive since I will be sailing the high seas in a week. Next week I graduate to only one antibiotic for 2 more weeks, YEA !!! So I have been laying low for a while.
My lab staff and the owner of my lab are so fantastic they are working so hard getting ready for me to leave, they do not want me to have to work on the trip, only if they e-mail me and have a problem.
We are so sorry we will miss the meet at the cape, but we will have our own mini meet in Orlando, and I can't wait to see you guys Saturday AM...

RellingTwin-Yep! We're in Mooresville..."Race City USA", there are race shops all over the place here and of course, the local favorite -Dale Jr.'s is the most popular. We're less than a mile from an area with several shops. You can hear them testing the engines.
I'm so bummed about all this bad weather in the Atlantic. I've been reading the threads on all the changes for this upcoming weekend. I really hope CC holds out okay for us. twhipple--- I also bring along a long sleeve denim shirt so either the hoodie or denim shirt is on me at all time. For dinner, I will be wearing some sort of sweater. My family all thinks I am crazy, I have a hoodie on all summer because the AC is so cold and to get warm I go sit outside with the hoodie on.
Kim--- I haven't done the shirts at all so you are a step ahead of me. Sorry to hear about your leg. The current trend in dressing is for silver dressing to be used over the incisions or open wounds. You even see silver in bandaids now. I will try to remember to throw a couple of silver dressings in my suitcase in case you might need them. Wound care is my specialty.
Still only have the suitcase open with nothing in them. Maybe I should at least throw the old underwear in, however I am running out of old underwear since this is my second cruise for the year.

Jean & Sam--Happy Anniversary.
Jill--my condolences on your loss.
Kim--as I'm not a nurse, your post was Greek to me. But it sounds horrible! :scared: Hope everything is okay.
Didn't hear any answers on the origin of Ocktoberfest! Where are the Germs now?
Count me in on the sweater. I remember how cold I was at dinner the last cruise. (Ruined the sweater, too! My dress was beaded & the knit got caught in a couple of places.)
Mary Jo, when I was in NY/PA in July, I brought the BIG suitcase. I had Tom's help w/it going out, and my brother's help in Syracuse. I didn't have Tom's help when I got home, and I couldn't lift the thing! It was awful! So I'm bringing the smaller suitcase, and I'm packing very light!
It's been an interesting work week for me. My mgr decided to "shake things up". He reassigned me to three financial advisors--one of whom I worked with before--and I can't stand him! One of the others, I don't know real well, but I think he has the same personality as the first. The third is new, transferring from another branch, so I don't know him at all. I lost the two FA's I currently work with. I've been with one for over 2 years--we work so well together.
I have hated my job (except for the one FA) for a longest time. I just never had the nerve to quit. After yesterday, I almost walked out on the spot. But after calming down, I realized I can't be without a paycheck--especially while on vacation. So, I'm staying, but I'm actively looking elsewhere. I start w/the new guys on Monday, for 4 days, then I'm gone for a week. Oh well. They'll have to survive.
It'll be interesting to see how Tom reacts when he finds out (it's one of the things we fought about for so long). I'm not telling him until I actually have a new job. Maybe not until he tries to call me at work & they tell him I'm not there! :teeth:
Heidi & I are going to try making the t-shirts this weekend. Wish us luck!
Well, gotta get going--need some sleep.

Busy day over here so far today.
Been watching Jeanne with some interest. It still looks like she'll move quickly up the Eastern Seaboard right after passing through the Bahamas. At this point, landfall is south of Port Canaveral so we'll have to wait and see.
Spent some time this morning in another unsuccessful search for The Tie. I think it fell overboard and is lost forever. Shame.
Haven't got my hair cut yet. The guy that I've been going to for some time is now "semi-retired" and only goes in for long-time clientele on selected days. I'm not sure whether or not I want to get it cut. I sort of like having the pony tail and I've gotten used to not being asked for spare change all of the time. I'm also given a pretty wide berth in the grocery store check out lines which is nice. I can get them to all bunch up a bit if I start talking to myself or to my Invisible Friend or go after some imaginary flies. Lots of fun. :)

Disney Cruise Line® –
Important Information
As of September 24, 2004 - 1:00 pm EST
Unavoidable circumstances created by Hurricane Jeanne have brought about the need to make adjustments to our Disney Wonder and Disney Magic cruises.
Disney Wonder Three-Night Cruise, September 23, 2004
In order to avoid the effects of Hurricane Jeanne, we have extended this three-night cruise to a four-night cruise and modified the itinerary. We will now visit Cozumel, Mexico, on this voyage rather than the Bahamas. The ship will return on Monday, September 27, to Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades.
Disney Magic Seven-Night Cruise, September 25, 2004
Because Hurricane Jeanne is impacting Port Canaveral, the Disney Magic will now depart from Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades on Monday, September 27, on a five-night voyage. The itinerary will be:
Monday: Depart from Port Everglades
Tuesday: Day at Sea
Wednesday: Cozumel, Mexico
Thursday: Costa Maya, Mexico
Friday: Day at Sea
Saturday: Return to Port Canaveral
Ground transportation will be provided to Fort Lauderdale from Walt Disney World and the Orlando International Airport. In addition, transportation will be provided back to Fort Lauderdale from Port Canaveral at the end of the cruise if your car is in Fort Lauderdale. Special incentives will be offered to those who choose to sail on this cruise.
Disney Wonder Four-Night Cruise, September 26, 2004
This cruise is being delayed by one day and will depart on Monday, September 27, on a three-night voyage rather than a four-night cruise, departing from Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades. The cruise is still anticipated to sail to the Bahamas. However, depending on the path and impact of Hurricane Jeanne, it may be necessary to eliminate our calls to Castaway Cay and to Nassau. In this event, we will explore the potential to visit other ports or to have days at sea.
We realize that guests who have reservations for this cruise were looking forward to a four-night itinerary, and we are offering discount incentives to those who still choose to sail on this cruise.
Guests who booked air travel on their own should change only the inbound flight to Florida. Do not reschedule return flights as we expect no complications related to our return to Port Canaveral on Thursday.

Jim -- You are so funny!! Good thing I have a very private office or else people would be wondering why I am laughing out loud all by myself.
Videoman -- I just read that post by DCL that tomorrow's 7-day Magic cruise will be shortened to five days and sail from Lauderdale rather than Canaveral. Will this madness ever end? We are the next 7-day out after tomorrow's cruise. Sure hope DCL can keep to our original schedule. I will be so disappointed if our cruise is shortened -- much more than if we have to go to different ports. Let's all hope for the best!

Hi Everyone
Just sitting here waiting for our fearless, listkeeping, leader and his better half to show up.
Maybe I should be cleaning or cooking or something? Nahhhh!
Can't believe Port Canaveral is closing again. Really feel for all those cruisers affected. I don't care where we cruise to....but a REALLY want my 7 days.
Hey Jim, Can you spare a buck or two? :jester:
Just found out that the place we planned on taking the Germans to for dinner next Thursday night has re-opened. It got some damage from the tornado that hit our neighborhood.
Jeanneg... So Funny about the tag fairy thing!:p
Nancy...I have PLENTY of old worn out underware. Shall I pack a few extras for you?
Auntmeme...Looks like we are going to have to do another update on Pier Park, once this storm passes.
Sooner, rather then
Later,

Good idea, Ave......let's use the money we're collecting to buy Jim a tie and save our leftover "disposables" for Nancy! But remember, we have to pack a few more for ourselves just in case our cruise gets extended!
I'm with you, Jean, I don't care where we go as long as we're on the ship. Someone on the main board was moaning and groaning about going to Charleston, but that's the risk you take when you book a cruise during hurricane season and the lower rates reflect this. If they had taken the time to read the fine print, they would know that no specific itinerary is ever guaranteed and the captain always retains the right to change course if necessary. I feel bad for the people who lost days of their eagerly awaited vacations. but I really can't understand having a pity party because DCL went to Charleston!

More itinerary changes for these cruisers...I know that if this cruise gets extended into our cruise, we will be cancelling...I don't want to go on anything less than 7 days!! Don't care which ports we sail to but it has to be at least 7 days. Plus, if there is any remote possibility of another hurricane (can we say Lisa) that we might have to stay out to sea longer, we will cancel. I can just imagine me calling Sarah's principal from Mexico explaining why Sarah isn't back in school. Oh well, we will just have to wait and see. We've had too many things go wrong with the trip planning (original airline flights cancelled and then Ron Jon's cancelling) that for me it's three strikes, you're out!!
Gorgeous day out today but just hope that Jeanne misses Florida to give those people a break.

