Here in the midwest we have had about a week of cool days(highs in the 50s). In the past I never wore sweaters very often even in the dead of winter because I was ALWAYS hot even at work where everyone else was usually cold. This past week however I have been FREEZING, I even wore a sweater to work today and I was still cold! At home I have been wearing flannel pj's (something I was surprised I even owned!) DH has also commented that he must be getting older because he's been so cold lately. I have lost about 20 lbs and DH close to 40 and our suspicion is that losing some of our "insulation" may be what's going on. I hope to have lost a lot more by January so it might be a cold winter!:D Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this as they have lost some of their insulation!

I still have a lot more insulation to lose!

But, it makes sense to me! Time to start wearing an extra layer!

Rhonda - I have LOTS more insulation to lose myself that's why I have been surprised that with just losing 20 lbs I can tell a difference! :D

I don't know if it's the "insulation" I've lost or just that it's stinking COLD!!!! :) I just got home from work. It's 3:00 a.m. here and it is 35 degrees outside!!!!

I heard in the northern parts of Michigan they got actual snow! It was sleeting today around 3;30 on the western side of the state.

I want summer back:(

Yes!! ::yes:: I have noticed it is cold... makes going on my daily walks a different experience. I dread it getting any colder.... I may need to invest in a treadmill! Because I am a wimp when it comes to being cold. We have started having to use the heat already and last night I put an extra blanket on my bed and my childrens bed.

When I lost 50 pounds in 1990, I noticed that my hands and feet were EXTREMEMLY cold all the time. I know it was from loss of weight. Not sure I'd call it the insulation effect, but my whole metabolism cahnged, so I was always colder. Since then, I've put a few pounds back on  and I'm not nearly as cold. But with the support of WISH, I plan to have a very cold winter again, and love every shiver of it. I'd much rather layer on the clothes than feel the fat rolls!:p

You are not imagining things! I too have had this experience. I had lost 50 lbs a few years ago and turned into an icecube, plus we live in MN, so it is cold here in the winter anyways - I learned to always have an extra layer of clothes with me to substitute my old fat layer. When I gained some of it back just before and during pregnancy - suddenly lost the chill.

I am working steadily on getting my chill back because I know that it means I am getting smaller again - yay!

We should start a "shiver club" - only those who have gone through it would know what it means! :goodvibes

Yes, I've noticed it, too. The good news is that I don't mind wearing fleece or some of the heavier sweater styles anymore. :teeth: When I had more insulation, I didn't like to wear anything that "added bulk" to my silhouette! :teeth:

Glad to see I am not the only one with this problem! I think the Shiver Club sounds great! I also don't mind being cold at all since I know the REAL reason I'm colder than normal is that I am thinner than I have been in the past few winters! I am enjoying bringing out all those sweaters I never wear and not only needing them because I'm cold but they are a little too big too! :D So my fellow WISHers - here's hoping for a COLDER winter than last year because WE are all smaller!! :teeth:
