Kathy,

Here is lots of pixie dust coming your way so that all those letters amount to nothing more than just a bunch of letters. You will be in our prayers as well.

Kim,

Sorry to hear about all the frustration you went though on the cruise and after the cruise with DCL. But glad you will be sailing with us again on Cruisetoberfest III.

Cathy,

As a matter of fact we did meet Gary Delana off stage on Castaway Cay one time. We even talked about UDEL. You are right he is very nice...both on and off stage. He just likes to joke about the Blue Hens at UDEL. I bought a UDEL T-shirt with the Fighting Blue Hens mascot on it and "FEAR THE BIRD" in BIG JAGGED Letters. I was tempted to get one for Gary for our cruise next year. :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Eric and Anja,

As much as I would like to say "stealing" your stateroom was revenge for Germany's victor of the US in women's soccer, that stateroom was on my reservation before the world cup games even started. But we will let you come visit your "old room" if you need to next year. ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

I want to thank everyone for all of their kind wishes for Kathy. We both are looking forward to the cruise with you all next October.

We were in contact with Cathy today and we are working on the new logo for the cruise. Cathy came up with what I think is the perfect saying for this cruise."Making Magical Memories" What does everyone think about this for our Motto?? Also Stacey is drawing a new and different Mickey that I hope everyone will really like.

Thanks Dave,
we appreciate that. What about sending your ressie# to us? I promise I won't use it for tampering with your stateroom :teeth: but I have to send my voucher to DCL in the next days and I wanted to send a accompanying letter requesting an upgrade and linking our tables again.:wave2:

Kim & Bette -- So sorry to hear that Disney is not doing anything. It's inexcusable really. Although the size of your cabin may have been the same the porthole would have made a huge difference. I know that you both were upset about it but also know that you didn't yell and scream at anyone either -- maybe this was a mistake (although I hate to say it). Did they doublebook the cabin and don't want to admit it? Why would they say it was offline for mechanical reasons and then there's someone in the room? Doesn't make sense. Our room was changed and we found out when we got our documents -- no one had told us or our TA that it was changed. Our TA was told that it was changed because our original cabin was offline due to mechanical problems as well. We didn't get an upgrade but the same type cabin so we didn't have an issue with it.

Is your TA going to respond or just leave it?

Am definitely glad that you're still cruising next October with us though.

Yoo Hoo ... Rosemary, are you out there ... :wave2: and :( We miss you posting. Please stop in once and a while and let us know how we can Richie to change your dates to cruise with the rest of the "family" :smooth:

Fiona ... How is Jim doing?

Kathy ... why the heck do they scare the p**p out of you and then say, nothing to worry about! I've had the same line and anymore I try and stave off the extra tests as long as possible.
I told Art about the logo idea and he thinks that would be neat.

Mike ... Art sat down and concentrated on the GPS and loading more maps and when I came home last night he was like a kid with a good report card ... Come here look quick! Then he couldn't get reception in the house and went out in his truck in our driveway and played with it some more. You boys and your toys!

Kim & Bette ... I sure hope that your TA can get something bettr for your besides a lame excuse. It is scary to think you picked your room for over a year and have it right up to check in and poof - gone with no legitimate reason.

Here I sit thinking about Bernie and his wonderful "vacation" and all the places he got to go and experience ... like the cockpit of your plane and the DCL cast's party, etc. Just dawned on me ... he didn't go parasailing with Bette did he? Has he shown his pictures to his "parents"? That was absolutely so much fun.

Gotta run --- had to check in and keep us on page UNO!

Mike,
I'll just put the new motto in the header of the next edition of The List. I like it and as long as there isn no majority for another one, we'll keep.
But we could also use Friends of the FFFF as a motto :teeth: :jester:

@GoofyNut

::yes:: Don't worry ... as one of the 4 F's we were just as amazed as you that we could pull it off. It really wasn't a pretty sight when we broke down in the middle of that intersection and three of us had to get out and push that darned car of the road!

Mike ... was that car made in Germany?

Viking

Be careful, Cathy! Jokes about German cars are the only cause for capital punishment over here :jester:
But following your group's name you should have taken one propelled by natural gas:hyper:

Back to a cruise topic:
Did anybody in the States or Canada hear about that British cruiseship Aurora? It's a ship of about the same size as the DCL-ships. They had an outbreak of the Norwalk-virus and were not allowed to enter Piraeus, which is Athens' harbour (Greece). The ship then diverted to Gibraltar, which is British property, but then the Spanish closed down the border between Gibraltar and Spain as a quarantine-measure, thus preventing about 3000-4000 Gibraltese commuters from getting to their workplaces. They have still had about 400 people affected from the disease on board, there are still 55 seriously ill. Today the cruiseline admitted that two passengers, bothe well over 70, have died and the bodies are stored on the ship. The cruiseline stated that the deaths are not in connection with the virus, but caused by heart-attacks:rolleyes: The ship is meanwhile sailing back to Britain.
Now I can really value all those warning/instruction signs on the Magic emphasizing hygienic behaviour.

Eric -- that doesn't sound like a great cruise. Have only heard vaguely about it but have really been too busy at work to pay much attention to the news.

I think that Jim has the same thing as Kathy and was basically told the same thing but he'd have to post to clarify. I could have it wrong.

He didn't have a good day yesterday because after he dropped me off at the subway he got 3 tickets on the drive home totalling $265!! Two were because he couldn't produce the ownership or proof of insurance for the car because they are in my wallet. The other was for driving in the commuter/bus lane. The first two he can go to court to have them removed but the third will have to be paid. I rarely (like 2x a year) go to downtown Toronto but had to go yesterday for a seminar. He may not drive me to the subway next time. :D

Today was the last day of my year long drug study. Yeah. For the last year have been on a drug study to help diabetics lose weight -- didn't help me so I'm guessing I got a placebo. But 8 vials of blood and an ECG later it's over. Two less pills to take every day.

Now can someone help me explain to a teenager that yes, you do need to do your assignments and yes you do need to pass English and no I don't want to talk to your English teacher about this again???

Take care everyone -- like the motto btw.

Kathy, I like your slogan!

Bette and Kim...I am so glad you did not let the SNAFU put a damper on your vacation or your plans to sail again. I hope someone response to your next letter.

I got my bill from DCL..it was correct except for the deposit for next years cruise! BUT...I'm sure that will show up on my credit card bill.

Eric...it sounds like the cruise you discribed is the cruise from H*ll!!!What a nightmare:earseek:

Watched "Finding Nemo" again.

Also got my statement, looks ok, but my credit for my BINGO win was suppose to be $207. They only had it down as $200. I know $7 bucks, no big deal, but I think I'll give them a call anyway.
No verranda for us next year. Unless we get a Magic upgrade. But we can always visit twin sisters room. :teeth:

Just got back from the first high school hockey game. I had to sell admission tickets since no one volunteered to do it. I was able to get all the remaining slots filled for Nov and Dec. If people don't come forward they are going to be assigned.

Fionna--- I can relate to being on a study drug. I am on a protocol to evaluate a new drug to help prevent bone metatasis in breast cancer survivors. I take 2 pills every morning and every six months need to get blood work drawn. Well, Tues went to have the blood work drawn, when I got home Tues night here is a message from the lab that they didn't draw all the tubes so had to go back this morning to be restuck. So not only the inconvience of going again, but I am not an easy person to get blood from so didn't appreciate having to be stuck again. My study drug is for 3 years, so 1 year down 2 more to go. At the end will find out if I had the drug or placebo.

Kim and Bette--- I'm really surprised that Disney isn't doing something. I would have thougt you would get the price difference between the cat 10 and cat 11. I didn't realize that you found out someone else was in that room. That is very interesting. Maybe you will be like 4nana who had a bad experience last year, and when she went on her cruise this year had VIP treatment. So maybe that will happen for you.

Kathy--- I know the language PVC's and PAC's but wouldn't know them if I saw them on a monitor. Plus clueless to what causes them. Cardiology is not my specialty either. Now if you had a bowel problem, I could really help you out. Hope things will be ok for you.

Cathy--- I love the motto also. It will be perfect for our group. I had to think what the FFFF was.

Ave--- I have yet to see Nemo. I thought I would get to see it on the cruise along with Pirates of the Caribbean. But was always doing something else when it was being shown. I'm going to ask DS #1 to buy it for me for Christmas. Last year he got me Beauty and the Beast.

Eric---- I did read about that cruise ship somewhere on these boards. I didn't realize that 2 people died. Wonder where those bodies are being stored.

I'm really tired so I'm heading off to bed.

Hi Guys, this is Kim here...

To answer a few inquiries about our problem, the dollar difference was around $380-$400 between the rooms. That is the only thing I asked Disney for, nothing else. Our travel agent is still trying to get some action she is speaking with anyone she can at Disney Cruisel Line / Disney travel Co. but once customer service has sent their official denial of any compensation they say that you have no appeal left with Disney.

Our TA Beci has said that her agency wants to do something to make this up to us next October ( we definately are coming) but Mom & I strongly believe that they had no fault in this mess and should not be placed in a position of compensating their clients for an obvious Disney screw-up.

Mom & I are fine about everything, we never expected to see anything from Disney, but sure we would have loved to be surprised with something from them.. Oh well, cruising goes on...

I will be alot savier next October when checking in and I would suggest you guys do not want to be behind me in the check-in line because I will be going over everything they give me with a fine tooth comb BEFORE I leave the counter.

Ave, I will need to send you a private e-mail later tonight or tomorrow, can you e-mail mom with what address to use?

Bye, Kim

P.S. I am already in the cruise spirit, I am working on a cruise sewing project already....

Eric ... OMG what an awful cruise for those people. I too am wondering where the heck they put the 2 bodies? Then again, maybe that's best unknown.

? -- Do all of you in Germany own a cuckoo clock? I see them advertised a lot and wonder. Remember having one in the house when I was little and the cat kept swinging from the pine cone weights!

Kim & Bette ... Realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly glad you are taking the snafu so well and back into getting up for the next voyage.

BUT still wondering how Bernie made out once he got home. Is he showing his pictures all around to his "humans"?