09-24-2004, 04:42 PM
Ah Mary Jo don't cancell. We'd miss you. Hopefully we won't have any hurricanes at all during our week. Lisa -- are you listening???
We've already decided that as long as we can drive and get there that we are going. Need a break desparately. And staying at home with my mother is NOT a break. Besides if I just stayed home I'd be reachable by telephone. :teeth:
Funny thing happened last night -- I was woken up by darling DS and his friend outside in the back yard at 2:30am. Got up to see what was going on. Seems our dog, Lily, had caught a mouse in the basement. Was thinking blood, gore, yuck but nope our smart dog just licked the thing. DS picked it up and put it in the neighbour's yard and didn't see any damage to it except that it was soaking wet. Lily was terribly excited by the whole thing but obviously didn't know what to do with it!
Still at work and will be for a while but hopefully not as long as I had first thought.

Looking forward to the cruise. Hope the bad weather is out of the way by Oct 1st when we fly to Orlando.
We are celebrating our anniversary on the cruise also. Noticed that many people are celebrating special occasions. Can't think of a better way to celebrate than a Disney cruise with dear hubby and Nicholas, the number one love of my life (after Ken)!

Hey, guys. Just saying hi. We are now temp stranded in Port Canveral.....we checked out of the WL today at WDW, called DCL and all was OK for a leave tomorrow...now we get to the Radisson about an hour ago and find out we are leaving monday from FT Lauderdale for the 9/25. Tim has been on hold with CRO trying to get us another room at WDW, with no luck. "ALL SOLD OUT" they say....funny, b/c we just got back from the parks and they are DEAD!!! Pt Canaveral is having a mandatory evac starting at 1000 tomorrow, so we have a place to stay tonite, but nowhere for Sat or Sun!
So, hopefully by the 10/2, we shall be rested and slightly less frazzeled.
See you in a week....I may post from the ship and give a stress update!

Not 'in the supermarket'.... just outside of the main doors is the best place to stand. I even have a pair of gloves with the finger ends cut off that are helpful to wear also.
Do you want to stop and shop ???
Maybe. Now that the baseball season is over, I've decided on a new menu that basically comprises Kraft Dinner and Tube Steak and a lot of variations.
:)
(This is an insider comment btw... If any one is interested in the whole story ask me on the cruise.)
What's your fav. color? We need to know what color tie to pick out.
I'm so emotionally attached to The Tie nothing could replace it, and I appreciate any thoughts in that regard. In light of the fact that I can no longer find it, I think it only fitting that I wear the suit and shirt without a tie as sort of a memorial to Lost Ties and Absent Neckfriends.

Hi guys Kim here...
I just got off the phone with my best friends in Orlando and my brother in Miami ( he is a Fed. Agent so he gets regular updates on the weather disasters) and here are some updates from them ...
The engineers at the port Canaveral have said that if the storm lasts over 3 hours the port will have to be dredged again, this will mean a significant delay until it can be re-opened.
If the port is closed then it looks like we will be leaving from Ft. Lauderdale.
For the displaced Orlando group, Renee', Peter, Mary Jo and us, I have made reservations for 2 mini van rentals which we can pick up Friday afternoon at WDW. If we do not want a 4+ hour bus ride to the port then we can drive ourselves. If we do not need the vans then great, no harm or cost involved.
You guys at he port may want to figure out alternate transportation/hotels in case this storm ends up as bad as they are hinting.
Lets all keep our fingers crossed that everything turns out GREAT and Florida makes it through OK....
Bye, Kim

Kim -- Sorry to hear about your medical problems. Will your wound keep you out of the water? Well, at least there are a bunch of medical personnel in our group.
My BIL & SIL in Vero Beach are going to stay in their home during the mandatory evacuation there. They figure if the house could get thru Frances, it can get thru Jeanne. Hope the resort will be open after the cruise is over so we can go there as planned but if we can't, it's no big deal. I sure hope we don't have to go to Lauderdale to board the Magic. I think I would rather ride in a bus than drive down there altho I don't know where we would park for the duration of the cruise. I guess if it comes to that, we will just have to call DCL and find out.
Jeanne G -- Don't you just hate it that this hurricane that may impact our cruise plans is named after us?
And -- I really need to start packing one of these days. Busy all day today doing other things. Tomorrow for sure since I really won't have any other time. Oops -- forgot I am taking Thursday off from work, but I can't leave it until then because I have lots of running around to do that day.
Let's see -- 3 more days to work before the cruise; 6 days until we leave for Florida; 7 days until we board the Magic and 14 more days to work after the cruise until I retire. Altho I have already offered to come back PRN since one of the big insurance companies just notified us of a group of bill audits totaling $6 million and I am one of only 2 nurses in the hospital that know how to do them.
Well, I had better go and do something!

I swear I don't notice anything! I just noticed that I have two tags that I didn't have the last time I looked :teeth: I was feeling left out, not having been tagged. I don't feel left out anymore ;)
Mary Jo, I was updating the index on the Ship of Fools thread and saw your message. PT is going great! I actually can say I've finally had a few days with nearly no pain. First time since June! I have to do water exercises, which I figured I can still do on the ship! Now I just have to stop worrying about Jeanne. I can get a ride to Port Everglades if I need one, but don't want to have to do that.
Hope everyone is doing well and is safe through this next bout of weather. If we leave from PC, we'll be to the port by 10:00.

I'm not overly fussy about it. It feels funny. I look different also. Sorta reminds me of the look you'd see from a really huge sleazeball like a serial axe murderer or a lawyer or someone from that social strata. It's going to take some time to get used to. Mike....what is your plan if we leave from Ft. Laud. and return to PC? Is that a possiblity? If the Radisson is open, we will probaby stay there and get the DCL transportation to Ft. Laud.
I pre-paid our Radisson room, and the rerervation can not be cancelled without losing $. If I cancel before 9/29 I lose 25.00 BUT if I cancel after 9/29 I lose all of it ($126.50)!!!!!!
I guess I'll wait a few days and see what affect the storm has on PC, the reserve a room in Ft.Laud if the Radisson is closed. They can't keep my $ if they are closed!

Im hoping you can help me with this question...
We are on this cruise, and were just filling out all the documents in the booklet, and got to the Immigration Forms.
On the form, it asks for Passport ID.
My niece and I have passports, however, my boyfriend is just travelling with birth certificate and ID. What number does he put there in that field or does he leave it blank??
Thanks!!

I checked the Port Canaveral web site, and the Disney Magic is scheduled to dock Oct. 2 at Port Canaveral. This is "updated" information since it does have the Magic leaving out of Fort Lauderdale on Monday 9-27.

Jim and Tim, glad you found a place to rest your heads. Best of luck tomorrow.
I hope that PC is OK as we REALLY don't want to add 4 hours to our travel time. But with all FL has been though I guess this is a very small problem!

Wow, I can't tell you how helpful these boards have been. It certainly has been an interesting time for the last several cruises. Like Mary, I'm really hoping to see PC open this week. I can't imagine driving 9hrs to PC on Friday AFTER school and work and then having to travel an additional 4 hrs. to Ft. L. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for PC and the Radisson.
This week is going to FLY by! Jeanne is expected in the Charlotte area today and tomorrow. I have to pack some more today and food shop. Tomorrow, (during the storm,) I'm supposed to chaperone my DD's 1st grade field trip to Greensboro (over an hour away) and hockey practice in Charlotte. Weds and Thurs I work at the hospital, and Friday I pack the van and take the dog to the kennel. Phew! You'll probably see DH and myself sleeping all over the ship...like in the DCL commercials:) It sounds like our ports of call have weathered the recent storms, so hopefully we'll get there, but if not, I'm ready for a mystery ride. It'll be interesting to here reports on CC. Well, happy packing everyone and stay safe to all those affected by this storm!

Spoke to Eric yesterday and he and Anja had a great time on Ave's boat.
Keeping my fingers crossed about PC. Do not really want to have to start the trip with a four hour drive but hey am flexible as long as we get on the ship.
Didn't get as much packing done as I wanted to this weekend but hopefully tonight. Cleaned up and found everything that we had purchased for the cruise though. Still have some laundry to do.

Okay, I've got the t-shirts done. But I can see how washing them will make them crackle, so I told the kids we're wearing them without washing first. That way, if they get ruined in the wash, it's not that big a deal.

Sure hope PC will be open for us on Saturday. Do not want the extra four hour drive.
Sam and I will be the Diser's with no logo on the back of our T-shirts. I am lucky that I was able to get fronts done and even with that, part of the front transfers did not transfer to the shirts so I had to fill in some of the letters with clothing markers. Wouldn't have anything at all without the help of Sharon who was kind enough to send me transfers since I could not get the logos to reverse on my computer or printer.
Went thru Sam's clothes yesterday so that was a great accomplishment. Sure am glad I am off Thursday so I can get packed, etc. Five days until we cruise from somewhere!

I am packed and ready to go!
I'm due to leave for WDW tomorrow morning (9-28). Got all the packing done last night, which is good for me (I usually pack midnight the night before departing). I hope that all goes well. Orlando airport is due to open at noon today, so hopfully there will not be many delays tomorrow. At this point what else can I do but go with the flow. May everyone have a safe journey to Florida this week.
Good Luck to All!

Hi guys Kim here...
I just recieved confirmations from the restaurant where we will have lunch on the private tour trip. Please remember cash only....
Also please bring $ 20.00 cash per person for the St. Thomas private tour. We will pay in cash at the dock.
Thanks, Kim
Also,
Since we will not able to join you guys at the radisson I will bring all the lanyards with me to the port. Hopefully, I can meet up with everyone and hand out the lanyards before boarding the ship. I have about 120 lanyards for most everyone who is on Eric's list and are over 6 yrs old.
See you soon,

Jeannie: I also cheated and relied on the "marker technique"! My daughter was kind enough to print out the logos on her color printer, but failed to bring along the directions for applying the transfers. We didn't realize you had to let them cool before you removed the backing and, as a result, they came out VERY light. One of the logos is even quite blurred because somebody (?) shifted the decal after lifting it up to check! If anyone notices, I'll just tell them 1) the ship is rocking and/or 2) they've had too much schnaps.
Laura: how can you get to PC in 9 hours from Mooresville when it takes me 10 and 1/2 from Raleigh? You must have a super huge gas tank and one heck of a bladder!
Good luck to everyone who is leaving in the next day or so......
Jeannie: how's the weather holding up in Charlotte? Are you driving or flying?

Jeanne -- Just starting to rain here now. The heavy rain and winds are supposed to start up this afternoon and all night. How is the weather in Raleigh? And by the way, I did have directions and let the transfers cool completely and still had trouble. But then I have never been known for being artistic and/or domestic.

Hi Everyone!
I have been busy with my out of town guests. And having problems loging onto the boards.
On Sat. DH had to work, so DD, DS and I took our german friends on a 5 hour canoe trip down Econ Fina Creek. They did well. It is not an easy trip. Lots of stuff to navigate through, around, over, and under. But the weather was wonderful, and the company great.
Then on Sunday, we headed out again, this time with DH. We have a little 17 foot Cape Horn. We loaded it down with food and fuel, and headed to Shell Island. Very windy day, and lots of biting flys :( , but we did see lots of dolphin! They came right up to the boat, and Anja got to pet a few of them!:bounce:
Then we headed home, rested up, showered and changed and went out to eat. Had a very nice dinner. The best part was Eric lent Casey one of his Game Boy games, which kept Casey very entertained through dinner. :jester:
But Monday got here, and we had to release the Germs on PCB without us. ;)
I gave Eric my work number, but since I didn't hear from them today, I'm assumeing that they got though the day ok without us.::yes:: Tomorrow they are coming for dinner at our house!
Sooner, rather then
Later,
Avé

I also had a hard time getting to the boards. With the trip so close I hope this is a temp. situation.
To everyone going on the Antiqua Adventure Eco tour. Remember to e-mail them before you leave home. They asked for an e-mail to confirm your reservation.
I hope Jill and Tim are finally on board the Magic and having fun.
2 more work days!!!
I think that the servers for this board are located in Orlando so that may explain the trouble logging on.
Radisson at the port is undamaged and open for business. The best western in titusville is open and we are still awaiting word on the port as far as cruise ships goes.
Ave if the Germs get too rowdy feed them a bunch of cholestrol laden food to make them drowsy and then duct tape them:tongue: Just kidding I think that it is great that the twins were able to entertain and have them in their homes.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday. Mike

