We got our docs!! :cheer2: We got our docs!! :cheer2: We got our docs!! :cheer2:

Our stateroom is 7629, which puts us in our 'usual environment' after having cruised in 7122, 7123 & 7124. All four staterooms are Deck 7 Aft. We're neighbors to Fiona, JeanneG, Ave' and Alan.

Congrats on snatching #4500, Van
And my condolences to Ciara fo not snatching it :teeth:

No docs here yet, either! Almost accosted our temp mail carrier when he arrived. All for nothing! After looking at Erics master list and the deck plans, I have decided it is a good thing I went crazy on some extra door magnest. If DH and I just aim for a green shirted Mickey, we could be end up in someone elses room!:faint: It is our last day at work and then our 4 day break. Time for some quality time! Hope everyone has a great weekend and remember - Take it easy on your USPS person!

Thank you, Sara'sMom from PA, for letting me know about the Grand Pineapple Resort in Aruba.

Piglet33, are many people from the Oct 2 Magic cruise going to the Grand Pinapple in Aruba? Do they charge $45 per child also? Do you know how much a taxi would be from the ship to the resort?

Thanks for your help. This will be our first Disney cruise. Can't wait!

Jill -- About car-surfing -- my secretary's nephew's friend was killed last weekend riding a skateboard hanging onto a car. The skateboard hit a manhole cover and he went flying and hit his head. Unfortunately he wasn't wearing a helmet. He was only 16. All of the kids involved are traumatized by what happened and it's such a tragedy.

Jim hasn't said that our docts have arrived so I'm assuming they haven't. Hopefully they will soon.

Nice that we will have so much company around our room. We debated being on deck 7 as we did like being on deck 2 last year but decided to go for it.

Can't wait to see everyone -- much better than work!!

Is anyone in the Military/Police/Firefighter wearing their formal uniform on formal night? I've been thinking about wearing my Army Blues and got approval from my chain of command. It will be a great opportunity to get a nice picture with the family.

Has anyone seen this on past seven day cruises. I've seen posts about it but I haven't made up my mind for sure yet.

Yes,
I've seen it on board, but not very often.
We even had a lively discussion about it some time ago on the Debate Board ;)

Great afternoon!! Tried calling my SIL & BIL in VB and Betty actually answered the phone. They got their electricty & phone back last night so they can buy food now and eat it in air conditioned comfort. Much sooner than my other SIL who lives in VB part-time predicted.

But the best news was when I called home to tell Sam that Betty and Dick were back in their house, he told me that our docs had arrived today! Hip, hip, hooray!!! I am so happy. Can't wait to get home and look at them myself. Unfortunately, today of all days, I am going directly from work to babysit my DGS so that my DD can go to a PTA meeting. So I won't be able to look at them until about 9 pm. I no longer have to worry about whether we REALLY have a reservation.

Hi Everyone, Just sitting here trying Not to tune into the weather channel. I am a little burned out on hurricanes. I refuse to believe FL will get hit again. It's just not possible.

We found a dress on e-bay. DD is also going through that hard to fit stage. But the dresses have measurements listed. So I used these to guide me. The dress is ordered, so well have to see how well we did when it gets here. princess:

No doc here. We didn't get them early last year either. I am taking a day off tomorrow! I have my list of things to do and things to buy. And I will do my best to get as much done as possible. Plus I would love to sleep till 8am for a change.

Eric, So glad you got your docs!

Hi to Rosemary!

Eric - I hope you and your wife have a safe flight and the weather does not interfere with your plans.

I did not know men wore their dress uniforms on formal night. Could dh where his fireman blues?

I am finally planning our Antigua day & have decided on a 1/2 day tour. I have a list of a few recommended companies. Would anyone like to join us? We're thinking historic sites, beach, & lunch. PM me if interested.

I'm thinking (or is it hoping?) CC will be a go for both.....even though we had no excursions for Key West planned, I'll still be a bit bummed if we don't go.....It was going to be our last liquor store stop, too!

I bet I can find the fritters around, but I saw this place called BO's on the Travel Channel and my mouth was watering at the sight of them!!

Thank for all the good wishes for our flight. For those of you who want to follow our progress (Like Mike did in 2001), we will be on US0893 FRA-MCO, ETA in MCO 1952 (0752pm).
I just booked a night at a DaysInn in Orlando and two nights at an EconoLodge in Savannah. Going to Crystal River would be a waste of vacation-time with Ivan approaching, so we decided to tour another gem of the South. If the weather is bad we could even go to the Airforce Museum in Savannah. Anybody been there?

And here comes an urgent last minute request: Does anyone of you have the possibility to obtain a broschure of the new Mustang from a Ford-dealer? I'd do it myself, but out of experience I know that those cardealers don't really appreciate foreigner who have no real intention of buying.

Eric,

We've been to the Airforce Museum. It's pretty cool. They have lots of different planes and a really nice memorial area. Only went there once when we went to visit the Mother-In-Law. Thankfully, we haven't been back to Savannah since that's where she lives. ;)

Eric and Anja...have a wonderful and safe trip. Hopefully, Ivan will stay far away from you. Savannah is one of my favorite cities to visit. We did the trolley tour (you can get off and on as you please) and went to see the house from the movie, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (I think that is the name of the movie and book!) and the Juliet Low house (Girl Scout founder). There is a great little restaurant in Savannah which is called "Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House" --it is a famous Savannah landmark so everyone knows where it is and you just look for the line forming on the front walkway and smell the great food. Mrs. Wilkes died last year (she was in her 90's). When we ate there, she was still quite active and was helping to clear the tables, etc.

Avé and family...stay safe with the approaching storm. Can't wait to see you guys and have my movie partner back!!

Hope you have a smooth flight over here, Eric & Anja. I think you will love Savannah. We were there only one time, but I would love to go back. So many fascinating buildings to see. Sam, however, is not that interested in history. He said "they should knock these old buildings down and build something more modern!" Can't believe I have stayed married to him for so many years when he comes out with comments like that. See you soon!

Nancy:

Andys parents live in Boynton Beach(West Palm Beach area). They were lucky and only lost some of the screen panels over their pool and their power for about 18 hours. My brother lives in Boca Raton and when I finally was able to talk to him on Monday he said they went down to his in laws house in the Keys on Thursday but as of Monday they still have no power. I guess now that Ivans coming his in laws will be coming up to him. He does have a boat down in the Keys so I hope everything is okay for all of them.

Thank you very much for asking...Cant wait to see you and Norm again..

Eric and Anja: good luck on your trip. hope all goes safely and well.

I truly hope that we are all able to make it to florida and enjoy our cruise together.Lets all hope this is the last hurricane till at least the end of October..

Most Importantly ... ANJA AND ERIC, PLEASE HAVE A SAFE FLIGHT!

Secondly ... Those of you in Florida (or who have relatives there), guess you need to batton down the hatches again with Ivan. Please be careful and don't make the mistake Shirley made. If you stay, don't venture out until you are absolutely sure all is well.

 Called DCL and got the UPS tracking # for our documents. They were mailed yesterday the 9th, by 3 day delivery and are "scheduled to arrive 9-14-04". Maybe it's me but that seems like more than 3 days :earseek: .

They did say Port Canaveral is back up and running again.

At least when I was on hold for 20 minutes, I got to hear that wonderful music fromthe Disney Dreams Show! AH!!!

Well the good news is that it's Friday but :earseek: :earseek: really wish I was all packed.

Have fun on the Magic and hopefully, you will have smooth sailing! We had to cancel out of the repo cruise next August as Sam's plant went out of business and after 33 years there, he is now out of work! I'm thinking of getting my dog a paper route..she is soo cute and I told Sam that she would probably get good tips. Hi Dan and Scott:wave2: I was just thinking about you the other day as I saw this really big lighted flamango in a store. Norm made a comment since we didn't get Pinky in Key West maybe we could buy are own Pinky. This one even had a lighted Palm Tree with it. Enjoy your trip.

Ave-- I feel the same way that I will miss all the friends on the boards when I don't cruise with them next year. Because I am the Chairperson for my professional groups NE Regional conference which is the 3rd weekend in Oct 2005, we won't be cruising until after that is over. Plus we would really like to go on another of RCCL Voyager class ships again either Mariner of the Sea or the Navigator. I know people on these boards are diehard DCL fans but we don't mind RCCL or even Carnival. We found each cruiseline has both postive and negatives. We always try to go on a cruise where we can try at least one new port of call. We have used our DVC points for the past 2 cruises so would like to stay back at OKW again on points. The only thing that I will truely miss not doing the DCL is the wonderful friends that I have made.

Isn't there some place on the cruise boards that they move you post cruise and you can stay in touch?

Enough sitting in front of the computer for tonight.

FYI -- my DD works with a woman whose DD is a CM on either the Magic or the Wonder (can't remember which ship but I need to find out before we cruise). Anyway, she (the CM) said that the major damage at CC was trees down -- that everything else is still there. This confirms what was said on the main cruise board -- that the damage at CC was only cosmetic and that we should be able to make our stop there. I am a happy camper!!! Now if the hurricanes and storms would just stop.

What's this talk about going to Grand Pineapple resort in Aruba?
Did I miss something or did someone hit the schnaps early?

Does anyone know if Eric and Anja arrived safely?

I'm planning to go to Chapel Hill today to get my contribution to the sailaway party. I'm not saying what it is but those of you who have been on this board since way back when will find it very fitting!

Boy, I must be really out of it, because when I read that post I missed the Aruba part and just assumed it said Antigua. Boy, I do I really need this vacation.

Found my magnets today...now to begin searching for my memory!!

think the OP wanted to know about the Pineapple Resort on Antigua not Aruba.(she just posted the wrong island)..but heck after this hurricane season we may end up on Aruba....after a few drinks on board, we wouldn't even know the difference!

Suecott...we were on the August repo cruise but had to cancel but I know that we will be going on another one thanks to DVC points and now we can drive down since we don't have to worry about DH having to get back for work!!

Nancy...Sarah and I were thinking that we might like to go on a RCCL cruise so we are game!!

Kim...what is the website for the restaurant we are going to on St. Thomas...I can't remember the page that you posted the link on and did you say that it is only cash?

Jill...sorry about the job loss...DH just experienced the same thing and it does suck. Same with us, not alot of industry around here so finding a new job will not be easy. He was with old company for 33 years and practically had perfect attendance every year so that hopefully will be in his favor. He can collect unemployment for 130 weeks since his job went overseas (under NAFTA)--we are in PA though so don't know if every state has the same.

zapp1213...Sarah is hoping that Heidi will be hanging out with her on CC...Ciara where is the glass bottom boat excursion...we never did get an excursion booklet from either DCL or DVC.

Hi, Everyone
Just got home from job#2. They are already getting ready to evacuate the residents if the storm heads this way. Just one more weekend at job #2, and 3 weeks at job#1. Boy I am ready NOW!:teeth:
We will not be doing anymore cruiseing in the next year or two. We have a family reunion in Washington DC next summmer, after that we will just have to wait and see. Since we are only 7 hours from Disney, we can go down there to get our dis-fix when the mood strikes.
I would definitly be interested in keeping in touch with everyone. Whether we start our own site, or do the community thing. Or just an e-mail now and then.::yes::

Dan, Thanks for stopping by. We miss you too.

Haven't heard from Eric and Anja, but I'm thinking that is a good sign.:sunny:

Avé and family...stay safe and lets hope that Ivan makes a turn and misses you guys. Pretty bad when you start to think that snow and ice isn't such a bad thing (would love to move to Florida but definitely having second thoughts!!)

Mary...are you moving back to Florida? I know you were having a gigantic yard sale because you would be moving in the next year and knew you still had a house in Florida (or maybe I mis-read this??) Have fun with Eric and Anja...Charleston and Savannah are two of my favorite southern cities (along with St. Augustine)

@GoofyNut
09-12-2004, 05:02 PM
I'm guessing Anja and Eric got to the States OK cause I've watched CNN and everything else I could think of to check on any problems.

QUICK ... Three weeks from today what will you be doing....... SAILING, SAILING OVER THE OCEANS GREAT! Just what did you think I was going to say!

Went crazy yesterday at our local mall and got Art a new sport jacket and 4 pair of pants and I got a few new outfits for dinner on the casual nights and some nice outfits for work ... all on sale. Sag Harbor skirts and tops at $7.50 each - couldn't pass that up.

Now to see if my formal night stuff still fits. Generally the only stuff we do that's formal is on the ship.

Well my Eagles are on right now, so I'm going to take 5.

Oops ... Ave, stay safe for Ivan.

Eric and Anja are in Savannah safe and sound. Uneventful flight and no problems in Orlando.
They will be in Charleston on Tuesday and we will meet up with them Tuesday night for cocktails. We then will play "tour guide" for a few days while we watch the storm and see if the next part of the trip (to Panama City Beach) will be possible.
Ivan GO AWAY!!!!

Mary Jo, yes we will be moving back to Fl next year. The yard sale went ok, but an early morning rain shower put a "damper" on things:p I did manage to get rid of a lot of stuff and the remaining stuff will go to a local church thrift shop.DH is happy to have the space back in his garage, and I'm glad to have the space back in the house!

Mark Martin did well yesterday and will be in the race for the championship!

We are also looking at a RCCL trip next Fall. Maybe we can pick a week that works for all of us???

Great news about CC!

Very sad news about Sophie:(

Ciara -- I will be thinking of you on your birthday (which is also our anniversary). Did I get that right? I get really confused on this board sometimes as to who is who. Also, what time are you going on the glass-bottom boat. We are going at 2:45. Are yoru mom and sister going too? Or just you?

Very sad about little Sophie. What an absolute tragedy -- almost an entire family wiped out.

Ave -- Where is Panama City Beach? In the panhandle, I think. More east or west? Hope Ivan stays far away from you.

