Well, we got back from our 3 day cruise on Sunday. I had been 133.5 pre cruise. Sunday night I stepped on the scale (after lots of speghetti for dinner) and I was 137!!! I've been losing every day since then and now I'm back down to 134! :p
I KNEW that my body could not possibly take the food I ate and lay it down as fat that quickly (3 short days) and now that I've lost the weight nearly as quickly I'm SURE that my weight gain was due to....well, uh....not expelling as fast as I was eating!! I've high fibered myself the last few days (shredded wheat, prunes, prune juice) and I'm back to normal. I was feeling very bloated there for a bit.
So all of you cruisers out there....don't fret if you gain a pound, or two, or three....chances are, it's not fat that's causing the gain!
Btw, I took the stairs 98% of the time, danced at deck parties, swam at Castaway Cay, but did no "formal" exercising in the spa. And *most* of the time I ate within the parameters of hungry and satisfied, although I'll admit to gorging on a couple of meals, topped off with one or two desserts!
Good to be back.....

ohiominnie,
glad to hear you were able to enjoy the entire cruise experience, not worry about eating, but at the same time getting lots of fun exercise.
I can't see cruising and not enjoying all it has to offer as far as food selection and desserts. When we cruise together in Dec. '04 I hope to be much skinnier and will definately pay attention to portion size etc., but I totally plan on having fun at dinner.
Nice to hear it is coming off easily and you are back on track!

Hi Ohiominnie,
I am so glad that you had a such a fabulous time, ate what you want and came back and got back to business and are back where you were before you left. Way to go!!!
You are such an inspiration, my trip next month to WDW is scaring me a little since last year after I went on a long weekend after loosing 37 pounds, I never recovered and gained almost all of it back. I realize now, that it's a lifestyle change, and It isn't a diet, so I hope I get right back on and finish loosing the last few pounds when I get home. I know I can do it, but it's scary.
Great job! Congrats.

wdwlvr-- Yes! We cruise together in 2004!! I told dh I'd better not gain a pound a day on that cruise or I'll have to take 2 sizes of clothes! I guess the lesson learned is eat prunes off of the Parrot Cay buffet for breakfast!! Of course, best to do those on "at sea" days, not ones I'll be treking across who knows where on excursions!
MelanieC-- Wow, *I'm* an inspiration? Hardly! Just to reassure you, this is my FIRST time gaining this much on a Disney vacation. We usually go to Disney for 12 days. I weigh before and after and typically I weigh .5 to 1 pound more. All that walking at WDW counteracts the food---and believe me, I EAT! We usually have at least one large sit down (priority seating type) meal a day. You can do it!!! I know you can!

I'm glad you enjoyed your cruise. I'm doing the Oct 19 4 day Wonder with DD. I do intend on enjoying the meals. I've never been a big dessert eater but I have been known to enjoy several appetizers at each meal. Plus, we'll be spending a few days back at the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. Like you, I'll try to behave when I get home to counteract any weight I gain.

That is so great that you took the stairs while on the cruise. I should have done that. I took them going down, but if I had 3 or more floors to go up, I took the elevator.
I just started working on losing my weight and I have a year before my next cruise. It is going to be a 7 night cruise, and I want to look good for the picture next time (this time, I hated seeing my pictures).
Congrats on getting that weight back off! Glad you enjoyed your cruise. The worse part of the DCL is when it is over! Even knowing we are going back next year just seems SO far away! But that gives me time to get rid of these extra pounds that I do not need!

ohiominnie!!! welcome back!!!
I think 3 lbs on a cruise is something to be proud of and WTG working in some activity! I've actually thought of how stiff I will be on our WDW trip if I don't start my day with 10-15 mins of yoga and keep moving throughout our cruising days. The park days will take care of that for me! Point being, our bodies are made to move and your activity kept your mo-jo going!
Can't wait to see your pics - let's do lunch when you are feeling settled!!:boat:
