View Full Version : When I EVENTUALLY make it back...

When I EVENTUALLY make it back to Universal...I would love to meet you for a drink....Question: What is your "drink" that people most associate with you? and where do you prefer to relax for a "drink" in the evening? :D
My drink during the day is usually "Sprite" unless it's a "pool" day, then it would be a cocktail - a fruity combination!! Having said that I have been known to down "pints" when very thirsty!!....
By night my drink would probably be a bacardi breezer or a cocktail again....a brandy and cream combination!! :D
Where to meet: well I love the Hard Rock Cafe - but am open to suggestions of other good meeting places!!:D

I like wine during dinner and a good sour apple martini when having a cocktail! Jakes at RPR is a nice place for drinks and so is Margaritaville at City Walk! If at the later its gotta be one of their great margarita's.::yes::

Yes, I like M's.....but not too keen on the M cocktail. It's funny...I've been on here for quite a while .....all alone......now I've got to go for a while and ....leave YOU all alone...hopefully someone else will come and keep you company....

I had an awesome drink at the HRH pool. It was fruity and STRONG! I just told hubby to get me a fruity drink and that is what the bartender made, so I don't even know the name of it :(

Hi Tigerlilly's Mom, I remember the cocktail...It's was some sort of Hard rock speciality I think, pink and full of fruit, and yes - quite potent! I often used to have one when by the pool................Memories..........Mmmmmmm
TigerLilly's Mom
10-04-2003, 03:41 PM
Selina - at least I will know what to ask for - the HRH specialty!!! At first, it was shockingly strong, but after the second, I was like "Honey willll you get me anoooother one of thoooose" LOL
IMGONNABE40!

The drink I enjoyed at the HRH Beach Club was called Sweet Home Alabama (all of their specialty drinks are named after classic rock and roll songs). It was fruity and STRONG. It contained vodka, Southern Comfort and fruit juices. Does that sound familiar? Did you know you can order them double? We had a cabana at the HRH in August and my mom ordered me a double. (hey--it was my 40th b-day after all!) Whew!
I wonder if someone (JessicaR you usually amaze me with your wealth of resources) can come up with a drink menu for the Beach Club. Then maybe you guys can look at the menu and see if you recognize the drinks you loved so well.
I'd love to kick back and have a drink with a fellow diser when I return to HRH in December, although I must say, when I was there in December '01, we were drinking HOT CHOCOLATE at the Beach Club!

Tigerlilly's Mon.........I know.....I had quite a few and then went on my fave ride (MIB)...I was shooting everyone.....including people in the car behind Us!!!!:p
IMGONNABE40...not sure if it was that....Vodka and Southern Comfort.....I know it was pink and contained alot of fruit.........I remember asking for "large" ones too :p ........that's a good idea too.........!
Hellooooooo JessicaR...can you hear us.....????:listen:
TigerLilly's Mom

I don't think my drink had Southern Comfort in it. The only reason I say that is because, I had a VERY BAD expierence with Southern Comfort in college and haven't touched it since, as a matter of fact, I am getting nauseous just thinking about it. Yes, let's have everyone who goes down from now on - find out what kind of drinks they have there by the pool. I do remember (after Selina mentioned it) that DH did say that the Bartender made me the specialty - so let's find out what the name is!!! When I go down next month, I will be checking out the drinks at Jake's and I will be sure to get the names this time!!!
By the way - DH went over to get the drinks, while I stayed and watched the kids in my lounge. The bartender didn't want to give him two drinks, so he had to take the bartender out a bit and point me out!!! LOL He's like " See that woman in the black bikini - it's for her, really!!" Just thought you would all like to know, you are not supposed to get two drinks at a time.

Okay I looked but it seems I could find drink menus for everywhere BUT the Beach Club at Hard Rock...these will have to do! The next person that goes will have to grab a drink menu for us all to drool over!
TigerLilly's Mom, I had the same BAD experience with Southern Comfort you did...brings back very bad memories and if I get a whiff....ICK!