Glad to hear the good remarks about the slogan ... seems to fit us well. We're sailing on the MAGIC and for sure will be making some Magical Memories....for sure.

padisneyfan...Sam is an even cheaper date than Norm--he charged a total of $8.50 for two peach smoothies--one for him and one for me---now I on the other hand, well we won't even go there!!!

Forgot to post that Precious was happy to see us when we returned from the cruise but not overjoyed--how dare you leave me again. Well, the Saturday after we got home, Sam was working and Sarah and I decided to go out and run some errands and do lunch---Precious wanted to go and Sarah said "no, you are a pain in the car!!" Well when we returned home in the afternoon, Precious had ripped two major holes in my living room carpet---quite noticeable--needless to say, I was not too pleased with Precious--my carpet is maroon and she ripped it right down to the backing--now we have two large gray spots to stare at--luckily, we have a carpet supplier that we deal with at the hospital and he is going to have someone come up and repair it!!

I don't know about Bernie, but Fritz is lokking over my shoulder right now. We have a stationary workout bike in my computerroom facing the TV and the screen of the PC and Fritz resides on the handlebars of the bike.

No, Cathy - We don't have a cuckoo-clock. Asking a German of my generation (or even my parents') is the same like asking an American "Where do you park your quarterhorse at the office?" or "Does really everybody wear ten-gallon-hats in the USA?"
If you want to buy a cuckoo-clock in Frankfurt you have to go to a place frequently visited by tourists - Especially Japanese and Americans. But if you want one, I can get one for you for CruisetoberfestIII.

Mary Jo -- Had to laugh at Precious. My DB and SIL have 2 dogs. In their last house they had a huge family room and the carpet was seamed down the middle although you couldn't see it -- at least until the dogs got to it. The dogs found a loose thread and before they realized what the dogs had done there was carpet missing right in the middle of the room. They finally had to replace the carpet (it was old anyway) and make sure that there wasn't any seams for the dogs to get into.

They are great dogs but one of them also ate a pound of butter and then threw up all over the family room couch. DB and SIL tried everything to get rid of the smell but finally had to replace the couch too. Who said pets are cheap?

Must get back to work -- it's one of those days. I love doing the work the lawyer on the other side should have done a month ago.

Cathy---We have a cuckoo-clock, it just doesn't work. We had one for nearly 20 years and then it broke and couldn't be fixed. So 2 years ago, I bought Norm a new one for Christmas which only lasted until the warranty expired (1 year). I have offered to get it fixed or buy him a new one, but he said no. It looks lovely hanging on the wall. Norm really liked the clock, but both needed were the style that you needed to pull the chain every 24 hours to rewind. If we get another would like a 7 day one, of course they are more expensive.

Eric-- I didn't realize that younger German's weren't into the cuckoo clocks. I know our first one was made in Germany. I need to look where the second one came from.

Mary Jo--- Sorry about your carpet. Norm has lost all patience with our dogs, so if they did something like that they probably would find themselves staying outside.

Speaking of cuckoo-clocks, George bought me a 100 acres woods clock one year for Chistmas. Made in Germany. Does the Winnie the Pooh song every hour. Drives visitor insane.

I kind of enjoy that aspect of it.

But then again I throw our a verse of 'It's a small world" every now and then just for kicks.

Hey everyone - it's been a while since I've posted, but we're all doing good here in central FL.

I went to the doctor for my monthly checkup. Got to hear the baby's heartbeat. I go back in 2 weeks for my AFP triple screening test, then 4 weeks after that for my ultrasound. Can't wait to see the little one on the ultrasound!!! I still haven't gained my energy back, but the icky stomach feeling is gone. I just really want to get my energy back. It seems so much tougher now than it was with Emily. I think it's because I spend my days chasing a 2 yr old. Oh well!!!

Emily is doing well and she LOVED Halloween!!! She was dressed up like Tinkerbell and the first house she went to was a riot. Chris had taught her how to say "trick or treat" about 2 days before Halloween, so she got to the first house and said it before they even answered the door. Then, when they put the candy in her bag, she just kept exclaiming "Candy, OH BOY, Candy, OH BOY" It was quite cute!!!

We got our bill and it looked fine. The only thing missing from ours was the pics from Shutters that we bought that last morning. But, since the bill was printed at 7am, and the pics were purchased around 8am, I'm sure that they billed us for them.

Well, I'm off to bed now. This is way past my bedtime. (I've been known to go to bed before 10pm lately. Did I say that I wanted my energy back!!!) Plus, I have the day off tomorrow, and we're going to our 5th wedding this year. But, this time, I'm the only one actually in the wedding. Chris and Emily are just attendees.

Take care everyone, and we miss you all so much!!!

Nancy,
I tried to thing of something more square than a cuckoo-clock, but couldn't find anything :jester:
But BMW sells a funny new version as a gag for Mini-owners: It's a large analog clock with a small garage attached to it. On the hour the garage opens, a Mini comes out and lets his engine howl or honks.

I just looked at the pictures and I just want to cry. I wanna cruise with our friends old and new and I want to go NOW!

HA! I can't even find my table at home right now. Talk about sitting there to eat. :o At least I think we used to have a table to eat at. I know we did when the kids were little...hum, it has become a catch all. :p

People are here everywhere selling things for their kids schools. (I am at work as I write) Whoops, gotta run for a delivery.

Delivery was successful and since the first one I have been back on 2 more. Whew! I am glad when this night is over. I am working charge nurse tonight and also have my own assignment in the NICU and have to go back on the deliveries too. And they ask why nurses burn out.:teeth: We are working short as it is. Now I am having to admit this one to the NICU for transition to well baby nursery. That means I do the work and NN gets all the credit. Oh well, at least I have a job.

The supervisor just told me that she is going to Gatlinburg in the Smokie Mountains today and will be gone for a whole week. Must be nice. Wish I was cruisin. :D

Mike and I are keeping Katie tonight (Saturday) and I am looking forward to it. She is so cute right now cause Grandma and Grandpa rate! We can do no wrong, of course neither can she!:smooth:

Well, shoot! The new one is coming and I gotta get report even though I was there when it popped out into the world. Take care everyone. Kathy with a K

Now I must get off the computer and get to work. You can not see our yard for all the leaves covering it. So need to bundle up and go out and help Norm. Warm weather is gone, only 40 degrees outside and to get to a high of 44. Yesterday the low was 53.

Have a great weekend.

Hi Peter,
no, the site isn't up yet, I couldn't find the time so far. This month is pure hell overtime-wise. It has five Saturdays and I'll spend at least three in the office and for this weekend I have a 30lbs-box of files at home, which have to be verified :( With all that overtime I could have paid for the cruise myself :jester: I'll send a notice to everyone as soon as the pics are uploaded, but I also think about using the same service as Papa, because it is more convenient for everyone to download and print - I'll keep you posted.
Nice thing you're doing for the kids ::yes::

Folks,
it's 140am and I got up again in time to see the total eclipse of the moon. I alread shot some pictures. I had to use an exposure time of 1 second !!! Did it with a stand and delayed action to avoid blurring. Right now we're at about 90%. It should be total very soon. It's really exciting how the moon is turning red.
Fortunately there aren't any clouds.

If only it was that simple. Leaves are finished, at least until more fall off the trees. I think all the trees in the back are finished. Will still need to do the front at least one more time.

We also watched the lunar eclipse last night, it started here around 6:30pm. We could see it really well from our back porch.

Oh well, weekend went to fast. Back to work on Monday.:(

Was supposed to be off tonight but was called to see if I could work as they had only one nurse tonight in the NICU with 3 babies. I have appointments tomorrow too but I said "Sure, I'll come on in" When I get here the one nurse who is supposed to be here wanted me to do charge and let her take care of the twins who will be staying in our rooming in room with their parent. I really don't mind, 8 hours will be time and a half, 4 hours will be straight time. BUT, it is a little more towards the cruise.

We kept Katie last night and that little monkey can really keep her grandparents up now. I am so tired. She says "dess" (yes) to everything right now. She doesn't want to eat at our house though and I am concerned about that. She will eat a toasted cheese sandwich and a sausage patty and apple juice and milk. But that is it. I peeled an orange today and she just picked at it like it might bite her and refuses to eat anything else. Well, except the potato chips her Aunt Tanya had last night in their bedroom. She was so cute sneaking away from Mike and me to go 'visit' her Uncle Mike and Aunt Tanya.

We are all fine here and I am waiting to see the cardiologist on the 13th. Will keep you posted. I know what he is going to say the first thing, "Lose weight" I am trying to. But Mike is such a good cook. I am watching the caffine like a hawk. I only drink one cup of coffee for the most part during the day.

Nancy. we live on a hill and the wind comes and blows all our leaves away every fall. We have never had to rake leaves. I don't know where they go either. We have a fence in the backyard and there is never any in the fence either.

It is so quiet here right now and I hope it stays that way tonight.

Everyone take care and I hope MaryJo and Cathy and the guys and Sarah had a good time in New York.

A lot going on at work, so I didn't get to the tapes this weekend, hopefully this week I will find time.

I had an employee come back to the plant drunk in the middle of the night, and refused to leave, so I was woke up at 1:00am with phone calls ( fun weekend ).

Mary...my boss goes to Antigua every Christmas for two weeks and I plan on asking him for some pointers....this year, though, his wife retired (39 years as a 2nd grade teacher) so they are going in March instead....he mentioned something about a pirate cruise so when he goes to Antigua in March, I will remind him to check out whatever information he can....just a warning....some of the places that he recommends tend to be rather pricey since he makes about 7 times the amount of money I make, his wife just retired after teaching 39 years and they have no kids!!! I will let everyone know.

Sarah is anxiously awaiting her report card--she thinks her lowest mark is 89.4 in Algebra--told me she will bring her book home every night so she can bring the mark up....well guess what, she does bring the book home every night but fails to even open it.....told her the idea of bringing the book home is to study and at least open it!!

Ave...thanks again for that great mug...I am sipping my coffee out of it as I type!!