It seems certain that we will go to CC, but not sure about our reservations at VB right after the cruise. I read a post on the general cruise board that they have canceled all reservations there thru 9/30 and that they may not open on 10/1 for sure. Earlier I read that they would reopen on 9/10, but that obviously is wrong. Oh well, we can always go to Vero but we don't very often even tho that is one of our home resorts. BIL & SIL live there, but since we like HH much better and now that we are taking our DGS to Disney, we have been using our VB points for the other resorts.

The whole Ritter saga is very tragic. So sorry to hear of Sophie's passing. May she rest in peace with her sister and Mother in the care of the angels.

Hope Ave is safe and that Ivan misses her.

RCCL sound good to us too ... they must have a Discussion Board that we can invade! My only request is that we try and depart from either Jacksonville, Tampa or Port Canaveral so we can still try and do a few days after cruise in WDW with our extended family of DIS'ers. We've never done any other line than DCL and will need help with how to's.

I didn't realize that the Wonder was going to Charleston. Was this port to replace CC? Mary should run down to the Port and take a few pictures. If on our DCL trip we end up in Charleston we can all go to Mary's for lunch.

I had only read a small amount about Sophie but it so sad.

I hope Ivan looses strength and doesn't hit Florida again. It does make our snow and ice not seem so bad. Now check with me in the winter to see if I feel the same way.

RCCL Mariner of the Sea which is a Voyager class ship sail out of Port Canaveral. They are a Sunday to Sunday sailing. So you could spend a few days at WDW post cruise. Cruise critic has their own boards and has seperate threads for different sailings. Also RCCL has an onboard reception for people who register through Cruise critic for a meet and greet. Light refreshments and prizes. I think you need 25 registered to have it. There are several of us interested so maybe we can plan something either the last week in Oct (Halloween cruise) or beginning of Nov. I can bring my RCCL information with me for anyone who is interested.

If I had just checked the boards at lunch time I could have gone up to the top floor of the hospital (wonderful view of both rivers!) and see it. I'm sorry that the weather is so yucky! The Wonder has been here before, running from a storm.
If our Magic cruise comes to Charleston, I'll be happy to play tour guide!

We've got a freezer full of ice, lots of batteries, and a nice strong brick house. There is a mandatory evacuation order in place for low lying areas, and coastal areas. Also, people in mobile homes are being asked to go to shelters. This is all effective at 11am Tues.

Jeanniec - believe it or not, I have a terrible fear of the water, so Kim graciously volunteered to go on the glass bottom boat with Ciara. Hopefully, I'll be whiling away the hours in hammock, happily waving at them from the shoreline. Happy anniversary to you!!!

Although my TA has our docs, she still hasn't checked them and forwarded them on. Today, my anticipation got the best of me and I made a phone call -- she'll be FedExing tomorrow for delivery to my office on Wednesday. I made her promise to call me with the tracking number, so I can see where they are. Who me, a control freak

The only thing worse than not getting your docs is knowing they're in and not having possession of them.

I can't pick them up because the TA is located at Fort Monmouth and the ex-BF works at Fort Dix and can't get there before they close.

Hint .. I just got one of those neat room scent-fan w/batteries thingys's for the "cabin smell". (Can you tell I can't remember the brand name!) I figure if it's automatic and puffs every so often, no plugs to worry about setting the ship on fire.

One question .. Does anyone know. If I get one of those plug in night lights that are the "led" type, when I turn off the lights for the bathrooms does that turn off the power to the outlets? I'm having a senior moment and can't remember.

Goofynut - have you tried the airfreshener to see how it smells? DH is very intolerant of real strong smells and I was looking at those too! I am interested in the electric issue too. I am taking the same kind (my favorite in the house, very soft light near the bed, keeps me from tripping over one of the herd!) Gotta get ready to go! Everyone take care and pixie dust to the UPS guy to speedily get to everyone's doors who are waiting!

Kim - I just call Ron Jon and found out I was next on the list to be called for cancelling our room. Glad that I'm working from home today since I now have to find someplace for us to stay or we'll be sleeping in the rental car.

Wonder where I am on their list since we haven't received any phone calls yet--we were also staying at Ron Jon's.

Let me know what everyone is doing? Bette...just pm'd you. Mary Jo

Just answered my phone at work and we were just cancelled at Ron Jon's. I told the girl that I was very annoyed to think that they wouldn't give us any options as to where else we might be able to get reservations on such short notice--I told her that I understood that they had damage but they should at least give us some options of where else to stay.

I use the LED type of nightlights and it works when the lights go out, if the box is working. Last year, our box with the outlets didn't work in the bathroom with the toilet. They said they would have someone look at it, but it never did work the entire cruise. In 2002, we used it and it worked like a charm.

Fiona, There is a mandatory evacution for many areas of Panama City, and Panama City Beach. We are not in an evacuation zone at the moment. What a bummer about the Ron Jon resort. We stayed there in August and it was gorgeous. I'm surprised it sustained so much damage because it looked like it was really well constructed..... I suppose even the studiest structures are no match for a hurricane. We cancelled our reservation at the Hyatt because it was too expensive, and made one at the La Quinta Airport North for $45/night. My DS 14 is a little shy and hoping there will be other teens his age (14) on the 10/02 cruise. He love sports, working out, XBOX and hanging out. Any other 14 year old young men going on this cruise? Any from the Plano/Dallas area in specific?
DS is totally against the "programmed" teen scene with one exception. He'll probably go to the spa/gym when it's reserved for the teens and maybe do the hoops event. If he found a buddy or two to hang with he'd be a lot happier. Otherwise he's got Mom and Dad and our other DS who's 9. Just thought I'd ask on his behalf (I did get his permission).

Good luck to everyone in Ivan's path. I have a friend going to PCB in a month and she's concerned about damage, so I've been giving her reports from Ave.

I've been reluctant about posting this, but the stress is getting the best of me. I've been dealing with an injury since early June that just takes time to heal (similar to Nancy, but on the other side of the leg). It's an inflammation and I'm finding out that stress makes it worse. I'm taking a certification test today to become a CSRP (has to do with collections). I've been studying for 2 1/2 months and hope I'm ready. I'll have to sit for 3 hours to take the exam today. Please wish me luck, cross your fingers, send pixie dust, what ever it takes so I don't go

Then maybe I can get on with the healing part of this injury (I have PT tomorrow for the first time).

As the last part before qualifying to become a lawyer we had to write 9 exams in 14 weeks. I was beat at the end of it and since my brother was writing them at the same time the stress in the house was unbelievable (we had to compete too!).

Off to work early this morning so that I can leave early and pick up my car (pay the bill too :( ) and then off to the Jays game to potentially see them lose too. Oh well there's always next season!

Everyone stay safe from the storms. Travel plans have been an adventure for lots of folks since these storms kicked in. The stories have been more riveting than a good chapter book. Just been watching CNN and reading the news headlines after that... there's been a tornado in Panama City Beach as part of the spawn-off from Ivan coming ashore. From what they showed it looked like extensive damage, but hopefully it's a really small area; they have a tendancy to make things look worse than it really is.

Tropical Storm Jeanne is moving out past Puerto Rico almost right through the Bahamas. The forecast is for it to be upgraded to a hurricane either today or tomorrow.

Sounds like it's going to be a l-o-n-g night for a lot of people.

I just heard from Ave. The tornado in PCB came down her street:earseek: She and the family are fine, but she said it was VERY scarey! The tornado then tore the roof off a resturant called Hamiltons just a few blocks away!
She has no power, but thankfully the worst of the hurricaine winds are well West of them.
Ave said to tell her DIS friends she is OK and thanks for the prayers!!!They WORKED!

I've taken the day off today and will be playing "tour guide" for our German friends.

Mary be sure to tell Ave that all of us are still keeping our fingers crossed for her. Feed the Germans some gravy and biscuits with breakfast. For lunch, fried chicken or catfish with hush puppies and a big slice of pecan pie for dessert. Fatten them up and get rid of all that exercise nonsense that it programmed in their little head bones.

Congratulations on the documents Cathy and all of the rest of our friends that have received them. Here is hoping that all receive their documents soon and everyone stays warm and dry. Mike

Mike -- Love your post about Eric and Anja the delicious and fattening southern food and the programmed exercise nonsense. Made me feel better that I don't run 10 miles a day or whatever. I get depressed every time I hear about how fit they and how unfit Sam and I are.

So glad to hear that Ave' and family are OK.

Ave: So glad you're OK. We kept hearing reports from PCB and were very concerned. They showed footage of the tornado ripping off the roof of the restaurant and I wondered how close it was to you.

Sharon: Would love to meet you at midnight, but I have a feeling this old body is going to be in dreamland at that hour! We'd like to catch one of the first DCL buses so we plan to be back at the airport fairly early. Guess we'll have to meet up at the terminal.

Say hello to Hurricane Jeanne.

This one is moving very slowly and the newscasts are saying it'll probably go up the Atlantic Seaboard somewhere... it's not expected to come to ground within the next six days, but it's expected to go right through the Bahamas.

As we're getting down to the short time I'd like to put in a Good Word to whomever is in charge of the weather and let them know that I've had enough of these Hurricane thingies.

Email is down again today (and it was down most of yesterday also) so no emails either coming in or going out! Bette...your email is still sitting in my outbox and I can't get it to send!! We are having problems with all of the hospital's emails not just mine!

Bette...Embassy Grand Beach has a 24 hour check in desk so you can arrive at 4:00 a.m. and you will still get checked in!!

Does anyone have info on the glass bottom boat at CC? We never got an excursion booklet and Sarah might be interested in going since she heard that Kim is doing it. What is the age requirements?

My boss claims that there is another tropical storm brewing after Hurricane Jeanne...will this never end??

Just back from playing tour guide for our German friends. We toured the South Carolina Aquarium, then took a horse drawn carriage tour. Later we will meet for dinner then do the "Ghost Tour".
I called Ave (aka Dorothy) and she reports her area was pretty badly hit. Several houses are very badly damaged. After touring the area they now feel even more lucky they were not killed!Their only damage was a large tree which was knocked over, but may be able to be saved. They are still without power but, since the power outages were in such a limited area, they expect power to be back on pretty quickly. She will post on the boards as soon as she can.

WE GOT OUR DOCS!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Meeting poolside at the Radisson sounds like a nice idea to me! Ave had e-mailed the park people about condition of the area, but never got a reply. I'm still game for the park, but would feel better about it if we knew what condition it was in.

Yup. For sure that's called Tropical Depression Twelve, but it's way, way, way out in the middle of the Atlantic, and right now they are tracking it to stay out there.... sort of straight up to Iceland.

We're going to the ball game tonight. We have four more to go before we leave and we won't be around for the last home stand with the Yankees. At this point in the year I don't know what is a more useless and time consuming passtime: watching hurricanes or watching the Jay's play.

We'll be doing a lot of packing and yelling this weekend. I got my unshrunk pants from the tailor yesterday so at least I'm fireproof on that score. I just can't find The Tie. Personally, I think it's lost forever, and I won't have to wear one. Shame really. Oh well.

Ok, I'm officially going to lose it, belive it or not my docs that arrived at my TA last week are still not in my hot little hands. I'm doing my best to be patient, but if I don't get them tomorrow I may have to storm Fort Monmouth. Okay, enough venting.

The new docs came today and guess what? No more mystery guests. The kids were happy to actually see there names on them this time. Something happened in DCL's computer because they had the same mystery guests on our record from the 2002 cruises we took.

Tammy at DU ROCKS. After several frantic e-mails from me this week we have replacement docs in four days.

I also booked REAS and got the times we wanted for spa/palo.

Booked our hotel for friday night at the Best Western Airport and transportation for Saturday morning. Oh yeah and I booked all our excursions as well. I can now sit back and relax until the 1st.

I hope all of you in the South are not in harms way. I had the weather channel on for most of the day and couldn't believe some of the pictures.

So glad to hear that Ave is fine. That must have been scary though having a tornado that close. I've been through a hurricane but not a tornado.

Yup Jays lost yet again.

There will be no yelling this weekend (although next weekend there is a possibility of it if the tie doesn't get found). :p

Hopefully the hurricanes will all go away now. Saw pictures last night on the news of the bridge/roadway collapse on interstate 10? It's amazing what damage can be done by wind and water.

It's Friday!!! and only one more to go before we leave! We are going to the game again tonight (obviously glutens for punishment)! We had gift certificates from last year though and have upgraded our tickets for the last three games -- padded seats!

Take care everyone -- esp Ave. Do hope the power comes on soon.

On a lighter note....2 weeks from today we will be on our way to PC:bounce:

Fiona...sorry the Jays lost:( It was just anounced that the NY Yankees minor leage team will be coming to Charleston. We have had the "Riverdogs" (minor team for the Tampa Devil Rays) for the past 10 years.

Um-Sharon? You do know there could be BIG trouble if you storm Fort Monmouth, right? :teeth:

My mother works there. Is there anything, maybe, she could do to help you along?

Avé--glad you survived relatively unscathed. Prayers & pixie dust to the rest of PCB. The news showed it--it looks awful on TV. Can't imagine how it must be in person.

TS Karl? Bring him on! We can take him!

We are getting so excited--this is going to be the LONNNGGGESSSTTT two weeks!

No updates on the marital front. Tom is still angry, nasty, crazy actually! He misunderstands EVERY single word I say, turns it around to suit him, tries to get me angry, etc. Anyone else familiar with this behavior? From what I'm reading, sounds like he's mid-lifing. And also, from what I'm reading, there's absolutely NOTHING I can do about it.

BTW, anyone willing to make plans with me for our day at sea on the 7th? That's our anniversary, and I'm dreading being without him (yes, even through all of this--I wish we were together).

Well, enough boo-hoo-ing. Back to getting excited about this cruise. I have so much to do. I have to make sure the dogs are taken care of, have to find a ride to the airport, have to stop the mail, etc.

I did find a formal dress for Heidi. Believe it or not, at a resale shop for $5. I just have to tack the straps--otherwise it looks GREAT on her! With a nice pair of sandals, or black hose, she's going to look fabulous!

Still haven't decided what I'm wearing. I'm not getting anything new, but I do have 3 or 4 outfits to choose from. I'm thinking I agree with those who are choosing comfortable over flashy. We'll see.

All those with weather problems, hang in there.

Marianne...got your pm but I can't email you back but I will pm you my email address and phone # in the hope that we might get email back today.

Cloudy and rainy today and supposed to be the same tomorrow.

Kim..haven't had a chance to check anything out on car situation so maybe I can do it while the boss is at lunch. We had a major plumbing problem here at work since 2 weeks ago and he actually had to go over the other day and get on his hands and knees and get dirty. So it has not been a pleasant experience having him back from vacation. But guess what...after I get back from the cruise, he is on vacation for a week. Boy, did I time this cruise right!!

Just cancelled the eastbound repo for next year! Hard phone call to make. Just can't justify having two huge DCL vacations two years in a row (I always have to remember we work for the county...we like to think we can live like rock stars sometimes!)

I was checking out all inclusives to Mexico...with airfare we can go for just under $2000, and get lots of dives in.....see, I am already planning next years vacation and we haven't even done this years yet!!

Lastly, I hope all are doing well in the areas that Ivan has turned upside down. I finally have fully caught up with the news and it puts our little "where will we cruise to?" dramas in perspective. My aunt and uncle who live in NY, but snowbird to Florida have hooked up with Catholic Charities to let a family whose house we destroyed by Charley live in their Florida home in Englewood until November. Just a reminder there is lots we can do from far away. Denver Dumb Friends League (a pet shelter) has already gotten unclaimed pets from the storms back east. I would love to take in one, but as I type this Macy the cat is laying across the keyboard and Copper and Orion are barking like maniacs in the back yard at our neighbors cats (surpised the coyotes haven't gotten them yet!) We live in a zoo!

So glad that Ave and family are safe and sound. I also saw pictures from the area and so much destruction. I have been through a tornado and they are so scarey. For years my oldest son ran to the basement when ever we had thunderstorms carrying a bookbag of his favorite things. When we moved into our current house, he took the bedroom on the lower lever because he felt safe there.

Went last night to the Great York Fair the longest continous fair in the US. It is one of the largest fairs and gets big name entertainment. Saw Clay Aiken last night along with 10,000 other screaming fans. He gave a wonderful show and what a great voice. He sounds even better live than on his CD and TV shows. So I am on a Clay high today. It's going to be a "Perfect Day". That one of his songs from his CD. Will have to watch Miss America on Sat as he is singing on that show.

In 2 weeks will probably still be packing and running around like crazy before leaving for BWI.

Have a great weekend everyone.

When I started this job many years ago, there were 8 of us -since then we have added more territory and are now down to 3 in the office ... except for this next month when my co-worker is off on vacation to WDW and when she comes back, a day later I leave. Needless to say I'm going http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/smly13.gifwith work. Just had 4 people walk in without appointments - the boss took one and I had the others at the same time the 4 phone lines decided to ring off the hook. CAN WE SAY UGH!
(OK I feel better now - still crazy, but better!)

Seems the German branch of our tree is having a wonderful time with our SC tree branch!

Ave .. stay safe and I hope you had a good supply of batteries.

Had our SantaFe to the dealer for it's first check-up yesterday .. now I think I'm going to start packing and putting the suitcases in it as I get them done. I'll leave our formal and dressy stuff hung up till the last minute but there is a lot that can get packed now. I use my older car to get to work every day so it'll work out.

Right about now I'm wondering if we may get to go to some really new ports with all the storms in the Atlantic ... Hey maybe we can ask the Captain to try a run at the Panama Canal ;)

Well enough of this stress relief ... have a mound of work to do.

Marianne: Hang in there, kiddo......I have some friends going through the same process and it gets so ugly and painful. I really feel for you, but you must tell yourself that you will survive and will all the stronger for it. And of course you can hang with us! I'm sure there will be lots of us engaged in all sorts of different activities and no one is gonna leave you all alone. I'm positive a week with this group will do wonders for you and the kids.