Just had to jump in here with my favorite drink ever, even though it wasn't at Universal. We went on a cruise this spring, and I am terribly prone to sea sickness, so I wore the "patch." The only problem with the patch is that it gives you a dry mouth, so beer, champagne, and white wine can be difficult to swallow. I told one of the bartenders my dilemma, and he made me this for me:
1/2 oz Light Rum
1/2 oz Dark Rum
1 oz Kahlua
1 oz Dark Creme de Cacao
1 oz Bailey's Irish Cream
1/2 1 oz Amaretto
Ice
It's called a Bushwhacker, and it's so soothing! From that night on, I was known as Ms. Bushwhacker on the ship, and no matter where I went, as soon as I entered the room I had a Bushwhacker waiting for me. Be careful, these can definitely trip you up because it tastes like a light chocolate milk. But, when we go on our next cruise in January, I'm taking the recipe with me!
P.S. Tiger Lilly, not only are your kids adorable, but I'm wicked jeaous you can still wear a bikini after having 2 kids. I don't have any kids, and haven't been able to wear a bikini since I was 13.

Tigerlilly's Mom...isn't that strange.....I had a bad one on "Southern Comfort"...errgggh put me right off!!:faint:
JessicaR..thanks for that long list.....:D I remember the Deep Purple, Hotel California ones. Very similar sounding..but I agree with TM it was something the bar tender made saying, "try this!!"
Alexandnessa....that's my favourite drink!!! That's the one I'm always trying to get the bartenders to make but I didn't know all the ingredients. First time I had it was at "The Two Paddle Pub" in Oahu!!:D
So it looks like I'll meet you all for a cocktail.......;)
the Dark Marauder
10-05-2003, 06:10 AM
My favorite drink would be a Coke and Grenadine.
:jester: :duck:
Selina
10-05-2003, 06:20 AM
DM........from now on anyone fancying one of those just has to ask for a "Dark Marauder"!! It's the perfect name for it.....so where is the best place to meet for a "Dark Marauder" and a "Buschwacker"??:p
the Dark Marauder
10-05-2003, 06:23 AM
You do know that Coke & Grenadine is Cherry Coke, right?
 I dont do alcoholic stuff.
Selina
10-05-2003, 06:30 AM
No....I didn't know that.....I always associate Grenadine with "Harvey Wallbangers"...any ex DT lurking around will know what I am remembering!!
Still...it's sounds like a "dark coloured drink".....is it? and if you want non-alcoholic - that's fine - fly fly will be the same! :D

Jessica - what a great list!!! I loved the list from Tchoup Chop as we are eating there - I wonder what I will order?? I wish the Jimmy Buffet menu gave more ingredients - When we were there in July, I just ordered beer because I didn't know what was in the drinks - Plus I don't drink margaritas.
Jodie - just because because I still wear a bikini, doesn't mean I should!! No, seriously, once you get over that 30 year mark - it gets kinda hard to maintain!!! And thanks for the compliments on my kiddos - I wish I could get some Universal pictures of them here, but they are uploaded at a site that won't let me use them here - I have some great ones of them with Spidey, and Sam I am!!
It sounds like everyone may have had a bad expierence with Southern Comfort - gross!!
I discovered my favorite drink this summer - It can be called a Malibu Baybreeze - but most bartenders won't know what you are talking about. It has Malibu rum, cranberry juice, pineapple juice and something else that escapes me right now.
Selina
10-05-2003, 09:40 AM
Hi Tigerlilly's Mom - that Malibu Baybreeze sounds a really nice one....::yes::
JessicaR........:wave2: ....It's Sunday afternoon...just had a big lamb roast for dinner and now I'm experimenting with what I've got in the drinks cabinet...your list is just wonderful.......Selina maybe a bit tipsy on the boards tonight!!:p ;) :rotfl:

NO!!! Selina - get tipsy??? I just can't believe it!!!! HA!
JessicaR
10-05-2003, 10:23 AM
AlexandNessa, that Bushwhacker sounds yummy! I have to try that!
TigerLilly's Mom, That drink you mentioned is really popular here during the summer months! Its the same ingredients you listed and they call it a Malibu Breeze. Very tasty!
Needed to add one to this list as a heavy favorite in these parts...A Long Island Iced Tea. If made right you would not believe there is alcohol in it and man does it have LOTS!
Ingredients:
1 part Vodka
1 part Tequila
1 part Rum
1 part Gin
1 part Triple sec
1 1/2 part Sour mix
1 splash Coca-Cola
Thought Selina needed a few more for her mixology lessons today! ;) That roast sounded yummy!

JessicaR--Thanks for the drink list. I can also personally vouch for the kick tail powers of the Mai Tai at Tchoup Chop!
Is it me, or do the drinks at the park venues seem watered down as compared to the concoctions you get at the hotels? I had a drink at Mythos which was a raspberry lemonade featuring a top shelf citrus vodka and Chambord. Sounded promising, but absolutley no punch at all. I had a similar experience with a drink I ordered at the Backwater Bar.
Wish I were across the sea tipping a few with Selina! Perhaps our meeting spot should be the Hard Rock Cafe in London! I have always wanted to visit the original.
PS for JessicaR--Thanks for the recipe for the back home fav. You cannot tell from my bio, but I'm an Island girl myself--spent my formative years in Bethpage.
Selina
10-05-2003, 03:32 PM
JessicaR.......got everything but the triple sexc and sour mix..........mixed it together....Wow!! eyes wateruing...it's quite strong or is that just the way I have made it :p
IMGONNABE40...love to meet at the Hard Rock Cafe..great idea.....the inside very similar and they serve pizza's and pastas, etc etc it's quite a few years since I have been now...used to go when I worked at the DT in London.....
Both of you come and join us on RPG thread...!!!;)
JessicaR
10-05-2003, 03:43 PM
OMG Selina!!! Without the sour mix it would be awful:scared: Thats the main ingredient! Dump it quick, or you may :faint:
When you get some triple sec and sour mix here are the mixing directions:
Mix ingredients together over ice in a glass. Pour into shaker and give ONE brisk shake. Pour back into glass and make sure there is a touch of fizz at the top. Garnish with lemon.
IMGONNABE40! I cant wait to get back to Tchoup Chop for another!::yes::
Ahhh another LI'er! I take the kids to the Old Bethpage Village Restoration often. I'm east...out near Smithtown.
Selina
10-05-2003, 03:56 PM
Phew..I thought it was a bit strong!!! I've tipped it into a pint glass and added lots of coke - and some apples and grapes, and green pepper......it's an amazing flavour now!!:rotfl:

My favorite is Kailua & Cream. ::yes:: Pretty sure it has some type of Rum as well. Although I had a White Russian, and the taste was similar, but stronger. Not sure, since I'm not really a drinker, but occasionally will get a glass. Or if hubby and I are out together I'll get my White Zinfandel. :hyper: Problem is I never know what to order, when I do want something. So I feel like a child because I'm clueless, that I feel foolish. LOL So I usually order the same thing over and over. Don't like anything with coconut flavor(Pina Colada) in my drinks, nor anything too dry.

Some of my friends like this shot called "Chocolate Cake" I have no idea what's in it, but you have to suck on a lemon before you take the shot, I believe. After you get the lemon juice, you take the shot, and then it tastes lick chocolate cake. Or is it shot first, then lemon?
JessicaR
10-05-2003, 10:23 PM
Never heard of that DM, but it sounded interesting so I looked it up!
Chocolate Cake Shot
1 ounce Frangelico
1 splash Vanilla Vodka
Pour an ounce of Frangelico into a shot glass and top with a splash of vanilla vodka. Smother a lemon wedge with sugar. When drinking, first bite the lemon wedge and then shoot the drink.
Will have to try that, thanks!:teeth:
Selina
10-06-2003, 09:01 AM
JessicaR......Looking forward to trying out that one!!:D
Never heard of Vanilla vodka....sounds really nice.
and what's Frangelico?
IMGONNABE40!
10-06-2003, 10:46 AM
Frangelico is a hazelnut flavored liquer from Italy.
I enjoy making a drink called the Nutty Irishman. Its made with Frangelico, Bailey's Irish Cream and some whipped cream or half and half. Sometimes I put vodka in it as well. I think I put equal parts of each item in, but usually put in "a little bit of this and a little bit of that" until it tastes just right. Once I made it in the blender with vanilla ice cream instead of the whipped cream and that was good too.
Hey--maybe we should have a virtual happy hour one of these weekends!
(By the way, I don't notice any chocolate in that chocolate cake shot! That reminds me of a chocolate martini that my sister in law makes. She uses a top shelf vodka and a chocolate liquer like Godiva or something. Pretty tasty.)

Selina--It doesn't sound like there was anything VIRTUAL about your solo happy hour! I think it was the real deal! I'm glad the green pepper didn't make you sick!
Sorry, I will be on a road trip to New York City to visit family on Sunday. Although I am sure I will need a happy hour on Sunday evening (10/12) after spending the day with my mother in law, I will not be able to get my hands on a computer to join you all. Hopefully I will be able to get my hands on some alcohol. My father in law is usually pretty good about pouring me a pretty healthy tumbler of vodka. I guess its all those years of experience with DMIL!
If the virtual happy hour goes off for 10/12, I will look forward to reading all about it upon my return--especially the later postings!

Perhaps JessicaR can draw up a simple "menu" for the "happy hour".......e.g. starters, main course, dessert.....I think I'd like to try the Nutty Irishman for that!! JessicaR??? :listen: :D

Also thanks for info on the apple vodkas and vanilla vodkas.....I'm going to "drink" store "Oddbins" at the weekend to see if they stock it! If not I'll just have to put plain vodka with an apple juice.....Mmmmmmmm looking forward to the menu now.

125 gr Yoghurt
2 dl Pineapple juice
Mixing instructions:
Put all ingredients in a blender and blend for 3 minutes. If the mix isn't liquid
enough (depends on the banana), add another shot of pineapple juice. Decorate
with a piece of the banana and a piece of a pineapple.
Black Cow
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ingredients:
2 scoops vanilla Ice-cream
10 oz Root beer
1 tblsp Chocolate syrup
Whipped cream
Maraschino cherry
Mixing instructions:
Pour root beer over ice cream and chocolate syrup in a large tumbler glass.
Garnish with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. Serve with a straw and a
long spoon.
Pina Colada Punch
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ingredients:
46 oz Pineapple juice
15 oz Coconut cream
1 tblsp Coconut syrup / flavoring
1 tblsp Cinnamon
1.5-2 L Pineapple soda
1 pint vanilla Ice-cream
Mixing instructions:
Chill pineapple juice and soda. Blend first four ingredients in a blender until
creamy. (I've found a hand blender works very well since my blender won't hold all
of this liquid or you could split it into two batches.) This can be done ahead of time
and put back into the fridge until serving time. When your ready to serve, place
coconut mixture in punch bowl, add ice-cream and allow it to dissolve somewhat.
When ice-cream has dissolved almost completely, add pineapple soda. Add ice
ring and decorate the frothy top of the punch with thin orange slices.

Nutty Irishman.

Its made with Frangelico, Bailey's Irish Cream and some whipped cream or half
and half. Sometimes I put vodka in it as well. I think I put equal parts of each item
in, but usually put in "a little bit of this and a little bit of that" until it tastes just right.
Once I made it in the blender with vanilla ice cream instead of the whipped cream
and that was good too.

Some will put a sugared piece of lemon on the side, some will sugar rim your

sugared lemon wedge on the side. The idea is to shoot the drink and then suck

Sangria - The World's Best
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ingredients:
1.5 L Red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon)
1 cup Sugar
3-4 oz plain Brandy
1 large Lemon, sliced
1 large Orange, sliced
1 large Apple, cut into thin sections.
Mixing instructions:
Mix these altogether in a large container, stir, and let sit for 18-24 hours. Yes, I
know that's a LONG time, but it's well worth the wait. A much more delightful
sangria is produced when the fruit juice blends with the wine by osmmosis than by
stirring. (By the way, you should let it sit in the refridgerator during this long
interim). When you are ready to drink it 18-24 hours later, stir it up again, and add
sugar or brandy to taste, it should be fairly strong and fairly sweet, almost syrupy.
Then, cut the mixture with some sort of bubbly water, orange or lemon flavored if
possibly, but plain bubbly water is fine, until it seems to have a thinner, more wine
like consistency. Drink and enjoy.

Wow Jessica!!! That is a great list. I will join in too - got to get to the liquor store. What time are we starting? I'll be on between 1 -4 because DH will be watching the Patriots with his brother - so I will be BORED!
By the way - does anyone know what is in a Mai Tai? I had one last night at our local Hawiian restuarant and just about passed out!! Can't say that I loved it, but it was STRONG!!!
I think I'll do a baybreeze and copy one of the non alcoholic drinks for the kids and we can all have happy hour!!
Selina
10-11-2003, 12:02 PM
Hi everyone.....that's a nice idea....join the kids in....I've already been this afternoon (to the drink store! :p)...do you know it's quite a while since I bought any drink apart from wine or sherry....I'm really amazed at all the choice! It cost me an "arm and a leg"!!! But I'm stocked for Christmas and New Year too - my sister is having a party this year - so I can take along what's left and be in charge of "cocktails"!!! :D :
JessicaR
10-11-2003, 12:11 PM
Glad you all liked!
TigerL's Mom, If a Mai Tai is made right it doesnt taste strong, thats the scary part...they sneak up on ya! :) Here is a recipe.
The idea of having the kids join is great! My kids are all for it and want Creamsicles!
Mai Tai
1 oz. light rum
½ oz. triple sec
2 oz. pineapple juice
1 oz. dark rum
1 tsp. grenadine
Pour the first four ingredients into a glass with ice, stir. Add grenadine, a cherry, and one of those goofy paper umbrellas!
Selina,
 We are all heading by you for the holidays! If you are gonna be in charge of making drinks it should be a short evening....LOL!!!
DM, let me know about your drink...is it equal parts? The kids wanna make that too!