Back from a great day in NYC with the hubby, MaryJo & Sarah .
Radio City Christmas Show was GREAT....3-D glasses for the beginning of the show. MaryJo said it felt like being back at Disney. Those Rocketts, the live animals, the actors ... what can I say but awesome!

Went to St Pat's Cathedral, Trump Tower, Rockefeller Plaza, etc, etc, etc. FAQ Swartz and the Disney Store were nuts .. got a few things ... Bagels for AshLee and a stuffed giraffe.

MaryJo spyed a reallllllllllllllllllllly spoiled dog walking down 5th Ave....fur coat and hat and I don't mean his own fur! And Art thinks AshLee is spoiled.

Went into some of those "fancy stores" .. can't understand why the doorman doesn't give out smiley stickers like the guy at WalMart -- hehehe -- and we wondered why the salespersons didn't want to give us a second to show us the baubbles!

Had lunch at a place called Jeckyl & Hyde ... what a riot. Sat at the table in front of a wherewolf (sp) ... he suddenly starts talking, asks our names and then decides he wants Art for lunch, marinated and covered in sauce with a side of Sarah for dessert.
"Yeah, just bop Art over the head and serve him up!" Needless to say Sarah was doing the teenage look.

Darned near got picked off by a NYC taxi crossing a street. OK, here is how it goes ... you are on the start gate (side walk) you watch the traffic light, when it turns yellow for the opposite street, get ready, the second (and I mean THE SECOND) it turns red for them, start galloping (and I mean galloping) across so you are part way out before the actual OK to cross lights up. Reason being is that if a taxi is a half block away when it turns to stop galloping, you best have all (and I do mean ALL) your parts out of his way cause he'll be blowing his horn like a siren ... mind you not slowing down in any way just baring the horn.

By the time we were leaving NYC it was dark and looked totally different with the light on.

I must say a nice place to visit but I don't have the nerves to live there ... like my open spaces, with real trees, grass, animals, etc.

Pete & Jen ... What you are doing for your nieces and nephews is so nice. Hope you have a wonderful time.

Mary ... As soon as I can, I'm going to scan and try to send out some stuff I found on Antigua.

Don ... Sorry about you having to get out of bed for that drunk. A shame he doesn't realize how easy it would be to get seriously hurt running those machines ... could hurt himself and others for no good reason.

Gotta run and get some work done.

Have a good trip Don! Regardless of why you are going at least it's going to be warm there. Had to scrap my windshield this morning. :(

Welcome Suecot2000! It's a fun bunch truly. We were welcomed with open arms on the last cruise and had a great, fantastic time.

Busy weekend -- had to go to a gala Friday night. Yup, Jim had to wear his suit once again -- he was thrilled. Food was good but late -- 9:15pm for the main course. Dinner wasn't over til almost 10:30pm. Main dining is certainly for us! Didn't bid on any of the silent auction items -- can't afford $1000 for Leafs tickets or Raptors tickets. And amazingly the gift baskets that they had went for more than their value!

Saturday we went to London for a dismeet -- yup Mary Jo -- we met Tony and Debbie -- great fun. We met at 1pm for lunch and finally left at around 4:30pm. One person brought their laptop so that we looked at great photos from WDW. Others brought photos of Disneyland Tokyo and Disneyland Paris which were really neat to see.

Nov 22nd we are going to Niagara Falls to see the opening of the Disney lights there and see Haunted Mansion in Buffalo with Scratch42 (who just might cruise with us hopefully).

Sunday basically did nothing but drive Chris around -- he had to be at the Armouries at 9am for a Remembrance Day ceremony -- then he had to be picked up and then he had to be picked up again at the movies later on. The other parents drove them to the movies but I had to pick them up.

Leaves are still on the ground but must do that this weekend before it snows. It has already snowed north of us so don't want to be raking while it snows around us.

Work is busy and will probably be busy through the end of December. It will then be not busy at all in January. Are debating whether or not to go to WDW sometime in Jan/Feb/Mar. Our annual passes seem to be burning our hole in our pockets! We are thus waiting for AP rates to come out and then may be heading south again.

Must get back to work to pay for all this.

Ok i can relate to the Drunk Employee thing.... Also had one...

And here is how it goes... After not being paid for 3 weeks
for me and 4 for my partner Lou.. was only 3 for me cause i was on vacation .... on a Disney cruise... had a great time..
but anyways back to the story......

was not the first time and we had had it.....

So being a Union employee we called our Business Agent and told him He SAID SIT DOWN..... No money no work
so we showed up at the job and sat in the office until we heard back from him about 3 hours later we got a call from him saying go back to work the employeer would be there before the end of day with CASH.... day ends at 3;15 at 5;00 she showed up and paid us for 1 week and said she would return in am with rest of money By 9 am. ok fine gave her benifit of the dought...

Also when talking to Business agent He wanted the name of the 4 employees involved we told him only 3 the other employee was non union.... He told us that the Job 100%
union ..... and to have the other employee to leave the job site.... sometimes jobs r 1 union and 1 non union
and this is was we had been told by employer which was not true.. 100% union job... Being nice guys we decided to allow this non union gentlemen to finish the week.... this was thursday...... so he finished day on thursday....

Friday 7 am Lou and the other guy where going to be working
at this job and I had gone to another job for the day as a matter of fact it is a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts we r building...
lol

at 7:15 I get a call it is my friend Lou the other guy had shown up drunk and he wanted to know what he should do ???
He had lock himself in the van and was going no where Lou had the keys
I told him to call employer, and he did 2 minutes later I get phone call .. i know have to leave the job Im on and go to other job to work with Lou and the guy i was with was instructed to drive him home.... they r friends.... so with that lou and i went back to work .... Having this little problem set the employer behind and she told us she would be there Before end of day
At 5:00 pm we got a call she was on route 24 with flat tire , Yea right.... she said she would be at my house on Saturday Morning with the Cash and she did show up and paid us both ....
so it was a intresting weekend for us .....
Oh yea Saturday Morning I get a call from LOU He was on his way to the Police Department to BAIL out the other guy who is friends with the guy who showed up drunk.. for DWI
lol
and to get Company vehicle out of impound so we can have it for Monday so we can work.......

Monday was just a normal work day...

Tuesday is a Holiday

Oh yea and Saturday Night
we leave for our 4 day Wonder Cruise......

or at least that is what the Bride thinks...
Jens Brother Chris is getting Married and Jen is in the Bridal party
So she has been planning a Surprise Shower for the Bride
So to have her think that it is not this weekend
We told her that while on our cruise in October, they had the
$99.00 dollar special going on the Wonder and we could not resist.. They actually got in on that deal , while on the Wonder
years back... so it was believeable..
And with Jen out of Town there would be no Shower

So at 6:30 they r coming to take us to the Airport..
then we have someone else picking us up at the Airport
and her shower is on Sunday morning....

She thinks, Chris being invovled with polatics had His friend the State Rep.. send him a invite to a coffee with the Canadiates breakfast... which he does all the time anyways
so that is where they r headed...
Also has been sent an invite to a baby shower from her friend
to go with her so she will not have to go alone the following week
so she probably thinks that is her shower.....

Mary,
you should come to Rome, the churches there are really breathtaking. The most impressive IMHO is St. Paul which has markings inside showing the lenths of several other churches, it being the longest in the world. And St. Peter and the Sistine Chapel really leave you gaping - Open mouth and all ;)

Hi Guys, Kim here...

Those of you whom we cruised with know the whole story of what went wrong with pur reservation/room and what Disney DID NOT DO to make things better.

I thought that I was doing fine with everything that occured, and then I come by this posting on the general Disboard just a few minutes ago:

Just Back...Upgraded to Concierge!!! Fabulous
We just got back from the 11/1 Eastern and we had booked a category 6 and when I got into the room, the balcony had a completely obstructed view. I was very upset since I booked the 6 because last year we had a cat 7 and my son kept climbing up to see the view.

I went to guest services and they told me the ship was booked and there was a sign stating no upgrades. I told them I didn't want an upgrade, I just wanted what I booked. They told me that my room was a cat 6 but I told them that as far as I was concerned, it was a cat 7 since the view was obstructed and that is the only difference between the two rooms. If they didn't have a cat 6 with the plexiglass balcony I wanted a credit for the difference in price from the 7 to the 6.

They told me to wait until we sailed to see if people didn't show up. Fat chance of that I told them. They also told me that they couldn't do anything about the credit until Monday since the offices were closed on the weekend.

Whatever, I was on the boat anyway so I figured I would just wait. Anyway, Sonia from guest services called us about 5:45 and told me to come and look at a room she had available for us.

OH MY GOD it was gorgeous!! Beautiful huge balcony with 4 lounge chairs and a table with 4 chairs, a living room with pull out couch, desk and wall unit with dvd and cd player, also a kitchen typ area with table and chairs, 2 huge bathrooms and 1 walk in closet in the bedroom and a closet in the front room.

I thanked her profusely since all I was looking for was just a credit. She kept calling to check on us to make sure everything was okay. That's Disney for you, always striving to be the best.

Thank God we had the upgrade since we had very rough seas and my 4 1/2 yo son had terrible sea sickness. If I was to be confined to a room for that length of time, I was very thankful that it was a large beautiful room.

Thanks again to Sonia and all the Disney folks at Guest Services.

The only problem now is that I told my husband we can't go back again because I'll have to have the same kind of room...haha

Lori

This persons situation was identical to ours and even the same manager handled the situation, and we get a " too bad" from Disney and they get a concierge suite ! ... Oh my god, does this make us feel like 3rd class cruisers..

Welcome to SueCot2000

MaryJo, Sarah, Cathy & Art--- It sounds like you had a wonderful trip to NYC. I will never get Norm back there after our last nightmare trip many years ago. He said he didn't lose anything in New York so he has no need to go back.

jeanniec---- We are DVC members since Feb 1993. OKW is our home resort. Added extra points to that resort. I believe there is a number of us who are DVC members. We booked this cruise with DVC points. They are now giving discounts on the cruises if you rebook within 3 days after getting off the ship.

Fionna--- What are the Disney lights at Niagara Falls?

Kathy--- How are you doing?

Mike--- Norm and I are going to start to look for a digital camera as our Christmas gift. I'm slowly moving into the 21 st century.

Peter--- Your posts are so funny.

Kim and Bette--- I can see why you are upset. Plus it sounds like they booked an aft cat 6 stateroom which has the solid verenda not plexiglass. It is no way considered an obstructed view. She got what she paid for. These boards have gone over the difference between the solid and plexiglass veranda a zillion times in Cat 6. I would copy that and mail to the person who sent you the previous reply. The one thing with Disney is they don't do things consistently. I can never figure out why they don't. Especially the way things get communicated to the world anymore. I have to admire that even with all your problems that you still are going to cruise with us again. I only hope that Disney will eventually make things right for you. Even if it takes them until our 10/2 cruise and you get extra special treatment.

Eric--- A friend of mine is leaving Sat morning to start a cruise on the Rhine for the next 7 days. She is very excited about it.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Nancy,
unfortunately for your friend the weather has taken a turn towards bad :( Tell her to pack warm clothes-Especially a scarve, gloves and a hat. Foliage ist still coloured greatly over here and the Rhine valley can be nice in every weather. She shall be careful when buying gifts: All the small towns along the Rhine have high prices for souvenirs, but in Cities like Koblenz, Köln (Cologne), Düsseldorf you get the same stuff in big department stores for less - A LOT LESS!!! She shall look out for KARSTADT and KAUFHOF, which are the two biggest department store chains over here. Especially in Cologne the big shopping mall is very close to the spot where the cruise ships usually are moored. The mall is not an enclosed building, but an open pedestrian area in the heart of the city. It's similar to 16th Street Mall in Downtown Denver/CO - Just bigger. And starts just opposite the Cologne Cathedral, where she will go anyway.

We are DVC members,HH, BCV, and VB. We will be at HH the beginning of June, for a week.

Kim, I would be extremely P----- OFF, I would have to go over Sonja's head until I got some results.

Eric--- Thanks for the information, I will pass it onto my friend. She enjoys doing cruises and traveled down the Nile 2 years ago. In Jan she was to go to Asis, but because of SARS the trip was cancelled. She did Panama Canal instead. She has been to Europe before, but not on a Rhine cruise.

Another of my friends is leaving for Paris in early December. It is his wife's 40th birthday. On Expedia, he was able to get a great package $1200 for 5 days. Only extra they have to pay for his food. I guess the exchange rate is good for us.

Need to get to work. Rainy dreary day.

Nancy -- Are you saying that you can get a "points" discount on a future cruise if you book within 3 days after the current cruise ends? Very much of a discount? We did our first DCL cruise paying for one with points and one with cash. The second cruise was paid for all with points -- a great point discount when the 7 day Eastern Carribean cruise started -- I think it was around 126 points per person for Category 6 verandah room. This cruise is being paid entirely in cash.

Don -- Our DVC homes are very similar. We each have a resort @ WDW and then VB & HH. I think you are about the only other HH owner that I have seen on any of the boards I visit. We must be a small select group. We just love HH!

Looking forward to meeting both of you on the cruise.

Nancy -- The Disney lights are a series of displays of Disney characters in christmas lights that are set up in the parks around Niagara Falls, Canada. It starts on the 22nd of November and I believe lasts through Christmas. The characters and light displays are different each year and they've done it for the past 4(?) years I think. We try to go down each year to have a look at them.

We don't own DVC but maybe when the student loans are paid off.

Back to work.

Nancy,
I don't want to disappoint you or your friend, but the exchange rate is far from being good for Americans: Right now you have to pay about $1.20 for €1.00. Last year it was $.83 for €1.00!!!
Eating in Paris additionally isn't what I would call affordable
But it is a wonderful place!! We were there for 9 days (4 at Disney and 5 in Paris) and loved it. Tell them to watch their wallets and purses - Especially near Notre Dame. There are hundreds of pick-pockets waiting for tourists. At every Metro-station they can buy a ticket valid for their length of stay for the public transport, which is the best way to get around. With the ticket comes a coupon book with reductions fro Seine Cruises, Museums, shopping, etc.

Jeanniec: We are also DVC members (OKW since '92). We've cruised twice using points but have found the onboard discount to be a much better deal. Except for DCL, we still haven't used our points for anything other than OKW....I guess we just really like it alot!
I will be heading out to California this weekend. Hubby has a business meeting in Anaheim, but I intend to PLAY! It's been over 10 years since I've been to DL and I've never been to CA, so I'm really excited. Plus, I get the added pleasure of seeing my older son who is a grad student at AFI and is currently living in LA. He's going to spend Saturday doing the parks with me. He's only got one day free, so you know we'll be in true "commando" mode!

Just got my monthly statement from American Express with the DCL-bill and everything was perfect - And very inexpensive due to the very good Euro/Dollar-exchange rate. About €400 was our total - Mainly the tips for the waiters and host, a lot of cocktails, some champagne and some shopping. MasterCard was quicker: They already had the bill waiting for us when we arrived from the States
But with four Saturdays at the office or homework this month and several hours overtime during the week I don't care very much about it ;)

Jeanniec---- At the DVC meeting on board they gave out a new point chart with discounts if you rebooked within 3 business days after getting off the ship. Unless you are more than 11 months out, then you wait until the 11 month window to rebook. So we had to wait until 11/2 to rebook. It wasn't a great discount, but for a Cat 7 I got 12 points per person off. More point discounts were offered for cat 8-11. Every little bit helps. We have used both points and cash for the cruises. Lately, with the AP rates for WDW I have been paying to stay @ WDW and using points for the cruise. Mary (Relling Twin goes to HH, I don't know if that is here home property or not)

Jeanneg--- Other than the cruise we have mostly just stayed at OKW. You have had yours a little longer than I have, but you would have had the wonderful free passes to the parks. So until 2000 we only did WDW because of that promotion and always at OKW. We haven't stayed at any of the other vacation clubs on property. The only other place was Vero Beach we did one time. Norm and I loved it there, but my sons hated it. They are used to the beaches and boardwalks in MD and NJ, so Vero was boring to them. Enjoy you trip to California. I have only been as far west as Colorado.

Fionna--- The christmas light display sounds very nice. That is the first time I had heard of it. Our area is starting to advertise all the Christmas displays. Hersheypark Christmas Candylane opens this weekend. We haven't been to it for several years, but is on my list to get to this year. The park is really beautiful with all the lights. Plus you get to enjoy the wonderful Chocolate smell.

Eric--- Thanks again for all the information. I gave MaryAnn the Germany information and she really appreciated it. Will pass on the Paris information.

Almost time to go home.

you're so right about the free passes....it's been so long I almost forgot about them! I remember the first year Boardwalk opened I actually made a ressie to go there. When I learned we wouldn't get our free passes I called up and cancelled! My husband is not a "park" person. He likes nothing more than to play some golf and totally relax on the balcony of OKW. I, on the other hand, am always "go,go,go....I'm gonna get my money's worth out of this vacation!" He'd probably enjoy HH since he enjoys golf so much. I'm presently on instructor #7 over a period of 10-12 years! All I want to do is break 100 on a 9-hole course! I whiff that little sucker so many times I'm totally exhausted by the 4th or 5th hole!
We've always shied away from HH because I didn't think the kids would like it. Now that they're gone and we live so close to SC, I'm sure we'll be going there soon.

We LOVE Hilton Head Resort. The BEST part is that it is only 2 hours away! This Feb will be our 4th time for Pesidents Weekend. The kids have Friday and Monday off so we make it a long weekend. We have also gone there for a "quick" weekend trip (Fri. and Sat night) when the weather is nice in the Fall and Winter. The kids will swim in the heated pool no matter what the weather! For anyone who has not visited HH there is plenty to do there. Some of the "tourist" attactions are closed, but the shopping, resturants, and night spots are wonderful anytime of the year. Our "home" is Boardwalk (we bought in while we were still living in Florida) but we have taked about getting resale ponts at HH.

Work has been crazy this week. We are moving the clinic into our new "digs" next week AND JAHCO is coming at the same time! The stress level is going up everyday

Ave--- What is IGTD?

Hi Mary:wave2: We keep saying that some day we are going to go to HH in the off season. For us would be about a 12 hour drive.

Jeanne--- The only good part of golfing for me is riding in the cart. After the 4th hole, I am tired of chasing that little ball around and just want to ride around and look at the scenery. You and I must be on the same skill level. Norm plays a little. Both of our sons play. When we stayed at OKW, Norm and I would sit on the balcony and watch for them to go by. We usually bought them a pass so they could golf all week. My sons also would collect the lost golf balls at the end of each day that were near our building.

Maybe your NC and SC people could have a mini meet at HH. I might drive down to join you.

OH! LOVE the idea of a HH meet! Charleston would be fun too!

IGTD=ImGoingToDisney...A frequent poster who is now cruising.

I am at the same level of golfing! There is a 9 hole par 3 at a resort I used to work at. As an employee, I was allowed to play for a nominal fee if there was an open tee-time (and no guest walked in an wanted to play). My best score was 56, but most of the time is was closer to 70!I have not played since my DS was born, 11 years ago:( . I finally sold my clubs after moving them from house to house 3 times!I finally had to face the fact that I probably would not be using them for a LONG time. It's a fun sport, one I will take up again one day.

Good morning all,

Eric, I've been a Yoda fan since the 70's ( anyone remember the 70's, they're a little fuzzy to me ).

A HH meet would be great in June ( 13th thru the 18th :teeth: ) lots of time to prepare.

Work is getting crazy, nine new employees to train and still meet customer DEMANDS.

Colleen started making tapes last night, won't be long now.

OSU is still trying to make a run at the national championship, Go Buckeyes!

Jeanneg, have a safe trip DL, do you wear fatigues when you go commando style?

Work is calling, bye everyone,

Our public library had the neatest Yoda picture in the early 80's telling the kids how much fun reading was. I begged for that poster for the longest time. It finally faded out to a sepia color and wasn't very pretty anymore. I don't know what happened to it but my kids just loved it.

One of these days Mike and I want to go to the Outer Banks and relax. A friend of mine at work used to talk about going there and relaxing for two weeks at a time.

Katie is here, gotta go, take care. Kathy

Mini meet in either Charleston or HH would be great for NC & SC cruisers! Looks as tho Relling Twin in Panama City Beach, FL, is closer to HH than the NC cruisers. Only takes her 2 hours. Our drive from Charlotte, NC to HH is about 4 hours; even longer from Raleigh.

I LOVE the idea of a HH mini-meet! We can send the men out golfing and the ladies can chat! Whatever the date we can probably swing a long weekend, but I have some serious concerns about early to mid-June. Our oldest son graduates 6/9 so we'll be all the way out on the west coast for that. We promised to set him up with a car (preferably a used Volvo, cuz he stinks as a driver!) and so I predict we'll be out there for 4-5 days minimum.
My husband is in a solo practice and although he can take whatever time he wants, when he's gone there's no one to automatically cover for him. So, for us, the end of June would work out a little better.

Mary: Yep, AFI is American Film Institute (just like the exhibit at MGM). It's a graduate level school only and he expects to get his masters in cinematography in June. He did his undergrad at NYU's Tisch School, so he's been very fortunate to have studied at the best places. I have his solemn vow that when he gets to the Academy Awards, momma's going with him! I just hope I live that long! Anyway, the poor kid's been living in Hollywood for the past year and a half with no wheels and on very meager means, but when you're young and have a dream, hungry is good. At least this way when he finally hits the big time, he'll have an appreciation of what it means to earn it.

Don: I'm also a big Yoda fan....just love it when he hits Luke with the stick for touching things! And I got a big chuckle out of the last movie when the little guy kicks butt! Has anyone ever been to Sevilla in Spain? There's a whole scene that's shot in the Parque de Maria Luisa, which is a big tourist destination.

jeanniec...we currently live in Charleston, SC. We have a house in Panama City Beach, because we were not sure if we were going to be staying in Charleston. We rented it out, but plan on moving back into it in 2 years.
Panama City Beach to HH is about 7 hours.

jeanneg...I'm sure your DS will be excited to graduate in June. What an exciting field hehas chosen!

End of June is fine with me. Let's say the weekend of June 26th. If this works for everyone we can start making plans. All in favor say AYE!!!Keep in mind this is the "high" season and both DVC points or cash will be pretty high. Since I will be using points I will book at the 7 month window.

Nancy...we will be in HH the weekend of Feb 14th. Maybe you'll feel like driving down? The weather is usually very nice in Feb. and points and cash prices are very reasonable.

Survivor fan here -- I think it's going to depend on who gets immunity from now on. If Rupert doesn't win immunity he might go but I really don't know who's going to get down to the final four at this point. I wish they would vote Jon out but that might take a while.

Ya gotta admit, Rupert is one of the most interesting players they've ever had. I truly hope he wins, but after last night's show, it's not looking so good. I didn't understand the way last night's immunity challenge played out. After all the conversations people were having about getting rid of him, I can't understand why they literally "let" him have immunity. But then again, I never did like that sort of challenge. I think the person who answers correctly should be exempt from getting "hit". Some of the things they do just don't seem fair at all. Look at what happened to Pappy several shows back....the poor guy never had a single vote against him and he picked the freakin' yellow rock! Go figure.....
They seriously need to vote Jon off....should have done it episodes ago. That boy is no good!

June 26th (or there abouts) would work well for us for a mini-meet at HH. We may only be able to stay 2 or 3 nights but I'm sure we could manage to make it for a little bit.

Will not be posting for a while....leaving this afternoon for DISNEYLAND!!!!!!!!!! It would probably be wise if I began packing.........

jeanneg--- My son who goes to Kutztown is a Media Communication major and is interested in going into the music industry in video production. In our area both Temple and Kutztown have really good Media communication programs. Temple's program was very large so Erik liked the more hands on he could get at Kutztown. Personally, I'm glad he decided on KU instead of Temple because of the location of Temple. It is such a beautiful school, if you could just move the campus to another location. Though he is talking about getting his masters from Temple. We should have alot to talk about during dinner on the cruise. Have a safe trip and enjoy you visit.

Mary---- We are actually looking at doing some sort of Feb trip, so may have to look at HH. Since I am points poor, would need to use cash. I know that the off season has really good deals.

For the second week in a row, I had a hockey meeting so I missed Survivor. Hopefully, will not have a meeting next Thursday.

Norm and I are going out for the weekend to see Brian's hockey games. We are going out next weekend also since he has 2 home games. That will be the last games we can see until after Christmas break as the Dec games we are in WDW.

Kathy--- Hope your test turns out ok. Sending pixie dust your way.

Yesterday I had a very scary day at the office: In addition to being our in-house paramedic I'm also a memebr of our company's firefighters. From 8am-2pm we had our annual training at the local firestation. Some hours in the classroom, then igniting a large log-fire with petrol and extinguishing it with different kind of extinguishers. Then we set fire to a dummy which had to be saved by covering "him" with a fireproof blanket. After the training I went back to the office to do some work, but just as I arrived my phone rang, because somebody in our distribution facility had collapsed. I sprinted over there - It's just about a 1/4-mile away. Fortunately I only had to check her blood pressure and everything was fine again. I took the opportunity to refill all the first aid kits over there and went back to my office.
About 2 minutes after I had arrived there my phone rang again: This time a colleague on the 4th floor had collapsed. I sprinted up there and when I arrived found her with all symptoms of a heart attack. I immediately called an ambulance and a doctor-unit. Then I alerted my quick-response-team to direct the units to the appropriate entrances of our building, block the elevators for them and clear the aisles.
After about 4 minutes the first ambulance arrived and confirmed my diagnosis. After another 5 minutes the doctor-unit also arrived. They did an EKG, fixed an IV and then we brought her down to the ambulance and she was taken to the hospital accompanied by the doc.
This morning her boss came down to my office and informed me that she just had an irritated sceletal muscle (Kind of an inflammation) in the chest which caused exactly the same symptoms as a heart attack - They needed about 5 hours at Frankfurt's University Hospital to find this out!!! So misleading were all symptoms.
But that's what I call a happy ending ::yes::

I had a phone call from my travel agent today and she said that a very senior member of management on the Ship Disney Magic has reversed the customer service letter (that stated I was not due compensation on the enforced room change during the 10/11 cruise) and that in fact Disney is going to refund the price difference between the 2 category rooms around $ 400.00 but every little penny counts.

Of course we may be "persona non-grata" next year on the cruise, but oh well...

If anyone needs a GREAT travel agent I can recommend Beci & her agency with glowing recommendations. Even though none of what occured was in any way her agencies fault they ( the agency) sent us a check last week for mom & I to have a shore excursion on them on next Octobers cruise.

Kathy take care, mom & I are thinking of you... We can't make the HH get together but we still would be REAL interested in a DC/Maryland get together in the spring.

Bye, Kim:wave2: :wave2:

So Happy for you both!!!!! Glad Disney came through, although they could have done more, at least you got your money back. As far as persona non-grata goes...Forget About It!!!!!!(read NY accent :) ) Who needs Disney's whimpy cheese trays when you've got a crazy group like us to hang with!!!!

Eric...Way to go!!! Nothing like a possible MI to get your adrenaline pumping. Nice to know all that training pays off. Glad your co-worker was OK. How long did it take you to calm down. As a nurse I have only been in an emergency situation 3 times. And each time I surprised myself at how quickly and calmly I handled myself. But after....OMG. It took at least an hour to get my pulse rate anywhere near normal.

Kim and Bette...so glad it all worked out!

Eric.. nice going! It sounds like the 2nd person had a condition called Costrocondritis (inflammation of the joints in the rib cage) which has symptoms almost exactly like an heart attack.
I agree with Ave, nothing like an emergency to get YOUR heart pumping!

Hilton Head meet...My date are VERY flexable!Who has dates that are not? I was looking at maybe even April or May. Weather is still great but availablity and rates are better.
Don ..have you already booked?

Survivor....I don't think anyone had the nerve to "Openly" go against Rupert. He is pretty well liked and also pretty intimadating! If he can win imunity a few more times he will be in the last 3 (just my opinion)
Cathy...I agree with you about the lazy folks! They could sleep all the time because they didn't EAT!(or maybe they didn't eat because they slept all the time???!!)

Mary, We already booked because of Josh's summer vacation.

Eric, sounds like a cool mug, I have an original ( solid ) Yoda hand puppet from the year the first Star Wars came out, Yoda also spent 3 years in Germany with me.

Well, it's 2:30am and I'm at work, this is getting old. I don't remember the last time I got off work and enjoyed an evening with my family without work calling.

Kim and "Violet", glad you finally got some closure with your S.N.A.F.U., talk to everyone later, going to go home and see if I still have a family there.

Tragic incident on a cruiseship in Europe:
While still in the shipyard the newly built largest cruiseship in the world, the new Queen Elizabeth II, had a kind of open house. A gangway with about 40 people on it collapsed, causing everybody to fall down about 50' onto the concrete quai. 12 dead, about 30 severely injured. :(
This took place in St. Naizare, France, where the ship has been built and is in its final stage of peparation for the maiden voyage in January. The ship is about 150' longer than the Disney ships and can carry up to 2800 passengers.

Sorry to hear about the accident Eric.

Kim and Bette thanks for the update on your cruise problem and we had our fingers crossed for you two. You girls should have been upgraded to the Disney suite at the very least:hyper:

We have been very busy with our 32 patients and trying to get all of the data entered into the computer and synchronized with the Garth server downtown. All the computers are named after country music stars on the network at NFN here in Nashville.

I have the URL for the blossom watch in Washington DC. If anyone wants it let me know and I will put it in a message here in the thread.

Kathy and I had a two hour class on our PFAFF machine today at the store. Had a blast!!

Mike,
in my company they named the servers after German mountains: The one I store my data on is the "Watzmann", but I'd prefer a "Dixie Chick" or a "Shania" :teeth:

The ship where the accident happened was the Queen Mary 2, not the Queen Elizabeth 2, and the death toll has meanwhile risen to 13 :(

Kim and Bette--- Great news from Disney. It will be great to see what special things you might get next cruise.

