We arrive Nov 28, the Friday after Thanksgiving, and I've tried all the rental companies with all the codes I could find and nothing is working. HELP!!! What am I doing wrong? I'm not new to this but for some reason it just isn't working for this trip. A really hate to drop over $200 for a compact for 6 days. Usually this time frame cost about $125 - $150 with all the fees. Any guidance would be appreciated.

You hit the blackout periods for most codes.

Bill - have you tried splitting up the reservation? (a one day rental and then the rest of your days or any other combination?)

Many codes and coupons are "capacity controlled." You may have waited too long to make your reservations. There seem to be more travelers to Orlando this year than in the recent past.

Try calling and see what the agents can give you for a rate. They may know the reason you are having trouble booking, too.

Good luck!

Tonight I made a reservation through National's website, picking up an intermediate car Nov. 23 and dropping off Nov. 29. I used my Entertainment book code, plus a $20 coupon, and with taxes and fees it's costing $161.

Bill is going the day after TG, which is a blackout time for cars.
You are going before the blackout time.

Gail and everyone, Thanks for the responses. I guess I don't understand why this year the Friday after TG is a blackout time, when for the last 3 years it wasn't. I assume business must be picking up for the travel industry. Off to try plan B and C, priceline and Limo's. And Gail, you are right, I did wait too long this year. Didn't know if this trip was going to happen or not.