I don't know if I can switch drinks with you all - I may have to stick to just one!!!:faint:
Selina
10-11-2003, 04:38 PM
I have been studying the menu - it's all very delicious!!
I thought as Jessica provided such a superb drinks menu, I should contribute something - so here are a few delights for anyone who is like me and has a permanent sweet tooth:-
You make all the all in the usual way just add in the extra ingredients:-
Grandmother's Ginger-Jam Bread&Butter Pudding
Ingredients: butter, sultanas, dark rum, brown bread,
ginger conserve, eggs, caster sugar, double cream, full fat milk,
ground ginger, demerara sugar.
Chocolate Cloud Cake
dark chocolate, butter, eggs, caster sugar, Cointreau,
orange zest, double cream, vanilla essence, cocoa powder.
Turkish Delight Syllabub
Cointreau, lemon juice, caster sugar, double cream, rosewater,
orange flower water, pistachio nuts.
Now what am I going to have to start:-
I think it may be a Creamsicle with a Colorado Bulldog on the side!!! :D
.I'm off to the land of nod now.....
Tonia said she would be on from 1pm-4pm your time....so shall we say we'll use that as a starting point for the Happy Hour!

Would you come and cook for me too!
Isn't DM's drink called a Roy Rogers? I think my son has had them before with this name. Sort of like a Shirley Temple for a girl - which would be Gingerale and grenadine.

Hi Tigerlilly's Mom......I would love to cook for you....! It was rather delicious today, even if I say so myself...:D Mind you almost had a fire...I accidentally left the oven on with a greasy tin inside from the Steaks - remembered and took this tin out. It was soooo hot it was making loud popping noises!
Well I've tried the Dark Marauder and it is very refreshing. I added more grenadine.....DM: you've just introduced me to a new drink - love it!!:D
Well it's just under 2 hours to go before we can really get started. I'm looking forward to a creamsicle with a Colorado Bulldog chaser! both my kids are creamsicles!! Mmmmmmmm
P.s. I don't know if it's called a Roy Rogers - does anyone else?

Hey Selina - crazy morning - I still have to go grocery shopping! But, it won't take too long - I have to find a drink for the kiddies.
I am just plain today - cargos and long sleeve tee and my red Nikes - I may throw on a baseball cap before the grocery store.
DH and I stayed up until 2:00am so we got up late then had to help DS with school project - Ahhhhh!!!
I will be back soon!

Folks! It's 7.15pm in England - so have to go for a while to bath kids, but will be back later..........post in what you are tippling while I'm away, make yourself comfortable in my lounge......lots of cushions spread around, scented candles and the dulcit tones of Dido at the moment. Spread yourself out and relax....relaxing is the most important part, unwind from the busy day, and when I come back in about an hour, I'll start you off on relaxing techniques which you can do with your partner.....Mmmmmmmmm ...... some you can do on your own....in the meantime.....try a few on Jessica's menu and get yourself comfortable...........;)

JessicaR- Was your bushwhacker frozen or on ice? I love frozen Bushwhackers from the FloraBama.
Selina
10-12-2003, 01:37 PM
Hi essmom....Looks like it's ice:-
I'm posting AlexandNess's post:-
Just had to jump in here with my favorite drink ever, even though it wasn't at Universal.

Hello friends!
essmom, all ingredients were mixed together in a blender with ice. I loved it!
Mixing drinks is a little difficult for me right now (especially since my computer is upstairs, and of course my kitchen is down). I explained virtual HH to my BF, so he set me up with a bottle of wine, a cutter, an opener, a glass, and some pizza bites next to my computer before he left me to my devices! (I love him :lovestruc).
I am wanting to hear what everyone else is drinking and enjoying though.