Don--- Have a safe trip.

Eric--- Thanks for the list.

We got back late Sat night from visiting DS#2. One more trip to see him next weekend for more hockey games, then we won't be out until after Christmas break.

Today we attacked the leaves again. With the wind, ours didn't blow away they just stacked up near the house. Hopefully, it was the last time we have to do them. Leaf collection is Monday. It was a nice day to be working outside as temperature was 54. Great jeans and sweatshirt weather.

I was almost tempted to put up the Christmas lights since it was warm, but was to tired to go up to the attic to get them.

The boards have been quiet. Everyone must be busy.

Eric ... So glad your possible MI's were Ok, Unfortunately I remember so many calls I went on that were not OK and take a while to get out of your system. But there was one save and that made up for all the rest. Actually he's a local Chief and I see him a lot. Never thought he remembered that close call until we all had to go to a PTSD debriefing (lost a 7 year old in a fire) and he mentioned it. So if nothing else, remember one thing that all those hours training can make a difference, Keep up the Good Work!

Such a tragedy about the Queen Mary II ... sounds like it was a temporary gangway that workers and their families were using to tour the ship. OMG sounds like an realllllllllllllllllllllllllllly big ship.

Replaced the sink in our main bathroom this weekend :earseek: Why is it that the last pipe to be connected is the one to give you trouble? Drain pipe of course ... Art was not a happy camper.

Kim & Bette :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Great news. Finally someone at DCL with an ounce of common sense looked at your sanfu. Such a shame that it happened BUT at least you will get the difference in $ back. Sure hope that the "customer service person" on the ship gets a talking to and learns a lesson .. at the least they should remember to "keep the Magic" for the passengers!

Kathy & Mike .. Glad you had fun at your sewing class. Hope Kathy stays feeling well. Mike send me the URL for Washington.

Gotta get back to work ... really starting to feel the lack of employee (the girl left after some problems with coping) and Uncle Sam usually takes about 1 or 2 years to see the need to fill the job!

Mary -- I'm thinking that HH might be a difficult place to hold a mini-meet, especially in the summer months. Since it is a small resort with very few studios or 1 BR's, it's been difficult to get a smaller unit there at the 7 month window (which is why we did an add-on). April or May might work better. Or perhaps Charleston would work out, too. Also, it's more centrally located between NC & SC cruisers. We do love HH -- just thinking that reservations might be difficult.

Hi Everyone, I hope you all had a better Monday then me!:(
Very bad day at work, then went to check on DMIL. She has pnumonia in both lungs. Today right before lunch she was given the wrong kind of insulin. Her sugar went to 30 (normal is 70-110). About an hour later she was slurring her words and sweating profusly. The nurses gave her 3 sugar tabs and juice, then checked her sugar again, it was 29! Time for IV dextrose!!!! Anyway she rode the glucose roller coaster all day! By the time I got to the hospital she had stablized, but was still pretty upset. I stayed with her until her doctor came in. He was NOT very happy with what happened.
Sorry to unload like this. One of those days I guess.:earseek:

Ave, so sorry to hear about DMIL! Glad she is doing better. Please give her my best. You are a GREAT daughter-in-law!She is lucky to have you!

Cathy and Mary - So far I have limited all plumbing experience to toilets. Figure there's always another sink in the house but the toilet usually needs fixed NOW!

About the DC meet - I was reading at one point that there is a Potomac River cruise to Mt Vernon which included a tour of the grounds. Can't remember who did it right now, but if that interests anyone I can do some more research.
- also, in case anyone is DVC and planning to do DC, The Jefferson is a Loews hotel and part of the concierge collection. We stayed there a few years ago and it was very nice. Close to The White House and Washington Monument.

Windermere
11-17-2003, 11:51 PM
Also, someone asked awhile back about being a DVC member. Well DH and I are members since 10/01. We have 100 points at VWL and all the rest at VB. We never plan more than a couple months out so we figured we would buy where they were giving the best deal.

BTW, to keep you up to date on the new house - we are finally having a pre-drywall inspection tomorrow. We were told that it should only be 30 days from drywall to closing. Arlene ... Congrats on your new Vue (Bad news is they come with the book of the month club).

Ave ... Bummer on what happened to your DMIL ... how she has a speedy recovery. Bet the staff will be extra nice to her now. That's my once scare about hospitals - especially if you have any alergic reactions to meds.

Kim & Bette ... Art said :smooth: that you are getting the $ back. I was looking over the Bernie pictures again last night and lauching my butt off. Think about this ... he got on the ship without paying and had the time of his "life" touring around the ship and his excursions off the ship!

Well gotta interrupt this Day Dream for work!

Mary -- Your ideas of the horse-drawn carriage ride and dinner cruise in Charleston sounds absolutely marvelous! Also, for those of us who are DVC members, I know that there is at least one hotel in Charleston that we can rent on points. I have been thinking about doing that, anyway. The only time I have ever been in Charleston was on business, and I never got to see anything but the hospital where I was auditing (MUSC), my hotel and the airport. I am ready to go! Ave,
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* to your MIL:wave2:

Mary,
in this case you have to do the Carriage & Cruise program twice next year :D
BTW, Anja and I have our vacation-planning-meetings with our colleagues 12/12/03 . This means we could finalize our plans then. We're trying our best to get four weeks in a row again, but we're not sure, wether we shall do 2-cruise-1 or 3-cruise. It all depends on the available flights and the price the airlines want for a "forked" flight Frankfurt-Charleston/Orlando-Frankfurt. It is possible that a simple return flight Frankfurt-Charleston is much cheaper. In this case we would prefer 2-cruise-1 and take a week for the return from the Port to Charleston, exploring St. Augustine and Savannah. But perhaps all this is futile and we only get three weeks.

Anja's on the sick-list right now: She hurt her left shoulder doing cable-crossovers last friday. One of her ward's doctors did an ultrasonic examination and found more liquid than usual in the shoulder. He suspects a partially torn sinew of the biceps :( Keep your fingers crossed, that it is only overstretched and not torn. Anja has an MRT-examination tomorrow afternoon which should give us certainty. Subsequently I moved my work-out time into the lunchbreak to be home earlier. Our gym has a branch about a mile from my office, which allows me to get there, run 5-6 miles, shower and get back to the office in about 90 minutes - It also saves a lot of calories as it doesn't leave me with time to eat :earseek:

Hi! Finally making it to the board!

Don called a bit ago and he made it safely into Leon, Mexico with a meeting in Guanajuato tomorrow. Back sometime Thursday evening.

Anja-- Hope your shoulder heals quickly.

Renee-- Can't wait to see Haley's birthday pics! What a cutie she is and I bet you guys all had a blast at her party. Happy Birthday, Haley!

Fiona-- Keep us posted on Jim's appt. this afternoon.

Bette & Kim-- Glad Disney finally came through for you with the reimbursement of difference in categories. Seems only fair.

It's pretty warm here today, in the 60's, but cloudy and we're expecting rain. Oh, well, could be that dreaded 's' word.

Avé-- Sorry to hear about your MIL. That's quite scary.

Eric-- We got the lists. Glad to see you and Anja will be cruising with us and thanks for taking on the task of the list again.

One last thing--- Today is prematurity awareness day. If you would like to click on the little hospital wristband at www.marchofdimes.com ,that would be great! Having had a premature baby 25 years ago, I know firsthand what a tough situation that is to be in.

Happy Birthday, Mickey Mouse!

Colleen - Your link is not working. :(

Hi back to Peter and to everyone else. Hope y'all are doing well and that Ave's DMIL and Anja get better soon. (Also Kathy and Jim, hoping for good news!)

You guys, I am popping in here less and less. So, if any kind of meet is planned, please make sure you let me know via email (that is, of course, if Rich and I are welcomed  ).

Speaking of meets - Cathy, we may be going up your way Christmas weekend. Not an easy time to get together and not confirmed at all yet but the possibility is there. I'll let you know more by email if it becomes a definite and maybe we can get together for a short while if your schedule allows it.

Son has bronchitis. He never ever used to get sick at all. This has been the sickest year for him in all his 19 years!

Rich and I are well. We were up in Boston 11/8-9 to visit niece at college and had a great visit. Never been to Massachusetts before. Hope to get back up there again when the weather turns warm again, sometime next Spring.

Missing all my cruising buddies. The Cruisetoberfest picture is on our 'fridge and I smile everytime I look at it. One question, however, who is the gentleman in the back on the left located between Doug and Rodney? Is he a Cruisetoberfester I never met or just someone who decided to join the photo shoot?

Anyone hear from Dan? And I still waiting to hear how Bernie's pictures turned out and if he returned home to his family.

Hi Guys, Kim here, I guess I have nothing else to do (yeah right, this is just better than dusting my bedroom) so here is a fun thing. We all tend to forget faces and or names so here is a link to the Disers photo taken on the ship. I have one photo with your faces covered with green circles and a number, and the second photo just as it was taken. Take a peek (you can make the photos full size for easier viewing by 1st double clicking on
the photo and then clicking near the bottom right on the screen and you can choose full size photo ) and then you can post what # you are and then we all have a refresher for putting names & faces together.

Hi to everyone!!! Boy, it's been way too long since I've posted. Things here have been crazy!!

Pixie Dust to all that are not feeling 100%!!!

Emily is her usual self, getting into everything. She's talking even more now, and she can even count to 10 in spanish. Thanks to Dora the Explorer (her favorite)!!

I went to the doctor yesterday. I'm 16 weeks now, and the baby is doing fine. Actually, he or she is quite a mover. It took the dr about 5 minutes to find the heartbeat because (s)he kept moving around. I will go for my ultrasound on 12/16, so hopefully we'll get to learn the sex. If we do, we're going to wait to tell family until Christmas day.

Chris has been busy with work and church. And, just before the cruise, he joined a society of barbershop singers, and they are getting ready for Christmas concerts. He actually sings quite well, so this is right up his alley.

Well, I better get going, but anyone coming to WDW, please let us know. We are there at least once a month, and we love it when visitors are in town. Heck, we were there this weekend just to get the new passholder pin and to get Chris and Emily's haircuts at the barber shop.