Nancy: I'm so glad you enjoyed the Clay concert. My girlfriend got us tickets on the internet for his concert here in Raleigh on Oct18th (19th?). They were only $15 and sold out in about 7 minutes! I've also never been to the state fair, which is where he's performing, so my 3 girlfriends and I are looking forward to eating carnival "junk" like fried twinkies and the like! And if you ever come to Raleigh I will show you where Clay lives (not very far from me) but I will NOT post his address on the internet, so you'll have to visit me! Did Norm go with you, or was it a chick thing? John would probably do it, but wouldn't be too happy about it!

And just in case anyone is wondering, it's a beautiful sunny day here in this part of NC......although I would think that jeanniec might be feeling some effects right now. The trees outside my window are blowing quite a bit, so we could get something soon.

Can't believe we will be on our way to Florida two weeks from today. And I was going to be so organized and packed well ahead of time. Looks like it's going to be the same crazy last minute rush. But I still have 2 weekends to get organized -- need to stop being so lazy or busy with other things. Clothes aren't so much a problem as are "other miscellaneous items" that go in the tote bags.

Jeanneg -- We must have been posting at the same time. Just read yours which is right above mine. Crazy weather here. I thought I was driving thru a lake on my way to work this morning -- heavy rain, wild wind, could hardly see anything in front of me. Ten minutes later, there was no wind and blue skies with white clouds. Really weird. It's been doing the same thing all day so far. Torrential storms and wind and then blue skies with no wind. That's due to the concentric bands of storms that are fanning out from Ivan and which I have been seeing on the Weather Channel. Feel sorry for the flooded areas in the mountains altho I could never quite understand how the mountains will flood more than the lowlands. Never did like geography altho I taught it for a while in one of my many lives and careers. South American geography and the kids (grades 7 & 8) went crazy when I mentioned Lake Titicaca, the world's highest lake (in Peru, I think). Had to discuss it because there was a big picture in the geography book.

Hey, I have a question for anyone who's sailed more recently. I sailed 9/7/02--two years ago. Back then, we had to buy mugs to get unlimited soft drinks between meals.

Is it still that way, or have they wised up & made wristbands available?

I remember worrying about putting the mug down. Anyone could have picked it up & taken it--and we had no recourse.

Marianne

Good news, Marianne, soft drinks are now free at the Deck 9 beverage station. Of course you can still always get them at any table service restaurant. They will, however, charge you if you order a soft drink from room service or one of the many bars/lounges. My girls didn't realize this and ran up a tab at Outlook on deck 10 while sunbathing! Had they realized there was a charge, they would have just gone down to the beverage station on 9.

could also do the kayak paddle tour

Personally, I wouldn't put a three-year old anywhere near a kayak, especially if it's on the water, but that's just my opinion. If you've had a lot of experience with kayaks you might consider it... if you haven't had experience with them, I found them difficult to control and the paddling aspect of it requires a lot of upper body and arm strength. You're almost sitting in the water whereas in a canoe you're much further above it and you can use all of your body to paddle.

Tour Lunch: Take a couple of large Baggies in your luggage. Order from room service early in the day and put the sandwiches in the Baggies.

Jeanne-- How lucky that you get to see Clay in his hometown. I'm sure there will be alot of screaming that night. That may be his final show of the tour. Sent you a pm.

I am taking my old Wonder mugs with me to use at the beverage bar. I have taken them each cruise and used them to fill up with lemonade and ice tea. I'm not a big Coke fan and all that sodium just helps to contribute to my swollen ankles. However, will have diet Pepsi if I can find it on the islands. Whenever we cruise, I always end up with huge swollen ankles by the end of the cruise. I think some of it is related to the filtration of the salt water that there still must be some sodium left and then add the heat and swollen ankles by day 2 or 3. One year on the second formal night I couldn't even fit into my black shoes my feet were so swollen. Could be my age also? But will blame it on the salt.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Nancy, I have heard that when they desalinate the water it takes the salt out, but not the sodium and there is a lot of sodium in the water. Don't know how true this is, but I do know that a couple days after I get back home, I drop a few pounds right away (good thing, because I'm always up right after the cruise).

I'm pretty sure we'll be docking right there. That's what they did in August. There were other ships that had to have their passengers tendered in, but they were much larger than the Magic. In fact we were commenting how very small our ship looked in comparision.

Just called DCL. Rep said "tendering" was not noted on Oct. 6th. She said we should be docking!

That's cool!

Good to hear from you Eric and Anja. Every time that we have gone to St. Thomas we have docked at the havensight dock which has the little mini mall located there on the docks.

I have been making halloween tote bags for the other kids in Katie's preschool class. Just had to make six of them, but they are taking about an hour a piece. Hope that they enjoy them. The sun came out for a few minutes here in Nashville today.

Mary if the ship get diverted to Charleston hope that you feel up to playing tour guide. Just be sure to have your tip jar sitting on the dash. Mike