Did the shirts tonight. We have just a small logo on the shirt. I didn't do anything on the back. The turned out ok. I just don't like the shirt I bought, but it was cheap. I put Norm's on a golf shirt.
Jeanne--- I'm still looking in my drawers for more disposable underwear. So nice you encouraged everyone to donate to me.
Norm got haircut Sat and I got mine tonight. Finished my ironing. Yes I do iron. I'm a rare species that still does use an iron on a regular basis.
Made kennel reservations I had forgotten about the dogs. Will put the notice out to stop the mail tomorrow. Did some last minute Wal Mart shopping on Sat. I cleaned my house on Friday and with just the 2 of us it should stay clean. I even got a chance to shampoo some of the carpets.
My goal for Tues is to pack.
Glad the Radisson is still open. Now if only the Port is operational. We have a rental car so will need to decide if we want to drive to Ft Lauderdale or just take the bus. In May after our cruise, we drove from Ft Lauderdale airport to WDW and was around 3 1/2 hours.
I guess we will just play the waiting game.

I'm very sad to post that I lost my gramma yesterday. Fortunately it ws peaceful.
At this point, my plan is to have the funeral on Thurs or Fri and still make my flight Fri nite, it all depends on the church and cemetery.

Ok, I need some advice. I was on the Wonder last year, and can't remember what the hairdryers were like in the staterooms. How many of you are bringing your own?
Also, does anyone remember how popular it is for girls to wear the "princess" costumes? Can you wear them to dinner? I know my DD6 would look cute in hers, but my DD10(turning 11) wants to wear one also. Part of me thinks she might be too "old" for that, and part of me thinks I need to enjoy her being a "little girl" just a little longer. Any thoughts??? I picked up the dresses at Party City the other day, but haven't told the girls about them yet in case I decide to return them, but I guess I could use them for Halloween.
Next, are any of you bringing your own snorkle sets? I found them on clearance 50%off at Target. I thought we could use them on the beaches of St. Thomas, Antigua, and CC(in the off chance we get there, of course). We're just doing maybe Coki beach on St. Thomas, and we're taking the St. Lawrence tour on Antigua (where he'll take us to a beach).
Next, how do we get a soft cooler on board? I know that we're not supposed to have personal coolers, but some posts suggest packing lunch from room service and taking it on our excursions. So, do we need to use the cooler as a piece of luggage? or pack it?
Sorry for so many questions, I'm in the middle of packing.
Thanks!!!!!
Regards,
Laura

Laura,
I've used the hairdryer onboard each year, but my hair is a bit shorter this year so I'm bringing my own. From what I've seen, it's kind of a mixed bag whether to bring your own.
Don't know about the princess: dresses as we have no need for them :teeth:
We bought our own snorkel sets this time. Just a mask and snorkel, figure we can use the fins the excursions provide or go without at CC (if we make it there :( ). Last year our masks fit very poorly and we spent as much time getting water out as we did snorkeling. We even tried the vaseline trick but nothing worked. We'll be snorkeling every where we go, so figured it is worth it.
As for the cooler, I have a small 6 pack soft sided cooler which I just pack in my suitcase.

Laura,
I don't like the hair dryers in the staterooms so I bring my own.
My DD, Haley, is going to wear her Belle and Cinderella princess dresses to dinner this year. Last year she did the same thing (I got a great deal on them at the DS and wound up getting her one for each night). I think all the little girls look so pretty in those dresses. I would say it they want to wear them, then let them. You can get some great pics of them all dressed up too. I spent a fortune on all the pics I bought from Shutters since they all came out so nice, and I probably will again this time.

Laura...if DD (10) wants to wear her Princess dress, I would say to let her wear it....you're never too old to be a princess!! Kids grow up so quick...I remember fondly buying dresses for Sarah to wear and now I can't buy her anything because her taste and mine are completely different...I'll pick something out and she just rolls her eyes like..you really don't expect me to wear that?
Is there anyone else who isn't packed? I plan on doing mine on Thursday night and early Friday morning!! Going with DD for a haircut tonight...the lady that we go to charges $9.00 for a cut and color and $4.00 for Sarah's haircut...can't beat it!!
Doctor phoned in an RX for me today...Sarah had a cold and graciously passed it along to me....mine seems to have settled in my chest and it is starting to hurt when I cough so I figured that it was time to call the doctor...just in case.