Take care everyone!!!

Mary -- As you may know, I am a nurse but not currently taking care of patients. For about a year after we moved to Charlotte, I traveled throughout NC & SC auditing hospital bills for insurance companies (to make sure charges were correct). MUSC was one of my stops. This was about 15 years ago, and I worked with another nurse from MUSC comparing charges to medical record. Can't remember her name, but she was really nice and a pleasure to work with. Went back to "real" nursing and even teaching in the school of nursing part-time here for a while. Now I spend my days fighting with insurance companies to reimburse the hospital for patient care. Try to impress them with my clinical knowledge and convince them that the patient really did need to be hospitalized (sometimes true and sometimes not!).

Hi Everyone,

Happy belated birthday to Haley -- doesn't time fly?

Amy - glad things are going well with the new one.

Jim went to the doctor and now he has to go for another test. It's some kind of stress test but with pictures -- can't remember the name of it. He has to call and make the appointment today but was told that he might not be seen before Christmas. He then has to go back and see the cardiologist after the test. At this rate he might know what's wrong by the next time we cruise!

Ave - hope your mil is doing better today. Hospitals are scary places. There have been 2 hospitals here in the last month that have disclosed that they did not sterilize instruments properly for some tests. For one hospital it was prostate tests and the other hospital it was colon and throat tests. I think the tubes were washed but not disinfected. They say that there's a low risk but any risk is more risk than anyone wants to be exposed to.

Hope Anja is feeling better too.

Wishing Kathy the best too.

Must get back to work. My desk looked great when I got here this morning but now looks like a tornado hit it.

Kim,

The numbering on the faces is a great idea. I'm #9, Haley is #7 and Lenny is #8.

Amy - glad to hear that everything is moving along good with the pregnancy.

I'll have to put Haley's birthday pictures up on a website (when I have time, haha) and post the link for all who want to see.

Gotta run, my desk looks like hurricane Haley hit it.:teeth:

Hi Folks,
Anja was lucky: It's just a strained muscle, nothing's torn :Pinkbounc But she had to go through the MRT twice. Those jerks didn't read the doctor's instructions thoroughly and checked only the rotary cuff and the biceps. The doc wrote instructions to check the pectoralis as well and so they had to do it again. Anja spent about three hours there  She's already feeling better and is envious, because I can go and do The Pump tomorrow at the gym.

Mary,
we're looking forward to touring Charleston with you. If possible Anja would also like to see your hospital to get an impression of a nurse's work in the USA.
My colleague returned from his vacation today and we compared our vacation planning for next year. There aren't any conflicts :yo-yo: Now we only have to wait for Anja and then we're ready to go.

I'm going to take a day off on Friday to have an extended weekend and will use the opportunity to go our recently reopened Museum of Archaeology in Frankfurt displaying one of the finest collection of dinosaurs and Egyptian artefacts in the world.

Alikat99, so good to hear from you. And glad to hear that you are well into the 2nd trimester. Question...Do we have to wait till Christmas to learn whether you're having a boy or girl? We promise not to tell.:teeth:
jeanniec, the insurance companies are a nightmare. And they love to blame the doctors/nurses for putting down the "wrong" codes. I spend more time on the phone with insurance companies then I do patients. And the patients just assume we know that last month thier insurance company sent them a letter, which they threw away, that stated the could only have thier lipids checked on the 2nd Friday of each month, and because we gave them an order for bloodwork, and didn't tell them to wait till next Friday, that they should not have to pay for the test that thier insurance company is refusing to pay for. Then call and scream at me when the lab turns thier bill over to a collection agency. Like I said...nightmare.:hyper: Sorry...I got carried away. LOL Nursing..ya gotta love it!
Eric, glad to hear that Anja is doing better. Did you ever get the pictures I snail mailed you?
MIL doing better, we're going to try and spring her tomorrow.

I also have been fighting with an insurance company all week!A doctor ordered a TENS unit (for back pain) for a pregnant patient. The patient is in horrible pain, and has been, despite everything tried so far (meds, massage,PT) and wants to avoid narcotics. The insurance company wants a letter (already sent 3 times) so they can "review" it. This may take up to 4 weeks!!??? In the mean time the patient is suffering:(

Eric, sorry Anja had to go throgh the scan again. That is why they are called "Doctors ORDERS" NOT "doctors suggestions"! Anyway, good to hear she will have a full recovery!
Tell Anja I would be happy to show her around the clinic/hospital.Have fun at the museum.

Just popping in to say hi.

I must have been having a senior moment when I tried to figure out how we were doing the picture numbers. I didn't see the picture with the numbers over the faces the first time I went in to look. I got confused when Colleen said she was number 21 and I was right next to her. Anyway, I am #17 and Norm is #11.

Hope everyone soon is feeling better.

Just think 1 week until Thanksgiving. I guess we will be stuffing our faces and enjoying a day off while our German and Candian friends are working. Then it is off to shop on Black Friday. Actually, I avoid the stores that day and will be working.

Renee -- Haley's so adorable. Love the picture when she eating the cake! She looks like she's grown since the cruise and she's certainly standing on her own. They grow so fast it's amazing.

Welcome Art -- nice that men are posting this time. I know that Jim reads the thread but can't get him to post. Says that he has nothing to say. Told him just to say hi!

And yup we will be at work next Thursday and Friday -- our Thanksgiving was on the cruise. I use the American Thanksgiving as a clue to start to get ready for Christmas. We will have Christmas Eve at our house and Christmas Day will be at my brother and SIL's this year. My DB and SIL have spent the last few years travelling on Christmas Day but this year they want to host it so that's fine by me although I think I'll miss leftover turkey!

We are doing a cookie exchange at work and it looks like there will be 10-12 of us so one weekend soon I'll be baking a lot of cookies!

This week has seemed so long and there's still one more day to go before the weekend.

Must get back to work. Survivor tonight though!!!

Renee,
we're here :wave2:

Anja's better. We're going to work out tomorrow again - Just some running, 8 miles or so, no upper body training.

We checked the 2004 calendar for our vacation planning today and guess what: I discovered that we will probably fly to Charleston on 9-11  I checked out the flights already and found a travel agency offering Frankfurt-Charleston/Orlando-Frankfurt for €1200 and Hertz only wants about $100 extra for renting a car in Charleston and dropping it off at the Cape.

Mike&Kathy, Dave&Ellen and Art&Cathy,
I sent the voucher today to DCL accompanied by the request to link our ressies again. I also requested an upgrade to a Cat 6 or 7, which should cost us $800-1000.

Wow, even Art has posted. I will have to really work on getting Norm to post at least one time.

Cute pictures of Haley's Birthday party.

Welcome back Don.

I fell asleep during Survivor. Who got voted off?

The weekend is suppose to be beautiful in the 60's. Going out to see DS#2 hockey games again this weekend. Last trip to western PA until after Christmas break.

It was slow at work today, so went to do a little Christmas shopping. Plus bought my son's their Hess Trucks. I have been buying them nearly every year since they were born. So have 20 years of Hess trucks. I think I missed one year which DS#2 told me to go to yard sales to find it. Other than a few they played with when they were little, the rest are in the orginal boxes. I don't think the newer ones are worth as much as older models. It is my Christmas tradition to buy them every year.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi Everybody!
Enjoyed my day off today! First one in 2 weeks. Stayed in bed reading most of the morning. Then brought DD shopping for a winter coat.
Welcome home Don!
Mother-in-law got sprung from the hospital yesterday. She is very happy to be home!
I'm going back to school! I've been looking into the RN program, and I plan on taking at least one of the required couses this Jan. It will take a long time, but the longest journeys starts with a single step.....right???:p
I won a turkey yesterday!http://www.paulsxp.com/smilies/contrib/serenity/turkey.gif I was buying cat food and litter box stuff, and an anoucement came over the PA system to look for a number on the floor. And the number is....69. I looked down and there it was! I was the only person in the entire aisle! So then here come 4 smiling store employees with this great big frozen turkey! BINGO luck!!

Ave -- How cool to have won the turkey! It seems as tho I never win anything. Great that you are going back to school. I always wanted to be a nurse, but everybody talked me out of it. So I majored in accounting and after 4 years of college and a degree in acct, no one would hire me because I was a woman. Yes, that was a long time ago. Worked in the mortgage business for a while, taught for a while (took my education credits while in college). Finally when the 2-year nursing program rolled around, I got my RN at last. My son who was only a year old came to my graduation! Then later I went back and got my BSN. After that I got about 1/2 of a MSN when I decided that I needed a break from school. I am ever so glad that I finally got to become a nurse. Was really hard to do with 2 kids and a husband and home to take care of, but I was really proud of what I accomplished and you will be, too. Go for it -- and good luck!

after rechecking 2004's calendar we found out that most holydays in Germany fall on weekends:mad: which makes is kind of impossible to stretch our meager 31 days ;) So we will probably arrive in Charleston between 09/14 and 09/18, then go on to Savannah, then to Panamy City and finally to the Port. Hi guys,
Just got back from California a few days ago. I had a blast at Disneyland, but I gotta admit that California Adventure is a bit of a disappointment. TofT has not yet opened and Superstar Limo was down the entire time I was there. I enjoyed the Aladdin show and LOVED the roller-coaster! Other than that everything else was a "been there-done that" type of attraction! We got to see "The Producers" in LA with Jason Alexander and Martin Short and for me, that was the highlight of the whole trip (along with the fact that I got to spend 2 days with my son who lives in LA)

I will be having a houseful for Thanksgiving and need to devote my energy to cleaning, shopping and cooking the next several days. If I'm not able to get to this board, I want to wish each and every one of you now a very happy and safe holiday. I will certainly remember my DISboard friends when I count my blessings. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I took the kids to see Brother Bear today. Cute movie, but Finding Nemo is STILL my current Disney favorite!

We head to Washington DC on Wednesday for Thanksgiving with my olderst sister and her family. She is tring again to get us White House Tour tickets. This is our 4th trip to DC at Thanksgiving, but the Friday after Thanksgiving also seems to be the day the White House is decorated for Christmas. Welcome home jeanneg! Enjoy your company! Glad you had a nice trip.

jeanniec...My DS was born 4 weeks before I finished nursing school. I missed only 2 days of school! He was born on a Thursday (I went to clinicals that day) and I was back in school on Tuesday! If I missed more then 20 hours, I would not have been premitted to take my boards! I cried a LOT that Tuesday! My DS was only 5 days old and I had to be away from him all day!

Ave' -- You are working 2 jobs plus the family and you are going to school! That is really something and I admire your ambition. And you are right -- even if you take one course at a time, you will be on your way. I know I took some of the non-clinical classes (microbiology, nutrition, etc.) at night while I was still teaching during the day. It takes time, but I think you appreciate it so much more when you have had to work so hard to reach your goal.

Mary -- Wow, having your DS 4 weeks before graduation! I know what you mean about not being able to miss much school. Our children are adopted, and I was doing my OB rotation when our son arrived. I had asked to work in the nursery first since we were expecting him any day, and I wanted to be an expert on babies before we received ours. I couldn't take more than a couple of days off, either, but luckily he arrived a couple of weeks prior to spring vacation so I had the whole summer with him before I went back to school to finish. At least I didn't have the physical exhaustion that you would have had when you went back to work.

Jeanneg -- How great to be able to see The Producers! I envy you. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving, and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone else on this board!

Hi Folks,
just got great news from my insurance broker: Our car was downgraded to a lower risk-level, which reduces our yearly premium by €300 ($350 or 65 cocktails on the Magic), which is about 40%. They originally considered it high risk, because the small sedan with the same engine it is based on was involved in lots of accidents. But convertibles are usually driven more carefully - Cruising, not racing!! And so we can profit from it. And it also raises its value as a used car, because it becomes more affordable. We expect to get about 60-65% of its original value when we trade it in in spring 2005.

Ave, congrats on going for it! I may do the same when I get back to Florida. I looked into the LPN to RN program here and it is just not possible to do while working full time. :( The weekend program sounds like a great deal.

We had our 1st day in our new clinic today. It went much better then we expected! A few computers are not working, and the phone system needs some "tweeking" but other then that, it went well.

Have fun in DC, all of you that are going to be there. We have never been to Washington, DC. Think about it frequently now that we are closer here in NC than we were in Chicago. However --- it seems that we always end up doing something Disney (DCL cruise and/or DVC resorts). Hmmm - could that be some kind of addiction or something??

News for all the Disney-addicts and another reason to visit Europe (A newspaper clipping from Germany):
Arosa, Switzerland: In the Swiss skiing town of Arosa kids of all ages may go skiing with Mickey and Donald this winter. The town located in Switzerland's kanton (Kanton=State) Graubünden has been chosen by the Walt Disney Company to become their exclusive partner for the newly opened "Alpen Club Micky Maus". The Grand Opening is scheduled for 11/29/03.
From this day on Micky Maus (German spelling!!) and more well-known Disney-characters will accompany Families and kids during their vacation in Arosa. 13 hotels of the Five- to Three-star category take part in the venture. In the ski-school of "Club Micky Maus" the little ones will make their first steps on skis in "Micky's Schneestation" (Mickey's Snowstation) or "Donald's Skiarena (No translation necessary IMHO;) ) to learn all the alpine wintersports.
The Grand Opening on November 29th will offer a lot of surprises for the guests. Disney will show it's Xmas-blockbuster "Finding Nemo" (Remark of the translator: It has just started in Europe on 11/20/03), Disney animators will be present and teach the kids how to sketch their dearest friends.
Micky, Donald & Co will sign autographs and pose for souvenir photos. Under supervision of experienced ski- and snowboard instructors you may experience your first swings in the snow, and you may also enjoy the big Laser- and effect-show "Mountains of Fantasy".
For kids up to 16 years of age the Grand Opening including a day-ticket for all the lifts is free of charge, adults will pay about $15.

Perhaps this may lure some of you to wonderful Switzerland.

I meant to mention it a few weeks ago but we got a 95 on our JCAHO score. The hospital had a 100 but of all places to bring us down was Human Resources! We were supposed to have a "little extra" in our pay for the good work but no one has seen it yet.

I went to school when all three of my kids were 2-5-7. It was so hard to get my RN but thanks to Mike, I made it. He did a lot of house work and childrearing as well as his job at the railroad. He also helped me pass Chemistry. I just hated it when I first started then it got a little interesting when I understood what I was doing. He also got me through Algebra. He is a first rate hubby. Now he helps me with the babies at NFN and loves it. (At least he tells me he does.:teeth: ) Mike is just the best. So Ave, go for it girl! You will not be sorry.

I have been a nurse for the past 19 years. All in the same nursery at the same hospital.

Speaking of nurseries, I gotta go feed my three babies now. Take care everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving! Don't eat too much. ;)

Ave,
thanks for the links. I'm checking them out. Additionally I ordered a broschure from the PCB tourist info.
And: No, we do not ski. We know how the Alpes look like in summer: So much environmental damage caused by the skiers :(

Happy Anniversary, Mary and George!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone else!

I am screwed........guests (well, family guests) will arrive in just about an hour and my kitchen is still a disaster area. Somebody please get me a magic wand! Second best solution: break open the wine and don't give a flying you-know-what!

We had a wonderful time Thanksgiving Day. We went to the Cracker Barrel for dinner.:teeth: No muss, no fuss. Everyone had other places to go after our dinner so we let them go and had a wonderful, quiet evening at home. Only one drawback for Mike, no turkey sandwiches or turkey hash. (shiver) This was Mike's plan for dinner and since he is the main cooker now I thought it was a fine plan. I hate trying to find places in the refrig. for left overs and at my house they are rarely eaten. I do have a pecan pie to make for a lady at NFN for Monday though. She is toothpick thin and wants to fatten up a little. (Oh the poor thing! Just wish I had that problem  ) :p

Mike and I have had a good two days off of work. We have just been making bibs for the babies and talking. Would like to take another cruise before THE CRUISE but not able to right now.

Katie and her mama and dad are starting their drive back to Tennessee tomorrow (Saturday) and should be home sometime Sunday. I can't wait to see them.

The weather has turned right chilly today. We had snow flurries briefly but nothing stuck. It is just downright cold. Our water bed heater does not work right and we just leave it off or it just keeps heating. Well, tonight I wish I had told Mike to plug it in for tomorrow so when I get home it would be toasty. Oh well.

Gotta get off now and feed a baby. Take care everyone. Kathy

Happy anniversery Mary and George

Mary---- Glad you made it back home safe and sound. Did you do the zoo Friday in all that rain?

Took my sons Christmas shopping today for clothes. DS#1 wanted a real Navy pea coat so we went to an Army/Navy Store to get that. Actually the coat we got is in really good condition. Will take it to get dry cleaned and that is one of his Christmas gifts. I tried to talk him into a Lands End or LL Bean one and he didn't want it, so he is happy with the one we bought. I haven't been in one of those stores for years and it was amazing all the stuff in the store and how busy they were.

Norm and I bought a digital camera. Now will see if we can work it on our WDW trip next week. DS#1 was showing us how to use it. It doesn't seem too complicated yet.

DS#1 just left to go back to college tonight and DS#2 will leave tomorrow. They will have 2 weeks left of school and then will be back home for 4 weeks.

I got out all the Dept 56 Dicken's Village houses that go in the living and dining room out so slowly working on getting the house decorated. If it isn't to cold and windy tomorrow, we might try to get the lights out. Last weekend would have been perfect to do that, but since we were away we have to put ours up in the cold.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Hi

Well for xmas Jen and i got each other new Appliances
since we bought the house 2 years ago She has put up with an
ELectric stove We like gas..... So she got her new Gas Stove with an electric convection oven... and i the new side by side
fridge.... and the dog got the dishwasher and microwave...
GE all stainless steel.... Had Plumber George over yesterday
fridge now has water and is making icecubes and u can get a cup from the door.... and the microwave is hooked up ..
above the stove..... We went to put the dishwasher in and it is damaged.... so we have to wait to call GE customer care to get another sent out.. We Bought them at the Home Depot
But they do not carry in store they order from GE and then GE ships to house... so we could not just take back and get another
and it was getting late in the day so gas line did not get installed
to where we need it ... Monday stove will be in and then we will have to wait for GE to send out another dishwasher....

looks very nice , and the Xmas decorations are going up
we have not gotten the lights up outside , should have done it about 2 weeks ago when weh ad a warm day now it is cold and windy... also we might have to do a 3 or 4 day cruise to tide us over... til october......

Work 33 hours in 3 days! That's what I did. I kept thinking, is it Monday yet? Worked 6:30 am to 11 pm on Friday. Then 6:30 am to 3 pm Sat. and Sun. Back to #1 job tomorrow. LOL But I did have off on Thanksgiving Day! Next day off is Dec 13th.
I am going to cut back my hours at job #2 next year.
Can't believe Dec is here already!
Mary...Welcome home. Glad you had a good time with Sister Sue.
DH is busy putting up the Christmas lights and decorations. Still nice weather here. A little chilly in the morning, but it warmed up to 70 today, so we're not complaining.

Got to run, and take a nap!

Hi everyone!! Been really busy lately so haven't posted in a while. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Was busy working, of course, since our Thanksgiving is in October.

It's that time of the year when everything has to be finished up. Our year end is December 31st and all accounts have to be done and in by then. Means that we are really busy the last half of November and through December and then are sitting around in January. Wish it could be spread out a little more but that's life.

Am hoping to put up the tree next weekend and start wrapping but we'll see. Can't believe how few weekends there are til Christmas. Next weekend we have a play Sat night, an open house Sunday and the following weekend is the firm Christmas party on Friday night and then on the 19th is the Christmas party for my biggest client. Hopefully they will all be fun.

DS is wondering when he's going to get his Xmas shopping done so I said that I would take him one night this week that he's not working or has something else going on -- that doesn't leave much as he's working tonight, has Spanish class tomorrow night and on Thursday he goes to the Reserves.

Must get back to work! Hope everyone is well.