I know! Go figure  ;)
I'm here! Sitting with my Diet Pepsi!! :p :p
TigerLilly's Mom
10-12-2003, 02:09 PM
AlexandNessa - your BF is a sweetheart!!! What a great guy.
I am sticking with the BayBreeze - I will give measurements if anyone needs them - 4 oz. cranberry juice, 4 oz. pinapple juice, and 3 oz. Malibu rum. blend, poor over ice and top with a lime wedge! It is goooooood!
I am going to make the cow drink for my kids, but I will have to wait until after dinner since it has two scoops of ice cream in it!!
After the Patriots game, hubby is going out to get mussles (sp) for dinner - YUM!!!
I don't even want to guess how the Patriots are doing - I just keep hearing periodic yells an screams from downstairs, so it can't be too bad.... LOL
AlexandNessa
10-12-2003, 02:12 PM
I'm with you. I never watch football unless it's the commercials during the SuperBowl (does that even count?).
You must be getting excited for your trip. Less than a month away!
TigerLilly's Mom
10-12-2003, 02:17 PM
I am!! I just noticed my countdown clock and just can't wait.
You must be getting excited about your boot. DH broke his achilles last year and he was miserable when they took the cast off and put the boot on. We finally figured out that they didn't give him enough pads on his heel, so the pain was just excruciating. Once he had the extra pads he was good to go!
So who is at happy hour - Flyfly, AlexandNessa, Selina, is that it? And where is Jessica??? She should definately be here!
Flyfly_Eclipse
10-12-2003, 02:20 PM
LOL...I'm watching the Bucs football game in between reading posts...guess I'm the only one that loves watching football (and my mom says I don't look like a football-watching type...:p)!! I even watch my high school football games. Go when friends invite me to go with them? No way! They won't let me watch the game...they just want to talk and hang out! I go with my DAD!!! :p :p
Anyway, I really hope to meet you TigerLilly's Mom :) :)
And alexandNessa - you make sure to keep us up to date with your foot!!!
TigerLilly's Mom
10-12-2003, 02:28 PM
Hi Flyfly - we will definately meet. You are staying at the RPR right? We will set up a time before one of the Ghostbuster shows, but I bet we will cross paths anyway.
My kids are watching Treasure Planet and hubby is watching football, so of course I am here at the computer!!
FlyFly - so you have tomorrow off from school? My kids had Friday off and they have Monday off. I may go crazy with them in the house for four solid days - Ahhhhh~!!@!!
Flyfly_Eclipse
10-12-2003, 02:30 PM
Nope. Have school tomorrow :( Wish I didn't. I have Friday off (just like almost every other school in Florida!!! lol Ahhhh!!)
Anyway, I'm only staying at RPH one night, which will be the night of November 10. The two previous nights will be offsite, but you know where I'll be from 11:45 - 5:15...LOL :) We can always say one of those days we'll meet at a certain show, so if one day doesn't work, then there's another or something. Or, what Spidey and I did is, we picked the day and had two different shows we could try to meet up, so in case one show didn't work out, we had a backup.
Selina
10-12-2003, 02:43 PM
I'm back again!!! Sorry I have to go shooting off a bit quite a lot to do....but will keep in touch till the early hours (if I can stay up that long!!;) )
Hi Everyone!!!.....It's just past 8.30 pm over here in England - settling down a bit now....well I had the Dark Maruader as you know during cooking, then a bit earlier than "kick-off" I tried the creamsicle and had a Colorado Bulldog - delicious. I've now moved onto Gilligan's island - peach schnapps, vodka, orange and pineapple juice and some cranberry juice. Mmmmmmmm It's rather good....
TigerLilly's Mom
10-12-2003, 02:47 PM
The Gilligan Drink sounds just like a Sex on the Beach - yummy! What are you doing at 8:30 over there?? It is only 3:30 here and I haven't even started on my second drink!!
AlexandNessa
10-12-2003, 03:04 PM
Sorry about that. I had some unexpected visitors. They're coming back in 2 hours for cocktails before dinner (I should be a fun date by then) and then we're going out for (more) Italian.
I guess that means I actually have to get dressed today. Don't laugh -- BF and I had a really late night last night, and didn't get up till almost 1. So I never changed!
How are everyone's drinks?
Selina
10-12-2003, 03:10 PM
Hiya.....the lines are really bad at the moment, they keep going down and then I can't get back on-line. And now they have gone off again and so I'll finish writing and try to get back on!!
The Gilligans is really nice. I was bought Peach Schnapps last Christmas and have had it with orange juice and pineapple juice but not with cranberry and vodka too. It's really fruity. After this one I'm going to try a Woo Woo - slightly different!! :D
Selina
10-12-2003, 03:31 PM
Time Zones!!! 9.25pm here but only 4.22pm over there!! Well I've nearly finished the Woo Woo. Shall I rest a while............no...I think while I wait for more to come and join the party I'll have a small Malibu Baybreeze........;) Question: DM whjere aaaaaare you????? :listen: Kevin...come and have a drinky.........Barry....will you have a small one with me??? Jessica....hope you can join us soon...........Spidey.....where aaaaaare you? :listen:...I have just the thing for you!!!;) Fly fly.....try the CCinderella...it's really nice my dd had one earlier..........and where's damo?.........going to make the Malibu one now......:D
AlexandNessa
10-12-2003, 04:01 PM
This is a pretty quiet and calm happy hour! I'll be back in a bit. Want to make sure I'm at least dressed this time when my company returns!
I'll be sipping while I get ready, so try to keep up :D
Selina
10-12-2003, 04:16 PM
Do you know I was just thinking that too!
"all alone with all the drinks!!"..........no-one here.......whooze idea was it to have a happy hour? Ummmmm *I can't remember so I;ll go and read back, but I think it was damo and where is damo, someone said 1pm but I think I said 4pm your time. Well it's 5 pm your time now. On the other hand...it's early for you...has it been a sunny day? It has here but not warm..about 14oC. Quite windy too.
Well I've finished the Malibu Baybreeze - prefer the Gilligan's Island out of the three of them. Now.....what next?!! Am Igoing to have a happy hour on my own...well I'm used to being on my own.....guess it will be.....and then I'll go to bed and everyone will be happy houring without me....that's life I guess......think I'll go and try theFuzzy Thing.......it has my name on it!! :p
AlexandNessa
10-12-2003, 04:20 PM
I'm back and ready to go. 15 whole minutes -- I'm pretty low maintenance -- just one of the guys they called me in grad school. Of course, being just one of the guys had its set-backs as well. It also meant that the "boys" felt safe to pass all sorts of bodily functions in front of me, so I guess it works both ways.
Anyway, I am enjoying a 2001 Montecito Sirah. Very smooth. So smooth I bought a whole case a few months ago, and wishing I had bought 2. Sounds like you can handle mixing, Selena! I can't. Have to stick with one thing. Wish I could, because then I'd be able to sample a whole lot of things at once.
It's a warm and beautiful day in NJ -- think BF may need to cut my grass just one last time before the first frost.

hey! I'm going crazy because there is nothing to do! :p I want to go do something or chat with someone, but neither is happening!! :)
Selina
10-12-2003, 04:30 PM
Hi....so nice to have company........well actually this is my FIRST time......so I'll tell you if I can in the morning.....:D
I've discovered whose idea it was AlexandNessa.....it was IMGONNABE40'S - but sadly she can't make it tonight. So what are you wearing for your evening out?:D
AlexandNessa
10-12-2003, 04:34 PM
Well, right now I am limited in what I can wear (what can fit over my cast). So, I am sporting white jean capri's and a blue denim button down shirt (both courtesy of LL Bean). I can't imagine LL Bean is popular in England, is it? It's one of my favorite stores, and I'd probably blow my whole paycheck there easily!
I do hope that you fare well with the mixing! I can't imagine toddlers must be any fun with a headache! (Are your nursery school kids toddlers?)
Selina
10-12-2003, 04:34 PM
Hi flyfly....I know....it's soo quiet....I had it all planned too! The cushions laid out, the scented candles, massaging techniques, relaxing ones,.....I'm stuck on the rpg thread....I don't know what to say next.....in a way Kevin was tuned in to my way of thinking....I was thinking that his automatic shoe cleaner was something else in disguise and it would cause huge disruptions because he wasn't quite used to working it!!...Anyway...what are you drinking now...did you try the cinderella?:D
AlexandNessa
10-12-2003, 04:37 PM
What's the RPG thread?
Flyfly_Eclipse
10-12-2003, 04:38 PM
so, I may have to try that another time. Wsn't able to get to the store for ny ingrediants (and no, we don't carry alot of juice in our house...we're pure Pepsi drinkers...LOL)
Anyway, I'm waiting on a reply on the RPG thread also because I'm not sure where to go from there yet. Though Kevin disrupting the show would be hysterical...what kind of madness will occur?
Who knows? I sure don't, or I would have posted more! :p

AlexandNessa - it's the Virtual Trip to US thread...only because of where things led on it, we edited a bunch of posts and removed some and let the story take a new direction (check out Virtual Trip to Universal Studios Revised). :)

Yes - young children - I'm working with 2.5 - 4.5 year olds. But I have swopped days - not working tomorrow - otherwise I wouldn't have experimented. I'm only making small ones that's why they are going so quickly. My fave shop for jean is "Trader" - not sure if we have LL Bean. I was beginning to feel hungry so I am now eating some stir fried noddles, that I made earlier with the left over steak from lunch, with onions, peppers, tomatoes, baby sweetcorn, chestnuts, carrot, mange tout and I poure din a thick soy sauce and mixed it all up. Just microwaved what was left - it's okay still. going to finish and maybe one last drink before bed....I have a feeling no-one's comin.... Have a lovely evening

Oh, right, I lost my creativity on the first one. Feel free to call me Jodie. It must be a pain typing out my cats names all the time.
I only have about 15 minutes or so till my friends come take me to dinner.
I do hope more people show soon!

Well, Jodie, feel free to join us in the other one at any time :) We're trying to have Barry, Spidey, and Timmy be in the Horror Makeup Show (completely different from the real show, mind you...). Hoping things will go insane and crazy, but we'll see. :p

Well, it is just us!!! I'm going to make the cow drink for my kids now and another baybreeze!
Jodie - I think of your kitties everytime I see your post. I don't know them, but I know you have to have a housesitter like us. I just love my kitties. I have Maggie, my nine year old long hair and Rose my spoiled baby - rescued from a barn covered with mites - she is the sweetest cat in the world.
Also have our shepard dog Sydney - she is our protector and so smart, is great with the kids. And our rescue one eyed little dog - Captain. We are working to save his other eye, but he has bad glaucoma and is going blind. I really, really love my animals!!!
Off to make the kids drink - will check in soon.

Well, friends. I've enjoyed a few glasses of wine with you. My friends are due at any moment, but I may check back in after dinner, as long as it's not jumping into my Carnivale time.
Is anyone else watching that? I'm hooked! It's so freaky.
Anyway, a pleasant night, and no unpleasant hangovers to all.
PS. A little trick I've learned if I've had a little too much to drink and have a busy day the next day is to take a dramamine or some kind of sea sickness med before bed. For some reason that really helps. Not that I'm corrupting minors or anything.

Weird things keep happening with the computer tonight. Just jumpog around...really weird. Fly fly....I think I may post before i go to bed...but it will be mad completely mad....
I hjave two cats..I went to an Animal rescue centre..their owner had died 3 days previously - both black with a little white down the front...14 months - very loveable...and my daughter calle d the girl one Luna (after the cat in "Sailor Moon") and my son called the other Louie (after the other cat in Princess Diaries). He's the boy cat. We've just had them for 2 months now.

Hi Selina:wave2: The buschwacker does look good! Hope you enjoyed your day!
Think the computer is doing weird things? Maybe its just the buschwackers making it seem that way!::yes::

It's gone on and off line a lot tonight...then when you post for some reason jumps to previous page instead of posting, then logging out, then you can't find the post you were typing. Very strange....this is my only buschwacker and it's a chocolate shot size....tiny.
Jessica just wanted to thank you for all the time you spent typing in all those drinks in this thread. It's provided everyone with a lovely cocktail list for parties and Christmas, etc...pity not many were about with me earlier but unfortunately even though it's early evening for you it's now half an hour to midnight for me..so I am going to bed now. Hope other's join you later.
Thanks to everyone who did join: tigerlilly's mom, and alexandnessa, fly fly fly

Jessica - i just wanted to say thanks for the list. My kids LOVED the Black Cow - they just thought it was the best thing ever. And it was fun to make too!
I am on my second Bay Breeze, but I upped the rum in this one so it is a bit stronger and GOOD!!
FlyFly - I am missing notifications too - weird stuff going on here tonight. :earseek:

10-12-2003, 06:17 PM
LOL!! I hate it when that happens! The absolute worse was a couple days ago in Melinda's thread (the "this is NOT good" or whatever). I got at least 10 notifications. When I got the first 3 notifications there was NO new post and then after the 6 or so more arrived, I finally saw she posted once.
Madness, I tell you!!! Madness!!!!

Not sure, Spidey. I think Tonia was going to make it for her kids after dinner cuz I think it had ice cream in it.
I hope I'm not the only left who participated in HH. I'm now working on the cheap wine called "$3 buck Chuck." It's awful, but I don't want to waste a good bottle at this point. I swear I'm not an alcoholic -- ashame to drink alone.

Well, it was the first time you all tried this. Maybe better luck next time...didn't seem like it was TOO bad, actually. Maybe not a large group, but there was a time when a few were on for "Happy Hour."
Anyway, I have school tomorrow and g2g. Talk to you tomorrow Jodie! :)
